Work Text:
Comfort.
Comfort is
Elias' big chair, that faces the fireplace.
Comfort is
Lap sitting, thighs on thighs.
Comfort is
Head on chest, arms around tight.
Comfort is
White gloves and wool sweaters.
It's soft caresses and gentle strokes.
It's nuzzles and hair ruffling.
Comfort is
staring into the flames, and feeling the warmth.
Comfort is
Ruth, curled up in front of the hearth, dreaming of the chase.
Comfort is
Silver bringing in a tea tray with tea and biscuits, still warm from the oven.
Comfort is
The quiet, only hearing the fire crackle.
Comfort is
Contented huffs and sighs and snuggles.
Comfort is
Letting go of the day, and stilling yourself.
Comfort is
Leaving the world for a while to rest your mind and body.
Comfort is
Protective arms around you, knowing you are safe.
Comfort is
Peace.
Comfort is
Home.
