Work Text:
Midoriya fiddles with his costume, He can barely believe he survived being a first year at U.A.! Looking himself in the mirror He smiles, This years Spirit week was going to be a crazy one. It had taken some less than honorable actions to get the schedule for this years spirit week but he had managed and had a solid four week head start on the costumes he’d be wearing this week.
The first day was Rising Heroes! One’s that had just made their debut or were finally making their way up the social ladder that is the hero rankings every year. Making his way down to the common room plenty of his classmates weren’t even wearing costumes! Dunking his head into his costume Midoriya shuffles into the kitchen and suddenly everything seemed too quiet.
Midoriya stood stock still in his armor, Wide eyes from all of his classmates almost make him run back to his room but suddenly Iida is right in front of him with a dropped jaw and a blush overtaking his face. A hand preemptively chopping the air in embarrassment.
“M-Midoriya! I-I!” Iida sputters, Looking down at his green friend clad in armor that is a near replica of his own when he is in his hero gear! Iida scrunches his eyes closed to try and fend off the blush burning on his face. “I’M Honored!” He managed to shout, making the small group of early rising students wince.
“Iida!” Midoriya finds himself rising his voice to get the taller boy’s attention.
“Yes?”
“I think you’ll be an incredible hero one day, I count myself really lucky to be your friend.” Midoriya smiles to himself. “We’ve all been through a lot last year, But we’re all still students, And we’re all still improving with every day! So we may have a long way to go before we’re full fledged heroes but we’re on our way and I can’t wait to see you rise Iida! I can’t wait to be there with you when we rise through the ranks as heroes! Together!” Midoriya cheers with a grin.
Iida stands there stunned at the passionate belief that his green friend has in him. Tears burn his eyes but don’t fall and He claps a hand down on to Midoriya’s shoulder.
“I will do my utmost to live up to your belief in me Midoriya!” Iida replies, His free hand chopping the air with intensity.
They share a wild and open grin before sitting down to breakfast. If Iida has a hard time looking at or talking with his green friend the rest of the day without blushing, Well, Thankfully no one calls him on it.

Yesterday had gone well, Midoriya laughs to himself. Iida had been unable to properly speak to him most of the day. Flustering his friend like that was surprisingly fun!
The second day of Spirit week was a recycle from last year, Unusual Quirk day! And With the help of his Mom, Midoriya was donned in armor once more, Only this time a red cape draped over his shoulders and he stared into the mirror with trepidation.
Dressing as Mirio...Or LeMillion…
Dressing as Mirio was a tough thing, The boy had lost his quirk, It had taken weeks of Mirio smashing it into his head that it wasn’t Midoriya’s fault. There was still a dark little twist in his gut whenever he thought about it though.
If only he had been quicker...
Midoriya shakes his head and meets his own eyes in the mirror. Mirio deserved to be remembered as the hero he was. Not the hero he wasn’t going to be anymore, If his quirk never returns that is. Shaking his head again to clear the pessimistic thoughts Midoriya gathers his things and with the swish of red he’s on his way to class.
Aoyama shrieks in french when he sees Midoriya, The red cape fanning out behind him as he walks. Insisting on pictures as Aoyama is dressed as All Might, His hair styled to perfection and his own cape furling behind him. Midoriya laughs as the boy snaps a multitude of pictures.
It’s lunchtime before Mirio spots him and even without his quirk he nearly rockets across the cafeteria to his underclassman.
“Midoriya!” He shrieks with a large grin stretching across his face. He’s donned a suit and combed his hair over. “I can’t believe you dressed as me!” Mirio cheers.
“Of course I did! Mirio You’re...You’re Eri’s Hero!” Midoriya find himself rising his voice. “I-You’re just the most admirable...Upperclassman I’ve ever had! You’re always doing your best to keep others smiling and in good spirits. I’m...I just...You’re MY Hero Mirio.” Midoriya glances up from where he was trying to hide his blush.
Mirio stand before him with a shocked expression. His hand grasping the air futilely.
“Oh Midoriya!” Nejire cries, Dragging Tamaki behind her. “You look so cute! Let me get a picture of you two!!”
As soon as the words are out of her mouth Mirio drags Midoriya into his side and his easy smile turns into a stern look. Perfectly matching Sir Nighteye’s signature expression.
Midoriya dredges up a wide and bright smile and Nejire snaps more than a few photos all while cheering and doing hilarious poses for “The Angle!”
“Alright Alright!” Nejire laughs. “Let’s go eat!”
Midoriya finds himself trapped at Mirio’s side. Looking up he meets Mirio’s somber gaze and Midoriya gulps the guilt that swells in his throat.
“Thank you.” Mirio says quietly.
“You’ll always be Lemillion to me. A Hero.”
Thankfully no one calls them out for hugging in the middle of the cafeteria.

