Work Text:

Arrows

"Nana... Do you think the brilliance inside us are being represented by our weapons?"

"Hmm, I think so. Why did you ask?" Nana looked at me questioningly.

"If that's the case, then you're really a brilliant stage girl Nana." Junna frowned. "And as for me..."

Nana is suddenly in front of her, grasping her hands. "Your way of thinking is on the negative side Junna-chan. For me, when you use your weapon, it's like stars ready to light up the sky. When it falls, it became shooting stars ready to grant the wishes of those who saw it, just like our play Starlight." Nana gently looked at me, "It suits you the best Junna-chan. Because to me, you are a star." Tears fall from Junna's eyes as Nana wrapped her arms around her.

When Nana and Junna entered their dorm, loud squeals greeted them. They looked at the source of noise and they were surprised when they saw everyone holding a paper, a familiar sign telling them to look up. When they did, a green object can be seen dangling above them.

Her roommate shrieked and she laughed at the shenanigans of her friends. She pecks Junna on the cheek and the girl combusted. "We must follow the tradition, Junna-chan~"

Butterflies

Junna woke up and come face to face with a sleeping Nana. Her lover's face is making a funny expression and a little bit of drool at the side of her mouth.

Her expressions may be silly but it still sends fluttering feelings in her stomach.

Nana's first impression on Junna is the "stoic" type, those people who are hard to get close to. She's proven correct when said girl became her roommate and they only exchange greetings.

She accepted that they will never get along.

It changed when Junna helped the lonely kid in the kindergarten, a gentle smile appeared on her normally neutral face. When the child began to sing with Junna's help. Nana, for the first time, encountered a strange feeling inside her body that makes her fuzzy.

Change

"Should I get the strawberry-flavored drink, Junna-chan?"

"Nope."

Nana looks confused, "Eh? I thought you were thirsty?"

Junna pecks Nana in the lips. "I am, but I want the banana-flavored one. It's my new favorite."

Her girlfriend dropped the coin from her hands. Junna giggled at the sight.

It's subtle, but Nana can tell when Junna is different from before. She's grown accustomed to the girl that she knew her every actions, both big and small.

When Junna called Karen by her first name, alarm bells suddenly rang from her mind. And she understands...

'My play is ending, isn't it?'

Dark

Junna tried to hide it but just like Maya and Claudine, she's scared too. After the horror movie marathon, she keeps tossing and turning in her bed because the images of those creatures are occupying her mind. It worsens when the lights are out too, and the only source of it is the window in their room.

A hand touch her shoulders and she screamed. "Junna-chan, calm down it's just me!" When she heard the familiar voice, she grabbed the hand touching her and pulled Nana in her bed.

Nana yelped but when she noticed how bad Junna is shaking, she quickly wrapped her arms to the other girl and began soothing her.

'You're not good enough.'
'Everyone will leave you.'
'No one will stay.'

These thoughts are consuming my mind again. When will this stop anyways?

"I'm not good enough." I whispered.

"You are to me." 'Huh?'

"Everyone will leave me." "No, not everyone."

"No one will stay." "I will."

"Really?"

I opened my eyes and emeralds greeted me. She cupped my cheek and tenderly stroked it. "I promise."

Emotions

Passion is what I feel when Nana and I delivered our lines together, creating a harmony that only the two of us can produce.

Desire is what I feel when her mouth pressed hot kisses all over my body and I crave for more, more and more.

Solitude is what I feel before Junna entered my life, offering me the one thing I longed for.

Bond is what we share that I will never give up to anybody else, she was mine and it will always be like that.

Fall

"What is wrong with you, Nana?" Junna asked, her weapons far from reach and her cape is on the floor.

Her opponent looked at her with emotionless eyes, "It must be done, Junna-chan. I'm sorry." Her final words as the curtains hid her from Junna's view.

Nana's favorite season is autumn. Trees are displaying a unique colour from their natural green ones and the cool breeze brushed her body. Most of all...

"Nana, are you alright?" Junna asked. Nana can see her brows are furrowing worriedly.

She looked at their intertwined hands and lifted it. She placed a kiss to the back of Junna's hand and smiled when a familiar red can be seen in her lover's face. "There's nothing wrong Junna-chan, just thinking that I love autumn so much."

'And the feeling of your warm hands in mine'.

Gift

"Merry Christmas, Junna-chan!" Someone greeted her. When she turned around, her mind went blank.

Nana is wearing a reindeer costume, a small wrapped box in her hand. "Here Junna-chan, for being a good girl!"

Junna snapped out of her daze and an idea popped in her head. She walks up to Nana and began untying the ribbon on the girl's neck.

