“Today class, we have a new challenge for you,” announced Mr Aizawa, gesturing out across the expanse of the U.S.J facility. “I know the last time you were here, things went wrong... badly wrong. But we have taken measures to make sure that won't happen again. That said, the danger on this task is going to be real, as today we are going to focus on your ability to rescue people in difficulties in all environments. Rescue is just as important a part of your job as fighting, and it's time we worked on that side of your training.” He paused for a brief yawn before continuing in his normal disinterested monotone. “You will be teamed up by drawing lots into groups of three, there will be one group of two to settle the numbers. Once you're in the group you will draw straws to pick who will be the rescuer and who will be the 'victims'. Following that, you'll be sent to random locations across the zones. If you are a victim you must do exactly what you would expect, you will not be allowed to use your quirks, you will be expected to stay roughly where you are and use only your basic mobility and voice to contact your rescuer. So don't get any ideas about rescuing yourselves. Rescuers can and should use their powers to their best ability whilst they are searching.” He yawned again and held up a box, “Draw lots then, let's find out who you're working with.”
Midoriya crowded around with the others, waiting for a chance to put his hand in the box and drawing out a single piece of paper.
“Your numbers will put you in a group, find the other students with matching numbers and you'll have your teams.”
Deku looked at his paper, seeing a neat little number three written there. He looked around at his classmates, who were mostly engaged in milling around calling for their numbers. He tried to spot anyone shouting for number threes, but couldn't hear anyone calling the number, so he started wandering around doing it instead, peeping at paper pieces as he moved, trying to see who he was with. He started to think he had been teamed up with himself when there was a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Looks like we'll be working together Midoriya!”
Deku looked up, smiling to see Iida standing over him, “Oh Iida!” he said with a happy grin. “You're a three too?”
Iida nodded, “Indeed, but it seems we are still missing one... have you seen any other threes?”
Izuku shook his head, “No I haven't. They've got to be around somewhere,” he said, and the two of them started to search among their classmates until a call finally drew their attention.
“Guys... you number three?”
Midoriya looked over, eager to see who was working with them, all but bouncing on the spot as he saw Todoroki was waving at them. Of course he would have bounced with excitement about getting to work with pretty much anyone in the class because that was his default reaction, but that was beside the point.
“Hey Shoto, that's us! All threes!” called Iida.
The three of them gathered, and Midoriya grinned, bouncing a little again as he looked at his partners. “Oh man this is gonna be great! We're gonna make the best team!”
Iida smiled, as always, pleased with the small man's enthusiasm, “Well, it rather depends on who is saving who, and where,” he chuckled a little, “ but I think we stand a good chance of success!”
Deku nodded enthusiastically and dashed off back over to the teacher, eager for the next step.
Mr Aizawa was patiently standing with three straws in his hand, and as each completed group came up and drew to get their roles, he would then take the straws back, shuffle them behind him and offer them to the next team.
Deku took his place in line, and the other two joined him at a slower pace, talking lightly about possible ways to make the challenge a success, but as they knew no details about where they would be, or who would be searching for who.
When it was their turn to choose, Eraserhead offered his hand to them, three straws innocently poking from the top of his fist. Midoriya reached forwards and took hold of the end of one, waiting for Iida and Todoroki to choose theirs before pulling, two short straws, one long, the latter pinched securely in Todoroki's fingers.
Deku grinned, offering the straw back to the teacher, looking up at Shoto, “Looks like you're going to be searching for us!” he said.
The selection process concluded shortly afterwards, and Mr Aizawa called for their attention again. “Good, here's the gear you will be using,” he put down a box, “Each one of the 'victims' should take one of the red wrist straps. On this strap is a tracker and an emergency beacon, the latter of which you may activate only if you find yourself in genuine life threatening danger, and there is no sign of help.”
Deku took one of these carefully, examining it. It was a chunky, heavy object, clearly tough and with a lot of complex electronics built into it. Midoriya was puzzled to see that it was actually very elaborate for something as simple as an emergency beacon.
Eraserhead did not seem to notice his confusion, or if he did, he did not react, and the teacher yawned before pointing to the remaining objects in the box, “Blue straps are for the rescuers, these contain a similar emergency beacon for if things go wrong, and a device which will, in a basic way, lead you towards your 'civilians.' Do not rely on the tracker too much though, as it is intentionally primitive. I expect you to use your senses and your powers to find them, and not rely too heavily on the technology. Please head off in your groups, at least two metres from any other group, and press the green buttons on your wristbands at the same time to sync your tracker up with your 'rescuer'...” He leaned back against the railing, his eyes half closing as he spoke once more. “Task will begin in three minutes, you will have six hours to rescue both of your 'civilians' before returning here to see who passed and who did not.”
