Chapter Text
When water meets electricity, it is a dangerous combination. Yet when a hydro mage meets an electro swordswoman, the connection formed between them is more than just a shock and their first meeting forms the circuit for their currents.
The chilly night air feels a little warmer near the bustling night market of Liyue Harbor that’s crowded with locals and tourists strolling along the stretch of the harbor. People are moving from stall to stall, browsing the goods of skilled artisans and purchasing local specialties. Though Liyue’s night market is famous for it’s crafted trinkets, there are stalls that sell freshly cooked street foods that are loved by travelers and locals.
On this frigid night in the mid autumn, there's a special visitor in Liyue Harbor that came all the way from Mondstadt to explore the high mountains and experience the wonders of Liyue's cuisine. Standing in front of one of the many food stalls, the great astrologist, Mona, is counting the Mora she has on hand. She recounts the amount of Mora several times, each time the total of it makes her feel sadder. It’s just a little shy of what she needs to purchase the delicious looking tiger fish kebab that’s perfectly grilled over an open flame.
Mona’s stomach grumbles as she pouts, eyes staring longingly at the mouth watering food in front of her. Extremely dejected, the astrologist couldn’t bear to wait around the fragrant food stalls any longer and turned to leave. But before she could take a step away, someone called out to her.
“Hey, you’ve been standing around for a while. Do you want some?”, a gentle though stern voice comes from the person that’s standing beside her.
She was too preoccupied with counting the Mora she has that she didn’t realize someone was next to her the whole time. The raven haired girl turns her head in the direction of the person speaking to her and she sees that it’s a beauty with hair the shade of soft lilac and pretty cat-like eyes.
So Mona is momentarily stunned by their appearance before she catches herself from staring at them like a fool any longer and gives them an answer. “I do, though maybe not tonight”, Mona says with a small smile but her voice foils her attempts in masking her emotions.
The purple haired girl seems to have noticed the disappointment in Mona’s voice and offers her two fish kebabs, “here, have some”, almost shoving the steaming food in the astrologist’s face.
“No no no, I can’t accept them. They’re-”, taking a step back, Mona waves a hand in front of herself, trying to decline the offer. However the stranger calmly grabs a hold of the astrologist’s moving hand and places the kebabs in her grasp.
“They taste great when they’re still hot”, the girl says with a slight curve of her lips, “and if you like them, maybe I can treat you to an even more delicious tiger fish next time”, finishing their sentence with a wink before they walk off into the crowd.
Mona stares at the stranger’s back as her cheeks are slightly flushed after their interactions. She takes a bite of the fish kebab while leaving the night market, “it really does taste great”.
When the stars foretold that she will have a good evening today, this truly is not what she expected at all. Having a generous and pretty girl treating her to some of Liyue’s delicious cuisine might just be more than a stroke of luck for the astrologist.
On her walk back to the inn she’s staying at, nibbling on the bare skewer, her mind pictures the beautiful image of the stranger, thinking of how good they looked with their hair down in their casual clothes, “I hope we get to meet again”.
