House to Half

Summary:

And, yet, fighting against those odds with the same determination he’d fought his whole life, he has made it. He is now rubbing shoulders with the top actors, directors, artists, playwrights of his generation, networking to try and ensure he maintains his place in this ephemeral, fickle world.

And he hates them.

***

Jihoon is a successful playwright, living and working in the big city. But he's fallen out of love with his craft. Luckily for him, a chance encounter in a bathroom might just be the thing he needs to set him on the right path again.

Notes:

My song was Blinding Lights by The Weeknd! I don't know how this idea came about from that song, but something about the MV and the lyrics just made me think of stage lighting and the idea kind of grew from there!
It's been a love/hate relationship with this fic, but I'm just proud to have finished it!
I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Intro

Chapter Text

Jihoon has this reoccurring dream.

Or maybe it would be more appropriate to call it a nightmare.

But, either way, in it he’s stood on an empty stage, completely alone. The theatre is silent around him. He feels on edge, but he isn’t sure why.

As he steps forward to call into the auditorium, a spotlight focuses on him, its beam pinning him down under its strength.

As he tries to retreat backwards, another light shoots down at him, sending him onto his knees.

His ears ring with the force of the glare, his retinas burning even with his hands pressed into his eye sockets.

Somewhere in the auditorium, a high, cold laugh echoes.

Jihoon opens his eyes in search of whoever is laughing.

But the lights render him blind.
