Chapter Text

There were certain things that Jimin expected to happen when he went to a party. He expected to see friends, he expected to meet new people, he expected to drink, and more than likely he’d end up kissing someone.

What he didn’t expect was for one of his friends to ask him to be his first kiss. Especially not when he didn’t even know his friend hadn’t done that yet.

Jimin had always thought that Hoseok was just shy and didn’t like to hook up in public. It was a perfectly logical reason to never see him go further than talking to someone.

Apparently, he was wrong though. Because after watching Hoseok squirm away from someone who tried to lean in closer, he came right over to him. Hoseok plucked the drink right out of Jimin’s hand and chugged it down, liquid slipped out the rim and down his chin.

“Woah,” Jimin touched a hand to Hoseok’s arm. “Take it easy hyung.”

“Sorry,” Hoseok wiped at his chin with the back of his hand. “I always get too nervous when someone tries to kiss me.”

“It’s okay to want to keep that stuff private,” Jimin tried to assure him.

But Hoseok just shook his head, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve never done it at all.”

At first, Jimin furrowed his eyebrows and then he wondered if he had misheard. It was oddly loud at the party, people all around were talking and music was playing.

“I’m sorry...what?”

“I’ve never kissed anyone,” Hoseok said the words quietly that time.

His cheeks had tinted pink, either from the alcohol or from embarrassment. Jimin felt his eyebrows raising in surprise.

“How?” He murmured.

Hoseok shrugged, “I get scared.”

Jimin felt a tug at his heart, “There’s nothing to be scared of.”

“Easy for you to say,” Hoseok sighed.

He was ready to ask Hoseok what he meant but they were interrupted by a tipsy Taehyung who tried to jump on Jimin and managed to spill a drink over the both of them. At least it made Hoseok laugh and so Jimin did too.

“I’m going to need to change now,” Jimin said as he tried to wipe off the excess liquid with his hand.

“Sorry Jiminie,” Taehyung gave him a pout and Jimin pinched his cheek.

“It’s fine.”

The three of them ended up leaving together, mostly because Jimin and Taehyung were roommates. It seemed like Hoseok just wanted an excuse to leave and Jimin didn’t mind. He wasn’t tired anyway so he was happy their night wasn’t actually ending yet.

When they got back to the apartment Jimin waved his hand vaguely in the air, “Help yourself to a drink or anything while I get changed.”

“Okay,” Hoseok replied while he started to slip off his shoes.

Jimin was quick to chuck off his own and quickly make his way to his bedroom to get changed. Meanwhile, Taehyung lagged behind with Hoseok. He just wanted to get out of the damp clothes as soon as possible, the sticky feeling on his skin was driving him a little insane.

Since they were just at home anyways, he traded out his tight jeans for comfortable sweats. He peeled off the damp shirt and replaced it with one a few sizes too big so that it hung off his shoulders. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for wearing around at home, Hosoek had seen him dressed similarly before.

Taehyung and Hoseok were giggling about something when he got back out to the common area of the apartment. There were bottles of beer in their hands and an extra one for Jimin resting on the coffee table.

“You’re both lightweights,” Jimin said under his breath when they turned to look at him with pink cheeks.

“That’s not always a bad thing,” Taehyung gave him a full smile and Jimin had to laugh.

“I suppose,” Jimin picked up the bottle they’d left out for him to bring it to his lip, he looked at Hoseok while he took a sip.

Hoseok mirrored the movement, taking a sip of his drink too. It was probably going to be one of those nights where he ended up crashing for the night. Jimin made a mental note to get him a blanket and pillow before Hoseok passed out.

Jimin was small enough to squeeze between his two friends on the couch after retrieving some snacks from the kitchen as well. If they were going to drink a bit more it was better to have food in their stomachs. Taehyung turned on one of his chill playlists and the night in ended up being more fun than going out.

There was a nice buzz in his system by the time Taehyung got up, saying he wanted to jump in the shower before bed.

“You do stink,” Jimin joked and Taehyung swatted at him.

Hoseok giggled happily next to him as he tried to duck away from Taehyung’s hands. When he finally gave in and went to the bathroom Jimin took the chance to take over the extra space on the couch to spread out.

“Thanks for letting me come over,” Hoseok shifted too.

