Work Text:
Every day, without fail, Katsuki leaves his afternoon classes as soon as possible and goes home. It’s a routine he refuses to break, no matter how much his friends bother him to hang around, grab a coffee, or talk about their future assignments. Everyone assumes that Katsuki does that because of his antisocial nature and the fact that, underneath his bad-boy image, he’s quite a homebody.
But they’re wrong.
Alright, not completely wrong. Katsuki does enjoy spending time alone in his home, reading books, and taking his time to do his homework. But that’s not why he always rushes away as soon as the professor dismisses the class.
No, Katsuki has way less pure intentions. He doesn’t like to admit to that, but Katsuki leaves class in a hurry every day because on his path home there’s a park; and in that park, there’s a playground; and in that playground, there are children with their parents; and one of those children has the most beautiful dam Katsuki has ever seen. And they’re there every afternoon, at the precise time that Katsuki’s classes end.
There was no way Katsuki would not notice the omega. First, because male omegas are quite rare and Katsuki has never met one in person (and always dreamed about meeting one in person). And second, because the omega’s long, looped ears are the cutest thing. Yeah, Katsuki, a wolf hybrid, is crushing on an older, probably mated bunny hybrid — talk about impossible love.
So even though his crush is doomed from the moment he saw the pretty bunny, he can’t help but take a good, long look at the omega and his kit every day after classes. It’s always a bucolic sight; the bunny sits on the grass, he and his son playing with toys. The kit is quite young, around three-years-old and, unlike his dam, he has tall, upside ears like a hare.
Today is no different. Katsuki packs his bag and runs out of the door as soon as class ends, ignoring the protests of his friends. He doesn’t want to miss the daily view of the bunny.
And the view doesn’t disappoint. The bunny is pushing his kit in a swing made for the smaller children. The boy giggles excitedly, moving his little legs in the air, and his dam has the biggest and brightest smile, clearly happy to be playing with his toddler.
They make such a cute image that Katsuki can’t help but to stop and appreciate it for a while. The bunny’s green hair shines in the afternoon sun and his laughter fills the air as his boy pleads, “Papa! Higher, Papa! Higher!”
“I think that’s high enough, Zumi,” the bunny answers with humor.
“But I wanna fly! Voosh! Like All Might!”
“Alright, just a little bit more!”
Katsuki chuckles at their exchange. It’s terribly endearing. And the kid has good taste; All Might is the best superhero there is. Katsuki collects his vintage comics and never misses a movie premiere. It’d be nice to take the bun and the little guy to see the next movie, which should come out in Fall.
Being so caught up in his little fantasy, Katsuki doesn’t realize he’s been staring for way longer than what’s appropriate and several other playground moms are watching him warily. He only notices something is wrong when the bunny looks up straight at him with a puzzled expression on his face. Their eyes meet for a split second before Katsuki gets a hold of himself and looks away, face bright red in embarrassment.
Quickly, he goes back to walking his path home. He can’t believe he’s actually becoming a stalker to the man. Katsuki should stop this nonsense, take a different path home, and quit harassing the poor bunny. He knows that’s what he should do.
And yet, the next day, without a fail, Katsuki leaves class as soon as it’s over to catch a glimpse of the duo in the playground.

Every day, when the weather is nice enough, Izuku takes his son Izumi to play in the park. They live in a small apartment that has nowhere near enough space for his little hare to spread his legs and run like he wants. Izumi is a very energetic child, like most hare kits, and Izuku refuses to leave his little boy cooped up in their home all the time he isn’t at school.
That doesn’t explain why they walk five blocks to the park they go to every day when there’s a good enough little playground just around the corner of their building. No, what explains that is the deadly handsome wolf that passes by the park every day.
The wolf is blond, tall, a perfect alpha specimen. Izuku first saw him when the little playground near their home was going through maintenance and he had to take Izuku to the bigger, further away park. After Izuku saw the handsome wolf for the first time walking leisurely on the path right next to the kids’ playground, he decided Izumi needed to come to the bigger park to enjoy the open space in their daily outings.
