Tap tap taptap tap
Subtitles can be really hard to keep up with untrained eyes is something that Raven had learned quickly after an hour in Tokyo. Lazily flipping from channel to channel hoping to find a show to please her boredom. Holding back a yawn, Raven is trying to fight back her feline nature to just curl up on the sofa, which was comfy certified, and go to sleep.
Tap tap taptap tap
‘That can’t by my tail,’ Raven thought to herself muting the already low volumed television. She quickly looked at her tail and sees it limp on the sofa. The tapping continues. Raven snaps her head to the source of the tapping, which is her roommate and cousin, Chyna. Curiously watching the hunchback form of her cousin tapping furiously on the laptop, Raven makes her way to the hotel desk.
Bumping her hip against the desk, knocking over Chyna’s water bottle, “Yoooo-.“
“You did that on purpose!” Chyna cuts her off pointing at the water bottle while not looking away from the computer.
“You know I can’t control my kitty urges,” Raven said playfully rolling her eyes. She leans closer to get a good look at the computer a see…a script? “What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to prepare for my presentation tomorrow,” Chyna said quickly, which is a sign that she’s stressed, “I have to make sure I’m adequately preparing for any questions or concerns the students will have for me tomorrow.” Raven tunes her out on her frantic, stressful rant and glances outside. Tokyo is absolutely stunning.
“I don’t see why you’re stressing out on vacation.”
“Vacation?” Chyna said finally looking away from the laptop, “this is a business trip which is funded by the Elite Hero’s Society--.”
“The temp agency?”
“Definitely not a temp agency! It’s an elite organization, hence the name, where the most promising, aspiring heroes go to train to become the top heroes of society,” Chyna said with her chest puffed out, “this is why my job--.”
“Your part-time job.”
There’s a pause. Chyna stares at Raven with a look of pure, unadulterated annoyances.
“What?” Raven asked with her signature Cheshire smile forming.
“Nothing,” Chyna rolled her eyes and returned back to her laptop, now trying to regain her train of thoughts again. The shorter feline decided to let her little cousin alone for the moment and headed to the small closet, fishing out her shoes. The weather in the springtime is perfect! She found her brown sandals that match her cute, navy romper she has on right now.
“Where are you going?” Chyna asked seeing Raven walking towards the door with her crossbody.
“Exploring.”
“That wasn’t part of the deal!” Chyna exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at the confused feline, “you were fly over here and housed and fed, FOR FREE, with the condition of your being my personal assistant!”
“But I’m not even getting paid.”
“Doesn’t matter! You’re here for a business, not a vacation,” she said crossing her arms, “you don’t get to do your own thing while I am burdened with all this work.”
“Fineee, I guess I stay,” Raven said with a dramatic sigh, ignoring the smirk of victory Chyna thinks she had claimed. “You know this is a beautiful hotel room.”
“It is.”
“Like REALLY beautiful,” Raven said looking around, “The furniture is just perfect!”
“Raven, like I’m trying not to be a bitch but can you, uh, not do this,” Chyna said rubbing her forehead, “How about you pull out the spare laptop and--.”
“You know my nails are just itching to scratch that sofa.”
“JUST GO!” Chyna said exasperatedly, the door slamming shut before she finished her sentence. She sighs trying to will this headache away, “personal assistant my ass, tch, she’s barely good at being here for moral support already!!”
The feeling of annoyance quickly washes away from the young feline. She couldn’t help but replace that feeling with sadness, thinking about the hardship her big cousin has been through over the years. Maybe this is more than a business trip, maybe this is an opportunity for both of them to find themselves.
“You know what? I don’t need a damn script, I’m a G!” Chyna said scoffing at her computer, “but I will save this first, though.” She quickly navigated to the file option to save her progress (six pages, single-spaced). And then…. there was blue…The blue screen of death.
“NOOOOO!!!” Chyna screeched in horror.
Chyna Stone, Quirk: Black Cat.
