Chapter Text
" Seriously King! She's gonna get taken if you don't do it! The runt of the litter is never top pick! He carves his own path! But if you don't hurry up, she's done. She's banged by another guy. Just like that. " Meliodas flailed his arms into the air as he walked.
" Your even shorter than I am. " King pointed out, shooting a scowl at the blonde, attempting to ignore the, "banged by another guy", statement.
" And I have abs, muscles and strength. My growth went elsewhere is you know what I mean. " Meliodas made a good point with a waggle of his brows.
" I don't know what you mean, and I don't want to. " King hissed at his friend, not open to hearing a conversation on Diane for the forth time this week.
" I'm not the point here! Diane is. And if you can't get your $$$$ straight, she's not gonna be the point here, she's gonna be calling another mans name. You really want that? You want her? Or you want another man with her? Eh, King? "
" I'm 100% sure she doesn't like me. Now drop it Meliodas. " King grumbled, further glaring at his friend.
" Dude. She blushes around you, talks to you even more than any of the girls, she calls you by your real name, she asks you to help her study, she helps you with sports, and the amount of times her breasts have literally ended in your face isn't even funny anymore. She has feelings for you. On what level? I don't know. But if your gonna say that's just pity, I don't understand how pity equals her staring at you in all are classes. Math, English, in the library, and I don't have any other classes with you guys... But I know you have Art, History and Music together, so I reckon she stares in those classes to, she keeps her eyes locked. I'm telling ya, she likes you at a minimum. "
King was shocked at his friends words. He wasn't wrong; all of that did indeed happen..." I'll think about it... "
" Yes! " Meliodas cheered.
All the Sins, plus Elaine and Elizabeth were all peacefully eating there lunch as King thought back to the scene. Ask out Diane... Ask out Diane... Hm... Seems reasonable... King thought to himself. He took a deep breath and gathered his courage up. All of it. He could practically feel Meliodas' eyes dart from Elizabeth and to himself, a big grin showing as soon as he heard King.
" Uh, Diane? " He asked hesitantly.
" Hm? Yeah, Ha-- King? " The reminder she knew his real name...
" Uhm, " he scratched the back of his head. " Would you mind if we talk af-- "
" Yo! Diane! " A voice called out from across the lunchroom.
Everyone's eyes shot over to the blonde wildly waving his arm in the air as he called out to the girl, a super cheesy grin plastered his face. He was quick to jog over to the group of friends.
" Oh, hey Howzer. " Though she didn't need to say his name for everyone to know who he was.
Howzer was that tall, blonde, muscular jock everybody knew. His family was rich, his grades were good and he was skilled at sports. He better have a good reason for barging in on Kings way of confessing to her after class...
" Aye, babe. " Howzer said with a peck to the top of Diane's hair.
The word killed King.
Everything Meliodas had pointed out to him died with that single word. That single kiss.
" Uh... " The whole group, minus King, muttered.
Howzer faked an offended look. " You didn't tell them, did you? I'm hurt. "
Diane giggled. " No, I didn't. "
Everyone just looked at them. This was not happening right before King could confess to her--
" Were dating. " Howzer shrugged.
The bridge for King collapsed. Damn it. Meliodas was right about everything. She did do all those things, and if he wasn't fast she'd get another guy.
" I gotta go to the restroom... I'll be back guys... " King excused himself, he quickly jogged out of the lunchroom.
He was on the roof, leaning over the railing as tears fell down his face. Was he really crying over his childhood best friend? The women that made him smile? The only person besides his sister who saw the kinder side to him? But if she was happy... Whatever. Not his problem anymore...
