Work Text:
After yet another failed attempt at getting his runner to wake Nixon up Dick went to go try himself. He came into the room, going over to the window and opening the curtains to let some light in and he opened the window to air out the room, because it smelled of alcohol, and faintly of piss.
“Lew? Wake up.” Dick said as he went over to the bed. “They want us back at Regiment.” He tugged on the curtain in front of the bed opening it “Come on Nix, get up. Let's go.”
He was beginning to think he should’ve woken Lewis up when he got up earlier, but it was better for appearances sake if they didn’t come out of the house together. Even though they were staying in the same house and it wouldn’t be all that strange if they did. They had a tendency, or Dick rather, had a tendency to be overly cautious in regards to their relationship. They wouldn’t want to raise any suspicions. Maybe he could convince him to get up with a little incentive if they had the time, but they didn’t. Otherwise Dick would gladly make it worth his while to wake up. It seemed to be the best tactic he discovered thus far at getting Lew up and keeping him awake.
“Come on, somethings up. Strayer’s orders.”
“Okay, go ahead I’ll be right down.” Nix groaned, he had no intention of getting up. He only said that to get Dick to leave him be, but knowing his boyfriend he wouldn’t be doing that. He didn’t give up that easily, which is one of his many redeeming qualities, in every other situation besides this one. Right now he found his persistence a tad irritating.
“Let’s go c’mon, you got ten minutes.” Dick replied, looking at his watch. They really had closer to twenty minutes, but Dick liked to be early and seriously hated being late. Ever since that incident during training. He was never late again.
“Go away.”
Dick sighed, exasperated, taking off his boots he climbed into bed with Nix; he wrapped his arms around him pulling Lewis close against his chest.
“C’mon, Lew.”
“Five more minutes.” Nixon muttered. Dick kissed his forehead and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. He figured he better go with the tried and true method for waking Lew up, kissing him.
“C’mon sleeping beauty.” Dick said “Get up.”
“You’re definitely Prince Charming.” Nix chuckled
“Yeah, right.”
“Okay, we can make out if you want.”
“No, no we don’t have time.”
Lewis sat up suddenly, straddling Dick and kissing him, deeply. Dick could taste the lingering remnants alcohol in his mouth. He let the kiss go on longer than he probably should have, before he lightly pushed Nix away. He was still straddling his lap and had a slightly unamused expression on his face or maybe it was more disappointed.
“I’m glad you’re finally awake, and I appreciate the enthusiasm, but we don’t have time for this.” Dick told him, softly smiling at him.
“I don’t like you at all.” Nix groaned, running his fingers through his hair, dejected.
“That’s not very nice even though I don’t believe it for a second.”
“Yeah, you know I love you, and your...perfect everything.”
“I love you too.” Dick responded, chuckling lightly. “I’m afraid flattery isn’t going to get you anywhere we really do have to get going. C’mon get up.”
“It’s too early to be awake, let alone do anything.”
“You were ready to do something a minute ago.”
“That’s different. It’s never too early for you.”
Nix climbed off of Dick’s lap, out of the bed, started to gather his clothes, and get dressed. Dick sat up noticing a vase on the shelf with a yellow liquid in it. That’s where the smell of pee was coming from.
“I should’ve just poured this on you to wake you up.”
“Oh, no, don’t even joke, that’s piss.” Nix replied, now dressed and ready to go to regiment. He needed some coffee though he’d prefer to just go back to sleep. “I should pour it on you for bothering me.”
Dick stood up, going over to Lewis. “I might break up with you if you did that. So, Is this the kind of thing you did in college?”
“Yeah, actually and you’d never break up with me.”
Dick shook his head, disapproving. Nix grabbed a pillow off the bed and smacked Dick in the chest with it, laughing. Dick snatched the pillow from him hitting Lewis in the side. Nix took it back tossing it back on the bed. He grabbed Dick by the waist pulling him into a kiss. He wrapped his arms around Lewis’ neck leaning into the kiss.
“We really do need to go.” Dick reiterated resting his forehead against Nix’s.
“I know, you’ve only said it about a hundred times, dear.” Nix replied, giving Dick another quick kiss before they left the room and headed off to regiment.
