Chapter Text
“How old do you have to be to get a job at that cafe downtown?” Taehyung asked.
“Why do you ask?” Jimin questioned. Taehyung had never shown interest in getting a job there before, only for the pastries in said cafe.
“My parents are getting on me about working now that Jungkook has gotten a job at the gym,” Now that made more sense. Jungkook, Taehyung’s little step brother, had recently gotten a job at the gym and now their parents must have been getting on him because he was younger yet working before him.
“Why did that little brat have to go and get a job? Now my life is being made more difficult.” Taehyung whined.
“Who’s a brat hyung?” A voice from behind Jimin said. When Jimin turned around, he was met with none other than Jeon Jungkook himself. Jimin did a double-take. The last time Jimin had seen him was before the summer started, and now that school was back in session, they would be seeing each other again.
The long time apart had definitely granted some time for changes. The scrawny, little teenage boy that Jimin had known was nowhere to be found. Instead, in his place stood a much taller, much broader, much more muscular, much more handsome man in front of him. His coconut-head hair-cut was gone, instead leaving longer, fluffy looking locks. He stood before Jimin wearing a white sweatshirt and jean joggers, definitely going more for comfort than style, but still managed to pull it off.
Jimin blinked a couple times while Jungkook stood there with a stupid smirk on his face.
“Yah! Who told you that you could spy on your hyung like that you brat! And yes, it’s you that is a brat!” Taehyung shouted at Jungkook. Jungkook laughed and sat down, eyes barely leaving Jimin’s to sit down before they returned. Jimin looked away once he realized he had definitely been staring too long.
Jimin stared at his plate while Taehyung rambled on about something that Jimin couldn’t fully pay attention to. His focus was on the stare he could feel coming from Jungkook, whose eyes still had not left Jimin.
“Jimin-ah, you dyed your hair,” Jungkook finally said, interrupting whatever Taehyung was talking about.
Taehyung scoffed and glared at Jungkook before turning to Jimin and ruffling his hair. “Blonde looks great on Jimin, doesn’t it?” Taehyung said while smiling fondly at Jimin.
Jimin finally looked back up and, to no surprise, found Jungkook staring at him. He felt his cheeks heat up at the stare, but wrote it off on the compliment from his best friend.
“Last time I saw you it was brown,” Jungkook said, giving off no indication to whether he liked it or not.
“And it looks amazing on him, don’t you think?” Taehyung asked, directed at Jungkook with an expectant glare.
Jungkook just looked down to his own plate and began eating. Taehyung rolled his eyes and muttered “Brat.” under his breath.
Jimin felt a slight kick to his ego at the non-answer. Clearly if he didn’t respond that meant he had some shred of decency to not tell Jimin he actually disliked the blonde on him.
Jimin could feel Jungkook’s stare on him at many points during the lunch, but didn’t dare look up. If it was anyone else, he would have given them a lesson on proper manners, especially since Jungkook had dropped honorifics when talking to him. But for some reason Jimin stayed silent, eating while Taehyung talked about something.
“Are you coming over after school today?” Taehyung asked, breaking Jimin out of his daze.
“Oh, uh, y-yeah” Jimin said, having not listened to him up until the question. Until Jungkook had sat down across from him, he hadn’t had trouble listening to Taehyung’s ramblings, but now he felt his mind slipping to other places. Specifically thinking about when Jungkook’s jaw had gotten so sharp and when he had grown so much taller.
The bell rang to send them off the class, and Jimin got up to walk to his 6th period, when Jungkook stepped in front of him.
“See you after school Jimin-ah,” Jungkook said before turning around and walking away. Once again, Jungkook had dropped honorifics and once again, Jimin had not said anything about it.
Jimin watched him as he walked away. Even his walk has changed, Jimin thought. He shook his head and walked off towards math, still dumbfounded at the new Jungkook that had walked into the cafeteria.
~
Jimin walked up to Taehyung’s house and rang the doorbell. He stood outside waiting with the weight of his backpack on his shoulders.
Jungkook opened the door for him, and walked away with the door open upon seeing it was Jimin. Jimin scoffed at his rudeness and walked towards the living room.
“Taehyung isn’t here right now,” Jungkook stated, looking down at his phone.
“Where is he then?” Jimin said, walking around to the couch.
“How should I know, I’m not his keeper,” Jungkook said, not once looking up from his phone.
Jimin sighed and set his backpack down. He had come over to study, and he was still planning to study whether Taehyung was there or not.
Jungkook walked over and stood watching him with his hands in his pockets while Jimin got his textbooks out. Jimin glanced up at him with a questioning gaze, but Jungkook provided no response. Jimin sighed and returned back to getting his study materials ready.
Jungkook finally turned around and walked up the stairs to his room, leaving Jimin in the living room to study. Jungkook emerged again from his room, this time wearing basketball shorts and muscle t-shirt covered with a loose hoodie over the top of it.
“I’m going to the gym Jimin-ah. I’ll see you later,” Jungkook said before walking out the door. Jimin hummed, never looking up from the equations he was writing on his paper.
At some point, Jimin had drifted off the sleep while studying. He awoke to the lights off and a blanket over the top of him. He saw Jungkook in the kitchen getting water and a protein bar, and Taehyung also in the kitchen making something in the microwave.
Jimin shuffled his way over to the kitchen, still groggy from just waking up from his short nap. His eyes weren’t open enough to fully take in his surroundings, and his vision was also a bit blurry.
