Work Text:
Jungkook should not be here.
Quite literally.
He’s an intern and has only been here for two weeks, his key card isn’t working for this part of the building, he’s not wearing any kind of safety gear whatsoever when he definitely should be, and mere minutes ago he was given the task to go and grab some coffee for a few people in the department he’s working in right now.
Jungkook literally has no business in a place like this, which becomes even clearer to him when he spots the bright, white walls in a room that seems extremely sterile. Not a single particle of dust can be seen afloat in the air.
Yes, he has no business here. That makes Jungkook himself wonder why he currently isn’t on his way to the next Starbucks to fulfill the task he’s been given.
As though the answer isn’t on hand already, he lets his mind explore the space filled with possible answers. It’s no use to come up with lies though, when Jungkook damn well knows why he’s here.
He’s hoping to see Namjoon.
Namjoon, at some point in history, used to be Jungkook’s math tutor in high school, because Jungkook was bad with numbers - frankly,he still is - and Namjoon was good at it. That was four years ago, and Jungkook’s crush on the other is just as old as the memories of the two of them sitting on the dining table, the younger biting down on his pencil as Namjoon explained some stupid equation.
Back then, Namjoon only had one semester left at uni - because he’s a fucking nerd who skipped through uni like it was the main page on pornhub and he couldn’t decide on what to watch - and soon managed to get a full-time job, thus being the reason he was no longer able to give tutoring lessons.
Jungkook hasn’t seen Namjoon often since, seeing as their only connection was Jungkook’s brother and he moved away to study abroad. But whenever he did, Jungkook had to yet again realize that his crush is still very much existent.
And now he’s here. It didn’t take Jungkook much to get here, which is a surprise seeing that the company is very mysterious about what exactly they do. All he had to do was drop out of uni and search for a new study field, something that he might actually enjoy - because business was fucking boring. And it was a complete coincidence, really, that Jungkook just so found himself staring at Namjoon’s Facebook page, his eyes lingering on the workplace for a little too long.
He’d sent his application for an internship an hour later and had his interview not too long after. Eventually, he was told that, as an intern, they could only offer him a place in the statistics department, and Jungkook didn’t care. He really, wholeheartedly just wanted to see Namjoon.
Sadly, though, his two weeks here passed and he didn’t get to see his crush even once. Jungkook did, however, find out a little about the company’s business - scientific research on plants, mostly - and the department Namjoon works for - life plant biology research - and although he has no idea what exactly that means, Jungkook thinks it’s a success.
He did go around to find the entrance to the department. The first time, Jungkook was a little taken aback by the several warning signs hung around the door that all are saying the same things: to only enter if you’re given the right to, and to put on safety gear at all cost. What kind of safety gear, Jungkook isn’t quite sure. He’d spent a few of his lunch breaks lingering around the area, noting how everyone that entered took a black plastic bag from a box by the door, and everyone that left threw the same black bag into a container at the end of the hallway.
He supposes that must be it.
Today, however, it wasn’t Jungkook’s usual lingering. The box in front of the door was empty and whoever left or entered last didn’t properly close the door behind them, leaving a small slot for Jungkook to realize that he could finally take his chance and see what it’s all about.
But now that he’s standing in this room with the bright walls, even brighter lights, he feels confusion creep up on him. The room smells like a hospital and he’s struggling to see through the blinding lights. As his eyes adjust, though, Jungkook notices that placed along the walls of the room there are several doors. He nearly would’ve missed them, seeing as their color seems to blend in with the wall around them and none of them have handles.
Nearly, because on each door there is a sign.
His heart picking up its pace, Jungkook walks towards one of the doors and immediately comes to a halt when he’s able to read the letters on the sign:
LABORATORY
Professor Jung Hoseok
Assistant Park Jimin
Jungkook purses his lips. This has to mean that he’ll be able to find Namjoon’s lab in no time, right?
On his search, he figures that most labs are assigned to either two or three people. Jungkook is growing more and more curious about what’s happening behind those doors, continues wondering why this is such a high security area.
It’s just plants, right?
When he finally finds the lab he was looking for, Jungkook is a little taken aback as he merely sees one name on the sign, that being Namjoon’s. He furrows his brows.
There’s a few seconds of hesitation before Jungkook finally balls his hand into a fist and lifts it up to knock against the hard surface of the door. It feels and sounds like knocking on bulletproof glass and Jungkook can’t shake the feeling that this is exactly what it is.
He waits for what feels like an eternity until there is a weird static noise emitting from the door. It’s pushed out of its frame and then slides to the left along the wall. Jungkook’s mouth slips a whispered ‘oh, fuck’ when he spots Namjoon standing there, wearing a lab coat and safety goggles.
“Jungkook?”
The younger nervously shifts on his feet and bites down on his bottom lip. “Uh, hi.”
Namjoon steps into the frame, probably to prevent the door from closing, and moves the safety goggles so they rest on his forehead. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I work here.”
“You don’t work here .” Namjoon’s eyes nervously dart along the other rooms. “If anyone sees you here, we’re both fucked.”
“I’m up in statistics, just thought I’d come and say hello.” Jungkook sighs. “I’m sorry, I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal.”
Namjoon groans. “You just ignored all the warning signs out there and walked in with no safety gear whatsoever? This is a high security zone, Kook.”
Jungkook’s eyes wander up and down Namjoon’s body. “You don’t really look like you’re wearing safety gear.”
And that’s true. Despite the safety goggles and the lab coat, the older is merely wearing a tight, black tee and a pair of fitted, black jeans.
There’s no time for Namjoon to respond, though. One of the other doors begins to open at that exact moment. With no room to start panicking whatsoever, Namjoon harshly grabs the fabric of Jungkook’s shirt and pulls him inside. The door behind them closes and as soon as a clicking sound indicates that it’s now locked, the older presses Jungkook against the cold surface with his body.
“Don’t move.”
“I- what?”
“Don’t speak, either.”
Jungkook, too caught up in the moment, too taken aback by the fact that his crush is currently using his entire body to push him against the door, barely notices the movements around them.
For a moment or two there’s just silence, Namjoon’s breathing loud in Jungkook’s ear. And suddenly, the movements around them get way too obvious to Jungkook. His eyes finally dart away from Namjoon and into the room, Jungkook’s breath hitching in his throat as he spots what’s in front of him.
Vines.
Vines over vines over vines.
And they’re moving .
The walls are covered in them. In fact, the entire room seems to be covered in them. Thick, heavy looking vines are sliding across the floor like snakes, curling around each other before they pull apart and fall to the ground again. The walls are nearly entirely covered by the plants, as is the ceiling. Jungkook suddenly feels like he understands why this department is a safety zone.
