Chapter Text
Mona staggered back , her green eyes widened, a shiver crawled down her face. There stood a male with cold blue dead eyes staring daggers at her, He had a crooked smirk on his face as he looked down at the body that was beneath him, he bent down and dipped his fingers into the pool of blood he then brought the red liquid to his mouth and licked, not breaking eye contact with Mona. Her face turned pale and she could feel the very little she had for lunch come up. “Now” He paused standing up and walking over to Mona, grabbing her by her wrist “What should I do with you?”
- Six hours Prior
“Visions activity has been active in the States of Liyue and Mondstadt, Remember if you see a user please contact your-” Mona grabbed the remote and turned off the news and sighed, throwing the remote on the other side of the couch.
Mona sat on her couch with nothing but an old band t-shirt she had. Across from her was a vision, a hydro one. She shivered looking at it. Visions were outlawed for being dangerous. Anyone seen using a vision would be sentenced to a life in jail, but most vision owners don’t go the legal way they all end up in a shootout with the cops ending with them getting murdered for everyone to see.
Mona sighed and stood up grabbing the vision off the coffee table and putting it in her bookbag, today’s the day she gets rid of it, She couldn’t deal with the guilt of having one around anymore it was too much for her to bear. It’s not like she ever used it she thought as she grabbed a pair of black shorts that was on the floor and some flip flops. She slung the bookbag over one shoulder and opened her apartment door, She took a step only to be greeted with her landlord.
“Oh Mona off somewhere?” He asked, scratching his stomach.
Mona nodded looking down “Y-yeah…”
“Oh it better be to the atm because you owe me over three months of rent!”
Mona gulped, she’s been avoiding this… She couldn’t be homeless and with a vision that’s why she has to get rid of it now “H-how much do I h-have to pay…”
“I need five hundred from you today if you want to keep living here or…” He had a smirk on his face”
Mona scrunched up her nose and glared at him “I’ll have the five hundred today!” She spat walking past him knocking into him on purpose, He scoffed, Mona rolled her eyes and clenched her fist, Her eyes widened as her hand started to form water and a light glow started to come from her book bag, She sped up her pace almost running to the stairwell.
“N-no” She mumbled she dropped the bag onto the floor and opened it the bright blue light from the vision engulfed the Stairwell, Mona eyes widened as she zipped the bag again, she huddled it on her chest and clenched it doing her best to hide the light coming from the bag. She ran down the staircase as fast as she could, her palms were wet and she couldn’t tell if it was the vision or sweat, As soon as she made it to the first floor she opened the door that led to the back alley, She took a deep breath now it was the hard part making past the cops. They were always trying to kill a vision user any chance they could get. Mona made her way to the mainstreet still huddling the bookbag.
She kept her eyes straight , she honestly didn’t know where she was going but anywhere was better than near her apartment. She couldn’t have this thing tied back to her at all, she didn’t want it. The sound of a busy city kept her mind occupied as she made random left and rights. The sound of kids fighting over ice cream or the sound of a salesman trying to sell his new sun screen, it was just another normal day in july, in the bustling city of Monstadt .
A normal day she continued to mutter that under her breath hoping to god she would believe, nothing been normal since she was handed the stupid vision by her teacher only for her to disappear on her, leaving her with no money and a target on her back. She felt herself getting angry and the vision bright glowing brighter, she shook the thoughts from her mind and read the signs around her
“THROW THEM IN JAIL”
“VISION USERS ARE NOT HUMAN”
“MAKE HAVING A VISION DEATH PENALTY”
“KILL THEM ALL”
She huffed and that didn’t help her feel better anyway, Then the sounds of sirens happened, not normal sirens. The sirens that were made especially for them, A vision user was on the run. The Streets were empty people piling into the streets. Mona felt herself getting pushed and shoved to the ground only to see a strike of lightning hit the street, the lightning turned into a human, a boy around her age and height, He looked into her direction and they made eye contact for what felt like forever, but it was mere seconds before she heard the murmurs of others staring at her. She stood up and wiped off the dirt from her knees and booked it away from the other Eletro Vision user.
She didn’t stop running until she was far away enough to where she didn’t even recognize the street names anymore. She took a sigh of breath and dipped into a back alley where she threw the bookbag on the floor, she heard glass shattered and the blue light fizzled out. She sighed in relief. She put her hands on her face as she paced the alleyway “It’s done, I don’t need to worry anymore…”
---
Mona had made her back to her part of town especially the “Shop” She ran. It wasn;t really a shop, it was more of a broken down moldy station parked in front of stores before they made her move again. Today I was in front of a bookstore and she was reading palms and tarot card reading.
She didn’t plan on working today but she needed the money, she only have a hundred to her name and if she didn’t want to be homeless, especially with the guy she had just saw running around.
“Oh can I get a reading please” Someone asked.
Mona perked up and sat up right in her chair. “Y-yeah which one!” She asked as she tied her hair up in a ponytail.