Another important feature that Izuku identified in the wolf is that he’s clearly a college student by the UA book bag he carries — which makes him almost 10 years younger than Izuku. So maybe it’s not very appropriate for Izuku to check him out with the corner of his eye every time he passes by, but Izuku can’t help it! It’s the damn bunny hormones and all that. He hasn’t had a boyfriend since Izumi’s father left after finding out Izuku was pregnant and it’s not often one finds an alpha as impressive as that wolf.
Once the wolf even caught Izuku looking his way, but he obviously looked away as quickly as he could. He must be used to this kind of thing, being as handsome as he is. And the young wolf certainly wouldn’t look twice to an old bunny with a little boy. Izuku is well aware his fascination with the wolf is a one-sided thing and that he’ll probably won’t ever even find out his name. But it doesn’t hurt to look, right?
Today, however, the wolf hasn’t passed by. Izumi played in the park until his little legs gave out and there was no sign of the wolf. So, when his little boy starts whining about wanting ice cream for dinner, Izuku decides it’s time to go home.
“Let’s go, Zumi!” Izuku calls and his son comes with his arms already raised to be picked up. It’s amazing how he can easily run around the park for the whole afternoon, but the moment Izuku says they’re going home, the little boy needs to be carried.
“Ice cream!” Izumi cheers, making Izuku roll his eyes with humor.
“No, we’re not having ice cream for dinner,” he explains, fixing Izumi in his arms and almost getting hit in the head by the All Might figurine the boy has in his hand. “You know ice cream is a treat and not a meal.”
“But I can get the strawberry ice cream!” Izumi argues as they walk out of the park.
“Just because it’s made of fruit, it still doesn’t make it healthy, baby.”
Izuku tries to say no to Izumi. He tries to make sure the little boy isn’t too spoiled. But the big pout on Izumi’s lips is too much for his little bunny heart to handle. What can he do if he has the cutest little boy in the whole world?! It’s clearly an unfair fight, there’s no way Izuku could win.
“Alright, we can have a little bit of ice cream-”
“Yay!” Izumi cheers, flapping his arms around in celebration.
“Just a small one!” Izuku continues, trying to be at least a little bit strict. “One scoop!”
“I want chocolate!”
“Didn’t you say you’d get strawberry?”
“But that’s only if it was dinner!” Izumi defends himself, making Izuku laugh.
“Excuse me! Mister! Your kit dropped this!”
A deep voice interrupts their little exchange and Izuku looks around confused, trying to find out if it was directed to him — and then he sees the wolf. Green eyes meet fiery red and Izuku feels all the air leave his lungs. In fact, however, he’s breathing quite right, a fact proved by the alpha’s scent that hits Izuku and almost makes him whimper. The alpha smells like cinnamon and spices, a mixture of spicy and sweet that Izuku instantly loves.
“My All Might!” Izumi exclaims, pulling Izuku out of his stupor.
“Th-thank you,” he stutters as the wolf hands the figurine to his son.
“Couldn’t let the little guy lose the coolest superhero of all,” the wolf says with a half-smile.
“Do you like All Might too?” Izumi asks, impressed.
“Sure do,” the wolf answers. “As I said, he’s the coolest.”
“Say thank you to the nice man, Izumi,” Izuku says, trying to not let the alpha’s scent make him too lax.
“Thank you, nice man!” Izumi parrots, making both adults laugh.
“You’re welcome, Izumi. And my name is Katsuki,” the wolf answers.
“Nice to meet you, Kachuski!” Izumi says happily — but as soon as he realizes he said the man’s name wrong, he tries again. “Kazuski? Katchichuski? Kaa-chu-”
Izuku and the wolf can’t help but laugh again. His son is just too adorable, even when he’s butchering the wolf’s name.
“Why don’t you try Kacchan? It’s how the extras used to call me when I was your age.”
“Nice to meet you, Kacchan!” Izumi tries and then exclaims happily. “Hey! I did it!”
“Yes, you did, little guy,” Katsuki smirks, then turns to Izuku. “And you’d be?”
“Izuku,” he answers, a blush going high on his cheeks. “Midoriya Izuku.”
