You're not the third wheel! Were a tricycle, not a bicycle!

Summary:

Ranboo loved Tubbo, and Tubbo loved Ranboo. Platonically of course.

Tubbo and Ranboo also loved Tommy. But Tommy didn't feel as loved, feeling like he was the third wheel to their relationship. He wasn't as loved, feeling left behind when he died in prison.

That wouldn't do.

Besides, Tubbo and Ranboo had enough love in their relationship to add a third.

Tommy already had the Michael approval, after all!

Chapter 1: You Want To Marry Who Now?

Chapter Text

“That one looks like Technoblade! Haha!” Tubbo laughed as he looked up and pointed at the strangely pig-shaped cloud.

Ranboo laughed. This was nice, having time just for the two of them to relax. That was a very, very thing to get on this server.

“Oh! And that one is a bee!” Ranboo laughed at his husband's excitement. Well, almost-husband. Technically they were only finances because they haven't been 'officially' wed yet, but they didn't care about the technicalities.

Ranboo felt a weight on his shoulder where Tubbo had leaned against him as he continued cloud watching. Ranboo was really happy that Tommy agreed to babysit Michele so he and Tubbo could hang out a bit. Tommy acted all grumpy and Pissed off when they asked him to watch Michael, But Ranboo thought he was secretly happy to spend more time with the young zombie pigglin. It was nice to see Tommy happy and excited over things. It felt like there was a very rare chance for Tommy to get the chance to just relax and be happy.

Even after leaving the prison, even after everything he's been through, things still continued to go wrong in his life.

Sam and Tommy have been having issues. Sam felt horrible about what happened with the prison and constantly tried to make it up and apologize to Tommy, while Tommy just wanted to put it behind him.

Jack had taken Tommy's hotel. Ranboo didn't know how with Sam Nook always guarding it, or well, he used to. He hadn't seen Sam Nook there in quite a while. No one has. He thinks he heard someone talking about turning the robot off but that was a while ago and he can't remember who said it.

Tommy's also been having issues sleeping, Ranboo's noticed. Tommy rarely stayed the night in his own house anymore, and when he did no one would see him for several days and he would always look tired and stressed once he left. Other than that he took turns staying the night with Tubbo and ranboo and with Sam or puffy.

Ranboo worried about Tommy. He was one of His first friends on the server, not to mention the youngest. (Other than Michle.) He just wanted one of his best friends to be happy. He loved Tommy after all, they were friends. And he was sure Tubbo loved Tommy very much too. Platonically of course.

That gave Ranboo an idea.

“-re you listening to me, Boo?”

Ranboo jumped slightly, looking down at his husband. “Oh! No, sorry!” Ranboo rubbed the back of his neck. “I was thinking, sorry Bee.”

“I didn't know you could think.” Ranboo gasped in fake offense as Tubbo laughed.

“I think this calls for our third divorce,”

“No!” Tubbo reached as he laughed, leaning onto Ranboo, “Please don't leave me!”

Ranboo and Tubbo laughed a bit before calming down and just relaxing with each other. “What were you thinking about?” Tubbo eventually askes.

Ranboo shrugged, “You love me, right?” He askes, “Like, platonically?”

“Duh,” Tubbo replied.

“And you love Tommy, to right? Platonically obviously.” Ranboo askes,

Tubbo nodded, “Obviously.”

“Who do you love more?” Tubbo gave him a shocked look. Rambo was quiet for a moment, confused on why tubbo was looking at him like that before he realized how bad that sounded. “Wait it's not like that- I worried that wrong I swear!” He sputtered, “I swear, that sounded a lot worse than it was meant to sound! Sorry!-”

Tubbo grabbed Ranboos hand softly, cutting off Ranboo from his rambling. “Calm down, Ranboo.” Tubbo said, “I love both of you equally.” He answered. “I know I've known Tommy longer, but you both mean so much to me and I love you both very much so.” Tubo held his hands and looked up at Ranboo, being careful not to hold eye contact.

Ranboo flushed. Tubbo was always much better with words than him, and tended to, more often than not, leaving him floundering like a fish. “Th-that's good- er- great I mean!” He sputtered. “That's perfect even! Because I care about Tommy a lot too and that gave me an idea! And well if you love him the same as you love me and were married, platonically duh, and we both love him platonically then it only makes sense to-” He sputtered to a pause, trying to figure out how to word this. “I-I mean it only makes sense-”

“Do you want to marry Tommyinnit?” Tubbo asked.

Ranboo sputtered, “Platonicly! PLatonicly!” Tubbo laughed, “It makes sense!” Ranboo defended, “You love Tommy as much as you love me! And we're married! I also like Tommy a lot!” Tubbo laughed harder, “It makes sense!” Tubbo leaned onto Ranboos shoulder as he wiped away a few laugh tears. “Don't make fun of me!”

Tubbo wheezed, “I'm not! I'm not!” he laughed. “I just wasn't expecting that! Honest!” He said. He took a few breaths to calm himself down so they could talk seriously. “So why did you want to marry Tommy with us?” He asked, “I'm not saying no,” He quickly added, “I love Tommy I really do, I'm just curious.”

“Well,” Ranboo started, “I feel like Tommy doesn't think we love him.”

Tubbo looked surprised, “Really?”

Ranboo nodded, “Yeah. And as bad as it is, I can see why he thinks that. He was stuck in prison, a prison that he died in, and when he got out one of the first things that he larn was that two of his close friends got married and now live together with a child.” He sighed, “I don't know how id feel if that happened to me but I know I definitely wouldn't feel ok after that.”

“And I don't want to marry him out of pity or because I feel bad for him or something stupid like that. I truly do care about Tommy. But it sort of feels unfair in a way. We both love him the same but leaving him out of this just feels wrong.” He explained, “He deserves to be shown as much love as we show each other.”

Tubbo looked down at the grass below them and plucked a few handfuls absentmindedly, “... Boo?...” Ranboo looked down at his platonic partner, “Have I been a bad friend?” He asked.

“What do you mean?”

Tubbo sighed, “Tommys been suffering, for a while now. And I haven't been there for him. I went off and got married and had a kid. I love you and Michael dearly but i-” HE tried to discreetly wipe the wetness from his eyes, “I've been a shit friend, haven't I?”

Ranboo sighed, wiping away Tubbo's tears and ignoring the small burn he felt in contact with the tears. “No. Sure you've made some mistakes, but everyone does that. And it's not like you could have seen into the future.”

“But I've messed up so badly” Tubbo insists, “If Tommy actually believes that I don't care about him then I've fucked up so badly…”

Ranboo moved Tubbo closer, encasing him in a hug. “It's ok. Well just have to show him how much we love him.”

Tubbo nodded into the hug. “Well smother him with so much love and affection that it kills him.” Ranboo laughed.

“Do you think Tommy will want to marry us?” Ranboo asked. “Like, do you think hell be down for a platonic wedding?”

“I bet you 5 Netherite I can get that fucker into a wedding dress.”

Ranboo wheezed and choked on his own laughter.
