Summary:

Bakugou Katsuki was suppose to be better. Midoriya Izuku was suppose to be useless. So, why do people like Midoriya better? Why did he get a better Quirk than him? Why is Bakugou suddenly unneeded?

Notes:

I don't own my hero academia. I wrote this for personal and a need to understand. Also, I like Midoriya, hes my favorite character but it doesn't mean I don't like Bakugou

Chapter Text

Bakugou never had friends. It wasn't not like he ever wished to have them, they were pathetic creatures that constantly tried to match his power. Like tiny little bugs trying to steal food from him. Trying to reach the star dust that the prodigy left behind yet it all made him laugh.

Who could've matched his strength?

Fucking nobody.

With all his strength that a child shouldn't have, Bakugou was promised by strangers and family that his power, his Quirk could even beat the one and only: All Might. Bakugou Katsuki grinned ear to ear, "Me?" That's all he ever wanted, to be better than his hero and without his knowledge something bloomed inside him.

He learned that he could be a little mean to them and they ate that shit up! They saw him better... they saw him as a god!

They asked to be around him, they begged to see his Quirk. Bakugou was the smartest, he was the bestest, he was the greatest; Nobody was suppose to see him as an equal, but that when his forced friend came into the story. Midoriya Izuku, a boy who matched his enthusiasm to become a hero, but Bakugou hated him with his entire body and soul.

Midoriya was babied because his father worked overseas, because he was a crybaby.

Bitterness swelled inside Bakugou, he was forced to be his friend all because their two moms used to he friends. Midoriya asked him if they would ever be heroes that will fight side by side. Bakugou chuckled, "I don't know. But you have to have a strong Quirk if you want me be with me. I can't save you all the time."

The boy smiled, "Yay!"

Midoriya ended up being Quirkless. Bakugou laughed, he couldn't believe that Midoriya actually thought he could've beaten him. HIM! Midoriya cried for at least a couple of days when he realized that he could never, ever, ever be like All Might. But Bakugou can. He knows he can. Their teachers didn't even try to make Midoriya feel better, they paid attention to Bakugou and his Quirk.

"You have to be careful with your Quirk. It's quite dangerous for a child to have. It can make you deaf, hurt your hand-"

Blah, blah, blah, blah. That's all the young boy heard. Bakugou let his hand explode for good measure. But he did notice Midoriya taking note. He had his stupid notebook for the future, he wrote down everything that the teacher wrote. Creepy kid. Bakugou rolled his eyes and continued to pretend listen.

Days passed. Bakugou had his group of extras enjoying being stepped on, he was cruel- it was fine. They'll love him. But something that Bakugou didn't like was that Midoriya kept following him. Didn't he know that Bakugou and Midoriya were in different worlds? Bakugou will never fall into Midoriya's position, he was a deku. Pathetic useless thing. Bakugou grinned, he pushed Deku to the ground.

Deku's eyes widen, "Kacchan? Are you okay?" Bakugou scowled, "Stop being like that Deku." Now the green boy was curious at that word, "Deku?"

"Yeah, it means useless." Bakugou was proud, "You have no Quirk and all-"

"But I can still be a hero." Deku said, with a smile as large as All Might's. "Everyone can be saved," Bakugou Katsuki rolled his eyes as Deku continued. "We all need to be saved once in a while."

He hated that kid. How dare he- Bakugou bit his tongue as their mothers' drank tea together. Deku was showing Bakugou his room, his notebooks and everything that made green boy smile. "Yeah, so this is my limited poster I have." Bakugou rolled his eyes, he punch Deku's arm and the boy didn't even hiss with pain. The stupid boy was getting used to his pain- pathetic! All he was good for was getting beat up. And he doesn't even tell Aunt Inko about his friendly fire.

Last week, they were so rough that Deku even spat blood. "Why?" Deku asked, "To make you tougher. You do want to be a hero, right?" Bakugou was so fill with pride that he never thought about nothing; his power, his strength and his attitude that had no issues. The teachers even have called Deku useless.

"Aunt Inko bought you that because your dad is still not back from America- right?"

The perfect jab.

Deku shook his head, "No! He writes letters to me. He says he misses me a lot."

"He probably left you because you have no Quirk." Bakugou sat on the ground, he placed his hand on the carpet as he let it explode. Deku winced, Bakugou grinned. "Ah, Deku. How can you be a hero if loud noises scare you?" Deku shook his head once again, "I don't get scared." Bakugou growled, "Stop lying Deku, nobody would miss you." Deku pouted his lips, "Don't be mean, Kacchan."

"I am not being mean. I am being honest. Nobody would miss you."

No matter what Bakugou did to Deku, Deku always seemed to pity him. Why? That pathetic loser! Deku's eyes were gentle as his body had bruises from all his attacks.

"Are you okay?"

His hand between them.

