Work Text:
Taehyung is in the classroom alone.
The silence is deafening but to him, it's the calmest place in the world. He could only hear his own footsteps dragging on the tiled floor. His fingernails are tapping with a random beat on the surface of each desk he passes.
It's still early and only a few students walk inside the campus at this time when he peeks out from the window of the classroom which is on the second floor. He is slightly terrified from the height but once he recovers, he lets out an awed sigh, taking in the beautiful scenery of their huge field and series of buildings surrounding it.
Then his thoughts slip away to what he envisions in the near future. His graduation, only a week away, which is why they have no proper classes anymore due to preparations. Even so, they are still obliged to come to school every day for graduation exercises, especially Taehyung since he needs to report to his adviser in his office.
He has this exciting feeling when he imagines himself walking to the stage, receiving that diploma and giving a sincere speech in front of the entire university. His adviser, Professor Jeon aka the love of his life, is looking at him along with his other professors where he delivers his speech to the blinding crowd, his parents will be there and the whole university will be looking at him.
And yes, he will miss this school. This is where good things bloom. This is where he met his treasured friends. This is where he started to be independent, stepping out of his hometown for the first time to fulfill his dream and most importantly—
He walks up to the board and grabs small chalk, and starts scribbling random things in circles and lines. Well not long after that, a voice enters the silent classroom.
"You are supposed to prepare a lengthy speech for graduation, Mr. Kim."
Taehyung stops and smiles to himself. He doesn't need to know who owns that sweet voice is but still, he spins around to see a slightly amused professor at the back door with his arms curl to his chest, pretending to reprimand Taehyung with a smile hiding on his lips.
— This is where he met Jeon Jungkook.
"I still got plenty of time, professor." He shrugs, now he is smiling from ear to ear as Professor Jeon approaches him until he is standing in front of the younger.
With Taehyung's back touching the board, Professor Jeon leans in to give him a morning kiss. He is, in fact, as excited as Taehyung when the graduation is near. It means that they can no longer hide their relationship anymore.
Taehyung sighs into that sweet kiss and curls his arms around his neck to further deepen the kiss. Jungkook simply wraps his arms on the curve of his waist in return before they pull away and lean on each other’s foreheads.
“Morning, baby.”
“Morning, hyung.”
“Your mom texted me a while ago.”
Taehyung hums. “What did she say?”
“She wants to know how her ‘child’ is doing in school.”
That puts a confused frown on Taehyung’s face. He looks at the older who is amused at his reaction. Couldn’t hide the fact that Taehyung is still babied by his mother even when he is already an adult. The younger denies it all the time but it seems that his claim is invalid when hours later, Taehyung is being smoldered with kisses by his own mother in front of Jungkook after meeting up with her in the hallway.
He still remembers how welcoming Taehyung’s parents were when Taehyung introduced him after the first few months of dating. He can still remember how anxious he was, occasionally checking himself if he looked good or was it really okay for him to be introduced as a boyfriend, and of course, Taehyung reassured him that he would do great, over and over again.
He could never forget the priceless reaction of his boyfriend’s mother, happy that his son finally introduced the ‘love of his life’.
The taste of homemade cookies never left Jungkook’s tongue that day.
She is still as pretty since the first time they met which was when Jungkook was still studying and young. Taehyung clearly got his beautiful face from his mother, that is what Jungkook thinks while his boyfriend is talking animatedly to his own mother. Until he realizes one thing and snaps himself out to go back to reality.
“Mrs. Kim, may I have a word with you in my office?” Jungkook interrupts their small reunion.
Mrs. Kim coos at Jungkook and pinches his left cheek, “You don’t have to be so formal, Jungkookie. You’re already a part of the family.” To which the latter blushes at the word ‘family’.
Taehyung whines at his mother by his side, reminding her that his boyfriend is a professor and they are on the campus. He looks around, slightly paranoid, in case of students walking by in the hallway, and literally pushes them inside the office while he’s waiting outside, pouting that he’s not in on their conversation.
Jungkook sees that he’s sulking so he reaches out a hand and messes Taehyung’s hair to make him smile again. And so he does and Jungkook couldn’t lie that he feels contented before he closes the faculty door.
Every one in the faculty is slightly busy preparing for graduation so it’s not a shock when he sees that there are only a few professors stationed at their desks. Others are in their respective classrooms with their students or at the gym designing the venue.
Slipping to his own office, he guides Taehyung’s mother to her seat before he locks the door behind them and walks to his desk in front of her. He is slightly nervous, this is the second time that he will be talking to his mother in a one-on-one conversation. The first one was when he told her boldly that he will take good care of Taehyung once he decided to move in with him. And yes he did, did all of the chores in their apartment and made sure that Taehyung is always happy despite all of the hardships they both have. Jungkook made sure that nothing can break them apart.
Though he knows that there’s nothing to be afraid of since both of their families already know each other and accepted them, he couldn’t stop himself from calming down even with a straight face.
“Mrs. Kim, I want to ask your son for his hand in marriage.”
After many times he recited this line in front of the mirror, he finally said it without messing it up. He feels proud for himself and now he looks at his boyfriend’s mother, searching in her eyes for an opposed. No, all he can see is the fondness. She slowly smiles, teary-eyed and whispers, “It’s about time you ask that question, young man.”
Jungkook reciprocates her smile, heart threatening to burst out. He wants to scream out of joy. She gives him her blessing.
“So when’s the wedding?”
Jungkook reddens, playing with his fingers, avoiding her gaze. “I-I haven’t asked him yet.”
“You better do that first. My son catches things pretty well.”
He could only agree but hopefully, this graduation distracts the younger to not know his plan.
They talk for a while before she leaves the office with a ‘Good luck’ and ‘I have to see your mother and go shopping with her in Busan.’
It’s not a shock that their mothers are constantly contacting each other. They get along pretty well. It’s also the same as their fathers, always talking about sports and politics.