"J-junna-chan?!"

"You said I'm a good girl right? I'm just receiving my present, that's all." She dropped the ribbon and captured Nana's lips.

"Are these glasses?"

"They're frogs! Sure the shapes are a bit disoriented but glasses?!" She laughed when she saw the embarrassed look on her girlfriend's face.

"I'm just kidding, Junna-chan~ Don't you remember that joke I said to you last valentines?" Nana popped the cookies inside her mouth and she savors the sweet taste. "Thank you, Junna-chan."

Hands

'So to properly demonstrate my lines, I should be more forceful.' I'm currently taking notes because there is a play coming up and I want to do well.

Suddenly, something calloused but soft covered my eyes. "Time for a break, Junna-chan~"

I sighed but I relented. I needed a break anyway.

It glides expertly to the keys of the piano, producing a melodious sound that calms my nerves. I took a photo, wanting to keep the memory forever.

She's too engrossed playing that she squeaked in surprise when I covered it with my own. I can feel her hands began to relax as she continues her piece, my fingers above her.

Irresistible

"Junna-chan pleaseeeeeeee."

"No Nana, pets are not allowed in the dorm and you know it."

"I'll just buy a dog house then and place it outside the dorm. Junna-chan do you really not want to?"

Junna is bombarded not just by one puppy eyes, but another set of puppy eyes and it's coming from her roommate. Her eyebrows twitched from the sight and only sighed, accepting her defeat.

"Fine."

"Yay!"

"You're lucky the puppy is cute."

'Nana is also cute'. Junna's face flushed and Nana wonders if she is sick.

"Nana, can you zip the back? I can't reach it." Nana turned to her girlfriend and felt her mouth become dry when her eyes landed on Junna's bare back. She goes to where Junna is standing and hugs the girl from behind, her teeth started biting her girlfriend's nape.

Junna moaned but she pinched the hand on her waist. "I thought you want us to go on a date?"

"Changed my mind." Instead of doing what Junna asked her to, she lowered the dress and her girlfriend didn't protest.

Jealousy

Ever since their revue ended with Seiran, Nana is on her phone talking everyday with Honami-san. When Nana laugh or giggle, she can feel needles prickling her heart. She hated feeling this way. Nana deserves all the support she's getting and she's not the only one who can see how amazing Nana is. When she saw the blush painted in Nana's face, she turned to the other side of her bed and succumb to her emotions.

(Unbeknownst to her, Hisame is only telling Nana that she and Koharu began dating and doesn't have any idea what to do, that's why the girl keeps giggling. Nana blushed because Hisame asked a question, "So, when will you ask Hoshimi-san out?")

100th Seisho Festival is approaching, a new script is made. She lost a revue. And Nana feels scared.

Ever since Hikari-chan transferred, everything is spiralling out of control from Nana's hand. She's desperately grasping that's why when Junna confronts her, everything spilled from her mouth. She remembers the changes and a dark look enters her eyes when an auburn-haired girl called her Junna a sickening nickname. "I will not allow my Junna-chan be called JunJun."

Kabedon

Why am I in this situation again? Junna couldn't help but asked herself.

Futaba pushed the two of them inside the closet while Kaoruko muttered a "see you in seven minutes~" and now Nana and her are trapped. Nana is leaning at the back of the closet while Junna placed both of her arms on the wall, trapping Nana inside her.

Junna blushed hard when she realized the implication of their position. She didn't dare to move, afraid of what will happen if she did. Nana didn't share her sentiments and decided to press closer, "Something is poking my back." She said and Junna tried her best to calm her heart.

"You can't pull it off Junna-chan, admit it." Irritation can be seen on my girlfriend's face and I smirked. I'm currently pinning Junna-chan on the wall. She attempted to catch me off-guard by slamming the wall but I gripped her arms and reverse our situation.

Suddenly, the irritation is gone, replaced by a seductive look. 'That's not good'.

"Don't care, I got what I wanted anyways." She grabbed my tie and crashed her lips to mine.

Loneliness

Junna accepted a long time ago that she will be alone for the rest of the school year. She's not the type to make friends and it didn't bother her, but something stung when she saw other people interact with each other.

Then a certain banana-haired girl entered the picture and she doesn't want to think what her life will become if Nana is not by her side, filling the hole in her heart that longed for companionship.

"Just like what you said to me in the class president election, you can rely on me too Nana."

She thought she will be the one to initiate the first name basis between them. It's only natural since she's the friendlier one between her and Junna.

"That's right! Someone needs to take over the fork, I'm going to handle it." She stands up. Junna began protesting but she insists. She walked inside and clutched her chest, not because of pain, but because of how light it feels.