“But... Mr Aizawa... how do we know what zones we are in, or where to go?” asked Deku, looking puzzled.
“Don't worry, that's taken care of, you can spend these three minutes talking strategy with your teammates.” The man pulled his sleeping bag out from beside one of the pillars, settling in it without another word and flopping down, looking as though he completely intended to take a nap. None of the class thought anything of this any more, and were more concerned with the cryptic suggestion that things were already taken care of.
Still, there was not a lot that they could do to change things, so they talked quietly among themselves and made sure that their wristbands were properly synced up, mostly agreeing on what they should shout to try and identify each other, what sounds would travel best over distance, and plans such as that.
Even Deku was not entirely certain how they were going to plan this as they knew almost nothing about where they would be or even whether the 'victims' would be together or separated. It worried him a little bit because there was still a tiny doubt in his mind about the security of this facility after what had happened before, but he had faith that the school would have triple secured it this time around.
As three minutes rolled past, a curious silence fell over the class and the sense of anticipation grew. A loud buzzer echoed out across the dome and suddenly all of their bracelets lit up, the red 'civilian' bracelets in particular glowed astoundingly bright all of a sudden, engulfing the students wearing them in a flash of light.
Deku shouted in surprise at this, reaching up to cover his eyes protectively as the wristband blinded him, a powerful tingling rushing through his body from the wristband, and he felt strangely weak all of a sudden... as though his powers were... distant. He tried to draw breath but the world around him felt suddenly cold and airless.
Feeling panic rising in his chest, he tried to locate the wristband with his other hand, hoping to remove it, but before he was able to do so, the feeling, as well as the brightness, faded, and he was left lying on the ground, panting desperately.
It took a few seconds for the feeling to return to his body, at which point he sat up with a little yelp as he realised he was laying on something cold and wet. “Snow?” he said quietly, looking around himself. It seemed like a LOT of snow... so perhaps he was stuck in the avalanche section of the U.S.J. Well that didn't seem fair! Some people got nice warm desert biomes or safe city... they got snowy avalanche?!
Deku winced a little as the cold air immediately snatched the warmth from his body, pulling his mask and hood firmly into place to conserve as much heat as possible. There was a LOT of snow around him... was it meant to look like an avalanche had just happened? Frowning, he picked himself up, his feet sinking a little into the snow, making him regret slightly that the feet of his costume were just trainers. Boots would have been better in this.
He clambered up a little from the indent his body had made in the snow, looking around... something was... off. He gave the wrist band a suspicious look... somehow it had warped or teleported him here, and done something else to him as well... his power felt distant, locked away... as though he could not use it. Perhaps the wristband caused some kind of block like Eraserhead’s quirk?
He looked around again, sensing something... else was wrong. In one direction all he could see was more snow, an enormous bank of it with rocks jutting out here and there... and on the other side he could see mostly... a downhill bank of snow blocking his view with rocks and lumps. Over that though, he could just make out the other side of the dome. But something was still WRONG! It was very hard to tell from such a snowbound perspective, but as he began to walk towards one of the huge boulders, hoping to climb it for a better look around, it began to dawn on him. He had looked up at the avalanche zone that morning. It was full of rocks... and snow, with one small area of a wrecked building. These boulders... were HUGE... he had never seen these before. Either there had been an avalanche that had uncovered them or... no, it had to be that.
He got a grip on the slippery rock and clambered up it, heaving himself to the top, and almost dropping right off at what he saw, letting out an involuntary yelp of confusion and horror. Ahead of him, concealed by the boulder and a bank of snow, was the wrecked building. Well... it was some distance away, but he could tell from here... that it was gigantic. Not in the sense that it was architecturally unusual... in the sense that it was TOO BIG.
Or was he too small...
Bending down, Deku scooped up a handful of snow and examined it... and realised immediately that he could see details within it that one normally could not in a handful of snow... like he was looking at it through a magnifying glass. But he was not... it was just... a tiny amount of normal sized snow... in his tiny hands.
