Chapter Text
Just friends right? Or that's what you thought until you call Taehyung and everything changes
~Part 1~
You laugh after taking a shot of tequila, your best friends trying to get you to spit it out in a fit of laughter. The seven of you are out for a night of bowling after not being able to hang out for so long. Turns out working real full time jobs made it harder than you thought to be able to see each other. That fact hits harder when one person cancels last minute..
A member of your group was missing, Kim Taehyung. He had an art exhibit to help prepare for that couldn't wait. When Taehyung texted saying he couldn't make it, you pouted not being able to see your closest friend. So the other 6, Namjoon, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Yoongi and Hoseok decided to make sure you still had a good time.
You met your seven best friends while in college. As an extra curricular, you joined a world culture club. Namjoon was a part of it, so was Jin and Taehyung. You became friends with the three of them not long after. They eventually introduced you to the other four, and for the next three years these seven boys became your best friends.
You became especially close to Taehyung. He was an inviting person with a goofy personality, while also being incredibly smart and caring. Most days you two hung out by yourselves, doing even the most mundane things like going to the store. A lot of times conversations would go on for hours, even if the others were with you. It seemed as if you two were inseparable. The type of bond you always wished you would have with someone. He's that person you go to when you're having issues with dating, friendships, school or whatever else it may be. When it came to dating, no guy ever felt right being with, and it seemed as if none of them ever got your humor like Tae did. Taehyung never failed to be there for you. For anything.
So now, without your closest friend here with you, after months of not being able to see each other, it almost broke your heart. But you understood right? After all, you were going to his art exhibit next week.
"..but I wanted to see him today. I was so looking forward to it." You whine to Namjoon.
Namjoon laughs at your adorable tone. You acting like a child when you have some alcohol. "Then why don't you call him when you get home? Hm?"
"Yeah y/n," Jin adds. "Give him a hard time like you do to the rest of us."
"Ah, remember when I couldn't make it to her launch event for her company?" Jungkook says. "Y/n gave me hell for not coming."
You scoff rolling your eyes. "That's because you could've had practice another time. You own the dojo Kookie!"
Jungkooks eyes widen, giving him that innocent bunny look. "But I was teaching my students! You want me to be a bad teacher?"
Everyone laughs again. It is true, you do give the boys a hard time when one or more person doesn't come to a get together. You care about them, it's what good friends do. You sigh and reach for your wallet to pay for your drink. "I'll call him later. Lord knows none of you will do it."
"Hey!" They all shout making you giggle. Yoongi giving you a small flick on your head. You mumble an ouch rubbing the area.
After paying, the seven of you start a second round of bowling to sober up. Even with the alcohol in everyone's system, Jungkook still manages to win. You come in second place. While Namjoon, of course with all those gutter balls, loses the round. Everyone leaves the bowling alley, saying their farewells and giving you hugs goodbye. You would see only Jimin and Jin at Taehyungs event next week. So you gave the others especially tight hugs.
"Don't you dare ghost the group chat again." You chastise Jungkook hitting his arm. He still has a bad habit of not answering group messages. You never understand why. He's the youngest of your group, he should show his older friends respect by sending at least an "ok".
"I got it, I got it. Get home safe." Jungkook waves a goodbye, getting in his car to go home. With everyone else gone, you yourself begin heading home.
_______________
As soon as you walk through the door you get out your phone, calling Taehyung through speed dial. Your best friend needs to be reached at any time you want, so of course it was only natural.
Taehyung sees his phone light up, your name on the screen. He smiles and takes a break from work, answering on the third ring. "What's up loser?" He jokingly starts.
You gasp in mock offensive. "Excuse you, where are your manners? Greeting a friend like this."
Taehyung laughs grinning wide. Already you're elevating his mood. "I apologize, I did not mean to offend you. How you doing y/n?"
You smile laying down on your bed, relaxing. "That's better. I'm a bit disappointed.."
"Disappointed?" Taehyung asks as he gets more comfortable in his chair. "Why?"
"Really? You have to ask."
"Well how am I supposed to know? Not like I'm there with you.." His words trail off when he realizes what you mean. "Oh."
"Exactly."
Taehyung sighs rubbing his forehead. "I'm really sorry y/n, you know I would've came if I could. It's just my exhibition is in a week and,"
"You have a lot to do. I know and I understand it's just that.." You take a moment to breathe before continuing. "It's been a while, I miss my TaeTae."
He hasn't heard you call him TaeTae in so long, the nickname makes him blush. Taehyung giggles feeling the heat creep up on his cheeks, flustered and thankful that you can't see him. "You haven't called me that in almost a year."
"Well I guess that just proves how much I miss you. This wouldn't have been an issue if you came tonight."
"You mean I wouldn't have gotten to hear you call me TaeTae again? I don't know, sounds like I won in this situation."
You laugh feeling yourself starting to blush. Why you feel this way you have no idea. You push the thought to the back of your mind. "Oh come on that is so not fair. I still would've called you TaeTae."
"Oh yeah. Prove it."
"I can't you didn't come!"