"I guess I'm not alone anymore."

Mask

"You know Hoshimi-han if you will be Christine, I'm 100% sure you will choose the Phantom over Raoul."

I spit the strawberry juice I'm drinking. "What?"

Instead of her normal grin, Kaoruko is having a serious expression for once. "Unlike the original Christine whose innocent, you're smart and will not be swayed by the phantom's deceits. Instead, you will break their facade and try to understand the phantom's personality. Plus, Raoul is the typical 'heroic' type and I can say that is so not your taste."

"What makes you say that?"

The grin on Kaoruko is back, "Just my speculation, I mean you already have your own version of 'Phantom' and 'Raoul' over there." She then points her fingers to the two figures at the back. Nana noticed we were looking and waved at us. I dropped my drink.

"Yeap, definitely the mysterious Phantom."

"Nana?"

'No, she's not supposed to see me like this.' I wiped my tears away. I turned around and forced a smile, "Do you need anything, Junna-chan?"

It only takes three strides and Junna is suddenly in front of her.

"Junna-" she placed a finger to my lips. "You don't have to say anything you're not ready yet. I won't force you." She then wrapped her arms around my body.

"It'll be okay, Nana."

My defenses crumbled then and there.

Name

Nana has an unintentional habit whenever she sleeps.

"Junna..."

She's always calling me in her slumber.

Plain, simple and without honorifics. It may be a small change, but it's enough to make my heart soar.

Every time Nana revert back to the start, a refreshing feeling hits her. That's why she believes she's doing the right thing by protecting everyone. For her, this is what she wants.

"Let's get along, Daiba-san." A monotonous voice entered her ears.

She expected this greeting from her roommate because it's the very first string of words Junna said to her. She's okay with it.

But she will never get used to how wrong it feels.

"Sure, Hoshimi-san."

Obstacle

"Don't you ever do something like this again!"

"Junna-chan, wait!"

I slammed the door before Nana can enter our room. I know I'm not good at swimming that's why I'm practicing! Just a little more and I know I can...

"You? A stage girl? You can't be serious, Junna!" 'No stop.'

"You don't have what it takes, honey... why don't you just follow your dad's work?" 'Shut up, shut up shut up!'

"I thought it might be better to reduce some of Junna-chan's appearances so she doesn't tire herself out so much."

Bitter tears are flowing freely from my eyes.

'In your eyes too, huh?'

"For the next Starlight I'm going to aim for the lead." Junna suddenly declared to me after our performance of our first ever play.

"We can't let Tendo-san and Saijou-san be the Claire and Flora again, that's why..." She put her hands to her chest. "I'll do my best to catch up to all of you and when that happens, let's audition one more time for the lead, Nana." She's smiling to me, her face full of determination.

A smile grazed my lips, "Of course, Junna-chan."

Flashes of the underground revue enters my mind.

'I'm sorry...'

Photo

Junna noticed something when she's checking Nana's gallery. There's Maya and Claudine dancing in the practice room. Futaba giving Kaoruko a back massage. Karen, Hikari and Mahiru are sleeping in the common room.

She's also there. Practicing the piano, reading books, drinking her favorite drink. It makes her happy, but she's always alone.

That's why when she saw the familiar object on Nana's hands, she grabbed the phone, changed its settings so the camera will be on the front and positioned herself beside Nana.

She clicks the button and her smile get bigger when she saw the result. She handed the phone back to its owner, "A new memory for us, Nana. And this time, with you in it."

Nana didn't have this habit of taking pictures before. For her, there's no memorable moment in her life that is worth to keep anyway.

But when she saw the shine in Junna's eyes for the first time when they were stargazing during their camp, the moonlight brings a soft glow to the girl in front of her. She was in awe that she can't help but lift her phone and capture the moment.

It's her wallpaper for the rest of the school year before the loops started.

Quote

Junna loves Shakespeare, every words from the playwright are inspirations for her to do better as a stage girl that she memorized some of the lines.

She loves it even more when she have one willing audience to listen to her talk about it. And when she recites one to Nana and saw the blush coating the girl's face, she couldn't be more happier.

She love watching Junna. From the way she sings, dances and any actions she performs. What captivated her the most is the girl has vast knowledge about Shakespeare's works and recites a few from the playwright.

But when Junna recites her own lines the day she lost the revue to Karen and wrapped her arms to Nana, this is the moment she was reminded by that one thing she keeps denying from Junna and herself.

And when she decided to return the hug and felt the beat of Junna's heart, she finally accepted that she's fallen for the girl more than she ever realized.