“Nice to meet you, Izuku,” Katsuki says, offering a small head bow.
“Papa! Can Kacchan get ice cream with us?” Izumi asks and Izuku gets even more flustered.
“Oh, Izumi, I’m sure Mr. Katsuki has more important things to do than-”
“I’d love some ice cream,” Katsuki interrupts. “It’s not always that I get the chance to meet another All Might enthusiast. Today’s kids only care about Lemillion.”
“Yay! Ice cream! Ice cream!”
Accepting that he was outvoted, Izuku smiles at the young wolf and invites, “Then I guess it’s only fair for me to pay you ice cream for saving All Might from being lost.”
***
A couple of weeks ago, when his professor asked to talk to him about an assignment after class, Katsuki was terribly annoyed. He thought he’d lose his daily sighting of the bunny and his kit. But that turned out to be a blessing, for it gave Katsuki the perfect opportunity to actually talk to the bunny — and to learn that his name is Izuku.
Katsuki saw the bunny and his son leaving the park and was wondering if it was too stalkerish to find out which way they lived when everything happened. When he saw the little boy drop the All Might figurine as he waved his arms around in celebration of something, he didn’t think. Katsuki just picked up the toy and ran after the duo.
From up close, the bunny is even more beautiful. Katsuki was instantly enraptured by his green eyes and the constellation of freckles on his face. Honestly, he was lucky Izuku had his energetic little boy with him and that Izumi easily took control of the conversation. If it was just the two of them talking, Katsuki doesn’t know what kind of love-stricken stupidity could have come out of his mouth.
Somehow, he managed to eat ice cream with them without coming off as a creepy stalker — which opened the opportunity to talk to Izuku and Izumi on other days as well.
The first time Katsuki saw the duo after they officially met, he was unsure about how to act. But Izuku smiled brightly when he saw him and Izumi came running to tell him about what happened in his kindergarten that morning. It was like the dam and his son had already embraced him as a friend and Katsuki relished in it.
Now, every day when he leaves class, he doesn’t rush home — he rushes to the park to play around with his two favorite big-eared hybrids.
Though Katsuki developed a crush on Izuku at first sight, the little boy quickly grew on him. Izumi is sweet, sociable, and quite energetic. Izuku told him that they come to the park every day because they live in a small apartment and the little hare needs space to run. And Katsuki is more than happy to help the bunny out by tiring the little kit in a game of fetch; his canine instincts revel in the chance to chase toys around with the boy in the open field.
Today, however, the toy is forgotten when Izumi teases the wolf, “Kacchan can’t catch me! I’m too fastest for you!”
“Too fastest, yeah?” Katsuki laughs. “Let’s see you try to run away, bunny.”
“I’m not a bunny! I’m a hare!” the boy protests, running away as fast as his little legs allow him.
After that, their playtime becomes a game of catch instead of fetch. Katsuki pretends to struggle a little, but then he reaches the boy and raises him up over his head. “Let’s see you run now, little bunny!” he taunts playfully.
Izumi squeals and giggles, saying it’s against the rules to not let him touch the ground. And when he’s back down, it’s Katsuki’s time to ‘run away’ (though he certainly doesn’t use all his speed). They do this back and forth a few times until they end up rolling on the grass.
“And the big bad wolf is gonna eat the bunny!” Katsuki threatens, showing his fangs.
“I’m not a bunny!” Izumi argues, laughing, not even slightly afraid of the big alpha predator on top of him. “And All Might is going to save me!”
“All Might?! I’m not afraid of that dog! I’m a wolf! I’m stronger and scarier than any Labrador!” Katsuki argues back, snapping his jaws in the air in a biting motion.
“Then Papa is gonna save me! Papa!”
“Me? Let me think...,” Izuku’s voice sounds next to them, startling Katsuki who sits back.
“You gotta save me, Papa!” Izumi pleads, running up to his dam’s arms.
Izuku effortlessly picks up his boy, showing that the bunny has some muscles under his sweet exterior. “Oh, don’t you worry! You’re smelling so much of wolf that I think it’d be like biting his own tail for Kacchan!”