“Of course,” Jimin hummed. “Anytime.”

“It almost makes me forget about earlier.”

Jimin pressed his lips together, not entirely sure what to say. It felt like a delicate situation, he didn’t want to do anything that would make his friend feel more self-conscious than he probably already did.

“I wish there was someone I was comfortable with to just get it over with,” Hoseok started to ramble as though he’d actually been thinking about it in his head all night. “Someone that will be nice about it but maybe can also help me?”

Jimin hummed, “That sounds nice.”

“Right?” Hoseok leaned up a little, suddenly seeming more alert. “I just need a little kissing coach.”

“Kissing coach,” Jimin repeated and laughed at the name. “What am I going to college for? I should just do that.”

“You’d do it?”

Jimin shrugged, “Kissing is fun.”

Hoseok made a nervous sound in the back of his throat, “So...teach me?”

~~~
If you asked Hoseok where he got the idea from he couldn’t really answer. It just bubbled into his brain through the night and he latched onto it the more he heard Jimin talking and the more he realized he was comfortable discussing the topic with him
He knew that he could trust his friend to be careful with his feelings and that Jimin was the type of person to take him seriously at the same time. If he asked Jimin for a favor he knew that he could lean on him for help. Of course, this wasn’t the normal type of thing to ask for and he knew that.
Which was why he wasn’t surprised when Jimin’s mouth dropped open, and his eyes blinked a few times like he was trying to process it all.
Jimin replied quietly after a minute, “What?”
“Maybe you could teach me,” Hoseok clarified. “I know you’re good at it. I've seen it in action enough times.”
Suddenly Jimin was choking out another, “What?!”
“Like you said,” Hoseok giggled slightly. “You think it’s fun so you do it enough in public.”
“Why is this suddenly embarrassing,” Jimin groaned and covered his face.
“But that’s a good thing!” Hoseok pat his back through Jimin’s shirt. “I want to be like you, that’s why I’m asking. The confidence you exude is amazing.”
“Maybe we’ve had too much to drink,” Jimin stood up. “Let me get you a blanket and stuff so we can get some sleep.”
Hoseok didn’t have time to try and convince Jimin he meant it in a complimentary way before his friend was up and walking away. From behind he could see the way Jimin’s neck had started to turn red. He was embarrassed? Or maybe just flustered by the whole thing?
Chewing on his lip, Hoseok hoped that he hadn’t bothered him too much. Maybe they did need to sleep on it.
When Jimin came back with things for him to sleep with Hoseok didn’t make any more comments on it. But that didn’t mean that he didn’t stop thinking about it. He unfurled the blanket and fluffed up the pillow but his mind was elsewhere.
He laid down on his makeshift bed formed on the couch and thought about all the times he had seen Jimin in action. It was obvious that Jimin was skilled, he never shied away from what he was doing with his partners. Hoseok wondered if he could learn to be like that.
For years he’d wanted to start dating, he’d always been excited by the concept. But for whatever reason, he just always panicked whenever anyone showed interest in him. Because he knew what it would ultimately lead to, and he had no idea what he was doing there.
Having to admit out loud to people that he’d never even kissed anyone was way too embarrassing. Which was why he so rarely owned up to it. Instead, he let people assume whatever they thought about him. It seemed like it was becoming rarer that anyone was interested in him though, probably because of that reason.
Lately, it was something he worried about more and more. He wasn’t a young freshman anymore, he didn’t have an excuse to be so wary about it all. It was something he wanted to do, but he wanted to do it well. Maybe his perfectionism was to blame, mostly it felt like a mess of anxiety in his brain.
But with Jimin he usually felt like he could be at ease, he could be himself. That was probably why he was suddenly obsessed with this idea. When he pictured Jimin leaning in to press his lips on Hoseok’s, he didn’t feel bothered by it. He could imagine himself closing his eyes and leaning in, letting Jimin take control and take care of it all.
The idea felt nice, safe, comfortable. It felt like something he wanted to try, he just had to convince Jimin of the same thing it seemed.
So how did he talk his friend into kissing him without too much pressure? It plagued his mind the entire time he tried to lay there in silence. The apartment was completely quiet except for the thoughts that continued to run through his mind.