Ring

"Does the future still scare you, Nana?" Said girl furrowed her brows by the unexpected question, but Junna can see the cogs in her head are turning.

Nana took a deep breath but a smile is grazing her lips, "A little bit but at the same time, I'm looking forward to it because you're here with me, Junna-chan."

"Well then..." I kneel down in front of the girl I want to spend my life with. Nana covers her mouth as I present her a box.

"Let's look forward to the future together Nana, as partners for life."

It chimes. It is not noticeable when there are so many things noisier but she's grown familiar to the sound. When she heard it there is a sense of peace in her, knowing that the owner of that sound is near.

"I still don't know how you can detect me, Nana." That owner is currently pouting and Nana released a giggle. She tucks Junna's hair behind her ear and places a kiss to the bells, creating that familiar clink again.

"Something is helping me, that's all."

Script

"From what I can see, Nana's Christine reminds me of you Junna." Junna blushed when she heard Claudine uttered those words.

"Oh well, this talk about plays makes me want to practice again. Don't think too hard about what I said, it's just my thought."

A memory flashed through Junna's mind. 'I can see that you relate yourself to the Phantom, Nana.'

If Nana relates herself to the Phantom... And Phantom is pining for Christine... Does that mean...

Junna screamed and was kicked out in the library.

"I'm in love with you, Nana."

Nana should be jumping in joy, pulling Junna closer to her and returning her feelings. She wanted to accept the love Junna is offering to her.

But she can't let go of her Starlight.

So instead of jumping in joy, she lowered her head. Instead of pulling Junna closer to her, she took a step back. Instead of returning her feelings, she apologized. She's declining the promise of a good future just for the sake of protecting her friends.

Nana heard a muffled cry and her heart shattered into pieces. "I-i'm sorry to bother you, Nana. I should go." Junna walks out of the room. Nana never follows her when she did that. She dropped to her knees, tears are flowing freely from her eyes, finally allowing her feelings in the open.

"I love you too, Junna-chan."

Tickle

"Are you sure you're not faking it, Junna-chan?" She asked me while poking my feet.

"For the last time no, I'm not."

Nana pouted, "Every person has a sensitive spot, why can't I find yours?"

Another secret I'm not telling Nana is that when we happen to sleep together, I feel my body tingling every time her breath reached my ears. Maybe Nana will figure it out someday but for now...

"Maybe I'm a special case, Nana." I stuck my tongue at her.

"Nana, I heard a rumor from Class B."

"Hmm? What is it, Junna-chan?"

A finger suddenly poke me in the stomach and I squirmed. 'This is not good'.

Junna quickly pinned me down the floor and attack my sides. Laughter filled the air of our room.

Umbrella

Junna sighed. 'I should've watch the weather forecast'. The rain is falling and it looks like it will not stop any minute.

'Oh well, I'll just quickly change into something else when I get back.'

She stepped forward, accepting her fate but she's surprised when the rain is not falling on her. She looked up and saw an object above her. "It's not a good idea to walk in the rain, Junna-chan."

I turned to look at the voice and I rubbed the back of my head. "Sorry about that, Nana."

It's raining but little Nana doesn't care. She ran away from home because her parents are fighting over things she can't understand. She goes to her favorite playground and sit down on the swing.

Suddenly, she can't feel the rain anymore and when she looks up, a pair of green eyes greeted her. "Daddy said it's bad for kids to stay out of the rain because we get sick easily." The girl said.

"I don't care if I get sick. No one will worry anyway." Nana stubbornly said. The girl is stubborn too, "That's not true! I will worry about you." Nana looked up, "Really?"

The girl grinned and nodded her head. She extends her hand to Nana, "Junna. And yours?"

"I'm Nana, nice to meet you Junna-chan."

Valentines

"H-hoshimi-san, Happy Valentines!" A girl I didn't know handed me a box of chocolates. "I-I know we haven't talked at all but I find you cute and smart that's why I'm wondering if you want to - "

Arms are suddenly wrapped around my waist. "We can agree that Junna-chan is cute and smart but she's taken already so I'm sorry." Nana is polite when she said that but I can detect hostility underneath her words.

The girl squeaked and sprinted off.

"I can refuse her on my own, Nana. You don't have to scare her away." I broke from the hug and pinched her cheeks. Nana pouted so I peck her lips. She instantly brightens and locks me in a hug again. "I know, but I can't help it." I laughed and pulled her closer. "I'm only yours, Nana. Don't worry."

"So, how does it taste?"

Junna-chan made a valentines chocolate causing me to feel giddy. She's looking really nervous right now at the same time curious.

An idea entered in my mind.

