Kaiju's Mouthful

Summary:

It was supposed to be a routine mission, it wasn't supposed to go so pear shaped.

Name: Ryu Ryokagashi
Quirk: Maw.
His mouth is filled with extremely strong sharp, and his skin is strong and flexible allowing him to open his mouth to impossible widths almost animalisticly.
His quirk comes with a risk... if he swallows another persons blood he loses himself to his own animalistic instincts.

Notes:

Ryu is my Bnha OC, his jaw is large and it causes a small slouch due to the weight.
He has longer shaggy brown hair and sad grey eyes. Hes a very kind person and can be a very awkward and timid person, but his urge to protect is strong.
His goal is to become a helpful hero.

Work Text:

“Wait! Stop!” was the last thing Ryu heard before tasting the sweet metallic taste of blood. The villain thrashed too hard for too long, and his bite was too deep, not allowing any outlet for the drool and blood which was quickly collecting in his mouth as he fought. Ryu was forced to swallow, and as soon as he did he could feel the creeping fog wash over his brain. Oh crap, not now, he thought as he felt his heartbeat increase and his mind slowly succumb to his more violent instincts. Bite, shred, kill.

The villain roared in pain and anger bashing Ryu, who was firmly attached to his arm, into a wall. He expected Ryu to release out of pain, and was shocked to feel Ryu’s large teeth sink further and further into his flesh a guttural growl coming from the teenager. He continued to ram Ryu into the wall.

“Why” crash. “Won’t” crash. “You” crash. “Let go!” He hollered, each impact causing more and more damage that spiderwebbed its way through the building. Soon the walls creaked and the ceiling began to cave in, closing the two off from the rest of Ryu’s team. His team leader looked on in horror as his other teammate grabbed him and ushered him out, the building quickly falling apart around them.

“No! Ryu!” He screamed, struggling against his teammates grip.
“We gotta get out!” She argued, ushering him out.

It was supposed to be a routine patrol in a decently safe neighborhood, something they’ve done a million times with no incident, something that shouldn’t have landed a student on a work study in danger. It was supposed to be safe, but now Ryu was engaged in a fight with a rampaging villain nearly three times his size, on the upper floor of a collapsing building. When the two got outside they called for backup.

The villain reached around and grabbed Ryu, yanking his body repeatedly, trying to pull him off. He yelled and stumbled as he tried to avoid falling debris. Ryu growled louder, and more violently as the villains pulling gained strength and became more desperate.

“What the hell kid, let go! I’ll kill ya’ I swear!” He yelled, gripping Ryu harder, his bones creaking under the villains hold. He gave one last hard pull and tripped, finally tearing Ryu off of him. When he hit the floor, it gave out from under him. He screamed as they fell, and Ryu was thrown from his grip upon impact, hitting a wall and slumping to the ground. The villain fell unconscious as the building finally came down on top of them, and Ryu smirked, his eyes pale and hazy, opening his maw, a huge chunk of flesh falling from it landing on the broken floor with a wet bloody plop.

Fifteen minuets passed before backup arrived and dug them out. They were both sent to the hospital, and the villain was later sent to jail. Ryu laid in recovery, he’d suffered several broken bones, mostly ribs, a concussion, and some internal bleeding. He sighed as he heard his mom outside the door, talking to his mother.

“Mrs. Ryokagashi, the good news is your son is stable and awake, we managed to stop the bleeding and set his bones. He shouldn’t do too much moving around too soon, his medical records show that he has a history of… over doing it. So we’re going to keep him here a little longer than usual to make sure that he heals correctly. He’s a very lucky kid.” The doctor said, his tone soft and calming. Ryu’s mom sighed heavily, silently thanking the heavens that Ryu was still alive. When she had gotten the phone call from the hero agency Ryu was doing his work study with she nearly collapsed in fear.

“So… Whats the bad news?” She asked hesitantly. The doctor looked up from his clipboard at her and adjusted his glasses.

“Well… He does appear to be suffering from some mild amnesia, most likely trauma induced. He doesn’t seem to be able to remember most of the fight between him and the villain. When you see him, it might be best not to try to ask for too many details about the incident from him… at least for now.” He said, sighing slightly. Ryu’s mother nodded acceptingly.

“I see, thank you doctor.” She said before going in to Ryu’s room. Ryu watched as she approached and sat down. She gave him a loving, thankful smile, her metallic teeth shining a little in the hospital lighting.

“Hi mom.” Ryu said, his voice soft and a bit groggy. His mother reached for his hand and held it warmly.

“Hi honey, I’m so glad you’re awake. I was so worried.” She said trying not to tear up. Ryu smiled at her, squeezing her hand softly. Her slender hand looked so small in his, granted, his hands were larger than a regular persons.

“I’m okay, I’m here. Don’t cry mom.” He said softly. She smiled at him and let out a shaky sigh.

“I thought… I thought I had lost you again. I know you want to be a hero, but Ryu, please don’t make the hospital your second home.” she said, trying to make a small joke to distract from her tears. Ryu chuckled almost uncomfortably and smiled slightly, rubbing his thumb against the back of his mothers hand.

“I’m not trying to, I swear. These beds are just so comfortable.” He joked back. His mother chuckled genuinely, causing him to smile.

“You’re so cheeky” she said. They chuckled and chatted together for a good while before the nurse came in. Ryu’s mother excused herself, walking outside to make a phone call.

As the nurse checked Ryu’s vitals he thought about the fight, or, what he could remember of it anyway. It wasn’t much, most of the events were blacked out with a fog. All he could clearly remember was charging at the villain while his teammates hesitated. Luckily he had taken the man by surprise, so his first attack was very effective and allowed him to get a good hold of the meaty part of the villains arm. He remembered struggling to stay on, tightening his bite as the villain thrashed in surprise… after that it was all a blur until he woke up in the hospital.

He sighed when the nurse left, looking out the window his eyes growing sadder. He could hear the ticking of the clock and the hum of machinery, sounds he was starting to grow very accustomed to.

“Kaiju… Why are you a part of me.” He said to himself moments before his mother came back into the room, informing Ryu that his father would be here soon. He smiled at his mother, thankful that she seemed blissfully unaware of the side of him he did, but did not know, and they waited for his father.