Skepticism had been protecting his mind up until this point, but this discovery hit hard, and he looked at the wristband, thinking he should activate his emergency beacon... but... he stopped a millimetre from it, “No... this might be what he meant when he said we would ‘need’ rescuing...” Deku said to himself, not wanting to sound the alarm over something intentional.
Still... it felt like a dangerous trick... considering what had happened at the U.S.J before.
He was used to feeling small, but this was a new and entirely unwelcome sensation, and Midoriya hugged himself nervously for a moment before pulling his mask down and taking a breath to shout. “TODOROKI! IIDA!” there was no answer, his voice seemed to dull in the soft snow, and he frowned. They had said the victims could do anything they would normally be able to do as civilians, and finding shelter from the elements was the first thing he would do. The building, though ruined, was shelter, and was a landmark that Todoroki was BOUND to search. Did the man know to look for them at this size? Surely not... unless the rescuers had been given additional details after the others had been ‘teleported’...
Deciding now was not the time to consider it, Deku got himself moving. He had no powers but his body was strong, and he made good time, even on the uneven surface of the snow. His new size had clearly reduced his weight in accordance with how much smaller he had become, allowing him to dash over the surface of the snow pretty easily without sinking as long as he was quick, and did not dawdle on any one spot.
He was out of breath by the time he had covered the distance to the building, finding that whatever extra stamina his quirk granted him was gone too. Still, he had made it, and stopped beside the entrance. One of the doors had been blasted off by snow from the inside, so clearly there was going to be some of it indoors, but the other door was intact, making him think that perhaps there was at least a little space that was useable as shelter. He clambered up the bank of snow in front of the burst door, and then down the side of it, dropping to the concrete flooring inside the building. He felt immediately warmer... as though just having walls around him sheltered him from a bit of the cold, but it was still less than ideal. There was about a four or five metre space inside the building that wasn’t completely full of snow. All the windows were blasted out and there did not appear to be anything visible that he could use to keep himself better covered from the cold. He was a little worried... but he knew Todoroki was going to be one of the quickest and most determined rescuers that they could have asked for, and cold would not bother him in the slightest.
Cheered by this, he started to jog slowly back and forth along the walls, staying where it was sheltered, and keeping himself moving to stay warm, but without burning too much of his energy. Just had to keep safe whilst he waited. He would occasionally go to the door and shout for the others, but did not receive any answer.
Boy... he hoped Iida was alright.
Deku kept this up for around an hour before he heard a noise in the distance... crunching footsteps in the snow... someone running...
He didn’t even care any more if it was his designated rescuer, he would take the help of literally anyone. He rushed to the door, standing on the snow to peer out, and cupped his hands around his mouth, shouting with all the breath and volume that he could muster. “TODOROKIIIIII!” he waited... unable to hear the footsteps any more... had they passed him? “TODOROKI! IIDA! ANYONE?!” his voice cracked and his throat ached from shouting so loudly. “PLEASE! ANYBODY!”
The crunching was back... louder, more intense, someone was approaching!
Deku could have cried in relief, but he gulped down his emotions and kept shouting desperately, his voice catching in his throat as the source of the noise came into view. It was Todoroki alright... following his voice... but... Midoriya had not realised how BIG the man would seem to him. The figure dashing towards him made some small part of the tiny man feel a rush of primal fear... as though he was seeing a huge predator running right at him. He felt a shiver run through his tiny form. But after a moment, he shook his head a little... this was not a danger, this was one of his classmates, someone he knew he could trust, someone who had been sent to help him!
He raised both arms and waved them over his head, “SHOTO!” he called, “DOWN HERE!”
The man slowed his approach, looking puzzled, his mismatched eyes flicking around the dark, empty windows of the building... it was clear he had heard Deku but not seen him yet.
“DOWN HERE!” the tiny man bounced in place on the soft snow, sinking a little on landing.
Finally, the gaze fell on him, and the look of confusion deepened. “Midoriya?!”
“Yes! Shoto it’s me!”
The man came forwards, “What... how...?”
Deku sighed, hugging himself, “I assume this is what they meant when they said we would actually need rescuing...”
Shoto frowned, “That... definitely makes you need help a lot more...”
“It gets worse,” said Deku, “My quirk is gone. Well... not gone, locked away somehow... like when Mr Aizawa uses his quirk on us.”
Shoto looked thoughtful. “Have you seen Iida?”
Deku shook his head, “No sign of him.”