I popped a chocolate inside my mouth and pressed my lips to hers. She yelped and I used the opportunity to shove the chocolate in her mouth. I pulled back and licked my lips.

"It's sweet~"

Winter

"Achoo!"

"Are you sure you're okay, Junna-chan?"

"Don't worry, Nana. It's just a cold. I'm sure I'll be - Achoo!" I rubbed my nose. 'This is so irritating'.

"I really need to shop for warmer clothes."

Nana seems to be in deep thought, she suddenly hugged and trapped me with her coat.

"N-nana!?"

"There~ now you'll be warm."

"Are you sure you'll only wear a scarf Nana? It's really cold out there."

Nana nodded her head, "Of course Junna-chan. I love the cold remember?"

Junna sighed, "I still think you need more than that."

Nana giggled and pecked her girlfriend's lips, Junna flushed from the contact. "There you go, now I'll be warm for the rest of our walk."

X

We are in the changing room for our costume fitting when Karen saw something, "Banana, what are those marks on your back?"

Nana yelped, she tried to cover her back but Karen already realized what it is, "Are those scratches?"

I choked on my water and Nana spluttered. I turned around and my face becomes the shade of a tomato. Nana's back is full of cross-shaped lines. Memories of last night came back full force in my mind.

"Oho~ Banana-han and Hoshimi-han just had a 'very' exciting night Karen-han."

Nana became rigid. Karen is still clueless, "Eeeeh? That looks painful Banana, where did you get it?"

Hanayagi-san bursted out laughing, "Karen-han don't ever change. Hoshimi-han a little advice, cut your fingernails okay?"

I threw the bottled water at the laughing gremlin.

When Junna saw my scores in Math, I know I'm in big trouble. She quickly dragged me to our room, grabbed her notes from class and began drilling me every lessons.

We've been studying for three hours now and one more talk about radicals, I might explode. "Junna-chan this is too muuuuuch. Please let's take a break?" I looked at her and begged. 'Come on, work!'

I saw the conflicting emotions flashed from Junna's eyes and I used my other weapon at her: the puppy eyes. I can feel her resolve crumbling and I know I've -

"Say Nana if you score an above 90 in your make up exam, I'm going to wear that frog costume you've been asking me to."

Let's just say that I didn't ask for breaks anymore. When Junna saw the results of my exam, this time, I'm the one who dragged her, grabbed the frog costume in my closet and began capturing hundreds of pictures.

Yearning

I noticed something about how Nana reacts to affections. When I touch her cheek, a worry look passed through her eyes but she always leans into it. When I wrapped my arms around her, it's like she didn't expect it but after some time, she will pull me closer and tightens the hug. When I kiss her, she doesn't react for a few seconds, then she will reciprocate and deepen it.

I opened the topic to her. She seems tense so I decided to hold her hand, "You know about the loops, right?" I nodded. "I've always been in love with you, Junna-chan... but in those loops, I can tell you don't feel the same way I did. That's why I'm so happy you returned my feelings this time. Even now, I still can't believe you're mine and that's the reason why I'm so conscious of my actions and worry if it's okay with you."

Warmth bloomed in my chest and I squeezed the her hand, "You don't have to be conscious about your actions to me Nana because I will never deny you." I can see her shoulders relax and when I kissed her, she immediately return it.

This is one of the days Nana hate the most when she repeats their first year. Two weeks after Junna and her become roommates, a small box can be seen on Junna's desk. She pretends she doesn't know what's inside the box and faced the wall, giving the space Junna needed to open its contents.

She hears a sniffle and her heart twisted into knots. She wants to wrap her arms around the girl, to tell Junna that her parents didn't know how bright she shines on stage, to let her know that she's proven herself already.

But no matter how much Nana wants to do that, she won't. She tells herself to never change the script, so she can see 'that' stage again.

(And every time, Nana doesn't realize her own tears are falling too.)

Zeal

Nana is a devoted person. When she pours her mind into something, she will make sure to do the job done.

That's why here I am watching her try to win the frog plushie from the claw machine, tongue poking out of her mouth. When the frog escaped from the grasp of the claws, she whined like little kid but tried again. I can't help but laugh at her cute antics.

Junna is a passionate person that's why she always do the things she loves with gusto. One of them is reciting lines from plays.

That's why here I am, receiving another romantic quotes from Shakespeare's and the blush never leave my face for the rest of the day.

Notes:

These two are a wholesome ship. A total package.

I really love their dynamics and interactions with one another in the franchise. The 'married couple' vibe is so strong and I'm just here 🥺🥺🥺.

If I get inspired by these two again, I might make a story out of these drabbles.

Ps: Am I the only one who's gonna die when they release the JunnaNana Rose Poems?
