Work Text:

It had been a long week. A long stressful week. The stress had been building each day and it seemed to stretch on forever. The weight of responsibilities placed on you by others was taking its toll and you’d reached your breaking point. You found yourself clinging to Aizawa as the emotions finally let loose. You buried your face in his chest as the first tears began to fall. Your hands anchor to the soft fabric of his shirt and you hold him as if your life depends on it. He reaches up to softly stroke your hair, guiding you closer as he does.

Your weeping is more intense now, shaking you to your core. Your tears pooling into large wet blotches on his shoulder. He doesn’t seem to mind. He’s not a very emotional guy, but luckily, he never seems bothered when you express yours.

“It’s okay” he whispers as he hugs you close, still delicately stroking your hair.

You quiet for a moment to catch your breath before the next wave of emotion surfaces.

“You did the best you could do in your situation. They shouldn’t put so many expectations on you” He places a delicate kiss on the top of your head. “It’s not your job”.

You nuzzle deeper into his neck, his stubble scratching across your cheek. You close your eyes as you try to calm yourself. He moves his hand to rub slow circles on your back with his thumb. Being this close to Aizawa always calms you down. He always seems to know what you need in times like this. You pull away from his neck just long enough to wipe your tear-stained cheeks before nuzzling back in. Breathing still slightly shaky.

“You’re doing fine. It’ll be okay” He whispers again.

Your crying has mostly ceased now, breathing returning to normal. The weight of this week’s events slightly lifted by your emotional release and his comforting words.

“Thank you, Shouta” You whisper.

Sometimes you just need a good cry.