“Good morning sleeping beauty,” Taehyung said, keeping his attention on the food in the microwave.
Jimin hummed and walked over to the kitchen sink, turning it on and cupping water in his hands to splash over his face.
When he lifted his head up, he was met with the sight of a sweaty Jungkook with a muscle shirt on. He was resting his back on the counter, completely oblivious to Jimin’s inner turmoil.
Jimin swallowed and kept staring at the way the shirt clung to his sweaty body. He could see every outline of every muscle, which caused him to part his mouth slightly in shock. The Jungkook he had known 3 months ago did not have THOSE muscles.
Jimin looked away when he saw Jungkook turn his head towards his direction. “Tae, we need to study, I’ve probably been sleeping for too long anyways.”
“Do we have to?” Taehyung pouted. Calculus was the last thing he wanted to be doing right now.
Jimin simply grabbed his arm and dragged him back out the living room, partially to study, partially to escape the muscle pig that is Jeon Jungkook.
“Can we take a break? I think I’ll pass out if I have to do one more question,” Taehyung whined.
“I guess, it’s getting pretty late to be honest,” Jimin yawned. Just as every other high school student, he is severely sleep deprived.
“I think I need to go to sleep, I might fall asleep on you,” Taehyung said dramatically, falling onto Jimin’s lap.
Jimin giggled and pushed Taehyung off of him, who simply slumped down onto the floor.
“You can stay over if you want. It’s pretty late and it will be even later by the time you would get home,” Taehyung said, eyes still closed. Jimin didn’t even have to think twice about his answer. He kept extra clothes for school at Taehyung’s house since he was there so often, and it more often than not ended up with him in the guest bedroom.
“Yeah, I seriously need to shower but I have no energy left to do anything,” Jimin said, yawning half-way through his sentence.
Taehyung headed up to his room, and Jimin fell asleep on the couch, still wearing what he had been wearing at school.
When Jimin awoke, it was about 15 minutes before his alarm normally went off. He pulled himself off of the couch and walked to the bathroom, making a stop in Taehyung’s room first to grab his clothes that he would be wearing that day.
He made his way to the bathroom, but saw the door was closed. He stretched his arm out to knock on the door, but just as he was about to, the door opened.
Out walked Jungkook himself, in his half-naked glory. He wore a towel around the waist, but it was covering the absolute bare minimum of his lower half. Jimin gulped at the visual of Jungkook’s tight abs, eye’s trailing down to the pronounced V-line of his hips. He smelled amazing, like a rainforest made of the tears of every man who could never achieve the body that he possessed.
When Jimin’s eyes finally made it up Jungkook’s, he saw a giant cocky smirk stretched across his face. Jimin blushed at being caught checking Jungkook out, suddenly self-conscious about his messy hair and probably smelly body from the absence of a shower the night before.
Jimin made a move to enter the bathroom, but Jungkook moved to stand in his way, broad, naked shoulders effectively blocking the entrance.
“Jungkook-ah, m-move. I need to shower before school” Jimin stuttered out and shuddered at the sudden proximity. Although they were not near touching, Jimin was way closer to Jungkook’s washboard abs than he had ever asked to be (verbally, atleast).
Jungkook just smirked. He bent down to whisper something into Jimin’s ear. “Call me hyung and I’ll think about,” he said. Jimin shivered at the warm breath on his earlobe.
Jungkook was still wearing that stupid smirk on his face. Jimin found himself in shock.
Not only does this brat suddenly drop honorifics with me, but he expects me to call him hyung to take a damn shower? Jimin thought.
“W-what the hell Jungkook? Cut it out and move out of my way,” he went to push him out of the way, but soon realized what a mistake that was when he got a palm pressed onto a hard, muscular chest.
Jimin went to quickly withdraw his hand upon realizing his mistake, but Jungkook grabbed his hand, keeping his hand pressed firmly onto Jungkook’s bare chest. Jungkook dragged Jimin’s hand ever so slowly down his chest, smirk growing bigger when Jimin’s eyes grew double their size.
“Like what you see?” Jimin blushed, “And feel?” Jimin blushed twice as hard, if that was even possible.
Jimin yanked his hand away when it started reaching dangerous territories. “Yah! What has gotten into you these days! You-”
“Don’t act like you don’t like it, Jimin-ah” Jungkook interrupted, still smirking. His face seemed to permanently be painted with that smirk when he was around Jimin.
Jimin had just about had enough. “It’s HYUNG to you! Since when did you become so disrespectful, huh?”
Instead of responding, Jungkook pulled Jimin into the bathroom, closed the door, and pushed Jimin against it. He caged him in with his arms, and Jimin suddenly couldn’t breathe. Jungkook leaned down and whispered, “So what if I don’t call you hyung? What are you gonna do about it?”, lips brushing against the shell of Jimin’s ear.
Jimin’s couldn’t respond, he was too busy trying to keep his breathing under control. Jungkook pulled back to look at Jimin, eyesight flitting from his eyes to his lips. His gaze seemed to lock on his lips, and-
“Jimin! Are you awake? We have to get ready for school!” Taehyung shouted from the kitchen.
Jimin shoved Jungkook away, who just looked amused. Jungkook took one final look at Jimin before he opened the door and exited the bathroom, leaving Jimin to ponder what the hell just happened.
Whether Jungkook’s shower or their sudden exchange made the room misty was beyond Jimin.