At mentioning his mother, Jungkook feels a pang of guilt on his chest. He already talked to his mother first on the phone about it and he could even hear her mother crying on the other line. He feels bad for not telling it to her personally, made up his mind to return to his hometown once everything is well.
“Tell my mom that I’ll be home soon.”
She smiles back. “Of course, my son-in-law. I’ll tell her that.” And she leaves the room.
Son-in-law
He really can’t back out now. A smile creeps up to his face.
“Why are you smiling?”
Jungkook looks up to see Taehyung pops in after minutes since her mother left. “My mom is also smiling and it creeps me out. Is there something you need to talk about?”
“No. It’s nothing, baby. We were just discussing together about her funny episodes with mom.”
Taehyung immediately plops down on his boyfriend’s inviting lap, his favorite place in the world, facing him. He wraps his arms around him and hums after Jungkook finishes talking.
Jungkook continues as he wraps his arms around his waist. “I just miss mom. Maybe I should go back to Busan after I sort everything out here.”
Apart from an excuse, it is also partly true. He actually misses his hometown.
“You should go. It’s been a while after all.”
Yes. It’s probably been months since he last visited, couldn’t find the time since he was busy with work. He looks upon his younger boyfriend, pouting. “Will you come with me?”
Taehyung giggles heartily. Of course, he will go. Why wouldn’t he be?
Hey, you should’ve told me that you’re going to Busan. I should’ve come with you, you traitor!
“Sorry, Jiminie. We’re only visiting Jungkookie hyung’s family. It’s a private thing” Taehyung readjusts his shoulder bag full of a couple of clothes, extra underwear, and other necessities while still holding on to his phone near his ear. “—and besides, it’s not like we’re going sightseeing, y’know?”
They are only visiting Busan for the weekend, afterall.
Maybe , there’s a long pause, Text me as soon as you arrive
Taehyung hums. His boyfriend wordlessly takes his shoulder bag without warning and he scrunches his nose for the loss of weight on his shoulders. Jungkook already carries two bags on either side while he carries nothing except souvenirs and food to pay respects to Jungkook’s family. The weight he is currently carrying is nothing compared to the weight his cocky boyfriend is carrying. Blame those stupid muscles.
“Give me back my bag. That’s really heavy.” Taehyung pouts after hanging upon his best friend.
“No.”
“I can’t let you carry all the stuff. What am I supposed to do?”
Jungkook stares at him unblinking. “Then you’re in charge of holding my hand.” He says while interlacing his fingers against Taehyung’s own and smiles. The latter pushes his mouth in a thin line, trying not to smile. He fails.
Taehyung did just that throughout the whole ride, even if he fell asleep while Jungkook drives. Jungkook even pulls out his hand to maneuver the manual with his other hand on the wheel and then holds Taehyung’s open palm when he’s free.
He’s driving slowly with soft classical music on his radio. Taehyung loves to listen to classical music to the point he sleeps soundly to the melody.
Off to Busan they go.
---
“Baby, wake up.” Jungkook nudges his boyfriend’s knee softly, “we’re here.”
Taehyung groans before opening his eyes to a familiar street. It’s a little past afternoon where the sun is covered with clouds so it’s a cool day. Their car is parked in front of Jungkook’s house where his mother and siblings just pop out to greet them.
Jungkook comes out first to hug his mother before Taehyung steps out of the car, enamored by the soft exchange of Jungkook and his mother when he is suddenly tackled into a hug from Jungkook’s younger siblings.
They laugh when they pull out to look at Taehyung. “Hyungie, you look funny!”
Well, he just came from a nap after all. His hair is sticking out in weird places. Sleep marks on his face and slightly blank eyes, puffed.
“No, I’m not.” He croaked and immediately put the back of his hand to his mouth just in case he had dried saliva around it. Now that would be weird.
Jungkook suddenly stands in front of his boyfriend, swatting his hand playfully, and cups his face to look at him, cooing, “Would you look at that? A huge baby.”
Taehyung frowns slightly while the younger siblings tease them for a kiss.
Jungkook’s mother walks behind the younger ones, shushing them and smiles, “Come inside. We made lots of food you might like, Taehyungah”
Taehyung gives her a side glance and he can see Jungkook’s mother, pulling the younger ones back to the house, leaving them on purpose.
They are supposed to get their stuff from the trunk but instead, they stay in that position for a little longer. Jungkook stares into him longer than usual.
“You’re not going to kiss me, are you?” His siblings’ teases are on the back of his mind. Jungkook’s thumb caresses his cheek in circles, smiling, “I’m thinking about it.”
“Well, stop it because we need to go inside. They’re waiting for us.” However, Taehyung made no attempt at leaving his spot to gaze at his lover. Tilting his head up to meet Jungkook.
“I can’t stop.” He whispers as he slowly moves down to meet Taehyung’s lips against his.
Taehyung opens his mouth as he wraps his fingers on Jungkook’s coat, tugging it softly, tongues play in between their mouths.
It takes a lot of will to stop what they are doing. Once entering the house with swollen lips, the siblings teased them again and now that Taehyung is full of energy now, he tackled the two siblings down on the floor, tickling them. Laughter resounding around the house.
Jungkook looks at his mother and she gives him a knowing smile.
“You’ve got a lot of explaining to do, Jungkookah.” She tells him. “So, what are your plans for today? Are you and Taehyung going to explore places here in Busan?”
“If Taehyung wants to, yes.”
“Good.”
One of the things Taehyung wants is to go to a place where no one knows them from university and do the things they want in public. Maybe that’s why Jungkook took them to the beach after confirming to Taehyung that he did want to go out. It’s pretty chilly for a quick swim due to the cold weather which is also why only a few people come here at this time. Despite that, Taehyung is already happy under layers of clothing Jungkook tells him to wear, looking like a Korean sushi roll on the move.
