Chapter Text
Izuku was on his way back to class after his lunch with All Might when he heard the softest of cries coming from around the corner. Frowning, he followed the sound and carefully approached the trembling figure. Her head was tucked tightly between her knees, red hair forming a barrier between her and the outside world.
He crouched down, placing his scarred hand on her shoulder, causing her to flinch. “Hey, are you ok?” he asked in the softest voice he could manage.
Very slowly, she lifted her head, golden eyes burning straight into Izuku’s emerald ones. She glanced down at his hand, then back up at his face.
“Oh! I’m so sorry!" Izuku said, quickly retracting his hand. "I wasn’t thinking. It was rude of me to touch you without permission. Sorry.” A small smile spread across the red head’s face at his apology. She closed her eyes, shaking her head. “It’s ok, I don’t mind. You just startled me.” Izuku returned the smile and sat down cross-legged next to her. “My name is Midoriya Izuku. I’m a third year in the hero course. It’s nice to meet you."
“My name’s Akane Rin” she said shyly. “Thank you for checking on me. I haven’t met very many nice people here so far.” She placed her head back onto her knees, leaving her face uncovered to maintain eye contact. She was met with a small frown and friendly emerald eyes.
“If you don’t mind me asking, are you new here? I don’t think I’ve seen you around campus before.” Akane nodded, looking away sadly. “I just moved here. There was an…incident…at my other school and my parents thought it would be best to transfer me to another school.”
She paused, waiting to see if she would be interrupted. When Izuku simply smiled, she continued. “I thought I had finally made a friend I could trust but…when I told her why I transferred here she told the whole class. They won’t even come near me now” she finished, a single tear falling from still damp eyes.
Izuku furrowed his brows in concern. He knew all too well how cruel other kids could be, how lonely it can feel. “Does it have something to do with your quirk?” he asked. When she looked at him with fear in her golden eyes he quickly added, “you don’t have to tell me of course! Especially since you just had your trust broken. I don't mind listening though, if you want to talk about it.” He offered what he hoped was a reassuring smile.
There was something about his face…those beautiful green eyes and adorably freckled cheeks that made Akane want to put all her trust in the kind boy. “Y-you promise you won’t tell anyone? Or…judge me?”
“Yes! Yes of course! I would never do that to you, or anyone else for that matter. Wouldn’t be much of a hero if I did, would I?” he chuckled. With a soft hum, Akane nodded. She leaned her head on Izuku’s shoulder, hand lightly resting on his arm.
Before she could open her mouth to speak, a booming voice was heard behind them. “Oi! Shitty Deku!” Before he could turn around, Izuku was yanked off the ground by a spikey haired blonde with furious crimson eyes. He noticed an odd burning sensation settle in the pit of his stomach. He looked down at Akane, seeing panic flash in her eyes as she cupped her hands over her mouth.
Izuku was about to ask what was wrong, but the blonde cut him off yelling loudly in his ear. “What the fuck are you doing, shitty nerd?! You’re supposed to be in class, not getting cozy with some fucking extra!”
He glared into the crimson eyes of his childhood friend and current best friend: Bakugou Katsuki. “I wasn’t getting cozy, Kacchan! I was asking if she was ok and you rudely interrupted us.”
Izuku had long since gotten over his fear of his best friend, easily able to argue back and hold his own with the feisty blonde.
“Whatever, nerd. We’re going to be late if you don’t hurry the fuck up” he growled. Izuku was about to fire back his own comment when he felt a tentative tug at his coat sleeve. Looking down, he saw Akane trembling, tears beginning to fall down her pink cheeks.
“Mi-Midoriya…please. Please tell me you didn’t feel any burning in your stomach just now. Please tell me you didn’t” she begged. She knew her quirk had activated, but she was holding on to hope that the kind boy had managed to dodge it in time. She wouldn’t know what to do if the first truly kind person she'd met here had been affected by her quirk.
Izuku crouched back down, smiling sweetly at her. “Yeah, I did actually. Was that your quirk?" He pattered her hair when she hung her head, slowly nodding.