Todoroki looked worried, “We need to find him... not just because time is passing, but because it is really really cold right now.”
Deku nodded, his breath coming out in a little puff of steam as he gave a laugh, “I noticed...”
Shoto frowned a little, “Are you okay?”
“Well... I’ve been better...” admitted Deku, “I’ve been jogging around to keep warm, but it is really really hard to stay that way at this size.”
Todoroki frowned, reaching his hands gently out to Deku, “Come here...” he pulled the glove off one hand and offered it gently to the small man.
Apprehensive for some reason about putting himself into the hands of something so huge, Deku frowned a little, hesitating, but ultimately his trust in his classmate won out, and he moved forwards, carefully stepping up into the hand.
Right away, he noticed that it was radiating warmth... Shoto was using his quirk to give off heat for him! He knelt down on the hand, drawn in by the temperature of the flesh, eager to restore his own bodyheat a little. He let out a small noise of relief at the sensation of actual warmth, huddling down in a little ball.
Todoroki, clearly as nervous as he was, delicately cupped his hands around the small man, creating a much closer bubble of heat. “I'm going to keep searching for Iida,” he said, holding the tiny form close to his chest, protectively between his hands.
“Okay... I'll help once I get warm!” called Deku, not wanting to just sit and watch, as much as he wanted to snuggle up in this warm little cave and sleep, he had to help. But he needed to restore a bit of warmth to himself first.
Todoroki nodded, and recommenced his search, only moving a lot more slowly now. Partly because he knew now that what he was searching for was a lot harder to spot than he had thought, and partly because he did not want to risk dropping Deku. “Why... of all colour outfit for Iida to have, did it have to be white, in the snow...” he muttered softly as he looked around, wondering just how he was going to spot the man. Of all the luck, they had ended up in the avalanche region.
Deku allowed himself to soak up a bit of warmth, reviving himself a little bit, before he sat up, and started pawing and pressing at the hands. “Can I help look now?” he called, not wanting to sit idle.
“Alright, but I need you to be careful,” Shoto agreed, gently opening his hands.
Deku gasped a tiny bit as the warm air around him was snatched away by this, but quickly fought down his desire to go back into hiding, and sat up carefully.
“Here...” Shoto gently lifted him up onto his shoulder, and helped the tiny man to tuck his legs underneath the strap on his shoulder. “You think you'll be safe there?”
“Yeah, this is great, I have a good view from here,” he said, settling into this new position.
“Alright, well, let me know if you see anything, or if you start to get cold again. We will all fail the assignment if you freeze.”
“Okay,” agreed Deku, and held onto the strap over his legs as Shoto continued his walk through the snow.
Occasionally one or both of them would call out for Iida, trying to spot the man anywhere on the snow. It was difficult though, as something so small could be hidden behind every stone, or in any small indent in the snow itself. There was an entire mountainside to search, one tiny man to find, and the only direction they had was the vague guide that Shoto's tracker wristband was offering them. Which was simply a light on the band giving them a rough direction of higher up the side of the mountain.
They followed it nonetheless though, trying to seek out the source of the signal, however vague the direction.
It was Deku's sharp eyes that spotted a tiny opening in the snow that looked disturbed, more recent than the rest of the markings in the spft surface, “Shoto! Stop!” he called, turning towards the man's ear, and holding onto the huge collar as the enormous body came to an abrupt halt, stunning him with the power and momentum that it held.
“Did you see something?” asked the larger student, looking around.
“Down there,” said the tiny man, pointing, “The snow has been disturbed by something small!”
Shoto saw this, and nodded, moving to the spot that Deku was pointing at, seeing the same tiny indent in the snow, like someone had dug themselves a shelter. “Iida?” he called, kneeling down, using a hand to gently free Deku from his shoulder as he felt the tiny man squirm for freedom.
As soon as his red sneakers touched the ground, Midoriya bounded forwards, ignoring the cold snow as he dropped to his knees and crawled into the opening. “Iida!” he saw the man huddled into a ball, shivering. “Shoto he's here!” he grabbed his friend, dragging him to the opening of the cave, where Todoroki's hand joined them, quickly scooping the small man up into a warm grip.
Deku scurried out of the shelter after him, bouncing in the snow for a moment or two, trying to see if he was okay.