Now, they are walking around the beach, holding hands. The leftovers are in their car in case one of them gets hungry. It feels as if time slows down when they’ve been walking around for hours, neither of them know. Not even when the sun begins to set in front of them.
“It’s been long” Jungkook sighs. The words that came out from his mouth mean a lot of things and Taehyung doesn’t know which one of them he meant. Long that they had each other like this without a care of what other people say? That they are not in a forbidden relationship as a professor and student? Or maybe he meant going back to his hometown?
Taehyung only stares blankly at his boyfriend, expecting him to elaborate when he is gazing at the sunset, admiring his side profile.
Not long after, Jungkook feels his gaze and turns his head slightly to look at him. “What?” He asks softly.
Taehyung, being a shy mess he always is when his boyfriend makes his turn to gaze. He tiptoed and quickly planted a noisy smooch on his dimpled cheek out of the blue before he brisk walks away from him in a straight line.
“Now, that’s not fair.” Jungkook murmurs, ears and neck are starting to turn red. He jogs after Taehyung and they both end up in a chase before they have each other in their arms.
---
“Want to get in bath together?” Jungkook is lying on his back on their shared bed when Taehyung asks. He leans on his elbows to look at Taehyung who is just getting ready to get in the bathroom with his toiletries.
“Yeah” he grunts before pulling himself up and immediately follows Taehyung right after he grabs his own toiletries.
They really don’t have a problem when it comes to sharing a bath back in their apartment. It’s pretty convenient for a quick shower sex with the extra space but right now, in their bathroom, Jungkook and Taehyung may or may not have a problem. Clearly, the bathtub is for one person, not two. Taehyung didn’t see that through. The tub is already small and the two of them are really struggling to fit. And yes, they did make it happen with Taehyung leaning on Jungkook's chest and relaxing in the lukewarm water, trying to make himself small by curling his legs to his chest. Their feet are already hanging at the mouth of the tub.
Jungkook shamelessly roams his hands on the expanse of Taehyung’s skin with soap, starting from his shoulder blades down to his elbows. The younger hums in content, closing his eyes.
Not long after, Jungkook’s fingers are circling on one of Taehyung’s nipples experimentally, seeing how the younger reacts and yes, he moans lightly, a little above a whisper.
Other hand is going down under the water and touches Taehyung’s cock subtly.
With that, Taehyung feels alarmed, he calls out, turning his face back to face Jungkook, “Hyung!”
His face starts to turn red, reasons with him ‘not to do that’ in hushed whispers while moves up to hit him but Jungkook catches his hand real quick, pulling him back to his chest and planting soft kisses along the side of his neck that makes Taehyung goes weak and allows him pliantly. He traps both Taehyung’s arm with one hold of his arm around him. The younger helplessly tries to wriggle out of his hold.
“Hyung we can’t. I’ll be too loud.” Taehyung’s voice cracked from trying not to moan out loud when Jungkook’s family is literally in the other room and then Jungkook shushes him with no intention to stop what he is doing, “I’ll be slow for you, Tae. Try not to make a sound.”
Slowly, he nods against Jungkook’s shoulder as he starts to slide down to his cock. Jungkook leans on the bathtub to have Taehyung lean on his chest securely.
Jungkook is a man of his word as he slips his fingers around his boyfriend’s cock slowly and steady. Taehyung tries not to moan, biting his lips or pulling his lips together but that couldn’t stop the sounds he left from his pretty mouth. To make things worse, Jungkook slips small dirty talk on his ear while being excruciatingly slow. There’s this amusement in Jungkook’s eyes when he sees Taehyung goes a little wrecked with his hands alone. He does not dare to go hard though, they are not in their apartment after all and Taehyung might really scold him when he comes back to his senses. This time, he goes at Taehyung's pace.
“H-hyung—” Taehyung whines when Jungkook puts a little press on his slit. That’s when Jungkook knows he’s almost at his high. He continues stroking him, still slow but then Taehyung puts both his hands above Jungkook’s own and urges him to move faster with him. They move synchronically and Taehyung is not on his mind anymore, moaning a little loud, eyes hazy, mouth agape with saliva dripping down the side of his mouth. It feels good. Once Taehyung shoots out, he shivers. He knows he cums way too much into the water that it becomes dirty so with weak hands, he drains the tub, heaving loudly from an orgasm he had.
“Feel good?” Jungkook asks. Of course he feels good. In fact, it’s better than he thought. He’s about to reply when something is poking behind him. Pulling himself up before twisting his upper body backwards, he sees Jungkook’s own cock, hard and untouched.
Now, he thinks he needs to return the favor. Taehyung, already on all fours, facing Jungkook’s angry cock. “What are you— fuck” He curses when his boyfriend slides his mouth on his length without asking.
“T-Taehyung” Jungkook moans, pulling his head back. His fingers find its way to Taehyung’s locks and pull him down to him. “God, that pretty mouth of yours.” His thighs hang on each side of Taehyung’s broad shoulders, adjusting to the small tub and for him to go deeper.
Taehyung flutters his eyes open, staring back at Jungkook through his long lashes. Jungkook could feel the heat from his body. He’s not even shameful when the lust is clear on his face, God, he is even more aroused.
It doesn’t take long as he moans louder. Taehyung knits his brow, his boyfriend should know better to stay quiet in his parents’ home. He pulls out, Jungkook’s whines. Taehyung almost chuckles at his boyfriend’s cute reaction as he moves up and sits on his heels to kiss Jungkook.
Jungkook takes more of Taehyung’s mouth, could even taste himself but he doesn’t care. His hands automatically land on each side of Taehyung’s hips, squeezing its skin.
Taehyung giggles, “shut your mouth” he reminds again and now, he resumes by stroking his boyfriend’s length with his fingers. They are so close now, foreheads touching and he can hear Jungkook’s soft pants. His other hand is cupping Jungkook’s jaw, moving downwards to his nipple and finally, on his sculpted abs. Oh, how he always wanted to touch them, not because he doesn’t have one. It’s because he has a bit of a muscle kink that Jungkook knew even without telling. And maybe that is one of the reasons why he hits the gym on his free time.
