Chapter Text

Zenitsu Agatsuma, 19 years old, former law student, and future homeless man. At this very moment, he was in his apartment packing the few things he still had, while the memories of that night haunted his head.

Zenitsu was the complete opposite of a popular guy. Boys considered him weak, and girls felt uncomfortable around him. Yes, maybe Zenitsu was a bit of an idiot, but he wasn't a bad guy at all, he just didn't have the best techniques at socializing.

That is why that day he immediately accepted the invitation to a party with his other classmates, at the house of one of them. He did not know the organizer, but he would not miss the opportunity to rub shoulders with the most popular students on campus.

That night, Zenitsu didn't attract the attention of many people. In fact, most of the night was spent alone or making short talks with guests who weren't even his classmates.

However, a boy and a girl he didn't know stayed with him all the time. Although the boy wasn't very handsome, the girl was astonishingly beautiful and Zenitsu was quickly spellbound by her beauty.

When it was late enough, Zenitsu decided to go home. However, the pair of strangers asked to accompany him, as they were interested in him. The socially inexperienced Zenitsu, a bit excited, agreed to invite them to his apartment.

However, the next day, Zenitsu woke up lying on his living room floor. His head ached, and quite a few things of value were missing. Obviously, the mysterious duo were not present either.

Breathing heavily, Zenitsu quickly went through his drawers, confirming his greatest fear. The money he had saved to pay a rent advance was not there either.

With his gaze fixed on that empty wooden drawer, tears began to flow from Zenitsu's eyes without him even realizing.

Zenitsu wasted no time saying goodbye to the landlord, remembering how he didn't hesitate to kick him out as this was his second month in debt, without even hearing what had happened to him.

Where would he go now? His parents' house wasn't an option. He couldn't explain to them that he didn't have money to pay the rent, since they deposited him every month.

Although he could find another place near his university, another problem was around the corner. Zenitsu was afraid to go back there. In fact, his fear was so great that even staying in that neighborhood made his stomach twist. Because Zenitsu was not only silly and shy, he was also a huge coward. Possibly crossing paths with the pair from the night before made his throat tighten.

Then, a face appeared in Zenitsu's head: his grandfather. Zenitsu's grandfather was the person he loved the most in the world, surpassing even himself. However, it was this very reason that made him hesitate to consult him. His grandfather lived in the countryside, on the outskirts of the city, and owned hectares of crops. Appearing out of nowhere and asking for a place to stay, knowing all the work the old man had, was too rude even for Zenitsu.

Still, in order to escape those streets, Zenitsu steeled himself and spent the money he carried with him to undertake a trip to the rural area where his beloved grandpa was living.

After two hours of travel, Zenitsu began to walk through the long streets until he could see his grandfather's house in the distance. He ran to the farm, where the old man would surely be, and stopped short when he found someone else in his place. A boy with reddish hair, tanned skin and similar height to his was fixing a tractor. His white tank top denoted that the unknown boy had a more toned body than Zenitsu, who did not possess a single remarkable muscle.

Zenitsu kept his eyes focused on the redhead's arms, so he didn't notice when the latter turned around and noticed his presence.

"Hi, can I help ya?" The boy asked Zenitsu, taking a cloth located on a nearby bench and wiping the grease from his face. "If you looking for Mr. Kuwajima, he left an hour ago so he should arrive at any moment"

Upon hearing the name of his grandfather, Zenitsu reacted and raised his eyes, forgetting about the subject's biceps and fixing his gaze on the other's eyes. Again, Zenitsu felt his body freeze as he couldn't look away. In all his life, Zenitsu had never seen such beautiful eyes as those of that boy in front of him.

"You wanna come wait inside?" The stranger asked after noticing the suitcases that Zenitsu brought with him, raising an eyebrow at the lack of reactions that the blond boy presented. Because of this, he decided to clean his greasy hands and approach him himself.

"Whatever. Nice to meet ya, I'm Tanjirou Kamado "

"Tanjirou Kamado" Zenitsu thought, wondering when time would run again, since he felt that everything had stopped moving except for his strong heartbeat.