Deku was on the ground with blood and a wound on his arm. He was sobbing softly, clearly not understand what in the world was happening. Deku looked up at Bakugou, his swollen eyes was bloodshot with tears and the black eye he was going to get. The extras were beating up somebody who tried to get in the way, the stupid kid defended Deku. "I don't get it." Bakugou began, "You know that you don't have a Quirk. When have you met someone who is Quirkless, they don't even exist yet here you are!"

The extras laughed, of course they did, they didn't have anything else to do.

"We aren't friends. I wouldn't be friends with somebody like you." Deku tried to stand up but Bakugou placed his hand on Deku's shoulder. He popped his explosions on his body, Deku cried even louder. "Kacchan-"

"Stop calling me Kacchan!" You don't deserve me as a friend or anything around that. Bakugou now focused on the boy on the ground, his hand was popping and popping. But Deku pushed him to the ground.

Bakugou's mother and Aunt Inko stopped making them see each other after that day. Deku was still part of his everyday life but now he flinched. Just seeing him made him flinch. Bakugou laughed it off.

When Bakugou was asleep, his mother cried so much. Her husband hugged her as she cried, "I don't get it-" Her frustration grew and grew as her only child became cruel. "I used to have anger issues but never like this." She pushed her hay hair back, her face felt sticky and hot. "I used to hit the bullies." Her husband petted her hair, "We need to take him to therapy or something."

"We were bad parents."

"Katsuki is still young. We can still be good parents." Her wife rolled her eyes, "So, why is Inko doing a better job than us? Her husband is gone and-"

"All the kids are different. Inko is probably struggling her own issues with Midoriya." She pushed her husband off her, she stood up as anger grew inside her. "When I was younger, my parents ignored me. They didn't want to deal with my bullshit, if it weren't for Inko I would still be angry. Izuku is just a sweet kid and I thought-"

"Katsuki and you are two different people. You two grew up in different environments, you can't expect him to be the same." Her husband said, "Look, I honestly think therapy can help."

Years passed, Bakugou was preparing his UA paperwork as his mother looked at him proudly. "How's it going?"

"I'm tired but I am done." Bakugou placed all the things inside the envelope, he faked a smile as he put on his backpack. His naive mother had thought that he was better, but it wasn't necessarily true or false. Yes, he got better but it was all for UA. They had a high profile that wouldn't allow his bad reputation... as if he had any bad shit in him. He had calm down way too much but his anger towards Deku didn't change.

His therapist told him that he needed to change his angry, violent thoughts into positive things. So he decided to change it to studying and practicing to fight and to improve his god-like Quirk. But everytime he tried, Deku was behind him. Studying as hard. Being or at least trying to be as good as him. But Midoriya that stupid Deku can't be like him.

Everyone knew that a Quirkless person like Deku cannot be a hero! How can they became a hero if your Quirk defines you? Bakugou felt his teeth clench harshly, he hated him so fucking much. Bakugou was the only hero that can exist. Everyone had stupid, weak, pathetic Quirks, but not him. Bakugou will protect the people to be number one. He deserves it. He has the best Quirk.

And he wanted everyone to know so as he made Deku suffer. It wasn't as physical like it used to be, but holy hell it was emotional. He belittled him every second, he couldn't stop smiling as the forced childhood friend forced a smile. Why is he so stupidly strong? How can a Quirkless person think their life can be worth it in this world?

Everyone continued to laugh as they saw Deku being destroyed by Bakugou.

How? How did Deku see his life was needed if this is how they acted? This is the way they 'cared' about him. But he didn't give up. He said he'll go in UA, he said that he'll be a Pro-Hero. The Quirkless hero.

Bakugou gave Deku a good luck burn in his shoulder, and grinned, "Why don't you take a swan dive off the school?"

But apparently it wasn't enough. Bakugou was scream yet nothing can come out, his struggles made it worst and all he could do is cry. It's not fair! He began to hate every fiber of his body, he turned stronger and for what? For this? The villain was laughing, "You're a fighter. I like that." It hissed softly in his ear, it was only him and the villain. "You are so strong. So perfect! Nobody will save you like that other boy."

The other boy... Bakugou tried to imagine the other boy. He was worthy to save... Bakugou wasn't. So, it was true. When someone is so close to death, they turn into the person they really are.

Slowly. Slowly everything turned dark. There wasn't even a light.

As air finally entered through his lungs, Bakugou saw Deku. He was the first stupid thing he saw; A Quirkless person saved him while everyone suddenly appeared. Bakugou took a large breath as tears escaped his eyes. FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! Bakugou screamed loudly, he was so happy to be alive but he had to save the boy with this best Quirk. "Kacchan?" Midoriya had tears in his eyes, "Shut up, Deku." He hissed with anger, How dare you touch me? You- son of a bitch.

Notes:

Bakugou is such an interesting character for me but in my opinion the best bully redemption arc is from A SILENT VOICE. this story is kind of inspired by that movie