On the other hand, Jungkook loves Taehyung’s soft tummy. He would use it as his pillow and let Taehyung stroke his hair. And maybe that is one of the reasons why Taehyung wants to fatten up.
“T-taehyung, baby— I’m close.” Jungkook mumbles incoherently, catching Taehyung’s lips. Taehyung jerks his hand faster, resulting in Jungkook to moan on his mouth.
Cum spills out, leaking on Taehyung’s hand but he still strokes his length, now slower. The sensitivity is driving Jungkook crazy, his mouth left hanging ajar, drooling, and almost twitching his thighs close.
Taehyung, finally, pulls out his hand and licks it free of cum. Jungkook watches him with half lidded eyes. There is something in the way Taehyung licks each of his fingers, tongue swirling around each digit that couldn’t escape on Jungkook’s eyes, making his cock twitch.
Once he’s done, Jungkook pulls him on the back of his head, kissing him harder now. Taehyung leans closer until there is no space between them as they start to explore their bodies with their hands, touching every nook and cranny. They could even do more until Jungkook’s mother knocks on their bedroom to tell them it’s time for dinner.
“Well, you heard your mom. Stop.” Taehyung says to his clingy boyfriend when he tries to clean himself up one last time, stopping him from kissing his neck.
“Baby, I’m hard again. Shouldn’t we do something about it first?”
“Nope” Taehyung teases, “you’re on your own now, daddy ” He is finally out of Jungkook’s hold and starts to make his way out of the bathroom after grabbing his towel, laughing at poor Jungkook’s erection. “Hurry up. Your family is waiting.” He hums before going out.
“They’re going to be your family, too, baby” Jungkook whispers, only he can hear it.
-
“I can’t believe we’re graduating in two days.” Jimin exclaimed, trying on his own toga with Taehyung at his apartment. Yes, even Taehyung couldn’t hide his excitement— couldn’t count how many times he wished for the days to pass by faster so he could finally graduate. The company he was interested in before is finally reaching out to him. He can finally work after graduation. Jimin, on the other hand, is also applying as a dance instructor for kids and it’s getting on pretty well.
Soon, they’re going to step out into the real world. They’ll be like real adults, that’s for sure and it actually means a lot to them.
Taehyung runs his fingers on the silky black toga and smiles to himself. Million thoughts has been playing in his mind, almost slipping to his own zone.
“Hey, Tae” Jimin starts. Once he got his best friend's attention by humming his reply, he took a deep breath and all of a sudden, the room became strangely quiet and serious. “What do you think about marriage?”
Taehyung’s eyes grow large, snapping his head towards Jimin. His cheeks paint with pink, the word ‘marriage’ makes his heart skips for an unknown excitement, “I haven’t thought about it”
Now that Jimin opened it up, Taehyung suddenly thought about it. Well, obviously, he wants to marry Jungkook. He’ll pick him as what they always say in vows 'till death do us part’. That’s what Jungkook means to him as he is to Jungkook. It does sound nice finally knotting ties when they literally live together, slept more than once and figuring out how to deal with their quarrels. They are young and they have their whole lifetime to figure things out.
It does sound nice that, maybe, he’ll end up with Jungkook for eternity and all that.
“Why did I even ask? I already knew you wouldn’t think about it” Jimin mumbles, eyebrows knitting together as if in disappointment.
Taehyung thinks that there is something going on. He can feel it in his guts that Jimin seems to be hiding something from him. The disappointment on Jimin’s face gives away. What is it about marriage? He thought, why did Jimin suddenly talk about it? Then, he realizes something, excitement already building up and his smile suddenly grows bigger, “Jiminie, are you, perhaps, going to get married?”
“What?! no! It’s not about me.” He exclaims.
Jimin almost facepalms himself, slightly disappointed that Taehyung didn’t think about his boyfriend is going to propose to him, and slightly feel relieved that Taehyung didn’t notice his slip up at almost letting out the secret .
A week ago, Jungkook asked to meet up with them. The only person Jimin observed that didn’t come was Taehyung. Slightly curious, he whispered to his boyfriends what was going on. As expected, they didn’t know, even Namjoon and Jin, too.
What’s going on?
“I know I called you guys and it’s sudden but I just want to say something.” Jungkook looked like he wanted to burst out anytime and glow. He was smiling so bright that night and his eyes sparkled, fingers rubbing on his lap that couldn’t contain what he really felt. Really, that was the time Jimin knew that Jungkook would confess something good.
And it really was.
“I’m going to propose to Taehyung.” Everyone went silent as if no one breathed at that moment. If there was a hidden camera, they all looked stupid. All, except Jungkook, had the same expression and glanced at one another then back to Jungkook with eyes and mouth open. In unison, they howled in excitement. The atmosphere went from silent to a jolly sound of 5 wild screaming men. They huddled around Jungkook, slapping his arms and shaking him on his seat, asking him random questions all at once. It was really great news to hear and all of them were eager to help Jungkook. After all, he was the first one to actually propose to someone in their group.
“Jimin? Hey, are you okay?” Jimin snapped out and suddenly, he saw Taehyung in front of him, shaking him out of his thoughts.
Mumbling his reply, Taehyung continues with his guesses, “then, is it Jin hyung? Are they going to get married?”
“Maybe?” Jimin snaps, “never mind that. I just want to know your thoughts about it.”
“Well, it would be nice to think about it but we haven’t, you know, talk.”
“Oh.”
“And besides, Jungkook hyung is busy these days.”
Well, it’s true. Jungkook has been pretty busy after their short trip to Busan. Sometimes, Jungkook looks restless by waltzing around their apartment, mumbling something to himself. Other times he would stare at Taehyung while they eat dinner, opening and closing his mouth as if he has something to say. Taehyung pretended not to notice but he actually noticed every little gesture Jungkook did. It was strange but cute at the same time.