Some of the vines have leaves. Not many, though. They look pretty and don’t seem to be moving as the others. Most of them either have thorns or look slick and greasy, as though there’s some liquid emitting from them. Jungkook doesn’t know nearly enough about plants to be able to tell what makes them look so… wet?
Jungkook notes how some of those vines seem to be moving in their direction and he slowly begins to freak out.
“Joon, would you please talk to me?” It’s probably the high-pitched tone of his voice that makes Namjoon take a step back and look Jungkook in the eye. “What the fuck is this?”
Namjoon sighs. “You shouldn’t be here, Kook.”
“Figured. Doesn’t answer my question, though.”
“This is my work. And you really need to leave or-“
Namjoon’s interrupted by Jungkook’s loud scream. The younger didn’t notice how one of the vines snuck up upon him and slowly wrapped around his ankle, only realized when its grip tightened, small thorns squeezing into his skin.
“Get it away! Get it away from me!”
At this point Jungkook is merely screeching, trying to kick the plant off, his mind occupied by one thought and one thought only.
What. The. Fuck.
It seems that with every move its grip only gets tighter, which makes the feeling of panic bubble up inside Jungkook’s entire body. He feels another vine on his body, making its way into his hair, curling itself around some individual strands before it drops them again. Jungkook swats at the vine with his hands as it tries to repeat the process, vigorously screeching as that doesn’t seem to stop it.
Namjoon stares at the scenario with furrowed brows. “It likes you.”
“What the fuck? Are you insane? Get it off me!” Jungkook hisses the last sentence through his teeth. He can’t believe how absolutely calm Namjoon is staying when he himself is absolutely losing his shit.
“Hm, that’s strange.” Finally, Namjoon shakes his head and kneels down to carefully free Jungkook’s leg from the vine, then swats away the one by his head. He retreats his key card from the pocket of his lab coat and holds it against the door, to which the surface immediately reacts.
The door opens and Namjoon pushes Jungkook out.
“Am I not getting an explanation?” Jungkook stares at Namjoon in disbelief.
The older just shakes his head. “We’ll talk another time.”
Jungkook’s eyes shoot towards his hairline and he has no other choice but to watch the door close in front of him. He doesn’t linger there for much longer, though. Too scared of anyone seeing him down here - especially after Namjoon made such a hassle about it - he quickly turns on his heels and leaves the department again.
He’s going to have to come up with a really good excuse as to why it took him so long to get that damn coffee.
Jungkook feels like he’s nearly been torn apart by a plant and he’s still shaking thinking about how calm Namjoon remained throughout all of that. Maybe, he thinks, he’s making it out to be worse than it actually was. Namjoon is a professional and Jungkook should probably trust him, he surely knows what he’s doing. On the other hand, though, the younger could’ve really used an explanation.
Because now he’s sat by his assigned desk, trying to sort papers with shaking hands. Jungkook can still feel the pressure around his ankle, as though the vine never let go. And if he focuses on it hard enough, he’s quite sure the strange feeling on his scalp won’t leave, either. He didn’t have the nerve yet to see if the thorns left any marks on his skin and quite frankly, Jungkook doesn’t really want to know.
This whole thing freaks him out to no ends. He can’t believe that there are actual, living plants in the basement of this building. He can’t believe that said plants have tried to hurt him - and that is something he’ll be sure of unless proven otherwise. And he surely can not believe that Namjoon didn’t even think of saving him until Jungkook explicitly asked for it.
A shudder runs down Jungkook’s spine as he tries to imagine what possibly could’ve happened if Namjoon wouldn’t have freed him eventually. Would the vine actually have ripped him apart? Would they have choked him? God, yet again Jungkook catches himself thinking that he doesn’t even want to know.
He’s still shaking by the time the end of his shift rolls around. A defeated sigh leaves his throat as he sees that he’s barely made it through half of the paperwork he was assigned to do. He could stay a little longer to get it done, but no, after today there’s no way he’s going to stay in this company any longer, he might as well slack off in hopes they are never going to offer him a job.
Jungkook’s knees aren’t wobbly when he finally gets up and takes his coat that’s been nearly hanged over the backrest of his chair. He just wants to get out of here, home, far away from living plants.
He nods his goodbyes to the people that definitely seem like they’re working overtime and quickly rushes out of the office and down the stairs. He shoots a quick smile to the cleaning lady in the entrance hall before finally heading towards the doors.
He reaches out for the handle-
“Jungkook! Wait for me!”
His entire body stiffens upon hearing Namjoon’s voice echo through the hall. He curses under his breath when he turns around, figuring that the older is now merely standing a few steps from him. How long exactly had he held onto that door handle?
“Oh, hi.” There’s a strange mix of emotions bubbling up in Jungkook’s stomach. Something that feels a little like anger joined by the feeling of being utterly in love. He hates it. “What’s up?”
“I was wondering if you’d be down for some coffee?” Namjoon sighs. “What happened earlier must’ve been quite the shock to you. I’d like to explain.”
It takes Jungkook a few seconds to make up his mind. He could be home in about twenty minutes and devote the rest of his day to playing Overwatch. On the other hand, though, he really wants an explanation, and he also wants to spend time with Namjoon, still. So eventually, he nods.
“Yeah, that would be cool.”
They leave the building together after Namjoon suggests a nice coffee place just around the corner. They barely walked a few steps when the older grabs Jungkook by his arm, forcing the two of them to stop. “Does your ankle hurt?”
Jungkook shakes his head. “Not really, it itches just a little.”
“Oh, okay, I was worried because of the thorns.”
“I’m fine, thank you,” Jungkook assures Namjoon once more and then turns away, indicating for the two of them to please continue walking. Despite having no clue where they’re going, Jungkook is a few steps ahead of the other.
“You’re angry,” Namjoon states when he finally catches up.
“How can I not be angry?” Jungkook scoffs. “You would’ve let me die in there.” It’s too hard for him to keep a straight face, too hard to try and be rude to Namjoon when all he really wants to do is to forgive him on the spot and spend a nice afternoon with him.
The other hums. “No, that's not true. Hey, we’re here. Let’s go inside and I’ll start explaining.”
They’re in front of a very tiny café. Inside there only is just enough space for two or three tables and the one employee behind the counter aside, it’s entirely empty.
As soon as they’ve made their order and settled on one of the tables, Jungkook crosses his arms in front of his chest. His heart's still beating fast, eyes lingering on Namjoon for too long. He can’t believe he’s here with his crush right now, and he isn’t even allowed to enjoy it.
“Before you start to explain, I just have one single question.”
“Shoot.”
“What the actual fuck, Joon?”
Namjoon huffs a laugh. “Okay, see. I know this is a little freaky. But I think that by now you figured what the company does, right?”
“Not at all.” Jungkook shakes his head. “They’re leaving me completely in the unknown. All I know is plant research.”
“Well, that’s it, basically.”
