Work Text:
Dream was walking to school in the rain. He would normally drive to school but his brother was at a friends house for a sleepover, leaving Dream with the opportunity to walk. He knew either of his moms would have taken him if he asked but he had overheard them talking about how busy they were all week, and he didn’t mind walking.
He decided to enjoy this time of peace knowing that school would probably be as hectic as always. His friends seemed to be set on causing as much chaos as possible, Dream had given up trying to stop them. He enjoyed school but he would be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to Halloween break next week.
The walk to school wasn’t too long but when he got there Sapnap and Karl were his only other friends there. He rolled his eyes when he saw them and decided to wait for someone else to arrive. He didn’t feel like being a third wheel.
Soon enough a car pulled into the car park, bringing a herd of chaos with it. His brother was first out of the car, closely followed by Tommy and the two took off to god knows where. Next out of the car was a lanky, musician grumbling about being stuck next to Tommy on the journey. He sulked off, most likely to find Schlatt or Quackity.
Last out of the car was a pink haired, self proclaimed anarchist. Dream grinned, making his way over to the man. “Hey Techno,” he called. Hearing his name Techno looked up, grinning when he saw the blond and waved at him. Dream saw him say something to his father, Phil before slamming the car door shut and walking over to Dream.
The two made their way inside, Dream laughing as Techno complained about Tommy and Tubbo.
“It’s not funny,” he grumbled. “Tommy is a pain in the ass and your brother just makes him worse.”
Dream nodded. “Tommy suggest they do something stupid and then Tubbo makes it stupider,” he snorted.
Techno laughed, “Very true. It’s both of them.”
Dream followed Techno to his locker chatting his ear off about something or the other. Techno listened to his persistent chatter adding his own input here and there.
Soon Sapnap arrived, followed by George and the three headed off to class. Dream waving at Techno as they left. Classes were as boring as they always were and Dream paid little attention to the teachers.

The two made their way over to Phil’s car. Techno knocked on his window, opening the back door and throwing his gear bag inside. He turned to Phil, “I’m going to Dream’s house with him, can you pick me up when you drop Tubbo home later?”
“No problem mate,” Phil smiled.
Techno thanked him before he and Dream made their way out of the school gates. It was a 30 minute walk to Dream’s house and the two chatted about their day as they went. They passed several students they knew, stopping to chat to them or waving to them as they passed. Niki and Eret had even walked with them for a while before splitting off to head to their house’s.
The two turned down another street and they were finally alone. Techno reached for Dream’s hand intertwining their fingers and practically pulling him down the street. They arrived at Dream’s house and Dream laughed quietly, pulling Techno close to him and wrapping his arms around him. Techno returned the embrace. They stayed like that, enjoying each other's company, swaying gently before Techno decided it was too cold.
“Come on,” he complained when Dream wouldn’t let go of him. “You can be clingy inside.”
The two entered the house and headed straight upstairs to Dream’s room. Dream’s father was away on a business trip leaving the perfect opportunity for Techno to come over. Dream flopped down onto his bed dramatically. He flipped onto his back and started to make graby hands at Techno.
Techno laughed and lid next to him, curling up into his side. Dream wrapped his arms around Techno’s waist. “How was your day?” he asked.
Techno immediately started to recount his day, ranting about the ridiculous amount of homework he had. He was telling Dream about Wilbur walking into a door when his phone vibrated. He pulled it out of his pocket, sighing when he saw the calendar notification reminding him to touch up his hair dye.
Dream glanced at the notification. “I have a little dye left from last time we did your hair, we can just do your roots for now. It should last a little while.”
They had discovered Dream had a knack for hair when Techno first dyed his hair pink two years ago. He had rang Dream in panic when it had turned out streaky and Dream had immediately walked to his house. They had snuck him in the window and Dream had raided the bathroom press. He had added a couple of products to his hair and recommended to buy a colour-friendly shampoo and conditioner. His hair had turned out really well, looking like it was done in a salon.
Dream only knew a basic plait and started learning more complex braids to try on Techno’s hair. While Techno had learned to braid his own hair, he still got Dream to do it if possible. Dream’s braid always seems to stay in his hair longer.
“That would be great.”
The two relocated to the bathroom and Dream got to work on Techno’s hair. Techno felt himself relax under Dream’s careful administrations. When he had finished Techno’s hair and wrapped it in a towel to let it dry, the two attempted to do some homework.
Both boys were currently in the top ten of the year, and they wanted to keep it that way. However they kept on purposely distracting each other and getting lost in conversation. Eventually Dream decided he had enough, it was dinner time by now and he decided to make some pasta. He dragged Techno down to the kitchen.
Techno watched Dream scurry around the kitchen, pulling out everything he needed. The two made their pasta, laughing and enjoying each other's company. They didn’t get to hangout at each other's homes often, normally choosing to go out somewhere to avoid being caught by their parents.
They had been dating a while but neither boy had come out to their family yet and so they had decided to keep their relationship a secret until they were ready. They didn’t mind though, in fact they enjoyed the privacy they had. Both Techno and Dream could already imagine the amount of teasing they were going to receive when they did tell everyone.
The two sat across from each other while eating their pasta. They had been ignoring the constant dinging of the groupchat all afternoon and when they sat down at the table Dream finally caved and checked it. His eyes widened when he saw the amount of messages but after opening the chat he just put his phone down. Techno raised an eyebrow.
“It’s literally just Tommy and Tubbo begging Purpled and Ranboo for the homework answers,” he snorted.
Techno laughed, “You shouldn’t be surprised. We both know that Tommy never does his homework.”
“Yes,” Dream agreed. “But Tubbo is normally good at doing his. He sometimes needs me to read out the question for him but otherwise he does it himself. He’s a lot smarter than he lets on.”
Techno hummed. The two continued to give out about their siblings' antics, laughing at Tommy’s desperate attempts to get the homework off of somebody.
A little while later Dream's hands were gently sifting through his hair, carefully brushing the knots out. He was sitting on the floor in front of Dream, the younger boy carefully braiding his hair from his place on the couch. He had just finished tying the braid when Tubbo burst through the door. The two lurched away from each other and Techno went to get his bag.
Dream followed him upstairs, quietly excusing himself from Tubbo’s presence. He walked into his room, where Techno was standing packing his bag. Dream wrapped his arms around Techno’s waist, hugging him from behind. Techno laughed quietly, zipping his bag shut before turning in Dream’s arm to face the blonde.
“Text me when you get home,” Dream whispered quietly.
“Phil is literally driving me home today. Nothing will happen,” Techno chuckled.
“I-, still, just-, text me, ya?” Dream mumbled.
Techno softened at the worried tone in Dream’s voice. “I promise.”
Dream smiled softly, tilting Techno’s head up and closing the small gap between them. Techno melted into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Dream’s waist. Dream’s hand was warm against his cheek and pulled him closer pressing against him. After a couple of minutes Techno pulled away.
“I don’t want to keep Phil waiting,” he whispered. He threw his bag over his shoulder and left his room.
Dream took a deep breath still slightly lost in thought. He slowly exhaled, Techno would be the death of him.
He headed downstairs to where Tubbo was curled up on the couch watching Tv. The two chatted for a while as they watched a random show.
“Did you and Tommy get the homework answers?” Dream questioned.
Tubbo giggled quietly. “No.”
Dream raised an eyebrow, “Why are you laughing?”
“I did that homework yesterday,” he admitted.
Dream snorted, “And you didn’t give it to him.”
“He didn’t ask,” Tubbo smirked.