"I’m not mad, I promise” he said soothingly. “Can you maybe tell me what your quirk is though? Just so I know what to expect?” Katsuki glared down at the girl, making her shrink in on herself. He rolled his eyes and squatted next to Izuku and tried to keep his face neutral. “Look, accidents happen or whatever. Just tell us what your fucking quirk is so we can get to class.” Akane put her arms around herself protectively at the harsh words.
“Kacchan! You’re scaring her! Can’t you ask a little nicer?” he huffed. Turning his attention back to Akane, he tried again.
“It’s ok, you don’t have to be afraid. Kacchan is an asshole, but he would never hurt anyone.” He laughed when he felt Katsuki playfully smack his head, rolling his eyes. “See?" he giggled. "Can you please tell me what your quirk is so I can be prepared for it?”
Akane looked between the two boys, deciding her words carefully. She decided to start with a question. “Um, do you guys know each other?” Katsuki rolled his eyes again but said nothing, only nodding impatiently. “Ok, at least you’re not strangers. Do-do you guys get along ok?” she asked.
“Fucking peachy. Out with it already, we’re gonna be late.” Izuku glared at the blonde. Sighing, he answered her question. “Kacchan and I have known each other since we were four. He’s my best friend” he said fondly. Katsuki glanced at him but said nothing.
She giggled, gaining some confidence. “I want to tell you; I really do but…I think it would be better if you went to Recovery Girl. She can explain it far better than I can.” Akane stood up, turning to start walking towards the healer’s office, the boys exchanging confused looks.
When Akane noticed they weren't following her, she waved her hand. "Well come on!"

Izuku sat on the examination bed, staring blankly at the little pink stick in his hands, two blue lines glaring back. He had been shocked when Recovery Girl pulled the test from one of her drawers, a somber look on her usually friendly face.
He laughed awkwardly, thinking it was a joke. When he realized no one was laughing with him his face paled. He turned his gaze to Katsuki, hoping for some sort of explanation in his deep ruby eyes. When he found nothing but his usual scowl, he looked back at Recovery Girl.
“I-I don’t understand. Wha- how… “ he stammered. “Midoriya," Recovery Girl started, "Akane’s quirk is called ‘Conception’” she explained. “Whoever she hits with her quirk will become fertile regardless of what sex they are as long as they are the same species.”
“So, who’s fucking kid is it?" Katsuki interrupted. "Does it have her DNA or just Deku’s? And how the fuck does that even work?” He wasn’t sure why Akane had insisted he follow them. He had planned on going back to class on his own and hunting down Izuku later to get the information.
“Well, Bakugou, from what I understand about Akane’s quirk…and the story you boys told me” she paused, looking between the two boys. “That would be you.” She looked towards Akane for confirmation. Without raising her eyes from the ground, Akane nodded.
The two fell deadly silent, unmoving. "Is that why you fucking insisted I came here with you guys?" Katsuki growled.
Another shy nod.
“As for how it works: a temporary womb has begun to form inside of Midoriya’s body. Unlike a traditional pregnancy, this baby is already a few weeks along which is why the pregnancy test is able to show a positive. The baby, if you choose to keep it- “
“Of course I’m gonna keep it!” exclaimed Midoriya. With a panicked glance at Katsuki's shocked face he added “O-or at least…at least give it up for adoption or something…” he said, lowering his head.
Recovery Girl smiled. “When the baby is ready to be born, it will have to be a C-section since all your other reproductive organs stayed the same. Afterwards, the womb will disappear and your body should go back to normal.”
Noticing Izuku’s eyes start to swell with unshed tears, she turned her attention towards Katsuki. “Bakugou, I’m going to write a note to Mr. Aizawa to excuse you two from the rest of classes today. I want you both to go back to the dorms and talk about this.”
Katsuki nodded slowly and stood up to offer his hand to Izuku. Once outside Recovery Girl's office, they said goodbye to a distraught Akane and began walking back to the dorms.
"Do you want to go to my room or yours?" asked the blonde. Keeping his eyes on the ground, Izuku mumbled a quiet "Your room please, Kacchan."
With that, the two boys made their way back to the dorms, Izuku finally letting the tears fall down his cheeks.