“I didn’t know it was some Stranger Things bullshit, though.”
To that, Namjoon laughs out loud. “I just so happen to work with the weirdest plant the company has ever encountered. I can assure you, the other labs are a lot calmer than mine.”
“I don’t believe a word you say.” Jungkook hums. “So, what are they?”
“Not they, it. It’s just one plant.”
Jungkook swallows thickly. “All of that is just- just one plant?”
Namjoon nods. “It’s strange, really. No one researched on it for a long time before I joined the company, and no one else really wants to. All they knew before I took on the project was that it kept growing. And that it’s moving. The lab stayed untouched for about two years.”
“What, they just let it grow on its own?”
“That’s the strange part. When there was no one researching the plant, it stopped growing. When I set foot into the lab the stats were the exact same as two years prior. But when I picked up research, it started growing again.”
Jungkook’s brows are furrowed, he nearly forgets about the hot chocolate on the table in front of him. “What does the plant do? Why did no one want to continue their research?”
“It seems to have a mind of its own and that seems to be enough to scare people off. No one needs a plant with a brain.”
“It has a brain?”
“Not exactly, but the core root of the plant has similar structures.” Namjoon smiles upon seeing the terrified look on Jungkook’s face.
Jungkook, however, needs to stop himself from gushing over those damn dimples.
“So, what did your research bring?”
Namjoon sighs. “I’m not sure. I’m almost certain it feeds off human emotions, but I’m still trying to get behind the whole thing. Until today, I thought it retreats upon sensing negative emotions. But it liked you when you were scared out of your mind, so now I’m confused.”
Jungkook cocks his head to the side. “You’re making it sound as though the plant asked me for my number.”
“It probably would’ve if it could talk.” Namjoon smiles again, then sips on his mocha before continuing. “It’s not dangerous, Jungkook. I took off my safety gear several times to see what it would do. It touched me, yes, but it never really hurt me. It does seem to have a mind of its own, though.”
“What did you mean when you said it retreats when it senses negative emotions?”
“Usually, when I’m in a bad mood, it won’t touch me. And when I touch it, it would retreat to get as far away from me as possible.”
“Fear is a negative emotion.”
Namjoon nods. “Are you calmer now?”
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry this happened. But quite frankly, you shouldn’t have been down there.”
Jungkook sighs. “I know. But the door wasn’t closed and I knew you’re working down there, so I thought I could just come and say hello.”
“Next time you’re putting on safety gear, please.”
Jungkook’s eyes shoot towards his hairline. “Next time?”
He’s once again met by Namjoon’s dimples. “Only if you want to, of course. I’d enjoy some company, it gets lonely working on my own.”
Jungkook hums. And then he gathers all his courage to ask his next question. “Hey, uh, it’s quite late and I wondered if you might want to catch some dinner?”
This feels like way more of a date than Jungkook thought it would.
They spent three hours at a Korean barbecue place and are now on a walk by the Han River. Jungkook’s stomach is slightly hurting from how much he laughed tonight and Namjoon won’t stop rambling about plant biology that Jungkook doesn’t understand in the slightest. But it’s kind of cute, the way Namjoon gets so excited over all that stuff, so Jungkook leaves him be and just admires the older without really listening.
Suddenly, Namjoon comes to a halt. “Shall we sit down for a second? I feel like we walked for ages.”
Jungkook can basically feel the butterflies in his stomach. It’s kind of incredible how Namjoon still wants to spend time with him, even after so many hours.
They sit on a bench in silence for a few minutes, the city’s skyline beautifully stretched in front of them. Jungkook likes that it’s a comfortable silence, he’s glad he doesn’t feel the urge to desperately have to talk and keep the mood up. He truly hopes Namjoon feels the same.
Their silence doesn’t last long, though.
“Kook, can I ask you for a favor? It might seem a little strange but-“
“Anything.”
Jungkook knows he’s reacting too quickly. Maybe he should listen to what Namjoon wants of him before agreeing. But the fact alone that he’s asking him for help exclusively gets him too excited.
“Wait, no, nevermind, this is too freaky. I can’t ask for this.”
Jungkook shakes his head. “No, please, at least tell me what it’s about. I can still decline.”
Namjoon’s lips are pressed into a firm line for a short moment before he nods. “Fine, but promise to not freak out.”
“Promise.”
“Well, there is some research that I can’t do on my own because it might be too dangerous, you know. And I’m curious, I really want to know how the plant reacts if, well, uh, if someone’s sexually aroused.”
Jungkook starts coughing as a result of almost choking on his own spit. He takes a few seconds to recover before he sits up straight and looks at Namjoon with wide eyes. “Okay, continue.”
“I’d have to use you as the test object, because I’ll also have to take notes. Though, I’m not sure how much you’ll enjoy being groped by a plant when you’re naked and hard, I mean if we even manage to get you hard, that is. But then again maybe it’s also interesting to see how the plant reacts when people are having sex but-“
Jungkook stops listening right then and there. Being naked? Having sex? All of that in relation with Namjoon? He must be dreaming.
Namjoon rambles on and on about the plant’s possible reactions but Jungkook is not listening, he can’t focus. His mind now fully wrapped around the thought of getting physical with Namjoon, he crosses all the metaphorical warning signs that seem to be popping up in his head and-
“I’ll do it.”
“After everything I just said?”
Jungkook pretends he knows what Namjoon is talking about. “Yeah, I’ll help you.”
Namjoon goes silent for a minute, surprise clearly written on his face. “I, uhm, I didn’t expect that. Cool, totally cool, I mean thank you. I’m gonna talk to the boss tomorrow so maybe he’ll let you change departments for a day.”
After that, their silence does grow uncomfortable. For one part because Namjoon is probably too surprised by Jungkook agreeing, and for the other because Jungkook has no idea what on earth he just agreed to do.
Luckily, though, Namjoon checks the time and jumps in an instant when he sees the numbers on his phone screen. “It’s midnight! We should get going.”
So they do.
Namjoon now asks Jungkook how he’s liking his internship so far and isn’t surprised to hear that Jungkook can’t really make up his mind because he mostly only sorts through paperwork or gets coffee for the department.
“It doesn’t really seem like they’re trying to convince me to study in the field, you know,” Jungkook says as they take a seat on the subway, their thighs touching and nearly making his chest explode.
“As far as I know, interns are supposed to find that out by talking to the employees, because the company still likes to be mysterious about their business.” Namjoon clicks his tongue. “You’ll have to trust your instincts. Just don’t end up studying something you don’t enjoy again.”
As Jungkook’s stop is coming closer, he just smiles and nods as he gets up. “Thanks for the nice evening, Joon.”
“Right back at you.” Namjoon smiles back at him and Jungkook needs to hold back on a squeal. Why is he so whipped for this guy? “You sure you wanna help me on the project?”