The bunny’s comment is made in good humor, but it dawns on Katsuki that he spent a good while rolling with the kit around. Izumi must really be stinking of him — something that no alpha sire would ever approve of. Katsuki could have put Izuku in a really bad position for when he goes back home today.
“Maybe this wolf is underfed and is in need of some food,” Izuku teases, taking Katsuki out of his stupor. “Why don’t you go buy us some popcorn?” He offers some money to Izumi, who quickly runs away towards the popcorn stand.
“I- I didn’t think- My scent- Maybe we could-” Katsuki awkwardly tries to explain himself as soon as Izumi is out of earshot.
“Oh, it’s alright!” Izuku dismisses, chuckling.
“But his sire-”
“Ah… Izumi’s sire isn’t really present,” the omega explains awkwardly. “He was just a boyfriend who decided he wasn’t ready for kits…”
“I’m sorry,” Katsuki says even if internally he’s celebrating. Izuku doesn’t have a mate! Maybe Katsuki has a shot!
“It’s alright,” Izuku says, shrugging. “I have a very flexible job as a journalist, so I can take care of us and still be present for him.”
“You’re truly kickass,” he whispers, making Izuku blush a pretty red and look away.
Just as Katsuki realizes that he said too much and gets ready to apologize, Izumi is back with the popcorn.
“I’m here with your food, hungry wolf! Now you can’t eat me!”
“Alright, this seems to be a fair trade,” Katsuki says playfully.
That day, Izuku was still red on his cheeks when he and his son went home — and Katsuki went back to his place to dream about making the cute bunny blush in different ways.
***
Izuku knows he shouldn’t be as happy as he is, but he can’t help it. His inner omega preens and swoons, occupying way too much of his head the whole day. But what can he do? He’s in love.
Against all odds, Izuku met an alpha who is handsome, charming, hard-working, and is great with his kit. It’s hard to say who adores Kacchan the most, him or Izumi.
The only problem is that Izuku can’t actually think of Katsuki as a mate prospect. The alpha is ten years younger! A college student! That’s totally inappropriate. Katsuki should be courting some omega in his university instead of wasting his time at the park with Izuku and Izumi.
Izuku feels terribly guilty for hoarding Katsuki’s attention for himself and Izumi. But when he tried bringing it up, carefully mentioning that the wolf probably had more interesting things to do with college friends than play around with them every day, Katsuki was quick to shut him down. “They’re just a bunch of idiots. I’d much rather prefer to be here than fucking around with them,” he had said.
Besides, Izumi gets so incredibly happy when Kacchan is around. The wolf has the energy and disposition to play around, running and rough-housing on the grass as the little hare loves to do. Izumi never had an alpha in his life, since his sire left before he was born. His little boy clearly was needing an alpha role-model if the way he instantly attached himself to the wolf is anything to go by.
Nonetheless, Izuku steels his heart for the day Kacchan will put distance between them. The young alpha is bound to eventually meet an omega that interests him and going around smelling as a kit (who invariably smells like Izuku) isn’t going to help Katsuki win any mates. Someday, their happy afternoons at the park will end and Izuku will need to be strong for him and Izumi, for this will hurt his pup just as much as it’ll hurt his inner omega.
That’s why he has been trying to keep things with Kacchan under some sort of control — like only seeing the wolf at the park and not letting him in any other part of their lives. Today, however, that’s proving to be quite difficult.
“YES! YES! YES!” Izumi screams in excitement as the smug alpha waves three movie tickets in his face. “I’M GOING TO SEE ALL MIGHT!”
“Only if you behave, eat your veggies and not give your papa a hard time, squirt,” Katsuki says, giving Izumi a playful nuggie.
“Stop it, Kacchan! I’ll be the bestest boy!” Izumi promises. “I’ll eat all the yucky carrots!”
“I’ve never heard of a baby bunny who doesn’t like carrots,” Katsuki laughs.
“I’m not a baby! And I’m not a bunny!” the little boy protests.
“Look, Izumi, that raccoon friend of yours is here. Why don’t you go greet her?” Izuku says, trying to get some privacy with Katsuki.
