Work Text:

Seokmin met Jisoo when he was monitoring the earth. In the sunny afternoon, the sky has already changed the colors into red with a pinkish yellow tinge. He felt the cold breeze touched his skin. Back in those days, winter is coming and even though he is the sun, it doesn’t mean Seokmin couldn’t feel cold.

Jisoo was standing behind him. About two hundred kilometers apart. Looking so perfect with his pale skin and silver mullet hair. His hairstyle that day was totally perfect because his forehead was showing and it made him more and more breathtaking.

When Seokmin was created, he was told by the universe that the sun couldn’t feel love. Any sparks that usually come from a person who stole our heart or caught our sight, he could never. It should be, but then he met Jisoo. Everything is changed.

It is so strange to know that now his heart is beating so fast for ‘somebody’ he only met once. No, not once. They met for more than a thousand years and Seokmin is too stupid to realize that there is a figure who is very beautiful like Jisoo. His heart can’t stop beating loud and louder. It feels like it would explode sometime and the scariest thing is now he also can’t feel the air. Oh no, I can’t breathe! Jisoo really made my lungs full of butterflies! Seokmin muttered.

And from that moment, Seokmin is very sure he felt something that he never felt before. Love. He experienced love. Towards Jisoo.

The night came really fast. Just like what Seokmin wished today. The moon was washed by the light of the stars. Glows very bright and reflects whoever creatures in the earth who were sitting or standing under the moonlight. So beautiful. Humans are always mesmerized by the earth satellite.

So as Seokmin. The sun. The center of the solar system. The brightest light everyone knows. Are truly, madly, deeply falling in love with the night’s sun. And for tonight, Seokmin can’t hold it anymore.

His working time is over. He usually goes straight to rest as soon as the sky color is changed. But well, maybe he made an exception for today.

Seokmin walked behind the moon. Without speaking or humming that he often did whenever it is. Seokmin didn’t want to be a coward, or the other word is the one who only waiting for the right time to talk to their crush. Speak of the devil, the person that he was talking about is himself. He is the coward.

“Why do you keep staring at me like that?” Luckily, Seokmin never forget to keep their distance. But still, he had to stop his step because Jisoo suddenly turning gaze to him. “Even if you walked behind me, I can feel your eyes don’t stop scan my back for the whole time.”

“I-I didn’t mean t-that…” He stuttered, trying to calm his body and breathe regularly. As fast as his heartbeat right now, Seokmin lowered his head, then saying something in a very small voice. “I’m sorry.”

He played with his fingers, waiting for an answer from Jisoo who doesn’t seem to care with his apology. When he heard Jisoo’s footsteps away, Seokmin sighed, then started to cover his face with his hands. Felt embarrassed.

Seokmin was very sure that wasn’t the first time they talked to each other. There was a time…. but he couldn’t remember it. Could he? He didn’t think so. Because in the past, he had never given any attention to other creatures.

Maybe Seokmin should be grateful to the universe who brought them together. Working side to side even though the time is different is still a blessing to him.

“I should sleep right now,” he said while punching the air. Now, he is lying on his bed, remembering Jisoo’s pretty back which he had been watching for almost several minutes before the owner realized. “But why can’t I closed my eyes?!”

He kept turning his body left and right, with the intention to be sleepy faster. “That man is really taking up a lot of space in my brain. Mind full of Jisoo. I’m going crazy…..” He yawned, then fell asleep immediately.

Morning comes and the sun didn’t want to get up from his bed. The alarm that he set every day in order to help him wake up on time has he turned off. He groaned, as the bunch of kids—stars, came up noisily and greeted him with showing those ugly teeth.

“Good morning sun! You better hurry up and wash your body! Really! It smells like shit!”

Seokmin rolled his eyes, started to chase one of them. This is should be a sad story. They were never taught manners to the elders, so it’s not shocking if any bad words come from their mouths.

“Oh shut the fuck up kiddos!” But yeah, what did you expect from him? Giving them punishment since they said bad words? Don’t guess so.

The kids cry out happily. They were running and hiding all over the corridor, wanted the sun to join their hide and seek game.

It was nice to play with these kids. But it also made Seokmin forgot to get down to his work. Light up the world.

“Where the fuck is the sun? Is he really forgot about his job?” A not so tall but handsome as hell man crossed his arms. Making an unpleasant face while tapping his foot on the floor.

“Be easy on him, soo. It is not that he always comes late to work. Maybe he is busy with something.”

“And let the world off? This is not something you could bargain, Wen.” The man named Jisoo rolled his eyes. “I’ll be back after teaching him some lessons.”

The other man laughed. “You will regret this, Hong.”

Jisoo didn’t heed the words. He walked closer to the noisy voice, can’t wait to surprise the perpetrator with his action. One step again, but Jisoo refused to go on. His eyes are open wide, as the troublemaker turned his head to him. They both are surprised by this not so-called proper meeting. Because Jisoo, with his grumpy face, is ready to slam Seokmin’s body and drag him to work but detained by something.