“Yes, you can arrange everything, don’t worry about it!”
When Jungkook finally hops off the subway and struts home, the panic finally rises within him.
What the hell did he agree to?
What the fuck is going to happen?
It takes Namjoon terrible five days to get back at Jungkook.
In the meantime, Jungkook already had enough time to forget about the issue. But of course he didn’t. He’d spent his nights wide awake trying to remember what Namjoon told him about that goddamn plant and the project altogether when Jungkook’s brain refused to listen in its haze.
Fact is, he can’t remember.
Jungkook has an idea of what might happen, but some of it sounds too freaky to be possibly true. He tries not to think about it too much, and it works for the most part.
He is completely losing his shit again, though, when he finally receives a message from Namjoon.
Namjoon: sorry, took a bit longer, wasn’t as easy as i thought
Namjoon: they got you an extra set of security gear for the day
Namjoon: boss said he’ll let your department know that you’ll be gone tomorrow
Namjoon: kook if you don’t want to do this it’s fine, i’m not forcing you to do anything
Me: it’s fine, just sit me down and explain everything again please, i think i wasn’t listening properly
Me: if i get cold feet i can still accompany you for the day :)
Me: so, shall i come straight to the office tomorrow morning?
Namjoon: no, let’s meet in front of the building. i’ll bring coffee
Jungkook is quite proud of himself for being honest with Namjoon. He figures that just blindly agreeing to whatever might happen is not going to do him any good.
This way, he still has a chance on spending a day with Namjoon whether or not he’s actually going to offer himself as a test object. Strangely enough, after speaking the truth, Jungkook’s mood is a little lifted and he’s not quite as scared as he was before, even if still a little terrified.
Jungkook is doing a rather mediocre job at the department from then on. It doesn’t matter, though. These past days he noticed that none of the people actually care for him as long as he’s got something to do and doesn’t ask too many questions. Needless to say, he’s looking forward to a day away from the department. Bonus points because he gets to spend that day with Namjoon.
When it’s finally time to end his day at work, Jungkook doesn’t hesitate to leave that damn desk for a second. Even if he stayed, he couldn’t focus. His mind is racing and the panic that he thought he’d just gotten rid of returns. He needs to spend the night in peace. Taking a hot and thorough shower and playing Overwatch sounds like a good plan right now.
On his way out, Jungkook dares to sneak around the life plant research department for a few minutes, maybe in hopes to see Namjoon, he's not sure. There’s no one, though, except for the workers that are now removing the bin for the used security gear.
Jungkook nods to himself.
He’ll see Namjoon tomorrow, there’s no reason for him to stay any longer.
Jungkook couldn’t sleep.
He is currently on the subway to work, regretting all of his life choices that led him to this very moment. He’s tired and anxious and at the same time excited.
His mind wouldn’t stop racing this entire night. The closer morning came, the more vivid the images of the vines became in his head, the more he tried to imagine what it would feel like to have them all over his body.
Because that is exactly what Jungkook thinks is going to happen. Namjoon did mention something about plants groping him, didn’t he? Jungkook couldn’t shake off the fear and eventually failed to shut off his brain, so he decided to just pull an all-nighter, thinking it wouldn’t be much of an issue.
But, oh dear, it is very much an issue. He keeps dozing off on the subway, over and over again woken up by his chin bumping onto his chest. He’s not even in a good enough condition to work on a desk, let alone to spend all day around a plant with a brain… or something.
Jungkook shudders when he leaves the subway station and struts towards the company, the cold air helping him wake up at least a little bit.
The second he spots Namjoon standing in front of the building, though, holding a cup of coffee in each of his hands, Jungkook suddenly feels wide awake. He can’t help but smile as he approaches the older male.
“Jungkook!” Namjoon smiles back at him and immediately holds out one of the cups for the younger to take. “Jesus, you look tired. Did you sleep at all?”
Jungkook once again decides to be honest and shakes his head. “No. I couldn’t stop freaking out. I’m a little scared.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll explain everything to you, we will finish our coffee in peace and then you can decide whether you want to do it or not.” Namjoon flashes him another dimple-popping smile and then turns on his heels.
Jungkook follows quietly as they walk into the building and down to Namjoon’s department. For some reason, the building seems strangely quiet today, it feels as though they’re the only people currently present.
That is, until they bump into a coworker of Namjoon’s.
“Hey, Namjoon! You’re early!” The man - incredibly handsome, yet somehow intimidating - waves at Namjoon before grabbing into the box of safety gear and withdrawing a bag.
“Good morning, Jin.” Namjoon bows his head ever so slightly. “I brought company today, it’s not every day that I get a research assistant. I need to make use of it.”
It’s like the other male hadn’t even noticed Jungkook’s presence. He furrows his brows as his eyes slowly wander off of Namjoon’s face and onto Jungkook’s. Jin shudders. “You really want to do that, huh?”
Jungkook shrugs, a nervous laugh escaping from his mouth. “It’s not like I know what to expect.”
Jin nods. “Well, good luck to you guys, then. I’ll go back to researching on my cacti. One of them started shooting needles yesterday, like, literally. Missed Taehyung’s eye by a close inch. Still not sure if he’s gonna come in today.”
Namjoon raises an eyebrow. “Yeah, right, but vines are scary.”
Jin merely laughs as he makes his way into the safety zone, the door quickly shutting close behind him.
Jungkook clears his throat. “He doesn’t seem to be fond of your plant.”
Namjoon shakes his head. “He’s the one who researched it before me. I never found out why he quit, though. His notes aren’t giving away any inconveniences. Anyways, there’s bags with our names in the box, help me find them.”
Jungkook maybe should be even more scared now, but for some reason he feels strangely calm. He looks into the box and doesn’t take long to find the two black bags assigned to him and Namjoon.
“Got ‘em.”
“Perfect.” Namjoon nods. “Let’s go, then.”
When the door shuts close behind them, Namjoon throws his key card to the floor, then carefully puts his coffee cup down next to it. “Take everything off, except for socks and underwear. I hope I got your size right.” He takes the bag with his name from Jungkook and then begins to get undressed.
Jungkook, however, is none of the fast kind. He’s standing there, grip on his cup so tight he feels it give in under his fingers, gaping at Namjoon’s body as the clothes that cover it are quickly being removed.
How come Jungkook forgot how toned Namjoon’s body is? Or did Namjoon start working out not too long ago? And, god, why is his skin so damn flawless?
It’s only when Namjoon begins to withdraw the clothes from the bag when Jungkook’s mind finally snaps back into place. He quickly puts down his cup, throws off his coat and gets undressed. He’s nowhere near done when Namjoon is finished and stuffs his regular clothes into the bag.