Jimin clears his throat, eyes wandering around the room as he rubs the back of his neck, “Yeah right. He’s pretty busy.”
There’s something about Jimin’s tone that Taehyung seems to notice but he lets go of that thought when Jimin talks about other things instead.
---
On the night before the big day, Taehyung couldn’t sleep. He feels lonely anyways when he glances to the other side of the bed and finds it empty, no sign of someone laying on it as it remains less creased compared to his side. It’s already 2am and Jungkook hasn’t come back. That kept him awake, he slowly sits up from tossing around and rubs his face with one palm. He is exhausted and tired but there are things troubling in his mind. First, graduation. Second, Jungkook— his Jungkook.
What kept him this late at night?
Why is he still not home?
Questions keep popping up on his mind and then he decides to snap out of it and clear his mind. He goes to the balcony, cool air blows on his skin. From where he is at, he can clearly see the lights from the city painted as if reflecting the stars above the sky, only much brighter and more colorful than ever.
He leans on the balcony, standing on naked feet, never minding the cold creeping up on his heels. He just wants to be calm— free from malicious thoughts.
Time seems to go slower and he dives into his own personal space when soft arms circling on his hips and he is welcomed by the heat as the other closes his distance— hugging him close from behind.
Taehyung knows who he is based on that perfume he smells from the other and they stay like that for God knows how long until Taehyung speaks up in a hushed tone, “Jungkook hyung?”
Jungkook replies with a soft hum, he plants a kiss on Taehyung’s exposed shoulder blade before leaning his chin, nosing the side of his jaw.
“Are you happy being with me?”
“You know I do, baby”
They sway from side to side slowly as if they are in some kind of dance on their own, no music, just the silent breeze around them.
Jungkook asks him the same question, his voice is slightly husky that goes straight down to Taehyung’s knees, suddenly feeling weak and hot.
“Yes. Yes, I am happy.” He drops his voice to a soft whisper.
After a while, they went silent, it starts to get cold for being outside for how long and Taehyung slightly shivers for the lack of clothing he has— only a silky robe and thin pajamas but he still eyes on the horizon before Jungkook speaks up again, “let’s stay like this forever”
Taehyung chuckles softly, “what do you mean stay? I might freeze to death if we stay like this, hyung.” Instead of laughing at Taehyung’s joke, Jungkook only pulls him closer, not too tight. He leans his forehead on Taehyung’s shoulder blade, he says again only in a whisper that Taehyung can hear, “let’s stay, please. Stay with me.”
Taehyung turns his whole body to face Jungkook, hands cupping his jaw and looking straight into his eyes. From one look, Taehyung now knows what he means.
“Stay with me forever.”
“I’ll stay for as long as it takes just to be with you, hyung”
With that, Jungkook smiles. He leans down to kiss him and just like the first time many years ago, it still makes Taehyung’s toes curl.
---
Taehyung is extremely nervous— well, all of them are. The gym is packed with people and the whole university hymn is playing through the speakers. The fact that he has to make a speech in front of all of them makes him anxious. He can’t stop moving, tapping his heel, rubbing his fingers, and repeating his speech in his mind. His parents are here, even Jungkook’s family is here to support him and it just makes him more anxious than he was.
Everything goes well as practiced. Taehyung’s mind goes blank until many minutes later, it’s his time to deliver his valedictory address.
Standing in front of the podium, all eyes are on him— his family, his classmates, his friends, Jimin, his professors, and even his boyfriend are waiting for him to speak up. At this moment, once he opens his mouth, he now forgets that he was nervous a minute ago.
He starts with a greeting, voice unsteady at first when he tries to make eye contact through the crowd. He then settles looking straight ahead, a copy of his speech written in a small scratch paper is already forgotten on his fist as he continues to talk as if he knows the words like the back of his hand. Well, only with a little dead air to collect his mind to what to say next.
“— I would like to thank my friends, especially to my best friend, Park Jimin who is stuck with me from the beginning—” Taehyung looks over to Jimin who is almost close to tears. Oh, he wants to hug him right there and then.
Taehyung glances at his professors in a seat. “To our professors who taught us for these years—”
“— to the people I love the most.” He then lays his gaze specifically to Professor Jeon who returns his loving gaze with a pursed-lip to stop himself from smiling widely.
Taehyung proceeds to share his little story, to the experiences that inspired him to go on, to his dreams, and of course, it didn’t seem to be a long speech as he continues talking as if the words came out alive from his lips.
Everyone listens to him. Everyone takes in what he says, even reacting to his small jokes along the side. Taehyung feels the burden almost hang off his chest except for one thing though.
“I would like to confess,” he starts. “All these years, I was a good role model. Always on top of my classes. Professors praise me for every little achievement I do but let me tell you something, I am not who you think I am.”
Taehyung could clearly feel their confusion from where he was standing. He literally holds his breath. This is it, he tells himself. It’s time to come out.
“I am actually gay and I have a boyfriend who I have been crushing since the first year. This guy is an upperclassman and also a graduate from this university.”
Well, shocking as it is, they let out huge gasps when they knew and there goes an unspeakable question in their minds, who is Taehyung’s boyfriend ?
However, Taehyung leaves them to their imagination. He wouldn’t dare to expose and endanger his boyfriend’s career because of his carelessness but he is using this chance to say what’s on his mind.
“It sounds cliche but he is always there for me. He supports me in the best way he can, spoils me with the best gifts, and takes good care of me. A thank you is not enough for him as he is the one who makes my world beautiful and I hope I am that kind of person to him. We may fight a lot and no matter how big our fight was, he will always be the more mature one and deal with it logically. He helps me realize that what I did was wrong and other times, I do it to him, too. Being in a relationship makes you see all different sides of things and it is not about being happy all the time. There are also sadness, anger, and all other things. You just have to learn how to deal with it together.”
