Chapter 1: 12/2

Chapter Text

Today is my first day back in Mondstadt. Adelinde and Elzer greeted me and cooked a huge dinner for me. They didn’t talk about Kaeya at all, which makes sense since we did end on a bad note. It’s fine I’ll check up on him when I get to the city. I wonder how my little brother is doing. Will he forgive me for not being there?

Everyone in Mondstadt celebrated Diluc’s return. Everyone thought he resigned the knights to go on a journey to grieve for his father. The story the knights weaved doesn’t quite make sense but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is their uncrowned king, Diluc is back.
It’s nighttime, the time where bars are filled with people drinking the rest of the days away. And those people include Kaeya. Kaeya was truly surprised to see Diluc manning the bar instead of the usual bartender Charles. It doesn’t matter who the bartender is, as long as they serve him it’s fine.
“A Death After Noon for me please, dear master Diluc.”
Diluc glances at him for a long minute, brows furrowing in a frown. Kaeya feels as if he is being judged by an angel sent to execute the devil. His hands start to feel itchier and itchier as time passes by. It is only until after he looks away does Diluc pours some grape juice in a glass and slides it over to him.
“My, my, master Diluc have you perhaps became deaf on your little journey? Or maybe you have been away so long you have forgotten how to mix drinks?” Kaeya’s voice was sharp with an edge, cold like his cryo vision. Diluc doesn’t even bother to give any sort of response before he turns to serve other customers. Kaeya just sits at the bar counter, swirling the juice around the glass and taking tiny sips in between. He sits at the counter alone until a knight invites him to the table he is sitting at. Kaeya gladly accepts.

Why is Kaeya dressing so provocative? My little brother was modest and wears turtlenecks and jackets even during the summer! He used to be so shy and self-conscious what happened to him? Did someone make him do this? Was it because I wasn’t there to protect him? Why did the knight invite him to their table? They dont deserve to talk to Kaeya, more or less go near him. If it wasn’t for the other customers and Kaeya in the tavern I would kill him. Burn him to ashes and toss them into the wind from the top of Barbatos palms. Maybe the knights force him to do this. Yeah, no surprise it's the knights, given how the tried to give father’s credit for destroying the beast to those disgusting Fatui. I’ll save Kaeya from the knights.