The both of you erupt in a fit of giggles, smiling so wide your cheeks feel stiff. Even Taehyung can't seem to take the grin off his face. When he gets control of himself he speaks again. "Ah well, I better hear you call me TaeTae next week."
"Yes sir." You say in a serious tone. Taehyung feels his heart skip a beat, not wanting to think of you calling him sir again. Not like that anyway.. He coughs once, clearing his throat.
"So, how have you been lately? Dating anyone?"
"No not really. Haven't been on a date in months." You emphasizing the last word. It really has been a while since you've been with anyone. The last guy you were with absolutely shattered your heart. Taehyung was there to comfort you, as you tried to pick up the pieces of what was left. By the time you were over your ex, any other guy just didn't peak your interest. In the past few months you didn't even find at least one person attractive.
"Oh come on, there's gotta be someone. What about that one guy you liked?" He asks referring to the guy one of your work friends introduced you to. You thought him cute at first, but after spending an afternoon with him you figured he didn't like you back. So, without a word you let go of your crush and remained friends with him.
"It didn't work out Tae, it's fine."
"Why don't I believe you?" He sighs teasing you.
"Oh please!" Taehyung can't help it and laughs at your outburst. "What about you huh? I bet you haven't even so much as kissed a girl."
Taehyung puts his hand on his chest, puffing it out as if you're in the room. "I'll have you know yes I have kissed a girl."
"Oh really. When did this happen?" You ask now curious. Although you will admit that a part of you was upset that he was seeing someone.
"Hmm, about a month ago. I was out for a company dinner. We had a few drinks and starting playing a game, I lost a round and took a dare to kiss the person next to me."
"Ah see, that doesn't count."
"Why the hell not?"
You giggle sitting up on your bed. "Because it was a one and done. Did she tell you you were a good kisser?"
"No, I only gave her a small kiss. But, I'll have you know that I am in fact a great kisser."
"Mmhmm, yeah sure. I don't believe that."
"Guess I'll just have to prove it to you then."
"Oh yeah? Show me how good you supposedly are, mr. Kim Taehyung."
"Fine, you better be good too."
"Oh I am so much better than you are. That's not even a question."
Taehyung laughs sarcastically, still smiling as he continues to challenge you. "You better show up then. You know where to find me."
"Alright fine. Let's go. I'll show you who's better."
"Prepare to lose, cause next time I see you I will win."
"Challenge accepted Taehyung." You sound confident but on the inside you're freaking out. You can feel your heart racing, your index finger going over your lips. Subconsciously already thinking about the possibility of kissing Taehyung. Are you really excited? You shake your head getting out of your thoughts. No, no, there's no way. You're just messing around with each other.
Meanwhile Taehyung is biting his fist, debating on his next move. A giddy feeling taking over to the point that Tae can't figure exactly why. "I'll accept your apology in advance."
"You think so? No, I will be accepting an apology from you sir."
Damn, there it is again, you calling him sir. Taehyung takes a deep breathe in an attempt to calm down the way his heart is beating. "Look who's being overconfident now."
"Tae I swear if you don't stop I will wrestle you to the ground and hold you down till you do."
"Y/n I weigh more than you, you wouldn't be able to get me to the floor."
You scoff with a short laugh. "I'm stronger than I look. Plus I'm smaller, so I move quicker. I'll have you to the ground in no time, holding your hands above your head while I straddle your hips so you can't move." You stop, now seeing the image in your head. You squeezing Tae's strong hips in between your legs, your face close to his as you attempt to keep his hands back. You start feeling hot, fanning yourself.
Taehyung won't admit this, but the image of you holding him in that position turns him on. You taking control, having you so close to him. He sees himself being able to overpower you, but choosing to stay still. He wants that so bad. He wants you to follow through on your threat. Taehyung sees a part of himself having you, kissing you as you fully give in. You releasing his wrists, enabling him to run his hands on your bare skin. Making you sigh as you press closer, saying that you want him too.
Taehyung snaps back to reality when you cough. "Well, anyway, don't give me attitude and you won't get thrown to the ground."
"What if I want to give you attitude.." He whispers, the words leave his mouth before Taehyung can think. His eyes widen, biting his fist again. Why can't I ever shut my big mouth!?
You're taken aback. Did he just call you out? Is he challenging you for real? Is this flirting??? A million thoughts race through your head, maybe a moment passes when you open in your mouth to find something to say. But you hear ringing on Taehyungs end of the line, stopping any words. Taehyung sighs, sounding annoyed. "I'm sorry, I think that's my cue to go. I'll see you soon y/n."
"See you soon TaeTae." You say cutely in order to clear the air.
Taehyung laughs dipping his head, grinning wide. "Bye have a good night."
"Bye." You hang up the phone quickly and drop your phone on your bed. Laying back you rub your eyes. "What the hell was that?" You ask out loud.
Taehyung stops his work phone ringing after he hangs up with you. Calling himself was the best idea he could've come up with to save himself from future embarrassment. "What's wrong with me?" He asks himself. Sure he loves teasing and messing with you. But this felt... different. Like maybe there is something in between him and you.
"No, no. We're just friends." He tells himself, going back through some papers. You and him are just friends. Right?
Right???