The hall is way too silent as they take in Taehyung’s words. Anyone can relate to him and it really changes their perspective.
He really expects the loud roaring that comes after that. A few people from the crowd stand up. The shock reveals on their faces and he never regrets. Never. He is proud and he feels free. Jungkook, well, he feels smaller, covering his face with his one hand and dips lower. His ears are already red. Min Yoongi and Jung Hoseok are nudging him not so subtly. They really love riling up the young professor.
Once the commotion died down a little, only with a few murmurs, he continued. “And yes, we do crazy stuff as normal couples do. I am not perfect and the reason why I kept this quiet for so long is because I love him so much.”
Protecting him and his reputation in this university
He takes a swift glance at Jungkook and whispers through the mic “I love you”
Jungkook takes hold of that confession and bravely stands before Taehyung could even say his last part of his speech. It caught the attention of the majority when Professor Jeon is on the front, their gazes flicker from him and Taehyung who looks back at him. He stood there for a few minutes, listening until Taehyung closed his speech congratulating all the graduates in the university.
Everyone clapped their hands. Jungkook walks up steadily to Taehyung. Most of them are confused, Taehyung included as it is not part of their exercise, but once Jungkook stands in front of him, in front of the people in the university. He finds himself drawn into his gaze and before he even knows what is going on. Jungkook swiftly pulls him in and kisses him. Taehyung immediately recovers and kisses him with much passion as the crowd roars and claps.
First, Taehyung came out as gay. Second, his boyfriend is none other than the famous professor Jeon Jungkook. Third, well, many girls cried that day. And maybe, they’ll probably meet consequences later with the higher-ups but right now, kissing Jungkook is more important.
Jungkook pulls away. The kiss is short but assuring. Well, they’ll gonna save that for later. “To answer all of your questions, yes, I am dating Kim Taehyung and now, let’s continue with the program.”
Embarrassment creeps up on their skin now as they howl and scream for them. The boring and steady graduation becomes a bubbly mess after their little scandal.
Well, it would’ve been nice if that actually happens. Taehyung snaps out of his short imagination when his adviser -slash- boyfriend taps his shoulder. When he comes back to reality, professor Jeon gives him a hug. No kiss actually happened. How foolish can it be to kiss in front of the whole school?
“If it wasn’t because of the public, I would’ve kissed you right here, right now.” Jungkook whispers into his ear as if he could hear Taehyung’s thoughts.
“Maybe later,” he says after pulling away from the hug. The thought of kissing him has been forgotten as the ceremony continues without delay. As they go near towards the end of it, students beside Taehyung almost have their eyes teared up. He can feel the excitement in the air, the speech of their beloved principal has left muted, only hearing the sound of their own heart beating and the not so quiet murmurs of the graduates but as soon as they hear the words that they finally graduated, all are quick to their feet, jumping and throwing their caps upward along with the confetti and flowers. Their graduation song is blasting on the speakers at full volume and hearing the song now makes them all emotional, hugging and crying to their friends and taking pictures with their parents.
Speaking of friends, Park Jimin runs to him from where he stood while avoiding other students from colliding and breaking their moment. Taehyung immediately opens his arms as if he knows that Jimin would crash on him-- that he actually did, jumping on him and the two boys tackle to the floor, giggling. “We did it” he chants repeatedly, gripping on to him. Wet tears are falling, staining Taehyung’s toga with the eyeliner he puts on earlier.
“Yes, we finally did it, Jimin.” Taehyung replies back, patting him. Their boyfriends, well, are on the side, watching how two best friends make the most of their time.
---
A celebration comes right after, of course. Jungkook and Taehyung’s family face one another in one long rectangular table in their favorite restaurant, celebrating Taehyung’s graduation. They went on chattering about random things, after all, it’s been a while since they met again.
The restaurant is suspiciously deserted. There are no other customers around except them. Around this time, Taehyung remembers, it should be filled with customers especially when this is one of the most sought restaurants after graduation since it’s just a few blocks away from the university and the food is to die for.
It actually makes him think a lot that he couldn’t notice Jungkook calling out to him a few times now.
“Hey, are you okay?” He reaches out to touch Taehyung’s dainty fingers. The younger seems to be out of his daze when his fingers slightly twitch before he returns the gesture to Jungkook.
“I’m fine. It’s just me thinking of stupid things when I shouldn’t.” Jungkook doesn’t ask for more, simply adores Taehyung’s knitted expression.
They intertwine their fingers across the table for everyone to see and Jungkook slides his thumb on his to assure him that everything’s fine. Not even minding their mothers holding out stifled giggles.
“Good because tonight, it’s all about you and me.”
Taehyung couldn’t catch what he says and he is about to ask when suddenly the doors to the restaurant burst open to a loud bunch of giggling people. He recognizes those voices and when he looks up, he sees his friends, walking towards them with knowing smiles on their faces.
Jimin catches his gaze and acts shocked in an overly dramatic expression. “Oh my, Taehyungie~ you’re here!”
Taehyung winces. He knows his best friend is not really good at acting but, oh well, he decides to go along with him. “Yeah, nice seeing you here with everyone.”
Yoongi and Hoseok drag Jimin away when he’s about to reply to another lie and they sit at the nearest table to them. Jin only smiles at Taehyung and says, “Congratulations. I’m so happy for you.”
Unlike Jimin, Jin seems to be genuine, maybe because he majored in theater arts back in the days and Namjoon is at his side, congratulating the same but he also side glances to Jungkook and smiles sheepishly before they join together with the rest on that table, murmuring to themselves even giggling—
What the hell is going on?
Halfway to dinner, a few more people come inside the restaurant. Not just any people, tho.
“Oh, Kim Taehyung! Congratulations on your graduation” It’s the old security guard who once knew their secret and accepted them wholeheartedly.
