Bonds of Brotherhood

Summary:

As Dabi leaned against the door frame, eavesdropping on the conversation between Shouto and their mother, he couldn’t help but agree with his baby brother’s assessment. His mind raced back to that fateful evening in the woods when they had kidnapped that wild blond brat, who incidentally wasn’t worth the trouble in his esteemed opinion. He remembered the sight of dark green curls dripping with a mixture of blood and sweat surrounding bright emerald colored eyes, his small frame broken and bruised.

Shouto was right - Izuku Midoriya is something special. Something in need of further exploration.

Notes:

Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception.

Chapter Text

“There’s this guy. Midoriya.”

“Someone in your class?”

“Yeah.”

“We fought. At the Sports Festival. He was all beaten up and his hands were practically falling off, but he just kept coming at me.”

“Oh my!” The woman exclaimed.

“So I had to use my full power against him. For the first time ever.”

“Did you now?”

“He’s something special.” The villain heard Shouto inform their mother with an obvious fondness coloring his voice.

As Dabi leaned against the doorframe, eavesdropping on their conversation, he couldn’t help but agree with his baby brother’s assessment.

His train of thought was broken when he heard footsteps in the distance, growing louder and louder in volume. He turned and spotted his younger sister approaching with a basket of clothes in her arm. She clearly hadn’t spotted him or else she would’ve yelled or something similar. He ducked down the hallway without a backwards glance.

That time in his life was over - he didn’t need his biological family anymore. He had a new family. A family that accepted him as he was - scars and all. He only kept tabs on his mother and siblings now in the hopes that he could learn something that could be useful in taking down the new number one hero. Permanently.

The eldest Todoroki had never expected to stumble upon such an incredible opportunity as unraveling the puzzle that was Izuku Midoriya. The young student closest to All Might himself, the one most poised to inherit the mantle as the new Symbol of Peace… who also happened to be distractingly gorgeous. He yearned to know more about the teen, to fully understand him.

As Dabi left the facility, an idea entered his mind unbidden and impossible to ignore. The image of a freckled body writhing beneath him came to life, his brain filling in every miniscule detail. He knew at that moment what needed to be done.

The conviction of fully possessing All Might’s successor quickly became an obsession, building in intensity with each passing day. The idea consumed him more and more. All too soon he was devoting all of his free time to calculating the risks involved and carefully planning how to make his fantasy a reality. To give his desires shape and form, to force them out of the nebulous recesses of his mind and force them into existence.

He wasn’t able to act on it immediately, of course. His role in the League kept him in a state of frequent activity. There always seemed to be some new organization, whether it be another villainous group or the disgusting heroes, trying to take them on. It seemed like he was preoccupied with some fresh, new task every single day, but fate was kind to him eventually and his chance finally came to him one autumn day during his brother’s final year at UA.

The leaves around the hospital had started changing already. Bursts of orange and red dotted the surrounding landscape. The air was crisp, all traces of summer gone but the chill of winter was not quite there yet. It was as good a day as any to forcibly kidnap a young adult against his will Dabi supposed.

Izuku had been visiting their mother with Shouto for months now, the visits only multiplying more and more as the days dragged on. Dabi knew it was just a matter of time before the freckled student arrived to the facility without his baby brother latched around his waist. So he was been patient and waited, work keeping him busy anyway. And then he waited some more - until today.

Dabi watched in satisfaction as the green haired boy stepped outside the yellow cab stopped in front of the building. Izuku didn’t pause or look back as he ambled up the concrete steps leading to the hospital. Dabi’s moment had finally arrived and all he had to do was reach out and grab it. The older male didn’t hesitate as he pulled out his phone and typed a quick message.

The smaller male reemerged from the building about thirty minutes later, the automatic doors shut behind him with a small gust of wind. No one else was outside, besides the young UA student. A deep, comforting feeling of providence settled into Dabi’s being.

“He just left. Are you ready, Toga?” Dabi called out to the small figure behind him.

“To finally get my sweet Izu-kun? Absolutely.” The blonde replied with a dreamy expression.

Dabi watched as her body morphed, visible even in the poor lighting afforded by the empty alleyway. It had been interesting to watch her quirk in action the first dozen times or so, but now? All he felt was impatience as her limbs elongated and her hair changed into a dark shade of blue. He directed his flames at a trash can a few feet away from her and the container flew into the air. Trash littered the ground and smoke filled the air.

“HELP!” She screamed. “Someone please help, there’s a villain!”

Dabi heard hurried footsteps pounding the pavement in the distance. He didn’t need to turn around to see who had come to the rescue. But that didn’t stop him from grinning as his target jumped into view with a flash of green sparks.

“Oh, thank goodness you’re here!” Himiko said breathlessly. “He’s trying to kill me!”

