Chapter Text
Chae Song-hwa was in a good mood that day. She had finished her outpatient clinic early, had no surgeries lined up, and in case anything happened, a colleague could cover for her at their hospital in Sokcho.
She hummed along to Zoo on the radio as she drove back home to Seoul for the weekend. She missed her boys.
As it turns out, the boys didn't seem to miss her at all. Everyone was still caught up that Friday and couldn't promise dinner with her.
Seoul was still as busy as ever, she thought to herself.
I'm really starting to sound like a country girl.
"We'll see each other at band practice tomorrow anyway," Jun-wan told her.
"He's right, Song-hwa. You should just get to bed early tonight," Ahn Jeong-won added.
The neurosurgeon pouted at them. She stopped by Yulje Medical Center first thing and was hanging around their office, hoping one of them had their schedules freed up.
"Well if it isn't the high and lofty Chae Song-hwa come from the outskirts of Sokcho!" Lee Ik-jun beamed at her as he entered the office.
"Yes, and I can't believe you guys said no to the Chinese restaurant nearby." She looked at the packets of food spread out on the table. "This is just sad."
The boys had been coming in and out of the office all day, eating as much as they could before leaving to attend to their calls and other patients.
"You're one to talk." Ik-jun took a bite of sundae. "You used to live off this kind of food just a few months ago."
Song-hwa grinned at him. "I've been eating well in Sokcho. The hours are so much better." She really was looking much healthier these days. "You should all come down there."
"Omma has been asking about Sokcho," said Seok-hyeong, entering the room. "You're here early, Song-hwa. Are things not busy over there?"
"I got someone to cover for me at the hospital so I could come here earlier." She looked at the four men - boys to her, really - as they gorged on various take-out on the table, no one really looking at her. "And since we're all here, let me buy you guys dinner."
"Can't, I have surgery in a bit," said Jun-wan with food full in his mouth. "It'll last me about 6 hours."
"Me, too," Ik-jun added.
"I'm monitoring a patient. Her NST didn't look so good before I got here. We might have to do a cesarean section," shrugged Seok-hyeong.
Everyone turned to Jeong-won.
"Well I..." he cleared his throat. "I have a date."
Everybody whooped. Father Ahn was finally seeing someone besides the God Almighty.
"But you could join us if you want, Song-hwa," he offered.
"Yes, treat him and his girlfriend to dinner so Gyeo-ul can eat a good meal for once," Jun-wan muttered.
Jeong-won glared at him.
Song-hwa's face lit up. "Can I?"
Father Ahn nodded at her, smiling. "Gyeo-ul won't mind." He sighed. "At least now she can hang out with one of my friends who isn't crazy or inappropriate."
"Ya!" The guys cried out in unison, sneering at Jeong-won.
Song-hwa laughed. She missed her boys.
