Only Fools | Jikook | Omegaverse

Summary:

Jimin is an omega, known for his beauty, his elegance, his charm - but also his undeniable wit. He's a social butterfly, hard to ignore and even harder to hate.

Jungkook is an alpha with a difficult past that he can't seem to let go of. Only his closest friends know that behind his callous image, he hides a soft heart.

Two generations ago omegas started this whole rebellion against alphas. They were sick and tired of submitting. They were sick and tired of being pushed around, manipulated, used, raped and dominated by alphas. Everybody knew that alphas and omegas just didn't get along and rarely ever mated anymore, the told stories of their grandmothers and grandfather still being so present.

But Jimin's and Jungkook's lives kept crossing as the years went by. No matter how hard they tried to fight their instincts and desires, they gravitated towards each other like two opposite magnets, destined to collide...

Chapter Text

Prologue

Sometimes Jimin secretly wished things were different. No, really. This whole bickering with alphas was quite exhausting. But as an omega it was just normal to not get along with them.

Bickering, fighting, pranking each other; it was part of every day life. And almost like the morning cup of coffee, it became a habit, a dynamic you couldn't really escape, because it was taught to alphas and omegas from the moment they were born.

Hence, it was not uncommon nowadays to see mates from the same rank, or alphas and omegas mating with betas instead. Of course there were still some alpha-omega mates. But they were not really welcomed in society and rather side-eyed by the older generation.

»Never submit to an alpha just because you're an omega. Your biology will tell you to give into them, but you need to fight this instinct, my son. You'll have to take control of your inner omega. You're strong, independent and you don't have to submit to anybody.«

Jimin never forgot his fathers words. And he lived by that. But that didn't mean he never questioned it. And that didn't mean he never wished things were different. Less complicated.

Jimin's mother was an omega, his father a beta. They were quite wealthy, with Jimin's father being the best lawyer in town and his mother the secretary of his company. Their relationship was always at eye level and that's something that Jimin was also striving for in a relationship, of course. He didn't want to blindly submit to anybody just because. If anything, his submission would have to be earned. He wanted respect, trust and to feel safe in somebody's arms.

He just didn't understand why he couldn't have that with an alpha. Sure, a lot of them were mean and domineering, but...

...sometimes he couldn't help but feel like he was fighting someone else's fight.