The disguised woman pointed an accusing finger at Dabi. His grin grew wider as he sent another blast of fire at her in response. Midoriya grabbed her in his arms, jumping to another part of the abandoned street to avoid the flames.

“You’re safe now, ma’am.” Izuku assured her. “I’ll protect you!”

“But who will protect you, little hero?” She asked as she placed one hand behind his neck and pressed a cloth to his face with the other.

Izuku looked down at her confusion. He dropped the woman, pulling the cloth away from his as he did so. He stumbled back a few feet, leaning onto one of the walls.

“I decided not to try disguising myself as someone you knew personally again. You figured me out too quickly last time.” The girl chuckled, sharp catlike teeth on full display.

“Toga.” Izuku groaned with realization as a drug induced sleep overtook him. Dabi caught the teen before his body hit the ground.

Dabi clutched the smaller male to his chest as he left the now empty alleyway, Toga following after him. The teen looked so adorably small in his arms. It was just so right .

The sidewalks were devoid of any passerby. No one else had heeded Toga’s cries for help, which was a big plus. Not that he had any qualms with killing some meddling citizens; it was just easier this way.

They made quick work of the journey back to the abandoned warehouse that doubled as one of the League’s bases. No one had really put much effort into sprucing up the place. The walls were still covered in the same amount of dirt and the windows just as grimy as the first day they had claimed the location.

Toga and him had agreed on this specific spot because of how little traffic it received from the other members of their organization. Just as they had hoped, no one else was there when he pushed apart the sliding front doors. The doors creaked, metal scraping against metal, as Toga closed the doors behind them.

There were a blanket and pillow on the ground maybe twenty feet away. Toga had told him earlier that she already prepared a space for them to break in their new little pet, but he had no idea just what that entailed until this moment. Ropes, knives and an assortment of toys were laid out across the edges of the blanket. He deposited the boy into the center of it all.

Dabi watched in silence as the teen’s chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. The student looked so calm, so peaceful in his slumber. The older male wondered how fast his demeanor would change when he woke up. Would the realization hit Midoriya in an instant like a runaway freight train or creep up on him like some stalking predator? How long would it take for the hopelessness, the finality of his situation to sink in?

Dabi pushed away his musings in favor of peeling off the teen’s clothes and then situated his own body behind the young adult. Toga bristled with excitement beside him as he threw a shirt over his shoulder.

“I’ll go get the cuffs.” She whispered before leaving the two alone.

By the time Toga returned, Izuku was completely naked with his hands and legs bound together by rope and a gag lodged in his mouth. Every inch of his skin on full display for their viewing. Dabi stared at the newly exposed flesh, fully entranced, as she traced a hand over his arms, lingering on the scars.

“Now for the finishing touches.” She giggled as she waved the cuffs in Dabi’s direct line of sight.

Dabi took the hint and leaned further into Midoriya’s space from behind the smaller body, holding up the teen’s wrists to the blonde. She positioned the cold metal around the student before pressing her fingers together. The cuffs snapped together with a loud clicking sound. Still, the boy did not stir.

“He’s ready.” She concluded. “Time to wake him up.”

Dabi hummed in agreement as the blonde grabbed a black bag from nearby. Deft hands rifled through the contents. A few seconds later, she pulled out a syringe. She uncapped it and plunged it into Izuku’s hip. The teen jolted awake a moment later.

It didn’t take long for the boy to begin struggling against his restraints. He twisted and turned from his position of limited mobility. Bright emerald eyes carved out of pure rage stared at his captors.

It didn't take long at all for Midoriya to recognize the gravity of his current circumstances. He was as sharp witted as he was beautiful. As special as his baby brother had proclaimed.

The sight of Midoriya’s continued struggles made Dabi’s pants tighten in a single, concentrated area. Toga walked in front of him and the student shifted his attention back and forth between the two villains.

“Let’s get started, shall we?” Dabi asked the teen, brushing a few stray curls off of Midoriya’s forehead. Midoriya recoiled from the touch as much as he could.

Dabi didn’t really expect an answer yet the smaller male yelled something in response. But it was indecipherable with the gag in his mouth. Dabi chuckled at the fiery response.

“I think I’d rather hear you after all.” Dabi mused. He unclasped the gag.

“You won’t get away with this! My friends will notice I’m missing and they’ll-.”

“Do what exactly?” Dabi interrupted the boy.

“Defeat you.”

“Mmm, but the heroes have been trying to do that for months now. What makes you so certain that your friends will save you now?”

A flash of uncertainty flitted over the boy’s face. It was brief, lasting maybe a fraction of a second, but still - it was there .

“They’ll find me.” Izuku murmured defiantly.

“But will they find you in time, Izu-kun?” Toga’s overly excited smile came into view.