Of course Jungkook notices the way Namjoon watches him, of course he notices the other’s eyes wandering up and down his body. And of course it’s enough to make Jungkook blush. The light in this room is so bright there’s no way Namjoon doesn’t notice.
“I- uh, I’m done.” The fabric of the safety gear lays heavy on Jungkook’s body. It smells strange, too. Not unpleasant, but definitely strange.
“Figured.” There’s something in Namjoon’s smile that makes Jungkook feral. He can’t make out what it is. “There’s a locker inside, don’t forget your coat.”
Already before the door is fully opened in front of them, Jungkook notices the earthy smell escaping from the room. It feels a little like falling asleep in a hospital and waking up in the middle of a greenhouse.
He can’t tell whether the plant has already been moving before Namjoon turned on the lights, but as the door slides shut behind Jungkook and Namjoon locks their clothes away, the younger is painfully aware of the vines sliding over the floor and along the ceiling. They don’t seem to be going in any certain direction.
Except for one.
It seems to slide towards Jungkook himself. He catches himself taking a step back, his back immediately touching the cold surface of the door. This time, though, the vine does not touch him. It comes to a halt mere inches from his feet, its head - if you can call it that - wiggling towards Jungkook’s body, then it retreats quicker than it came.
Jungkook furrows his brows. “Joon, what is it about this safety gear?”
“Ah,” Namjoon nods, “there’s some strange plant killing substance worked into these clothes. It keeps them away, logically. Now that you’re asking, I might consider finding out what exactly they’re using.”
Namjoon walks into the middle of the room and Jungkook begins to wonder if that table has been there all this time. Fair enough, it’s covered in leaves - probably thrown off by the vines on the ceiling - but still way too big for any normal human being to just not see it. Namjoon begins clearing the table of the leaves and then places himself on top of it.
“Have a seat, sadly I only have one chair here.”
Jungkook hesitates, carefully eyes the twisting and curling vines on the floor before he finally takes a deep breath and slowly moves towards Namjoon, eventually settling himself on the chair right next to him.
“You can sit on the chair if you’d like.”
The older shakes his head no. “It’s fine, really. It’s better if you’re comfortable for now.” Namjoon clears his throat. “Kook, do you have any idea what you agreed to?”
Jungkook slowly takes a sip of his coffee before he sheepishly smiles up at Namjoon. “No fucking clue.”
Namjoon chuckles. “Thought so. The idea goes a little like this: you’ll be naked. And horny, if we can manage. And then there’s the plant-“
“What if it kills me?” Jungkook nervously shuffles in his seat. This pretty much sounds like he imagined. Yet, he feels like that night by the river Namjoon said more, something that might be crucial to know.
“It won’t. The plant is many things, but not violent. Honestly, it feels a little like all this time we have been researching each other. It’s curious, and yeah there’s thorns, but it never seriously injured me.” Namjoon figures his coffee cup is empty and puts it down next to him. “There’s a second thing I’d like to try.”
Jungkook raises his eyebrows. “Oh?”
“I mentioned it by Han River, but I had the feeling you weren’t quite listening.” It takes Namjoon a few seconds to continue. He nervously bites down on his bottom lips, fidgeting with his fingers in his lap before he finally seems to be sure enough of his words to speak again. “If the plant reacts positively, I’d like to see how it reacts when two people are sexually engaged with each other. It- uh, it might be too much for you-“
“Okay,” Jungkook interrupts. His heart is hammering in his chest, he doesn’t know whether he’s anxious about possibly being fucked by a plant or because Namjoon just indicated the two of them could be having sex. “This has to be the craziest thing I ever agreed to. But I’m down for it. If it, uh, really helps your research.”
Namjoon nods. “I think it will. I’ll turn off the cameras, already warned the security guard about it. And I’ll be here, okay? No need to be worried, if you want to stop at any point, let me know and we’ll immediately stop.”
Jungkook allows himself to give everything a second thought. His eyes are wandering along the floor, closely watching the many vines that are sliding around him in a safe distance. It’s as though they’re just waiting for a chance to shoot for him, touch him. It freaks Jungkook out, but at the same time he figures that he is not too opposed to being groped by a bunch of plants. Eventually, he nods, a rush of confidence overcoming him when he looks at Namjoon.
“Get on the chair.”
“What? Why?” Despite not having an answer yet, Namjoon begins to slide off the table.
“Well, your plan is for me to be horny, no?.” Jungkook grins, watching Namjoon sit down on the chair.
Namjoon seems to get what Jungkook is talking about. He looks confused for a second before his face lights up. “Oh, you want to make out?”
The younger nods, placing his legs on each side of Namjoon before lowering his body onto the other’s lap. The chair dangerously creaks but it seems to hold the two of them just fine. “If you’re alright with that?”
Namjoon huffs a laugh and places his hands on Jungkook’s hips. “Well, what are you waiting for?”
Jungkook is a little surprised by how things are going. His entire attention is on Namjoon, who now is just expecting for the younger to do something. The plant around them is almost forgotten. Almost, because of course it can’t be forgotten why Jungkook is here in the first place. He can’t quite believe he is caught in a situation like this. His eyes linger on Namjoon’s lips for one more second before Jungkook finally leans in and puts his own lips on them.
Namjoon’s lips part immediately and Jungkook’s follow. As the younger inhales the Namjoon’s warm breath, tasting slightly of coffee, he notices how Namjoon’s hands wander from his hips to his butt, firmly holding onto it as he allows Jungkook’s tongue to slide into his mouth.
Jungkook’s feet barely reach the floor, he can’t move much, but at some point he finds himself grinding against Namjoon’s crotch. There are fingers under his shirt, tracing the bare skin there so softly that it sends shivers down Jungkook’s spine.
When they break the kiss, there’s a thin thread of saliva still connecting their lips for a split second. Namjoon’s eyes are glassy and there’s a peachy shade on his tan cheeks. Jungkook feels like melting right into him.
“You should take off your clothes.”
At this point, Jungkook had in fact almost forgotten why he was here, Namjoon’s taste and touches occupying his mind too much for him to stay focused. He wishes they could stay like this a little longer. On the other hand, though, maybe they can once Jungkook is undressed.
The thought fills him with excitement. He slowly gets up, takes a step back to be able to get rid of all of his clothing. Yet again, Jungkook is aware of the way Namjoon looks at his body. With hooded eyes, the older stares at Jungkook’s toned upper body for a little too long, bites his lower lip when the younger slips out of the jeans.
It’s the way Namjoon stares that makes Jungkook hesitate before finally taking off his briefs. He’s only half erect, but that is proof alone that the first part of Namjoon’s plan seems to be going well.
“Is it the wrong moment to tell you how beautiful you are?” Namjoon smiles up at Jungkook who feels the heat rise in his cheeks.
“For you, never.” He would’ve liked to say some more, but in that very moment the plant seems to have realized that it is no longer restricted from touching Jungkook. A single, smooth vine begins to wrap around his ankle.
