Seokjin looks at the form on the computer screen and his grip on his computer mouse tightens. He knows he has to make this decision, knows that this is for the best but he is still a little hesitant and wary of the National Breeding Program.
The world has changed drastically in the past 100 years. What once was a land of equality and prosperity is now in a state of misbalance.
Omegas and alphas are the two breeds which make up the population and once upon a time alphas and omegas used to live in harmony with one alpha pairing with one omega only.
The world was balanced then but in recent years, after the Great War, the population of the alphas had been cut down to half while the omegas population had doubled. The world has been ultimately given over to the omegas with alphas being their advisors and those who couldn’t be involved in the government or the politics began dipping their toes in different fields.
It eventually became an omega’s world as the alphas were still decreasing drastically so the government began to think of different options to make sure the children received the best alpha gene but such a mission was a long and pain staking process.
During such a time a crisis, a scientist decided to experiment on his own. He was a purebred alpha, the one born from generations of alphas who only ever produced alphas. He secretly impregnated omegas, cheated them, forced some and married a couple. He did it all for his experiment and when most of the children turned out to be alphas; the scientist knew who they were supposed to target and asked the government to pay him for his information and experiment.
The government officials captured the scientist before anything got out. They even got in the omegas that had given birth to alphas while those with an omega child were unfortunately imprisoned as the government didn’t want to trust anyone with this information. It could chaotic in an instant if not dealt carefully.
Through the course of many years, the government tried their hardest to raise those alphas in the best of environment. They wanted someone who would obey their command and agree to breed omegas just so the alpha population increases but they couldn’t change what was truly human nature.
Those alphas were humans with feelings and preferences and choices despite how they have been raised. While some easily obeyed, an alpha’s pride and ego got in the way of some and the government hit another wall when they were unable to successfully let these alphas mate.
And so, the omegas of the world began to evolve. Omegas began to become couples, they began to let go of their natural instincts in order to survive and to love. Seeing such development, companies began to care for the need of such omegas. They designed pills for omegas to live happily in a world where seeing an alpha became a rarity. They started to make medicines that only dulled the omegas heats as it was already profitable between omegas to accompany each other during heats. They even made drugs to allow the male omegas to impregnate other omegas.
The world didn’t need the alphas anymore but the alphas did need the omegas. The alphas that could influence the world gathered and proposed the National Breeding Program. It was an easy way for willing omegas to ask for an alpha for three years. The omega and the alpha could mate and produce an offspring which would have a higher chance of turning out to be alphas.
The alphas proposed this plan to the government, desperately hoped that there would be omegas out there that still needs alphas and when the program was launched, the number of omegas asking for alphas was tremendous. Because of their ancestry, mating multiple omegas was fine with alphas and sharing their alpha with other omegas of one pack was also okay with omegas. It would also take time but it would allow the omegas to have the freedom to choose and for the alphas to continue their lineage without having to force the omegas.
And this is what brings everything down to Seokjin as he looks at his chosen alpha’s Breeding Program profile on his laptop.
Seokjin is of age now. He is matured enough, ready to mate and he even has a fortune behind him to support his child. He is ready to finally mate and he would love an alpha very much but the decision is a bit tricky because Seokjin isn’t the only omega of his pack. Seokjin has five other omegas in his pack and he wants four of them to also mate with the alpha he has in mind.
Seokjin had filled out the form and everything is in place for his request. He knows his request will be approved, every omega’s does but he bites his lips as he thinks of the omegas of his house. They aren’t exactly easy to deal with and the fact that Seokjin hasn’t told them is also something that’s to be considered.
But Seokjin knows this is his chance. He needs to do this now or else he will lose something really precious. And so Seokjin clicks the submit button and leans back as an email is sent to him showing that his request has been successfully sent.
Seokjin looks at the picture of the alpha he requested for and says wearily, “you better be worth it, Min Yoongi.”