“Oh a tarot card reading” The woman replied sitting in the chair in front of the stall.
“Ah a classic” She chuckled as she shuffled the cards “anything you wish to ask the stars today?”
“I just need an answer to a question” She shifted in her seat.
Mona nodded and spread out her cards in front of the woman, “Choose a card” The woman huddled over the cards for a few seconds before picking up the world card, Mona smiled at the girl “The answer to your question is yes! This question will bring you fulfillment and joy into your life”
“Oh that’s great” The woman quickly stood up “Thank you so much for the reading, I’ll be going now!”
“H-hey that cost-” before Mona could get a word out the woman had booked it across the street. “She grumbled and clenched her fist “I need to pay my bills!” She mumbled to herself as she picked up her cards again.
She shrugged it’s been awhile since she did a reading on herself in a while. She shuffled the cards and spread them out for her to pick from, She hovered her hand and picked out five cards and she gasped her green eyes and read over the cards again and again, “T-this is the worst…”
, temperance Reversed, four of cups , nine of swords , five of pentacles and the tower. She was flabbergasted… was this reading supposed to be about her future… was she going to go through this much pain. She didn’t even have enough time before a few kids came over with cash in hand begging for a reading. She slides the cards in the deck and smiled,
Right now wasn’t the time to worry over her future, everything is going to be fine…
---
Mona sat on the curb counting her money “ten, fifteen, thirty, fifty….”She grumbled it wasn’t enough. Could she just avoid her landlord for another day or two, she could probably get the money by the end of the week. “She placed her head on her knees and sighed “God dammit, I just wish my reading were more accurate” She mumbled, that's when a shining blue light glowed next to her. She lifted her head up to see the vision that she had thrown away, fresh and brand new! She scooted away “N-no…” Mona gritted her teeth and grabbed the vision, she couldn’t leave it there and people saw her in that corner and would come back to her.
Mona stumbled across the sidewalk looking for a place to hide as a bright light admitted from the vision, Mona felt her body shaking, she wanted to collapse on the ground and die right here, it would be easier than to deal with this thing. That's when the sirens came back and cops started to flood the streets. She looked around and ducked into an alleyway hiding and pressed her back against the wall. The glow from the vision was getting brighter with the intense fear that she was feeling.
“I think I saw something in here,” She heard someone say as they walked closer to her. Her body became tense up but she felt someone grab her and pulled her deeper into the alley ducking behind a dumpster fire, They covered her mouth and threw a cloth on her vision. Mona didn’t move as they cops checked the alley way “Yeah nothing in here, come on lets go”
The hand released from her mouth and she felt a slap at the side of her head. “Ow!” She whispered, yelling, turning her head, Her eyes widened. It was the same guy that she saw in the day. He was glaring at her with a sneer.
“Are you stupid!? You could've gotten killed, why is your vision acting up so much!”
“I’m sorry, I thought I got rid of it, It just kind of showed up next to me and then the sirens happened”
“Wow are you that dumb, you can’t get rid of a vision, you have to live with it”
“B-but I don’t want it!”
He groaned and pushed her away from him “Your stupid, just idiotic” He rubbed his temple. Mona huffed and the cloth of her vision came off and the bright glow filled the alleyway anyone with a brain would know it was from a vision.
“Uh oh” She mumbled as she heard a footstep of a lone cop making its way to the corner. Before she could even make his way the dark haired male zipped into lightening and zipped over to the guy, Mona stumbled her way back up only to see something that she never thought would happen to her.
There lay a body of a cop blood splattered over the brick wall as his lifeless body fell to the ground. The electro user was covered in the cops blood and he looked satisfied as if he wanted to kill him.
“P-please d-don’t kill me” She looked up at him “W-were both vision user-”
“Your an idiotic one that almost got us caught” He grumbled “Plus it would be better to just kill you, you know then you could just not have to word about living this life” He said as his other hand stared to form sparks and got closer to her throat
“I can be useful, Please Please let me live!” She begged and pleaded shifting her body away from him, Tears started to fill her eyes.
“Useful... “ He mumbled, He let go of her wrist and she started to rub the bruising on it. “Take me back to your place and Then I’ll decide what to do with you”
“O-okay” Mona immediately agreed. He raised an eyebrow not expecting her to be so compliant already.
Mona sighed and picked up her vision, it had gone dark now but she didn’t know. “I turned it off…” He said “You don’t know how to do anything so I had to do the most simplest things for you”
“S-shut up!” She spat back at him “This is- “
“Blah blah blah” He interrupted her putting his hands in his pockets “You never used a vision before yada yada yada, We need to leave or more bodies are going to flood the street”
Mona shivered as she walked towards an exit of the alleyway, she looked both sides before walking away the strange man following her.
Great Mona you have no money for rent , your vision is stuck with you and you're basically being held hostage by this man and you don’t even know his name! Could this day get any worse.