---
“So cute,” whispered someone else to their friend. It’s hard to not gain attention in public with a long black tail swishing from side to side, or the cute black ears twitching from time to time. The attention doesn’t bother Raven, who’s pretty immune to it by now, the beauty of Tokyo distracts her from onlookers.
‘Chyna is missing out. I’m sure that kitten will come to her senses and enjoy her vacation,’ Raven's thoughts were interrupted by something rubbing against her leg. Looking down, she sees the cutest, fluffiest white cat.
Lowering herself to the ground, Raven pets the cat, “Hi friend! You wanna be my tour guide?” The friendly cat purred in response. Raven reached in her bag to take a picture of this cute cat with her phone. And she kept reaching and searching for her phone. With her heart dropping to the ground, she left her phone at the hotel.
“Surely I have the name of the hotel written down somewhere,” Raven said looking through her bag. Nope. The only items in the bag are her wallet, lip gloss, gum, and her phone charger. “Well, that’s my first L in Japan.”
The good thing about being a cat is that they always find their way back home. Raven petted the cat once more and headed back to where she thinks the hotel is. After an hour of people asking to take pictures with her, sight-seeing, and many snack breaks, Raven is starting to see familiar buildings and businesses.
‘Finally.’ Raven is sitting on a bench trying to relieve her throbbing feet, ‘I’m five seconds away from taking these sandals off—wait a minute…’ Raven got up on her feet, completely forgetting about the pain, she sniffs the air. Smoke? Suddenly screams and explosions fill the air as people are running away from the scene.
“Oh Shit, a fucking villain attack!” Raven hissed getting ready to run, but a hand roughly grabbed her tail.
“Well, what a pretty pussy cat we have here,” a menacing voice snarled from behind. Raven slowly turns her head to see the owner of the voice and the first thing she notices is…his scars. Scars all over his body. Seeing her eyes widen in shock, the man chuckles. “What? Am I not pretty enough for you?” he asked pulling her tail. Raven winced in pain, cursing her bad luck. ‘Chyna this has to be your doing!’
“Hey Dabi! Having a hostage was not part of the plan!” yelled a newcomer, it’s a man dress in all black from head to toe except for the white around his eyes.
“Dabi we really got to go! The heroes will show up any moment,” the mysterious man said frantically, “you fucking disgust me.” Raven paused for a second looking at the man ‘….Okay. What the fuck,’ still struggling to get out of the man’s powerful grip without breaking her tail.
“Dabi, Twice let go of her.”
“Fucking Hawks,” Dabi snarled. Yanking Raven’s tail closer to him, Dabi wraps his other arm around her neck. “How about you disappear, and we won’t find out if she has nine lives or not.”
“I didn’t know taking hostages was your style,” the man, Hawks, said mockingly.
“Can I leave?” The hero and villain paused their taunting to look a Raven.
“Hey! You’re aren’t supposed to be talking!!” exclaimed Twice pointing and accusing finger at her, “Can she leave, though?”
“He’s right,” Dabi said, ignoring the last part of Twice’s statement. Leaning closer to Raven’s ear, “why don’t you be a quiet little girl—.” Raven elbows him in the stomach and headbutts him hitting his jaw, effectively causing Dabi to lose his grip.
Dabi regained his composure fast enough to avoid a swap of those razor-sharp nails to the face. “You know what,” Dabi said showing his teeth in an expression of rage, “I hate cats.” Holding his hand out, blue flames conjured up.
Feeling the intense heatwave from the flames, Raven is trying to figure out her next move before she becomes a crisp cat. ‘C’mon fight-or-flight response, activate!’ Seconds felt like hours as Raven’s body becomes limp, and her heart rate decreases. ‘FREEZE??’ Raven is going to die on this beautiful day. Death by blue fire.
“Bye-bye now.” Before the flame could be blasted towards Raven, it had disappeared? “Just my luck,” Dabi said in an annoyed voice turning his head to look at a man clad in black with a white scarf floating around.
“Eraserhead.”