“Hey? A-are u okay?” Seokmin tried to break the ice, but Jisoo twisted his body and walked through the opposite side. Seokmin blinked his eyes twice, didn’t understand what was happening and what was the man’s intention.

As Jisoo came back from his canceled battle to beat the sun, Junhui laughed until his crystal tears came out from his eyes.

“Told you so,” he kept laughing.

Jisoo squinted his eyes shut. “He literally was the person I told you about last night!”

“Well, you didn’t ask me. I definitely knew every person who wants to strip your clothes down.” Junhui grinned.

Jisoo clenched his teeth as this morning’s main character showed up. “Excuse me, sorry I’m late.” He chuckled. Unhappily.

“You should be responsible for your responsibilities! Hasn’t anybody told you to NOT underestimate anything related to the job?” Jisoo slammed his fist to the wall. Seokmin was shocked, of course, even Junhui sighed heavily.

Never in a million years, anyone throwing hatred eyes at him. Everybody loves Seokmin. Because of his bright smiles and kindness of heart. He is the warmest thing, but only Jisoo who successfully made him petrified.

“I’m really sorry…” in a blink, the tears are coming down. Seokmin wipe them quickly. He shouldn’t be weak in front of Jisoo. Moreover, it’s only because his shouted.

“Really, I’m sorry…. I was so tired yesterday. I didn’t mean to be late today. I’m sor—”

“Save your sorry later. Now drive your golden fucking sparkling chariot before it’s too late,” said Jisoo in a flat tone.

Seokmin nodded, then his expensive vehicle appearing after he snapped his fingers. With those guilty face, Seokmin drove the chariot silently and disappearing as fast as flash.

Junhui looked at Jisoo, waiting for his friend’s explanation because of his temperament act.

“I’m sure you’re just out of control. Are you okay?” He asked Jisoo, as his hand gave a pat on the man’s shoulder.

“Terrible, I’m not. Why did I do such a childish thing? He’s not even do something like a crime to me.”

Although Jisoo seemed so angry at that time, he felt so bad to Seokmin. Should he apologize to the poor man? Or just don’t give a fuck about it since it’s not exactly his fault?

“Forget it. How about we eat something tasty tonight? Like, a glass of wine?”

“We do not eat that. Also, it’s dawn, not night.” Jisoo rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. Humans called the time they must sleep is night, and the time they must go to work is a day. Understand?”

“Since when you become human expert?” asked Jisoo as he sticked his hand in his pants pocket, looking at Junhui in an interrogative tone.

“Why? We should learn everything that happened in Earth! I don’t want to be called boomer.

“You’re boomer.”

“Shut up! You do not even know the meaning, grandpa.”

Two of them are walking inside a fancy restaurant to grab breakfast while their mouth still arguing with each other. It was a nice day and knowing the place is open for 24 hours makes it more interesting.

“I didn’t know there is a place like this in here,” Jisoo monitored carefully. A waitress came to their table to list their order not long afterward.

It didn’t take a long time to wait for their food to come and finally taste the sensation of wine. After they cheered, Jisoo’s thoughts back to Seokmin.

The Moon knew all of the creatures better than anyone. He can recognize Seokmin from the start because that man is very famous among Jisoo’s associates. Seokmin, who well known as personification of sun, likes to smile a lot. His eyes will crinkle together with two corners of his lips lifted. In Jisoo’s honest opinion, Seokmin is like a flower that blooms on spring days. He also spread positive vibes wherever he went around. And it made Jisoo confused about what he genuinely is.

Junhui noticed something went off. He stole a glance at Jisoo, who constantly playing with his fork. Before he started to speak up, to ask Jisoo if is there something that bothered him, a couple of troops that usually guard sky objects came running frantically to their table.

“Huh? Why are the troops came here? Did we make a mistake?”

Jisoo shrugged his shoulders.

“Urgent! Urgent! The Sun is burning his skin and a part of the Earth that currently is in morning soon will be burned!” said one of them.

“WHAT? SO WHERE IS HE NOW?” Junhui slammed the table, made everyone turning their head to him.

“Still working… we can’t let the universe off, boss.”

“No way! You should take him to medical center! Jisoo! Don’t be silent! The Sun is in trouble!”

Seeing Junhui panicked just because of a not so amusing hot news, Jisoo even can’t say anything but sighed so loud. “I heard what he said clearly.”

“Then stand your ass up, asshole.

Jisoo brought his mouth closer to Junhui’s ear and whispered. “Let me teach you some manners when we have spare time.”

Junhui showed his middle finger up. “Alright, I will call my boyfriend to back him up.”

