The Icarus to Your Certainty

Summary:

FORMERLY- "...the only heaven i'll be sent to"

Keigo Takami had successfully infiltrated the League of Villains, as he was instructed to do. He flew too close to a fiery sun, unwilling to tarnish red wings with blue flame despite what the world might insist. Dabi never meant for all of this to happen.
Family secrets take Keigo down a dark path of realization, of memories he had long since forgotten. Family problems take Touya down a path of healing, of acceptance and understanding.
Two lovers, set on the same path, differed so greatly. Will they be able to make it out of this corrupt hero society alive?

A story about Family, about Identity, and about Love.
(AND shitting on Endeavor and refusing to give him a redemption arc)

Chapter 1: -Angel-

Chapter Text

Hawks bit his lip, almost to the point of drawing blood to keep himself quiet. There were people just below them, other league members.

Dabi tried to reassure him that they wouldn’t care, that this wasn’t uncommon.

{“I was born sick...but I love it”}

Keigo and Touya were quiet, laying side by side

Hawks pulled Dabi closer, his wings were fluffed up and shaking, along with the rest of his body.

Dabi pressed a soft kiss on his lips, much different than the ones before. This one had feelings behind it, this one had meaning.

Dabi laid down beside Hawks. They both laid silent and caught their breath before Dabi grabbed the black blanket and pulled it up. He rolled over, pushing a red wing out of the way before laying down on the blonde’s chest.

Normally, this didn’t happen. One would walk away, or they’d fall asleep on opposite sides of the bed, simply out of awkwardness.

Hawks wasn’t opposed to it though. Dabi was a nice free heater. One hand reached up to pet through strands of thick black hair.

Scarred legs entangled with clean ones. Dabi’s arms wrapped around Hawk’s waist, his ear pressed up against his heartbeat.

“You’re too good to me Angel...” he murmured, his eyes slowly closing. Hawks knew in the back of his head what the inevitable was.

{“I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies...”}

It would happen tomorrow...

After almost a year of watching and reporting, hero’s were finally going to ambush the league...Hawks would be revealed as the mole...and they’d all be arrested.

Maybe he was too good for Dabi...for a criminal. Hawks had tried to convince himself that the sex, the affection between them was for information...but it turned into so much more.

The fire-bender buried his face into Hawks’ chest and held him securely.

“I know..we’re shitty people...and I know I don’t deserve you...but I do love you...”

Dabi’s voice was rough, as usual, but there was kindness, and genuine emotion wrapped in his words.

{“if I’m a pagan of the good times... my lover is the sunlight”}

“I love you too,” he said, kissing the top of Dabi’s head.

Dabi wondered if he meant it...if this, any of this, was real. He had to convince himself it was.

“Go to sleep...it’s late anyways...I’ll be here in the morning...” he wouldn’t. He would be gone by then, and heroes would be on the way.

Dabi nodded, his teal eyes closing. After a while of silence, his breathing was still, and he was fast asleep. Hawks drifted off not long after. He had to enjoy this, enjoy what time he had left.

Hawks continued petting the black hair until he fell asleep. His hand remained in his hair until sunlight breached the windows.

Hawks’ phone was ringing. Thankfully Dabi remained asleep, even as Hawks moved over to answer the phone. It was Endeavor.

“You ready?” The voice echoed through the speakers of the phone

Hawks glanced back at the sleeping man. His chest tightened. His grip around Dabi tightened slightly and he nodded

“Yeah...I am.”

Hawks glanced back at Dabi as he tried to squeeze out of his grip. He slowly pushed the taller man off of him and got up. He looked around at the clothes thrown around haphazardly. He stood and grabbed pants.

He sighed. There was so much he wanted to tell Dabi...what if Hawks warned him and he got away? What if they could see each other again?

“Angel....where you going?” Dabi’s rough voice echoed through the empty room. Hawks froze.

“Nowhere, just getting dressed...go back to sleep, I’ll be back soon.” he said, moving back over to the bed and kissing Dabi softly, pushing him back into bed. Dabi reaches out for him, but didn’t grab him. He fell back asleep.

Small tears pricked at the edges of Hawks’ eyes.

“I love you...ashtray..” he said sadly. His voice was breaking.

Hawks left. He couldn’t stay any longer. He left the hideout of the League and waited for the hero’s on a nearby roof. He had sent his location.

Hawks saw the unmistakable fire of Endeavor in the distance just as day broke through. Just as the sun kissed the sky.

He flew down and met them there. He was...uncharacteristically quiet. No one asked...no one cared.

The hero’s raided the base. Hawks stayed behind and listened to the muffled fight. Soon, one by one, League members were taken out of the building in the highest tech cuffs and loaded into high security trucks.

Dabi was among them. Some of the others were pliant. They were silent and still. Dabi was not. He was struggling against the restraints and eyes were searching frantically for something...his angel.