Jungkook closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He flinches just a little when he feels Namjoon’s hand grabbing his. “It’s fine, Kook. It won’t hurt you.”
One, two, three more deep breaths later, Jungkook opens his eyes again and nods. The grip around his ankle isn’t too tight, he’s perfectly able to settle himself back in Namjoon’s lap, only a little less aroused than a few minutes ago.
He doesn’t hesitate before he leans in for another kiss and Namjoon’s hands yet again find their way onto Jungkook’s hips. Their kisses grow hotter, sloppier and definitely wetter, there’s spit covering both their chins. Now, though, Jungkook is way too aware of the vines moving around them. And yet, he does not see it coming-
He shouts in surprise, biting down on Namjoon’s bottom lip maybe a little too hard. Jungkook’s body realizes what is happening before he, himself does. There is a strange, yet very calming wave of pleasure taking over his body.
It’s just when his face is buried in Namjoon’s neck, lips pressed to the smooth skin there as he’s moaning, when Jungkook realizes that the plant is inside of him .
It’s small enough to have easily slid past his rim. It doesn’t hurt, no, quite the opposite. It seems to be exploring Jungkook, sliding along the walls, parts of it constantly brushing past his prostate, causing him to moan and latch at Namjoon’s skin.
Something about it feels … calming?
Jungkook might be imagining, but he knows that where there should be fear, there is none. He feels strangely relaxed as the plant seems to go deeper. The plant retreats and as the sensational pleasure disappears for a moment, he tries to catch a glimpse of Namjoon’s face. His eyebrows are furrowed.
“How does it feel?”
Jungkook needs to take a deep breath before responding. “Good, it feels good.”
Namjoon nods, then moves one of his hands further down until his fingers are just so brushing over the rim. A surprised sound slips from his lips and he retreats his hand, holding it up for both him and Jungkook to see. “Interesting.”
Covering Namjoon’s fingers is an amber-colored liquid. It’s glistening in the light. Namjoon leads his fingers to Jungkook’s mouth and the younger parts his lips with no hesitation, just to close them again around the lengths. He hums when the taste spreads in his mouth. It’s sweet, definitely not as sticky as it first seemed. Jungkook feels himself relax some more. So he wasn’t imagining.
Namjoon retracts his fingers again. “Like it?”
Jungkook nods. “What’s this?” A strange wave of exhaustion comes over him. Face falling back into Namjoon’s neck, Jungkook is sure he could fall asleep right this second. Could be the strange liquid, or maybe it actually is due to Jungkook’s sleep deprivation.
“Sap. Plants create fluids, well, most of them do. Some of them have effects on humans. Most don’t, though.” Namjoon runs a finger down Jungkook’s spine. “Maybe I should collect some of it to research later. I didn’t know it could produce this much at once.”
Jungkook allows a whine to slip from his lips when Namjoon asks him to get up for a moment. He’s keeping his position on the chair even when Namjoon is no longer beneath him and now searches the room for something he can use to bottle up the liquid.
He feels the vine poking at his rim again, this time aware of the thick liquid that is dripping down between his cheeks, gasping when he feels it inside of him again. He feels the strange urge to dig his teeth into the backrest of the chair, but resists. Jungkook’s pleasure doesn’t last long, though, as Namjoon quickly returns.
“Sorry, Kook, I’ll have to make use of it.”
Jungkook feels the tug on the vine and throws a look behind, seeing Namjoon lead its head to the opening of a small, glassen bottle. He squeezes the plant a little and curses as its liquid does not only pour into the bottle, but also all over his hands.
Jungkook chuckles. “Messy.”
Namjoon, now letting go of the vine that retreats quickly, looks up at him with furrowed brows. “I’m going to wash my hands, I’ll be-“
“No,” Jungkook interrupts, “let me have it.”
“You sure?” Namjoon raises an eyebrow and Jungkook merely nods. “Okay, let me sit down again, then.”
As Jungkook slides off the chair, Namjoon uses his time to close the lid of the bottle and tosses it somewhere on the floor. Once he’s back on the chair, Jungkook quickly gets back into Namjoon’s lap, eyes lingering on the hand that is now held up between them.
The thing is, Jungkook knows Namjoon has pretty hands. In the past, he’d caught himself gushing over these delicate fingers holding a pen a few times, more than once imagined sucking on them. Having that fantasy turn into reality now feels like a dream, especially in this kind of situation. Jungkook can’t help the excitement rising inside of him.
He wraps his fingers around Namjoon’s wrist and pulls the sap-covered hand closer to his mouth, running his tongue over the palm of the hand and along Namjoon’s middle finger, humming once more as the taste spreads in his mouth, another wave of relaxation coming over him.
Jungkook makes it his duty to clean up the entire mess, taking his time to clear the palm of the liquid with his tongue before he allows Namjoon’s fingers to slip into his mouth. He takes them one by one, suckling at them ever so slightly, and he doesn’t miss the way Namjoon groans every time Jungkook moves on to the next one. He suckles at the thumb a little longer, the drowsiness now heavy on his body, and when he finally runs his tongue over the length of it one last time, he lets go of Namjoon’s wrist and immediately drops against his chest, burying his face in Namjoon’s neck again.
Jungkook can feel Namjoon’s racing heartbeat against his own body.
“How are you?”
“Sleepy.”
“Scared?”
Jungkook shakes his head. “Not anymore.”
“But you can think straight?”
Jungkook laughs. “I never thought straight.”
“You know what I’m talking about.”
“I’m fine. Just horny and sleepy.”
Namjoon chuckles. “So, you want to continue?”
Jungkook tries his best to sit up straight and look Namjoon in the eyes. “Please, let’s continue. Why did it stop, anyways?”
To that, the older thinks for a minute. “I think I might be restricting them. Maybe you should lay on the table.”
Jungkook nods and gets up. He’s moving a little too fast, getting dizzy as he moves the few inches towards the table. He doesn’t care, though. All he wants is for that feeling to come back. He needs to stop his own thoughts. Never had Jungkook thought he’d crave to be fucked by a plant.
When he’s finally spread on the table, the cold surface makes Jungkook shudder. He’s on his back, legs propped up and spread, face turned towards Namjoon who’s still sitting on the chair, watching with hooded eyes and a heaving chest.
Jungkook doesn’t know what moves him to do so, but a split second later he begins to touch himself. Despite feeling like he’s been on edge for hours now - when probably not even an hour has passed yet - his strokes are slow. Jungkook doesn’t want this to go too fast and he surely doesn’t want to be the one to finish it on his own.
He doesn’t break eye contact with Namjoon once, not even when in the corner of his eyes he sees vines sneaking onto the surface of the table, and not when one of them begins to poke his nipple, making Jungkook throw his head back, luring a moan from deep within his chest.