Shoto gently examined Iida, and though he was very pale, the fact that he was still shivering meant that hypothermia had not set in yet, he was just very very cold. Curling the class rep into his hands, Shoto gently cupped them around the small form, the same way he had with Deku, and began to emit heat, but gently. He knew better than to suddenly put too much warmth into the man. In reality what he was exposing Iida to was actually closer to 'comfortable' room temperature than true heat.
“Is he okay?” Deku hopped up, sprawling on Shoto's thigh.
“He's alright, give me a moment here... he's not succumbed to hypothermia, so it's not an emergency. He'll come around in a minute or two...”
Deku found his feet, and shifted impatiently from foot to foot as he waited, worried for his friend.
Probably four or five minutes later, Shoto felt stirring between his hands, and lifted one finger to peep inside, “Iida? You feeling better?”
“Shoto... you found me...” the man's voice was a little hoarse, but quite audible. “Midoriya... he's like this too! We have to find him!”
Deku's cheeks flushed a little bit as he heard this. Even when he was just coming out of a very dangerous cold sleep, Iida's first thoughts were for the welfare of someone else.
“Midoriya is fine Iida, I found him first, we're more worried about you.”
“You found him? Oh... good...”
Shoto smiled, lowering his hands and opening them up a bit beside Deku, so that he could crawl onto the warm palms with Iida. “Iida... are you okay? What happened?”
“I... I searched for you two for some time... until I got too cold, had to make a shelter to contain what little bodyheat I had...”
Deku nodded. He was lucky to have found the building to serve as a shelter for himself before he had grown too cold. “Good thing we found you when we did...”
Iida nodded weakly, looking up at him. “Good thing Shoto was the one rescuing us... our very own walking heater.”
Deku chuckled, sensing that the man was becoming a bit more himself as he warmed up. “Yeah, but... how about this for keeping us as 'victims' huh? No powers... five or six inches tall... seems a bit extreme doesn't it?”
“Given recent events at this very location, I agree...” said Iida, sitting up, “It does seem to be asking for trouble to create a situation like this, with most of the class this vulnerable.”
Deku sighed, looking around a bit nervously. “I think we should get back to the professor. As quickly as we can...”
Shoto nodded, “It's a bit of a hike, but we have plenty of time to make it. I could get there a lot faster but not without risking dropping you guys. None of us are really equipped for people carrying.”
Iida sighed, “I feel that this was not a very well thought-out training operation...”
Deku nodded, having to agree whether he liked to or not. “I think we should start moving back to base like Mr Aizawa said, I don't even care if we get a good grade or not, I just want to be somewhere safe again.”
Both Shoto and Iida nodded in agreement, and Shoto turned to begin the long walk back, generating heat from his hands, just enough to keep the two small men from getting too cold.
They travelled swiftly, or at least, as swiftly as was safe, for a short while, descending from the higher areas, all hoping to get to somewhere a bit warmer soon.
They were just approaching a small canyon when there was a faint, distant rumble. “What the...” Shoto looked upwards nervously, his eyes narrowing immediately as he saw a rush of whiteness blasting down the side of the mountain towards them. “Oh come on... come ON...” he turned towards the chasm, knowing there was no point running. “Guys I need you to hang on,” he quickly shoved Deku under one of his shoulder straps, and Iida underneath the other. “Hang on really really well...” There was no way he was outrunning an avalanche, he would have to hide from the worst of it.
Trusting the other two to hold on, he lowered himself off the edge of the chasm, creating handholds and footholds for himself using ice to clamber under the overhang. The distant rumbling quickly escalated to a roar, and Shoto only just had time to get out of the way as the ground began to shake, and snow filled the air just feet from them, pouring off the edge of the cliff.
Shouting in fear, Shoto moved back from it by locking his hands in ice against the cliff, doing the same with his feet to guarantee he was securely in place. He was glad to see the two smaller men were hanging onto his shoulders firmly and for dear life. He did not have the spare hands to secure them, so staying where they were was down to their ability to hang on.
The roar of the avalanche passed relatively quickly, crashing down into the bottom of the chasm, leaving them dangling against the bare cliff face, panting but alive.
“Shoto... don't move...” said Iida after a moment. “Do not... move...”
“Why?” asked Todoroki, freezing up.
“The cliff... the overhang...” Deku pointed.
