Imagine the other 6 members developing a love for tangerines because of Yoongi. They would come home from a day’s worth of rehearsals and Yoongi would immediately head straight to the kitchen and grab a tangerine from their fruit basket. He would quickly peel one and eat it while walking towards his room. Or it would be the group’s movie night and instead of the usual popcorn and sweets, Yoongi would have a bowl of tangerines by his side, peeling and munching the whole time.
Because of this, his fingers would usually smell of tangerines and Jungkook, being the curious maknae he is, would often spend some of his free time pestering his second eldest hyung, inspecting—and sometimes sniffing—his hyung’s fingers.
“Hyung you eat so much tangerine, your fingers smell like them all the time. Even if you just showered, your fingers still carry a faint hint of tangerine.” The youngest would usually say. Yoongi would just look at him, eyebrows slightly raised, “And is that a bad thing?” He would ask him. The younger is quick to appease his hyung though and would immediately say, “Of course not hyung! After all, it’s what makes you, you. And we wouldn’t have you any other way!” And he would hug his hyung tightly while Yoongi fights the fond smile in his face and pretends that there’s no blush spreading in his cheeks.
The youngest would also be the first one to jump onboard the tangerine lovers ship. Everytime he goes to the elder’s studio he would often see Yoongi eat tangerines deliciously and it would work up his appetite, making him crave for those juicy citrus fruits. He would meekly approach his hyung, staring at him expectantly with those big, doe eyes. Yoongi would look at him for a moment, then shrug and gesture at the bowl of tangerines in front of him; wordlessly giving Jungkook the permission to get a piece and eat. Jungkook would excitedly grab a piece, peel it and munch happily beside his hyung. He often stays at his hyung’s studio at the pretense of missing him, but really, it’s the tangerines he looks forward to. Don’t tell his Yoongi hyung though.
Next would be Hoseok. Tangerines are a staple whenever he and Yoongi would go out on their weekly picnic dates (once, Yoongi sulked the entire time because they forgot to pack some tangerines on the picnic basket). After eating, the two would usually lounge around the blanket, with Yoongi laying his head on Hoseok’s lap. He would peel the tangerines they’re bringing and eat them, feeding Hoseok some, which the younger always accepts (Hoseok will always accept anything from his Yoongi hyung). Now whenever they go out, Hoseok remembers to always pack the tangerines first for his Yoongi hyung (and maybe secretly for himself too).
Namjoon would usually stay for long periods of time inside the Genius Lab, working on some of the songs with Yoongi. Sometimes they would work 12 hours straight, entirely forgetting the outside world that exists around them, living off of Yoongi’s seemingly endless supply of tangerines (each time Namjoon comes to Yoongi’s studio, he always sees Yoongi’s tangerine bowl full, even if Namjoon remembers the both of them completely depleting all of Yoongi’s tangerines the night before). Now even if Namjoon’s on his own studio, it seems like he needs a tangerine to munch on to help the flow of his creative thought process. Don’t tell anyone but he now has a stash of tangerines hidden in the drawer of his desk.
Seokjin has been Yoongi’s roommate for years. He’s witnessed firsthand his dongsaeng’s immense love for tangerines. He would often find the younger chomping on them whenever he’s in their room. Seokjin honestly never really found the appeal of the fruits; he prefers the sweet taste of strawberries over tangerines but he wasn’t judging Yoongi for his tastes. Sometimes he would even indulge the younger; during his scheduled movie nights with the younger, he would bring tangerines because he knows that Yoongi prefers them over popcorn. He would usually peel them for the younger and sometimes pop a piece or two in his own mouth (the next thing he knew, he was popping more and more pieces of the tangerine in his mouth; seems like his taste buds finally liked the tangy taste of the tangerines).
Taehyung is especially fond of his Yoongi hyung. He would usually trail him like a little puppy. Wherever Yoongi hyung goes, he goes. It might be because the older has the cutest dumpling cheeks. Or because his little teefies are the prettiest whenever he smiles his signature gummy smile. Whatever it is, there’s this force that pulls him to his hyung. That’s one of the reasons why he’ll just have this sudden urge to pick Yoongi up and hug him tightly at any given time. He also finds his hyung cool, he wants to be like him: always calm and unbothered; Yoongi’s talents and hobbies piques the younger’s interest. It’s also one of the main reasons why he likes tangerines so much. Simply because his hyung likes it too. Plain and simple.
Jimin often visits his Yoongi hyung during their free time. He knows that the older’s shoulder surgery finished a few days ago and that he won’t be able to move his arm around for a few weeks; meaning, he won’t be able to peel and eat tangerines. Which is why he appointed himself to be Yoongi’s personal tangerine peeler. He would wake up early and leave peeled tangerines on the bedside table for his hyung when he wants to eat some; after practice Jimin would go straight to Yoongi’s room with a bag of tangerines and would stay there for hours, talking to the older and feeding him tangerines. Jimin absolutely likes sour food, so it is only natural that he gets pulled into the ship after only a week of feeding Yoongi tangerines. What used to be tangerine peeling time for Jimin turned into tangerine peeling and feeding time.