Namjoon curses and shifts in his chair, and Jungkook doesn’t have to ask, he just knows. The older is affected by this, and somehow it fills Jungkook with pride. Because he is the one spread on this table naked. He is the one Namjoon is watching.
Jungkook moans aloud when finally he feels a vine against his rim. It’s way thicker than the previous one and obviously needs a bit of pressure to slide past, but yet again it doesn’t hurt, yet again Jungkook is overcome with a feeling of warmth and relaxation.
This one is not as careful as the previous. It moves quickly, almost rough, but Jungkook isn’t complaining. It feels good . The thick vine slides along the walls until it finds Jungkook’s prostate and brushes it with a force that makes Jungkook arch his back, the scream he’s emitting being swallowed by the walls around him. The plant stops, then repeats several times until Jungkook is merely a shaking mess atop the table.
Jungkook would love for Namjoon to give professional feedback now, is very curious about why the plant is doing what it’s doing, but as he finds Namjoon slouched on the chair with a hand in his pants, he doubts there’ll be any professionalism slipping from those lips anytime soon.
Jungkook is barely aware of the vine on his nipple anymore. All he feels is overwhelming pleasure, so overwhelming, in fact, that his body threatens to go numb any second now. He’s squirming, trying to kick off the vine, and yet he craves more. He tears his eyes off of Namjoon and looks down on his own body. He’d probably be surprised if the vine wasn’t still fucking him.
Jungkook hadn’t noticed he came but the mere proof of it is spread on his own torso. He can’t seem to do anything about it, though. He’s powerless against the vine thrusting against him. A single tear rolls down his face - and then everything stops.
At the end of the table, Namjoon is standing, holding the vine in his right hand. With the other, he reaches for the one still poking at Jungkook’s nipple.
“You good?”
Jungkook can’t respond. He’s still shaking, whimpering, his entire body twitches. It’s as though he can still feel it brushing against his prostate over and over again.
“Hey, Kook, answer me.”
It takes him a lot of strength to part his lips and speak. “I-I’m okay, give me a few minutes.”
Namjoon nods, then lets go of the vines and reaches down to the floor. He picks up Jungkook’s shirt and throws it on top of the boy’s body. “That should be enough for now.”
Just to be sure, the older places himself on the tabletop by Jungkook’s feet.
When Jungkook’s finally recollected and able to grasp a proper thought, he groans. “What the fuck was that?”
Namjoon chuckles. “You seemed like you had fun.”
“No, I mean yeah, I did.” He shoots a grin at Namjoon. “You did, too.”
“Maybe a little too much,” the older admits with a smile.
“So, about that other part-“
“We don’t need to, I mean, not today if you’re too exhausted.”
Jungkook purses his lips and pretends to think for a moment. “No, I’m fine. Plus, you’re still hard, aren’t you?”
“I can finish on my own.” Namjoon looks slightly uncomfortable.
The younger shakes his head, smiling. “Come on. It’s for research, isn’t it?”
“Fuck.” Namjoon bites down on his lower lip. “I’m sorry I’m just- I’m thinking with my dick right now.”
“That’s fine, too. We can fuck for fun, then.”
The look on Namjoon’s face is priceless. Jungkook can’t help but laugh aloud. Fair enough, it’s unbelievable even to himself that he thinks about having sex after what he just experienced. But this is Namjoon, the same guy he’d had a crush on for years now. Of course he wouldn’t turn down the opportunity.
“Are you being for real right now?” Namjoon seems conflicted and Jungkook can’t blame him.
“Joon. I’m here, naked. You just watched me get fucked by a plant. Do you think I would have even considered helping you out if I wasn’t just slightly interested in you?” Jungkook raises his eyebrows. “Oh god, forget what I said. Please, if you really want to, just fuck me.”
“I don’t have a condom. I wouldn’t mind being irresponsible for once but-“
“It’s fine by me.”
Jungkook knows it’s dumb. He’d always made sure his previous partners were clean before ditching the condoms. But yet again, his only reason to be irresponsible is that this is Namjoon and he’s not sure if he’ll ever get this chance again.
His words seem to be reason enough for Namjoon to hop off the table and finally get rid of his pants. Jungkook can’t help but stare at the older’s exposed cock. It’s a pretty one, not too big nor too small, little precum collecting on the circumcised tip.
He repositions himself on the table, does a full one-eighty until his butt is resting on the edge of the table. With a smooth movement, Jungkook takes the shirt from his torso and throws it back to the floor. Namjoon, however, is leaving his shirt on, merely his lower body entirely exposed as he places his body between Jungkook’s legs.
He quickly leads a hand to Jungkook’s rim, just to figure that it’s still very much lubricated and he doesn’t need to do much stretching. Guess they won’t need any of that bottled up sap. “Was it really that big?”
Jungkook shrugs. “It felt massive, to be honest. But I think you can just-“
“I think so too.”
Namjoon quickly replaces his fingers with the tip of his cock. He doesn’t slide as easily as the vine, but still good enough for Jungkook to not feel any pain. Namjoon groans as he pushes in, going slowly at first, keeping his eyes locked with Jungkook’s.
Jungkook gasps in surprise as he feels something wrapping around his ankle. It might be their sap, but as he watches the vine tighten, feeling the same thing happening on his other ankle, there’s not a single spark of fear inside of him. It feels different from earlier, mainly because there are now thorns pressing into his flesh, but Jungkook finds himself enjoying the pain. There are two thorned vines lingering just above his head and, as though he knows exactly what to do, he offers them his hands and they immediately curl around his wrists.
At first, Jungkook fears that he might not be able to hold himself up this way, but the vines are so tightly wrapped around his limbs, holding him up with their mere strength, that there is no need to worry. A few moments pass before Jungkook realizes that he is now powerless, served to Namjoon on a silver plate.
Namjoon keeps a close watch on the plant that is holding Jungkook’s hands just above his head, still balls deep in Jungkook but not moving an inch. “Is this okay? Don’t they hurt?”
“Hurts a little. But feels good.” He smiles at Namjoon, who then nods and wraps his arms around Jungkook’s upper thighs. “You don’t need to be careful, Joon.”
Jungkook is not surprised to find his dick hardening again on his torso. He won’t say it aloud, but this has to be by far the hottest thing he’s ever experienced. He’s not even sure why he was so worried about the plant in the beginning, when all it does is to help him reach the peak of his pleasure.
Namjoon picks up on pace, grunting as he thrusts into Jungkook. The sound of skin slapping on skin fills the room and the thorns are digging deeper and deeper into Jungkook’s flesh, almost too deep for him to handle, but fuck, he loves it. Two more vines find their ways onto the table and Jungkook’s body, poking and twisting around his sensitive nipples, and he’s soon so filled with bliss that he’s sure he can see Heaven’s gates if he closes his eyes a second too long.
