Mama Chuuya

Summary:

Dazai was prepared for a lot of things in his life. What he wasn't prepared for was seeing Chuuya buy supplies for babies in secret. So he follows him home to confirm a suspicion, and low and behold, Chuuya has a baby!? And the icing on the cake? Seeing his ex-partner acting so loving towards a baby results in it doing things to his heart, and the feelings he's tried so hard to deny start bubbling up like a volcano ready to burst.

Notes:

Soooooooooooooooooo... Yeah, this idea had been on my mind for some time now and... Let's be honest, I'm just getting this out of my system.... Just so you all know, some characters will be OOC, just to warn you now

I don't own Bungou Stray Dogs. Enough said

Chapter 1: The Unexpected Secret

Chapter Text

Dazai was prepared for many things in his life. He was prepared to go on dangerous missions, he was prepared to try it a new suicide method, hell he was even prepared for annoying Kunikida with some of his antics. He was prepared to give out advice to Atsushi when needed and prepared to be lazy with his paperwork as usual.

So what was it that he wasn't prepared for?

Seeing the ever familiar chibi hatrack in the store.

Now it wasn't unusual for people to go shopping. Everyone goes grocery shopping when they need to. How else is anyone going to get the things that possibly need or want?

But that wasn't what confused him.

What confused him was seeing Chuuya Nakahara in the baby aisle picking out diapers and wipes.

Of all the aisles the suicidal detective was expecting to find the mafia executive to be in when shopping, it would either be the wine aisle or the aisle with tacky hats.

But a baby aisle?

Why would Chuuya need baby stuff?

The ginger didn't seem to be aware that he was being watched as he wrote down on what looked to be a notepad, probably a grocery list, if Dazai had to guess. The petite male tapped his chin with his pencil as he looked over the whole aisle once more, as if trying to figure out what else he needed.

"Ah, right!" He heard him say. "Baby formula!"

Dazai could only stare as he watched Chuuya grab some baby formula before marking everything down and leaving the aisle. Out of curiosity and suspicion that the chibi might be hiding something, the detective followed, doing well in staying undetected.

(No pun intended... Like seriously, I wasn't even trying to be funny)

He followed his ex-partner to a free register, and what he noticed was that the ginger held the items in one hand, more than likely using his ability to make it easier, while his other hand was hiding in his coat and... Was he cooing at something underneath it?

Dazai narrowed his eyes as Chuuya paid for everything before grabbing his stuff and swiftly leaving. He may be fast, but Dazai wasn't the other half of Double Black for nothing. It was easy to catch up with the ginger as he followed him to, what he would assume to be his apartment.

But it wasn't the same direction he was taking. This direction was different somehow...

Did Chuuya get a new place?

He shook his head. Dazai was probably over thinking it. Maybe someone in the Port Mafia was having a baby and they were throwing a baby shower. That had to be it! But then again, he's never heard of any member in the mafia ever having a baby. Babies were practically targets for the enemy to use against them, and the mafia would never afford such a risk.

Dazai's curiosity spiked even more and he made sure to keep up with Chuuya, knowing for a fact that he was definitely hiding something.

Every once in a while, he'd catch Chuuya cooing at whatever he was hiding under his jacket and he could faintly hear a tiny... Giggle?

Not just any giggle, but a...

"Hi, Chuuya!"

Dazai was cut off from his train of thought and hid behind a light post in order to not be seen. When he peeked out from his hiding place, he saw Chuuya conversing with a really pretty woman with a polite smile.

"You could've asked me to watch her, Chuuya!"

"Ah, no, I couldn't ask you to do that," the ginger said sheepishly.

"Well, my offer of babysitting is still out there if you need it!"

Babysitting?

"Are you sure? Don't you have kids of your own?"

"I do, but it can't be easy being a single parent. I'm willing to help if you need it."

Parent?

"Thank you, Mito. I'll keep it in mind."

"See you later!"

With that, Chuuya parted ways with the woman and up the stairs of what Dazai could only assume to be his new apartment.

'Okay, I can't take this anymore!'

As soon the door to Chuuya's home was unlocked and opened, Dazai rushed over as fast as he could, barely able to catch the door before the ginger could close it. And what he saw was what he suspected but didn't want to believe.

When Chuuya had turned around towards the intruder, there it was. A small bundle in his arms, having to use both in order to hold the little bundle in his arms, even if it resulted in dropping his groceries.

Dazai couldn't believe it.

Chuuya had a baby.
