Chapter Text
“-Is this your first time in an amusement park ?” the blonde to his left asked. He had cute marks just above the cheekbones that highlighted his smiling face.
“-Well not really but… I’m used to family parks, you know, with more kids-friendly attractions. I’m freaking out a little bit. Some of these look like really big thrills!”
“-Oh you mean the rollercoasters ? I see. Don’t worry. You just have to survive the first one, then all the others will be piece of cake.”
“-But I’m not sure to be brave enough to even give it a try…” said Joseph, scratching his head, an unsure smile outlining his sexy lips. “Look at these heights!” He outstretched his arm above his head, pointing theatrically to the tracks reaching the clouds just before their eyes. Or so it seemed. “Are you not scared just by seeing this crazy shit?”
“-Oh my, no. Been on a bunch of these rides. The only thing I’m afraid of is the haunted house. Bad childhood memories. Meh, don’t worry man, we’re all in this together!” He emphasized his speech with a little friendly tap on his shoulder.
Joseph was already panicking and they were not even in the line yet. He pulled his scarf in front of his face with both hands in an attempt to act cool and not like the chicken he was.
What a great idea it was from the student’s council committee to organize the orientation week-end in an amusement park. They were all from the same year at uni, but unlike all the group that seemed to know one another, that blonde guy and himself were new. And so they ended hanging out together, a few paces behind the rest of their loud team of youngsters.
“-C’mon dude, it’s not like we are beginning with the tallest ride, anyway. You’ll have time to get used to the idea. Look, they’re more likely heading towards the water slide, or whatever this is.”
Joseph read out loud the appealing pannel above the beginning of the line. It said “Great Splash”. Ok, ok, that he knew. That was cool. He would have fun. And according to the announcements, there was only a 15 minutes wait.
The crowd was slowly swallowing them into the turning labyrinth that would bring the group to the boat thingy. They had been on the same spot for a few minutes now.
The blonde next to him shifted a little. Then he said with a hint of annoyance :
“Seriously, though, getting wet on the first ride? So early in the morning? I hope the sky stays clear because I don’t want to catch a freaking cold!” There was a ghost of a frowning on his face, and it made his green eyes glitter.
“Haha! Come on, don’t be so grumpy ! We’ll be dry in no time, it’s so hot here. You’re lucky they chose to bring us here on July and not October. Maybe we should offer to choose the next ride so you don’t get upset so soon !”
Then the guys up front turned around and began chatting with the blonde to justify their choice. Actually they had a point, and the blonde, whose named turned out to be Caesar by the way, finally admitted it. Waiting time versus comfort, in the burning afternoon the water attractions wouldn’t likely be reachable except after at least a 45 minutes wait.
That was fun to see this side of his. A bit of the complaining type, eh? And Joseph had finally caught his name, that for whichever reason he hadn’t asked for yet. He was now using this waiting time well, detailing his comrade head to toe. With all that crowd reducing their personal space, he was so freaking close.
Caesar looked really fine, with that sleeveless shirt tightly fit around his muscular body, and the skinniest jeans Joseph had ever seen. Like could he even have room for underwear under these garments? For whatever reason he found himself blushing slightly at the thought and realized he had forgotten to follow the crowd. He rushed towards the group and stretched a little to put his thoughts aside.
“Like what you saw?” Caesar said, with a raised eyebrow. “It seems you forgot to move.”
Did he get caught staring? Absolutely not. Impossible. He could be named the discreet fox with his stealth abilities. Or was it the bull in the china shop? Better bite the bullet.
“Well, actually, yes! I see you have a great fashion-sense! Look at those gloves of yours...” It came naturally and hopefully did the trick. He moved even closer and took one of Caesar’s hand in his. Caesar did seem a little wary at first but quickly relaxed. Joseph began chit chatting about clothing and fashion accessories, all the while tracing Caesar’s glove’s features. The metal plate was warm, reflecting sunbeams. The leather smelt good and he resisted the urge to put his nose over it. Caesar’s fingers were long and delicate in contrast to all these muscles his arms held. But he was sure these fists knew how to punch, and hard. He got caught in his own game when he realized the gloves made Caesar look even hotter. And the way they matched his own…
“As I see you are a man of taste too.” Caesar then entwined their fingers and raised their hands together in the sunlight. It was like a victory gesture. He turned them to each side slowly, contemplating their matching gloves with the most beautiful smile Joseph had ever seen. The metal parts kept catching the light and sending colored rays all around them.
Time flies when you’re having fun. The group started to get in the small boat that would go up and down those tracks and hopefully get them drenched.
“We are the dream team, man. You and me. I’m sure you’ll beat the shit out of these roller coasters, and I even begin to think I should give the haunted house a second chance.”
“But for now we’ll be the soaked team!” Joseph said cheerily, entering the boat.