Versatile Heroes! The third day of Spirit week dawns bright and warm and Midoriya finds himself strapping on tall dark boots and the capture weapon he had used last year for his Erasurehead costume.
With a practiced smirk in the mirror Midoriya laughs quietly to himself and head out. He had been guiltily excited when Mineta was expelled for taking it just a bit too far.
The replacement student had been an absolute upgrade in every way. Plus! Their quirk was the absolute coolest thing Midoriya had learned about in a long time. With so many ways it could be utilized int the field!
Midoriya swings open the classroom door and the excited chatter grows into a few cheers as he enters. Midoriya schools his expression into a tired smirk making his friends burst into laughter.
“Deku!” Uraraka laughs. “It’s amazing! I can’t wait to see how Shinsou reacts!
Iida, Knowing full well how flustering it was to have Midoriya’s full attention on you just chuckled. A faint blush across his cheeks.
“Uh.” There’s that deadpan voice they love so much!
Midoriya turns around, A gleam in his eyes he can’t quite school his features into the smirk he had practiced all night. Midoriya lets himself grin up at his tall friend.
Shinsou covers his face. Seeing the sunshine kid...The golden child dressed as him. Well after his childhood no one could blame him for being thrown off!
Thrown off enough to miss the first part of Midoriya’s well known praising fests. Only making the blush on his cheeks worsen.
“-nd! You’ve improved so much! Improved on an already powerful and Useful quirk! I genuinely can’t wait to see where you take yourself as a hero. I mean!” Midoriya gasps for air. “I know you’re going for the underground! Right! SO you have to be secretive and a lot more stealthy! You could save so many people how could I not think of you for Versatile Quirk day!”
The silence that follows is almost deafening until a tired laugh pulls itself out of Shinsou. “You’re something else Midoriya.”
“Oh! No! I’m just me and you’re pretty cool!” Midoriya grins brightly.
Shinsou coughs awkwardly and thankfully is saved by their gruff teacher slamming open the door.
“Silence and Seats!” Aizawa demands, Glaring at the scrambling kids. Dutifully ignoring his blushing protege and the grinning Problem Child.

Powerful Women Day! Midoriya loves that U.A. tries to cover all their bases when it comes to Spirit Week. Trying to hit a wide variety of categories so no group of heroes feel left out.
With a small laugh Midoriya looks into his closet for his next costume. Most of his closet was starting to overflow with these new pieces of clothing. Though he supposes he could always go to Herocon with a few of them next time he goes.
This week was really putting Midoriya in a great mood. Being able to show how much he appreciates and respects his friends, Even if its just as small as a dressing up as them and rambling at them about how great they are.
Tugging on his pink boots and throwing on his backpack Midoriya is on his way to class. A bounce in his step. Thankfully the friend he’s dressed as today is a late riser so he has time to get to class long before they have a chance to see him.
Iida snickers uncharacteristically when he sees Midoriya pass. At least he’s not the only friend that’s being tormented by Midoriya’s genuine belief in them as Heroes.
Midoriya is sitting quietly finishing up his homework from yesterday’s Ethics class when a sharp gasp draw his attention.
And there she is.
Uraraka is the color of a bright red tomoato, Her eyes trained on Midoriya dressed in black and pink. His boots are even puffy like hers!
Her second thought is Holy Crap! Deku looks good in pink!
“E-Eh-EEEH!” Uraraka stutters as her friend stands and walks up to her.
Midoriya places a hand on her shoulder with a shy blush of his own. “I know you have reservation and are a little embarrassed about your reasons for becoming a hero.” He starts seriously. “But Uraraka, I see what an amazing hero you’re turning out to be. With every crazy interaction, With every spar session, and Every study session, I see how much you’ve improved and how far you are going to go. One day you’re going to be an incredible hero, With you’re personality I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to be in the top ten eventually!” Taking a deep breath Midoriya grins at his friend. “Let’s continue to work hard and Learn to be the best heroes..Together!”
“Y-Yeah!” Uraraka tries to cheer, Covering the tears that threaten to fall. A smile stretching her cheeks. She herself is dressed AimPoint a female sidekick at Gunhead’s agency. “You’re too much sometimes!” She finds herself yelling ans tugging up the purple scarf around her burning cheeks.

The final day of Spirit week and the whole class is vibrating in excitement. Who was Midoriya gonna dress as for StandOut Heroes day? Whatever that meant!
Midoriya huffs in frustration as his hair fights the style he’s forcing it to take. He’s only just woken up and started to get ready. Today’s was a hard pick. He had so many wonderful classmates and friends that he wished he could dress as all of them but in the end he had to make a choice.
But in the end he really couldn’t leave Todoroki out, and no one needed to know the vindictive pleasure Midoriya got when he thought about flustering his friends.
Midoriya debated painting on his friends signature scar but ultimately decided against it. Not wanting Todoroki to be reminded of it when he looked at Midoriya.
So with a final huff Midoriya sets his combs and straightener down and is pleased with his work. The navy suit that made his friends Hero suit was comfortable enough, But the straps around his shoulders were a bit uncomfortable.
It would all be worth it once he walked into the common room.
“OOOOH!!” Uraraka cheers, Who is quickly followed by Ashido shrieking.
“Your hair!!” Ashido shouts him Midoriya’s ear ruffles the soft straight strands.
“I know.” Midoriya says with a small smile.
An Awkward cough interrupts the girls clamoring to feel up Midoriya’s flat hair.
In the doorway behind the small group was none other than Todoroki. An awkward pinch to his face accentuated by a burning blush.
The girls begin to snicker and back away as Midoriya turns to fully face his embarrassed friend.
“Midoriya.” Todoroki says quietly.
“You…”
“Please don’t-”
“Are! An amazing person! That’s really improved in such a dramatic way how could you not stand out among even everyone at the top hero school in Japan! You’ve learned to control your fire, And now you use it so fluidly in tandem with your ice, It’s certainly one of the most beautiful and powerful things and I’m sure with your intelligence and Kindness you will become a truly phenomenal hero one day!” Midoriya gasps as arms are squeezed around him and he awkwardly wraps his arms around Todoroki who is shaking slightly.
“Thank you.” Todoroki whispers quietly into his friends ear. SO quiet Midoriya doesn’t think anyone else could have heard it.
“This is nothing. You’re amazing Todoroki!” Midoriya stressed his words by pulling from the hug.
“Shouto.”
And it’s Midoriya’s turn to be surprised, A blush burning his cheeks as he squeaks.
Their moment is interrupted by the warning bell, And suddenly it’s a mad scramble of students trying to get to class before Aizawa kills them.
“Call me Izuku!” Midoriya could be heard calling back to his friend with laughter in his voice as they ran.