“Alright!” Izumi agrees, and runs away screaming, “HI, HOTARU!”
Once the two adults are alone, Izuku sighs, “Katsuki… You shouldn’t have… These premiere tickets cost a fortune.”
The wolf just shrugs, “I always go on my own. It’d be nice to have company for a change.”
“Then you should have invited your friends from college ”
“Those fuckers wouldn’t be even half as excited as the little squirt is,” Katsuki retorts.
“Still, you should spend time with people your age for a change… It’s not good for you to waste all your time with an old omega and his kit,” Izuku says, not being able to contain the sadness in his voice.
Katsuki isn’t having any of it, though. He huffs indignantly, “You’re not old. And I love spending time with the squirt.”
Izuku sighs again, “Katsuki… You know what I mean… You’re approaching mating age… You won’t find a nice omega if you’re hanging around me and Izumi all the time.”
“And so what?” Katsuki snaps, a deep frown on his forehead. “Besides, you’re one to tell me that! You spend your mornings working alone at home and your afternoons here with me as well!”
“It’s completely different,” Izuku huffs. “I’m not going to mate with anyone.”
“And why the fuck is that?”
“Obviously, I’m too old and I have a kit. No alpha would-”
“Any alpha who doesn’t think you’re gorgeous and that Izumi is amazing is a worthless extra,” Katsuki interrupts him with an irrevocable quality in his voice.
“Kacchan! Kacchan!” Izumi comes running, snapping them out of their staring match. “Show Hotaru the ‘flying bunny’!” the little boy asks, alluding to their little game where Katsuki raises him above his head.
“In a second, squirt,” Katsuki promises, without taking his eyes from Izuku’s face. “First, answer me something. Don’t you think your Papa is the best omega there is?”
“Of course!” Izumi says proudly. “Papa is the most prettiest and the kindest and he gives the best cuddles!”
Izuku is torn between wanting to kiss his son and wanting to hide away from the wolf’s fiery eyes, which seem to see straight into his soul.
“That’s what I thought. And don’t you think the best omega deserves the best alpha?”
This time, Izuku almost chokes in his own spit. Where is Katsuki going with all this?
Unlike the last question, for this one, Izumi takes a second to respond. He tilts his head cutely, thinking about his answer before saying, “I think so? I don’t know if Papa needs an alpha but if he does, it needs to be the bestest.”
Katsuki nods and continues, “And who is the best alpha you know?”
For this question, Izumi doesn’t need to think twice. “Kacchan!”, he exclaims happily.
With a smug smirk on his face, Katsuki gives his final statement to Izuku. “There you have it, bunny. The little squirt knows what’s up more than you. So stop fighting and accept our date this Thursday. I’ll pick you two up for the movie at 6. Now, I have to go make some kits fly.”
And with that, he gets up and goes play with Izumi and his raccoon friend, leaving Izuku behind as a complete flustered mess.
***
Thursday finds Izuku as a total mess. He’s way too flustered by the idea of going on a date with Katsuki — even if the date is to watch a superhero movie with his three-year-old son. Izuku has been dropping things and slamming on furniture since the wolf said that outing would be a date.
Who would have thought that Izuku, an old single-parent omega, would ever catch the eye of a young, handsome alpha like Katsuki?! It seems like something out of a romance novel.
And yet, the alpha shows it’s all real when he arrives to pick them up carrying a flower bouquet to Izuku and a bag of candies for Izumi.
“Good evening. You look good,” Katsuki praises him, making Izuku unconsciously fix the red silk shirt he’s wearing. “These are for you,” he offers the flower bouquet.
Izuku could barely find anything that could pass as date clothes in his wardrobe since he hasn’t thought about going out with someone since he got pregnant with Izumi. Talking about Izumi, his little boy really is his salvation — as Izuku tries to find something to say to Katsuki, his son takes control of the conversation.
“Hi, Kacchan! Look what Papa gave me!” Izumi says, showing the All Might onesie that Izuku bought him for the premiere.
“Hey, squirt,” Katsuki smiles at the boy. “Looking badass like All Might. Here, I brought you these,” he hands the candy bag to Izumi. “Are you two ready to go?”