His head thrown back, eyes closed and uncontrollable moans emitting from his mouth, Jungkook feels himself coming closer to climax again.
And all of a sudden, Namjoon stops.
Jungkook’s eyes snap open and he’s met with a face of terror.
“What’s wrong?”
Jungkook doesn’t receive a response. Instead, Namjoon collapses onto the younger’s body with a loud moan, the vines on Jungkook’s chest retreating quickly.
A look past Namjoon’s body is explanation enough for Jungkook. There’s two thick, leaking vines fucking into Namjoon, quickly and with full force. He doesn’t even need to move for Jungkook to feel how they’re shaking Namjoon’s entire body.
“Fuck,” Jungkook mumbles, cock twitching against his and Namjoon’s stomach. Namjoon’s moans and whines are quickly getting to his head and Jungkook wants nothing more than for him to continue . “Please, Joon, please go on.”
Namjoon pushes himself up on the table, seemingly needing a lot of strength to do so. Like this, Jungkook gets a full view of his upper body. Under the shirt, Namjoon’s skin bulges whenever one of the vines thrusts in too deep. Every time the plant meets the inside of Namjoon’s lower stomach, the older whines, body shaking so hard Jungkook fears he might not be able to keep himself up for much longer.
Yet, Namjoon keeps his hands on the table and continues to thrust into Jungkook who, fair enough, might come just from the pain on his ankles and wrists, and from seeing Namjoon being torn apart by the vines. The older’s thrusts aren’t as forceful as they were before, which is no surprise, but they’re enough to soon make Jungkook reach another high.
He comes untouched, but this time he feels it. He feels the heat rising in his body, the pleasure taking over as there’s a drop of blood moving down his arm. He feels Namjoon thrusting into him, brushing his prostate every time. He sees and hears Namjoon, the way he moans, the way the tight shirt bulges whenever the vines fuck into him.
So eventually, Jungkook spills with a loud moan, trying his best not to throw back his head, because that would mean he’d have to tear his eyes off of Namjoon.
When his orgasm is all drawn out, Jungkook is heavily panting, chest heaving and the pain is nearly growing unbearable. Yet, he tries to find the strength to speak.
“It’s okay, Joon. You can stop.” He groans as Namjoon thrusts into him one more, oversensitivity making him squirm as much as the vines allow it. “Let it finish for you.”
That seems to be all Namjoon needs to hear. He lets his upper body drop back onto Jungkook’s without pulling out, letting the vines fuck into him now, moans and screams of pleasure escaping his mouth. Jungkook can feel the vines pressing against his skin through the other’s shirt and it’s driving him insane. Namjoon’s face is buried in Jungkook’s chest as he finally comes and fills Jungkook with his warmth, subconsciously thrusting into him a few more times until he’s done.
His head is still resting on Jungkook’s chest as he whimpers a few times before he’s able to reach behind himself and get ahold of the plant, pulling on both its vines, strong enough for them to retreat on their own. The vines on Jungkook’s wrists and ankles seem to follow the example.
Jungkook shoots a look at his bleeding wrists. He knows that the healing is going to itch like hell, but chooses not to pay much attention to it right now.
“Does it know it’s over?”
Namjoon hums. “Seems like it. Interesting.”
“How are you feeling?”
Namjoon huffs a laugh. “My butt is sticky. But overall I'm feeling pretty good. What about you?”
Namjoon finally gets up, pulling out in the process. His arms are visibly shaking.
“I’m okay,” Jungkook responds. “You sure you don’t want to sit down for a moment?”
Namjoon shakes his head, then seems to change his mind and lowers himself on the chair, grimacing.
“Don’t tell me you’ve never bottomed before.” Jungkook laughs.
“What about it?”
It takes them a while to clean up. They’re lucky Namjoon has a sink in his lab, but the plant seems to be upset, even when both of them are fully dressed with their security gear again.
The vines are wildly moving across the floor, making both of them extra cautious not to step on them.
“It never acted this way.” Namjoon furrows his brows as one of the vines shoots by his feet. “I’m gonna have to write that down.”
Jungkook suddenly has an enlightening moment. “Joon, did you ever get to turn off that camera?”
The older curses under his breath. “I forgot! How could I forget!”
“The poor security guard.” Jungkook shoots the other a smile.
“He’s seen weirder stuff, I believe. I just didn’t want you to be so exposed to, well, everything.”
“Oh, I’ll be alright. As long as you’ll let me go home to sleep now. I know I’m still scheduled for four more hours but-“
“You didn’t sleep all night, and neither did I.” Namjoon smiles. “I think we can both go home now. I’ll write my notes down tomorrow.”
On their way out, they both drop their bags with the used security gear into the assigned bin. Much to their surprise, someone shoots around the corner this very second. Jungkook is confused about the obvious shyness on Namjoon’s face, but the confusion doesn’t last long.
“Uh, hi, Yoongi.”
“Jesus, fuck, Namjoon,” the man named Yoongi snaps back. “You said you’d turn the cameras off.”
Jungkook nearly chokes on his spit when he figures that this guy might be the security guard.
“We, uh, we forgot. I’m sorry.” Namjoon scratches the back of his head.
Yoongi’s cheeks flush. “You better be. Next time, please just think of turning the cameras off. Or don’t, whatever.”
Without room for any more words, he rushes past them. Namjoon and Jungkook look after him for a few more seconds before turning to each other.
“I think he liked it,” Jungkook says with a slight chuckle.
“Oh, absolutely.” Namjoon smiles back at him and Jungkook’s heart nearly explodes in his chest.
Dimples .
On their way out, Jungkook gets distracted by two employees fighting over things he doesn’t know anything about.
“Uh,” Namjoon begins, immediately catching Jungkook’s attention again, “so I was thinking, if you want to stay in the company or study in this field, you could apply to be my assistant?”
Jungkook furrows his brows. He’s aware that he initially applied because of Namjoon, but he’s still not sure whether he wants to stick around in this company. “I’ll think about it, yes? I’m currently super unsure as to which direction I’m headed.”
Namjoon smiles. “Sure, it was just an idea. Oh, and also, Kook?”
“Hm?”
“Would you mind going out on a real date with me? One that doesn’t involve fucking plants?”
Jungkook blushes and he’s sure Namjoon can see. “I’d love to.”
“Fine, I mean great. Let’s talk about it then when we’re both not so damn tired.”
They leave the building in silence and grab some coffee on their way to the subway. For some reason Namjoon kisses Jungkook goodbye before getting off on his stop.
The younger is mildly confused, but definitely not complaining.
Back home in bed, Jungkook feels like all of this must’ve been a fever dream.
But the wounds on his wrists and ankles are to prove him wrong these upcoming days.
