Chapter Text

«Mum, please, I’m never leaving if you keep holding me this way» Namjoon gave his mother a tearful smile

«I’m just so proud of you, my child» the woman in tears replied «This is a great honor, you know, right? I'm sorry because I just want to do more for you and- »

«Mom,” he rebuked her gently «You’ve already done too much for me, I just hope I won’t be a burden for you anymore» he said and the woman sighed.

«Have a nice trip» the woman added, giving him a caress and the boy popped a kiss on her cheek before setting off towards the platform where her train would start.

He was still finding it hard to believe. He himself, Kim Namjoon, one of his university's outcasts, had obtained that scholarship for the internship. He felt like crying at the thought. He would go to Seoul, to one of the most prestigious astronomical research observatories in the world. Of course, he was worried about leaving his mother all alone, especially in those terrible economic conditions in which they had found themselves in the last few months because of his father, but he had confidence in his abilities and he knew that if he could get the job, he would maintained her as she deserved.

He felt so euphoric at that moment that nothing could ever ruin his day.

The train arrived punctually to the destination and he got out, calling for a taxi that would take him to the building where he had rented an apartment. In the taxi he called the owner, pointing out that he was going there.

"Yes Namjoon, don’t worry, the key is in the mailbox with the name" Park Jimin ", which is that of your roommate. I'll come in a few days for the rent "

The man's words echoed in his brain as he looked out from the immense condominium, located just outside the city center. He sighed, he had to adapt, unfortunately he could not afford such an apartment all alone.

He took the key from inside the box, as he had been told, and headed for the 6th floor, looking for the right door.

Do you know when you are having a wonderful day and destiny seems to want to do everything to spoil your good mood?

Here, something like that.

The stench of smoke that Namjoon sensed as soon as he opened the door was only the prologue of what awaited him once he entered. The kitchen sink, next to the entrance, was overflowing with dirty dishes that stood there who knows from how long. The floor under his feet was all a crick crack of chips or who knows what other crumbly food.

Namjoon took a deep breath, trying to stay calm and not to lose his good mood.

«May I?» he said, trying to lift his suitcase to avoid the crick crack that was driving him crazy.

He heard a thud from one of the neighboring rooms and saw a door open, revealing a bare-chested boy.

He was quite short, or maybe he was too tall. He had a sculpted body and a tattoo on the left side of his chest with "Nevermind" written on it. Namjoon had to make an effort to look up at his face and was equally enchanted.

«And who would you be?» the question flowed out of two large, full lips that gave him the idea of being very soft. He blinked several times to try to compose himself and stood upright.

«I’m ... um ... I'm Kim Namjoon ... your roommate» he said and saw him raising an eyebrow and running his hand through his pastel pink hair.

«Um, I think the boss told me about you, but I probably didn't listen to him.» He replied, leaning against the door frame «That’s your room» he continued, pointing to the door on the other side of the corridor

Namjoon nodded towards the door and opened it, finding relief to see that at least that room was in perfect order.

«I’m Jimin» the boy said and he turned, noticing him with an outstretched hand

«Nice to meet you» he replied «would you mind dressing up?» he asked, rolling his eyes

«I’m used to walking around a semi-naked house, you'll get used to it» the boy replied, then headed for the door of his room and closed it gently.

Namjoon observed a point in the void for quite a long time until music began to spread from the other room to a considerable volume and the boy decided to enter the room to start fixing things.

He let himself sigh, that boy didn't convince him very much and rarely he was wrong about first impressions. Once he had finished fixing his clothes, he went to the kitchen to find something to eat, since he was starving.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. How could there be all those dirty dishes if the cupboards were completely empty and the most edible thing I could find was some moldy bread?

He snorted, pulling up his sleeves and remembering what his mother told him, "smile at life and she will smile at you.

And so, on BigBang’s notes coming from Jimin's room, he began to wash the dishes, hoping that that cohabitation would proceed better than it had started.

«You’re not from Seoul, right?» Jimin asked when, that evening, they found themselves sitting at the kitchen table eating sushi ordered with Just Eat.

«I’m from Daegu» said Namjoon, turning the grains of rice on his plate, without looking up. Apparently that guy just loved going around without a shirt and freaking him out.

«Daegu? What have you been doing here?»The boy asked, curious

«I received a scholarship for the internship at the Seoul Astronomical Observatory and well ... I certainly couldn't refuse» he said, making Jimin's eyes widen open

«You must be a real nerd then, hyung» he exclaimed and Namjoon looked up at him

«Who said I'm the hyung here?»

«If you are doing an apprenticeship in an astronomical observatory it means that you have finished your three-year university and, even if you are a year ahead, this would still make you at least two years older than me» replied the pink nibbling the tip of the wand and the dark-haired one raised an eyebrow.

«You’re smart, Jimin. I'm twenty-three, anyway. I'm not a year ahead» he said, and Jimin smiled contentedly

«You? Do you still do university?» Namjoon asked and saw the minor deepening

«I left in the first year. It wasn't for me. Now I have a job and I keep with that.»

«I understand» said the major, standing up and arranging the dishes in the sink. «Sorry if I asked you an uncomfortable question»

«It’s okay» Jimin replied, getting up and going to his room, without even removing his dinner plate. Namjoon sighed, it didn't look easy.