“YES! LET’S GO SEE ALL MIGHT!” Izumi celebrates, grabbing Izuku’s and Katsuki’s hands to force them to go faster to the cinema.
On their way to the movie, Izuku mentally thanks his son several times. Though it may sound weird to go on a date and bring his son with him, Izumi makes for a great ice-breaker. The little boy forces them to go over the traditional first-date-awkwardness straight into the easy-going interactions that they share every day at the park.
The three of them being huge All Might fans guarantees that they all enjoy the movie immensely. Before the screening, they are excited for what was about to come; and after, all they can talk about is how incredible it was. Their excited debate goes all through dinner, Katsuki takes them to get burgers and Izuku honestly thinks the date couldn’t be more perfect.
“And then, All Might went and voosh! All the way to Tokyo Tower!” Izumi recounts the movie between bites of his burger as if the two adults weren’t there with him at the cinema.
“Careful,” Izuku warns him as his little warms wave around too close to their drinks.
“Papa, can we go to the Tokyo Tower like All Might?”
“I’m not sure we can fly there like All Might, but we can take the elevator like the other visitors,” Izuku says, chuckling.
“We can go next weekend,” Katsuki says, taking Izuku by surprise. “Make a whole day out of it so the baby bunny can get to know Tokyo.”
Though Izuku’s rational side tells him it’s too soon to be talking about a second date, he can’t help but blush and nod his agreement. This date is going way too well for him to even think about not going out with the wolf again.
Sure, it was a very unusual date — but it was a date perfectly crafted for him and Izumi. Katsuki did his best to make sure he and his son had a great time and were comfortable through the whole thing. It’s hard for Izuku to keep his dooms-day mentality about having Katsuki in their life when the alpha is clearly working so hard to make them happy.
His inner omega spent the whole night whispering in his ear about how the alpha is good to him, how well he takes care of Izumi, how he likes All Might as well, and how he’ll make a perfect addition to their little family. And Katsuki seems to feed into it by releasing comforting pheromones during their date to show how interested he is in being a part of that family.
Keeping with the night’s theme, Katsuki walks them home like a proper gentleman. When they get to the door, Izuku takes charge of the situation for a change; he was done with being wrangled into things by his son and the wolf.
“Izumi, go to your bedroom to change into your pj’s and pick a book for us to read before bed,” he gently orders his son.
“Alright!” Izumi answers, already running excitedly to his room.
“And now you…” Izuku turns to look at Katsuki. “You really worked hard to make us have a good time today, didn’t you?”
“I never half-ass shit,” the alpha answers seriously. “And I knew I wanted to take you on a date since the first time I saw you.”
Izuku takes a closer step, basking in the way Katsuki’s scent goes from comforting to alluring as they find themselves with a small semblance of privacy. He looks up to meet the alpha’s eyes and sees the way those red ambers seem to be burning with barely-restrained need.
“We had a wonderful night,” Izuku whispers. “I reckon you deserve a prize for being such a good alpha.”
“Do I?” Katsuki croons at him, tilting his head to better smell the pheromones Izuku knows he’s pumping out.
“Yes,” he says under his breath before closing the short distance to plant a kiss on the alpha’s lips.
The kiss stays gentle and chaste for barely a second before the wolf shows that he’s truly a predator by devouring his mouth. Katsuki's hands sink into his ass, pulling Izuku impossibly close. The scent around them turns thick with arousal, which makes Izuku heady.
When they separate, they’re both panting and needy.
“So I get this means I’ll get more dates,” Katsuki smirks.
“Yes… And we’ll have to find a babysitter,” Izuku smiles back.
They dive in for another kiss, too excited about each other to stop — this one, however, is cut short.
“Papa! I have my book ready!” Izumi’s voice sounds from inside the apartment. “And I can’t reach the sink to brush my teeth!”
With mirroring smiles, they put some distance between them.
“I need to go,” Izuku says. “See you soon?”
“Yes,” Katsuki answers. “I’ll start looking for a babysitter. I know an armadillo with a stupid red hair who will love playing with Izumi.”