Where was Hawks? What happened to him...where did he go? Did he escape? Was he hurt? Was he still fighting heroes? HOw were they caught so off guard? They should've been ready for this! They were the League of Villains! Those questions wouldn’t be answered.

Dabi was loaded into the truck with the others. They were all transported to a maximum security prison outside of town. Dabi watched as the trucks were unloaded. Hawks wasn’t in either of them. They were led to individual cells where they were told they’d be questions later.

No one had a plan. No one had heard from Shigaraki or Kurogiri.

Many of the league was sure this was the end. They’d be tried for their crimes and killed. Japan would rejoice that the renowned league of villains was gone and they were safe once again.

Dabi knew the inevitable.

——

Hours later, the door to Dabi’s cell was opened. The metallic clicking of locks told him so.

He looked up to see a hero walk in..no. Not just any hero. Endeavor. Dabi glared at the man and watched keenly as he sat down. Endeavor asked for him specifically...he just knew it.

“So what now..?” Dabi asked, breaking the silence.

“Shut up,” he muttered, flipping threw various papers and reports. One of which, was Hawks report.

Hawks had left out a lot in the report. He didn’t write down Dabi’s real name, he didn’t write down Dabi’s real age, where he came from, or the extent of his quirk; Endeavor was sure he knew why. Thus, the interrogation began.

Dabi didn’t answer many questions. Endeavor wasn’t very please with the lack of response...but he knew someone who might be able to help. Endeavor left abruptly, slamming the silver door behind him. Dabi slumped back in the seat as much as the restraints would allow. Dabi closed his eyes and worried about what was going on with Hawks.

'Dammit where was he? Why hadn’t he been there when heroes attacked?!'

The clicking of the door started again. Dabi’s eyes shot open and he sat up straight. The door was opened....and Hawks walked in.

“What...?” Was he being allowed to visit...?

Hawks wasn’t in chains...he wasn’t hurt..or followed by any heroes to make sure he wouldn’t free Dabi. Hawks was just...walking in.

{“My church offers no absolution..she tells me worship in the bedroom...”}

“Dabi...” he said, sitting down on the chair. His voice was filled with sadness..regret... and most of all....love.

“Angel...what’s going on!? Why aren’t you in chains?!” Dabi pulled against his restraints again...this time much harder

Hawks looked at his lover and sighed.

“Dabi...I...”

Things started clicking. Why Hawks would disappear sometimes..why he insisted on never revealing his backstory or why he wanted to be a villain...
Why they could never figure out how the heroes knew when and where they’d attack...and yet still couldn’t find a mole.

“You’re the mole aren’t you...you’re the hero who infiltrated the league..aren’t you!?” Dabi wasn’t angry...he was infuriated but not at Hawks. At himself.

He should’ve seen this earlier. He should’ve never given into temptation and slept with Hawks. He never should’ve thought he was worth any of that.

Hawks wasn’t surprised by Dabi’s anger...he was expecting far worse.

Hawks nodded slowly, his lips sewn shut. He didn’t want to face Dabi...not like this.

“You piece of shit! Do you were only sleeping with me for information!? For something to give to the heroes!?”

Dabi’s eyes would've been glassy with tears had they not been charred away years ago.

Hawks flinched at his voice. He was tense, and still. His eyes were cast downward. He wanted to deny it, deny it all. He really loved Dabi didn’t he? But...no matter what he said...he knew Dabi wouldn’t believe him.

“So all of that was fake wasn’t it!? Wasn’t it Angel?”

Dabi’s last spoken words weren’t fueled with anger..no, they were fueled with sadness, regret...

Dabi really felt something for him. Even if he didn’t deserve it..even if he was a no good lowlife..even if he was a villain, and Hawks was a hero.

“No...it wasn’t...not all of it.” Hawks spoke quietly. He really did love Dabi..he knew he did.

“Dabi I-“

“Shut the fuck up! You don’t give a shit about me! About whatever we were!” Every single part of Dabi was demanding tears, but burned tear ducts would not allow it. His face showed true pain, and hatred, but not at Hawks...at himself... Dabi knew it was too good to be true. No one would love him...not the way Hawks made him believe he did.

“Dabi that’s not true! Ok there was something! But..but I do really love you!”

“Oh bullshit! Sure you do. None of that was real..”
Dabi’s voice cracked and broke as his chest got heavier. He wanted it to be real, he really really did. But he was too far gone to trust Hawks.

“None of that was real and you know it!” He shouted “I loved you Keigo!”

Hawks cringed after hearing his true name fall from Dabi’s lips.

“Dabi please...I really..I really loved you.! I can fix this!”

“No you didn’t...just admit it! I’m a lowlife villain! I’ve killed people! I don’t deserve you..”

Hawks shakes. He looked back up at his lover..his ashtray...his lowlife, no good, tired, handsome ashtray...

“I’m sorry...Touya.”

“No...I’m sorry...Angel.”