Shoto looked up, seeing that a huge crack had appeared in the rock, inches from where the ice grips that were holding his hands were. “Oh no...” he looked down. Below them lay jagged rocks... the bottom of the chasm, filled with snow now, but he could still see the sharp points sticking up through it. He could, in a normal circumstance, generate an ice slope over them to slide down and land safely... but he was worried doing so would be extremely dangerous to the others, as he would need his hands, and the shoulder straps could only do so much. They were a long way up, they would have to fall a certain distance before he would be able to use his hands to generate an ice slide... the landing would be harsh no matter how fast he did it. There was no way he could pull it off without dislodging and hurting them. “Okay... we... we have to think about this... fast... I can get myself a safe landing, but if I try, I'm worried you two can't take it... you'll be shaken loose for sure. It won't be good.”
“Okay... so... attach us somehow... with ice? You can freeze us to your shoulders...?” suggested Deku.
“No. For two reasons. First of all, I can't freeze you with any kind of delicacy without my hands, and secondly there's no guarantee I won't land on you if I fall wrong.”
“So... we need somewhere shielded but attached to you,” said Iida, staring up at the crack in the stone.
“Ideally yes,” said Shoto. “Where I can't fall on you as I drop.”
“That's... impossible...” said Deku, frowning, looking hopeless. “If you can't use your ice we can't make a place like that!”
“We can't make one...” said Iida thoughtfully. “But one already exists... If it is possible...”
“What, I'll take anything right now if you have an idea Iida,” said Shoto, desperate.
“Inside your body,” Iida did not sound thrilled with the statement coming from his own lips. “It's secure from fall damage, as long as you are, we can't be dropped or separated from you... and... if it was only for a couple of minutes, I am confident we would be safe.”
Shoto frowned, feeling a bit unwell at the thought. “You want me to eat you?”
“Is it not exactly what you asked for?”
“Well yeah but... no, it also isn't...” admitted the man. “I don't want to hurt you.”
“If you allow yourself to fall, and then immediately throw us up, we will not have time to run out of air, or suffer damage from stomach acids... theoretically you do not even need to swallow Midoriya. He's so small that he would be safe in your mouth... I on the other hand, have no alternative.”
Shoto looked sick, glancing from one of them, to the other, “Deku? What do you say?” he asked, rather hoping for the small man to refuse.
“I... I don't want to but... how else can we survive this?”
“I don't know,” said Shoto, “And I don't think we have a lot of time to think up alternatives.”
“No, we don't... it would be best to run with this plan,” said Iida, working to get himself loose from the straps, but delicate in his movement, as though even his tiny weight might dislodge things. “Can you manage this Shoto?” he asked, feeling himself rather large for this particular venture.
“I'll have to,” said the other man, sighing.
Iida nodded nervously, and carefully stood up beside Todoroki's head, “Alright... if you can turn your head towards me...” He trailed off as the huge man did as he asked, and after a moment of hesitation, the huge mouth opened before him.
Iida felt his confidence evaporate at this view, something deep inside him terrified as he was confronted with the huge maw of something a lot larger than himself. Still... he was expected to do this... it was only right that he go first, as he could not ask Deku to do so. It had been his idea. “Right...” he managed, nervously leaning forwards, “Here we go then...” he extended his hands, and delicately, carefully laid them on the tongue. Immediately, they sank in, and he felt a rush of intense warmth wash over him as Shoto exhaled.
That, in itself, made him feel better. The air outside was absolutely freezing still, and receiving such an invitation of warmth soothed his previous instinct of fear. He leaned on his hands, and pulled himself upwards and inwards, huffing as his chest squashed into the soft tongue. It did feel extremely strange but Shoto handled it well, not trying to shove him back out on instinct or anything like that, which was a relief... as he was uncomfortably aware that they were dangling over certain death right at that that moment.
Taking a slow breath, he heaved himself further forwards, reaching out and grabbing a handhold on a molar, using it to pull himself in further, kicking his legs in thin air outside, trying to generate some imaginary force inwards.
Still, Todoroki patiently took the strangeness, and Iida was able to heave himself in once more with his grip on the tooth before he felt the muscles around him tense up. “You okay Shoto?” he asked, a little nervous. There was obviously no verbal reply, so his response came in the form of an action instead, the world suddenly tilting heavily around him. He was unable to stop himself from sliding now, and a dim, pink tunnel opened up before him in the limited light that could make it past him. He let out an involuntary shout of fear at this, but his arms were stretched out before him from his efforts to lift himself inside, so he had no ability to brace himself as a loud, wet sound echoed through the area, and he was dragged downwards.