Familiar faces. Taehyung sees familiar faces. He sees their landlady walking in, deciding to eat at this restaurant. Some of their friends from university and a few professors— specifically those closest to Jungkook and maybe it’s a good thing Jungkook couldn’t see them as he is facing back at them. They fill the entire restaurant and not a single stranger is mixed. He knows everyone. Small world, he guesses but the exciting feeling of not knowing something is starting to burst out of Taehyung. He feels giddy. He feels something big might happen tonight and then Taehyung snaps out of his daze, just realizing his boyfriend is not in his seat. He turns his head to Jimin, mouthing worriedly if he has seen Jungkook but only returns with a shrug.
Taehyung stands from his seat, not knowing that he’s grabbing attention to him as they turn their heads to him. And then, there’s a black out.
The sudden darkness startles more than half of them in the place, murmurs are louder with gasps and noises. Taehyung leans on the table, unable to move due to the situation.
“I’m sorry. The lights will be back on shortly” the owner of the restaurant calms the rest of them. Honestly, it doesn’t affect Taehyung as panic starts to manifest on his own. Jungkook is nowhere to be seen and he couldn’t just shout his name out in the open when people know them.
Then a few seconds after, finally, the lights turn back on. Taehyung adjusts to the light and decides to look around when he sees a small black box in front of him. It was not there before, who might be the culprit?
Nobody seems to notice tho. At least not when Taehyung has his eyes focus on the small things. Skeptical, he slowly takes it and examines the object. He slowly opened it and he could almost gasp. Inside, he finds a silver ring, intricate and simple but he definitely knows that this is custom made and maybe expensive.
Tears almost welled up in his eyes but no, he isn’t sure who owns it but deep inside, he wishes this ring is his as it is placed in front of him. Also, he is confused and maybe it's a prank. There may be a hidden camera somewhere and he turns his vision to the crowd and they're the first thing he notices, well, the first person he sees is standing at the center of all the sitting people on the table with a large bouquet of red roses, on one hand, wearing a huge smile as if he got the reaction he needed to see on Taehyung and maybe someone takes a video on them, cue Jimin who is now trying not to laugh just to make a decent video.
Taehyung doesn’t know that he isn’t moving from his spot at all, just looking back at his boyfriend, betrayed and surprised. Not long, Jungkook moves towards him in long strides, that awfully huge smile never left his face.
“Kim Taehyung,” he starts, “will you marry me?”
That for sure made Taehyung buckles his knees and cry. From there, Taehyung lunges on Jungkook, “yes” he screams and then their friends erupted, filling the restaurant with cheers for another celebration because Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook are going to get married.
---
“We’ve been together for years and you’re shy now?” Jungkook raises his brow when he lays down with his lover in their bed after a few rounds of sex. Taehyung still wears his shy smile the moment he remembers what happened earlier at the restaurant.
“N-no, I mean. It’s a lot to take in. First, I made a wonderful speech and I really wished I could kiss you on that stage but I remember that we are supposed to be hiding our relationship.” Jungkook chuckles and Taehyung continues, “Then we go to the restaurant, all of our friends and family are in. You proposed and I said yes and— wow, is this a dream?”
“No, Taehyung. It’s real. We’re not hiding anymore.” He says while he cups his boyfriend’s face— or should he say fiancé. The word makes him blush to his ears.
Taehyung lets his tears fall. He is happy. He couldn’t believe it.
“I love you.” Taehyung says, his voice wavering.
“I love you, too.”
---
5 years later.
Taehyung did work at a company he wanted. He is quite famous with the art pieces that important people are starting to patronize him.
He had showcases and during these five years, he opened a studio to host art workshops, especially for kids to learn about art.
Taehyung and Jungkook did marry. Though they had to go outside of Korea just to get the papers done. Life as a married man is still the same as before, with a status.
Along the way, their only dog, Taekook, dies of old age and as they bury him one night in their backyard, Taehyung cries so much, seeking the comfort of his loving husband who also shares the same sadness.
“He was a great dog. He was like a son we could never have.” Taehyung whispers. Jungkook could only agree as he rubs Taehyung’s shoulder.
It pains Jungkook to see Taehyung is more affected than him. He just wants to take his pain away so he peppers him with kisses and whispers sweet words to lighten him up. It is that day when Jungkook is determined to do something to fill up the empty void of Taehyung’s heart and also his.
---
“Where are you taking me?” Taehyung moves his hand to the handkerchief that ties around his eyes but before he could even pull it down to take a peek, Jungkook holds his hand down with his other hand on the steering wheel of their car. “Impatient are we, love? You’ll see and you’re gonna love it.”
Jungkook creeps up a smile at Taehyung’s pout. It only takes a few turns here and there with the help of the GPS. He feels excited. It only takes a few days after Taekook’s death for him to make the final decision and he knows that Taehyung will support him. Afterall, everything Jungkook does is for both of them to be happy. That is his goal after marrying the love of his life. Yes, there may be ups and downs but it’s normal. The most important thing is that they love each other and they will do everything to work things out.
Jungkook pulls over in the parking lot. He pecks the side of Taehyung’s neck, making him giggle. “No peeking, baby” He breathes before he gets out of the car first so he can guide Taehyung. The poor man doesn’t know the surprise that is about to change both of their lives.
“Careful. You might trip.” Jungkook pulls him out of the car.
“It’s okay. You’re always here to catch me.”
Once he positions Taehyung right in front of the building. He works his fingers to untie the blindfold right behind him.
“Do you trust me, Taehyung?”
Taehyung smiles. “I trust you, Jungkook”
Jungkook chews on his lip. Many years into the relationship, the younger finally drops the honorifics and it warms his heart.
Once the blindfold is gone, Taehyung slowly opens his eyes, blinking slowly as he adjusts to the light. In front of him is more of a huge house than a building with a huge sign ‘Orphanage’
There he finally realizes that they’re going to adopt a child. They’re going to be parents. With that knowledge, he squeals and turns around to hug Jungkook. Both of them are laughing with tears on their eyes.
“We’re gonna be parents.”
“Yes, we are.”
“We’re gonna be the coolest parents in the world.”
“That we are.”
Taehyung pauses to look at him. “I love you”
“I love you too”
Taehyung sits on the playground, talking to kids while Jungkook is on the side, watching him with the head of the orphanage talking to him about contracts and such. Sounds of children giggling are filled in the air. The kind of noise he likes to hear.
“I can see that he loves children very much.” She says, seeing where Jungkook is looking at.
“I am always grateful for couples like you”, she continues, “you see, my job is more than taking care of these children. It’s more like reminding them that there are people who will love them more than their real parents.”
“Couples come to this place from time to time, not just to adopt a child but to fill up a missing piece of their lives.”
“I just hope I can do this right without messing up.” Jungkook notices his fingers are fidgeting. He might not know the feeling of having a child. Might not know the feeling of being a real father. Will he be doing this right?
She laughs. “I know you’ll be a great father. You both are.”
Jungkook looks at her and smiles. She’s right. They can do this. They can give a child a bright future.
Later on, Taehyung comes up right to them with a boy in his arms, about 3 years old.
“I’ve decided.”
Jungkook walks right in front of them and pats the boy’s hair only to have him hiding his face on Taehyung’s chest. He is adorable and the way Taehyung coos at him makes Jungkook smile. “What’s his name?”
"Soobin”
They spent the rest of the day shopping for Soobin's necessities— clothes, food, toys and with both of their salaries, it’s not even a big deal. It hasn’t been a day but they are already spoiling him with everything he likes.
The rest of the day, they talk a lot. They learned that he was left in front of the orphanage when he was a baby— enough for him not to care where his real parents are. He is smart, too. He keeps on pointing out and guessing animal names on the park while the three of them are eating ice cream.
At night, they tuck him in his own bed after reading one bedtime story. Jungkook and Taehyung take turns kissing his forehead and something beautiful slips out of their child’s mouth right before they close the door.
“Good night daddy. Good night papa.” It’s small but both of them definitely hear it. They exchange knowing glances before Taehyung grabs Jungkook’s wrist and pulls him in their bedroom, locking it.
“He calls us daddy and papa.” Taehyung whispers, cupping Jungkook’s cheek to face him so they both share the same happiness.
Jungkook’s eyes spark and his smile is wider than Taehyung thought. “I know. I know.”
Taehyung kisses him hard on the lips. Jungkook automatically places his hands on his waist, slipping his fingers under his shirt, returning the kiss with eagerness.
“Guess I’m not the only one who’s gonna call you daddy now.”
Jungkook chuckles. He hasn’t heard that endearment for a long time now and it is still turning him on every time Taehyung teases him about it. “You just ruined an innocent moment, Tae.”
Instead of nagging for more, he just carries Taehyung to bed and maybe a bit harsh, throwing him on the bed. The younger is smirking from below him and unbuckling Jungkook’s belt.
Jungkook only looks at him with amusement, elbows on either side of Taehyung’s head, “Eager are we, baby?”
“We are not getting any younger, Jungkook. I’d say fuck me hard til I can’t walk for days.”
“Make love, Taehyung. Let’s go slow.”
“Fine. Fuck me hard and slow. Now, hurry up.”
Clothes are thrown on their beds, they become a tangling mess on their bed, trying not to stir too loud as their son is sleeping in the other room. Whispering words of love on each other’s ear, gasping each other’s names, and yes, Jungkook went slow with each thrust that makes Taehyung squirms underneath him just the same reaction as he was years ago when they were both young and wild.
Only the shuffling of the sheets and their breathy moans can only be heard in the air. Jungkook dips down, testing Taehyung’s flexibility as he shoves his tongue inside his husband’s mouth and maybe he also spreads his legs apart, sending Taehyung a whole level of pleasure. He arches his back to meet Jungkook’s thrusts, hickeys on full bloom on his chest reciprocating Jungkook’s only with scratches and red marks from Taehyung’s nails.
An all too familiar feeling in their guts get them to speed up their movements until they come. Jungkook pulls out a minute after peppering kisses on Taehyung’s eyes, watching the white sticky fluid come out of his ass. Hissing, Taehyung groans, feeling uncomfortable with all the cum inside and outside of his body. He needs a shower, he thinks. As if hearing his thoughts, Jungkook hooks his arms under him and carries him to the bathroom.
“You know me too well, love” Taehyung pouts. God, he loves this man so much
“Let’s go cuddle after”
“Sure and I’ll let you play with my hair later.”
Jungkook gives him a huge smile. Taehyung feels he’s in heaven.
---
“I still can’t believe you guys adopted a child. Now I’m jealous.” Seokjin blurts out after having a shot of his drink. He is now as red as a tomato, sitting next to his husband, Namjoon. “Joonie, isn’t it time for us to adopt a kid, too?”
“Sure. How about we’ll discuss this in the morning when you’re sobered up. Hmm?” Namjoon flicks Jin’s chin amusingly. Adored that Jin puckers his lips at the touch.
“Gross,” Jimin comments as he munches on the salad on his lap.
“Any plans for adoption, Jiminie?” Taehyung urges softly with his son nests on his lap, sleeping. He rubs his back slowly just to ease his son to sleep.
The man in question just looks over two grown men at his side, snoring, and he smiles, “Nah. I’ve got two huge babies on my side. Maybe soon.”
Just like that, they begin with their yearly reunion— their very own tradition to catch up with their lives. They would go hiking, out of the country trip for a week, or maybe they’ll just chill on one of their homes and have drinks, and they would go on in their 50s, 60s, and still, they would all be together.
Infamous rumors are now circulating among the university like how there are professors who used to date their students and now have a strong and steady relationship. Some would assume that it could be their classmates or advisers, most likely from a guess or a small token of affection or another set of rumors.
No student could really tell if these rumors are real or not, after all, they are not your normal professor-student relationship.