After Junhui said that, Jisoo raised his right eyebrow. “You have a boyfriend? Since when? And why didn’t you tell me? Are you going to keep it for yourself only? Am I not a trustworthy person to you? Answer me, Wen.”

“Ugh! Stop asking me those super protective questions! You acted like my mother! I will tell you later! Now please bring this old man to save the Sun’s life!”

Junhui pushed Jisoo. In a second, the troops grabbed Jisoo’s hands and carry him to see the sun.

Seokmin condition is very very horrible. The skin that most of the time shimmering splendidly, producing gold glitter every time someone touched it, now burned entirely. He was the one who should be responsible for this accident. Considering it is his fault that can’t keep up with emotion.

It took Seokmin five minutes to realize that there is a person who walked little by little to his room. Jisoo. Hong fucking Jisoo. Seokmin froze for a second and he bet his face must be extremely red right now. Only the two of them in the same room made Seokmin more anxious.

Jisoo watched Seokmin reaction by looking at his shocked face after he entered the man’s room. He was thinking that maybe Seokmin is uncomfortable by an unexpected visit.

“How did this happen?” Jisoo grabbed a chair before sit his ass down. The man that he yelled at this morning can’t stop moving, seek for the right spot to rest his back. “Seriously, you’ll make it worse if you can’t stay still.”

“Uh, is someone forcing you to come here? Because of your wrinkled face and raising a voice, I think you honestly don’t wanna meet me.” Seokmin bit his lips. He was avoiding Jisoo’s eyes so he can’t found the anger that burning up there.

“Tell me where it hurts.”

“S-sorry?”

“Are you deaf?”

Instead of answering, Seokmin tried hard to not letting the tears fall by looking away from Jisoo. Why was he always give Seokmin the cold shoulder? Has he ever made an accidentally mistake to that man in the past?

“Jisoo.”

“What?”

“Do you hate me?”

Quiet. The clock is ticking so loud, even Jisoo’s fake coughs can’t be caught by Seokmin’s ears. That was just… a simple question. But why in the hell Jisoo feels like he can’t find out the right answer?

“I’m like this. You don’t have to be scared with my kind of behavior.” Jisoo finally responded. “Let me help you with those burns.”

When Jisoo is trying to reach the sun’s right arm, Seokmin resisted.

“It would be healed automatically!” His other hand covered the wound and it made him scream immediately. “I didn’t mean to scream in front of your handsome fac—”

“I get it. You are the one who hates me and planning to murder me.”

“Of course no!”

“You are.”

“No….”

Jisoo lifted Seokmin’s chin without asking permission. “Then what?”

Seokmin went blank. He tried to swallow what was just happened to him.

“I-I…” Whatever. He didn’t care anymore if his face is redder than boiled crab. “I adore you…”

Jisoo blinked his eyes several times. “Alright, you need to rest. You already start to say nonsense. I’m sorry for this sudden visit.”

Jisoo stood up, and when he reached the door handle, Seokmin hold his arms. “What?”

“I really do, Jisoo. I have a big crush on you. Can you at least just let me adore you?

“Then what was your answer?” Junhui slurped his slurpee. A day after Seokmin accidentally burned his skin and he needs some time to recover himself, Jisoo and Junhui hang out at a place that not so far from Seokmin’s house. The both of them were resting before the night come by that means Jisoo should go to work.

“I leave him after that.”

“What a stubborn man,” said Junhui in a tiny voice.

“I can hear you, Wen.”

“Seriously, stop pretending that you hate him! I know you don’t, Hong. That poor man literally is so close to burn the entire universe because you said something that hurts his feelings and it means we are all gonna die too! I don’t want to see your fucking face in hell.”

“Why should I be nice to him? I don’t want to put any or a little hope to him. I know he catches feelings because there are sparks in his eyes every time ours meet!”

“Then stop acting like a jerk! Falling in love with someone is not a crime. You should be grateful if someone is having crush on you.”

“No… you won’t understand.” Jisoo slammed his head to the table. His voice became cranky. “We can’t be together.”

“Why do you say as you have fallen for him? Oh! Are you?” Junhui smirked.

Therefore, Jisoo’s cheeks turned red. He tried to cover them with his sweater paws, but unfortunately Junhui saw it first.

“Oh dear, you ARE in love with him.”

Jisoo didn’t answer. All joking aside, from the bottom of his heart, he certainly asking. Does he love Seokmin?

“Morning Jisoo! We meet again, ehe.” A week has been passed so quickly. Seokmin smiled so brightly after he saw someone at the corridor. It’s Jisoo, who was waited for Junhui. The moon lifted his lips a little but after that he made a gesture for Seokmin to not get closer to him. “Have you eaten? Do you want some fluffy pancake? Or maybe onigiri? Cheese kimbab?”

“Shut your mouth or I will eat you instead.”

“O-oh.”

“That wasn’t what I meant!” Jisoo swallowed really hard. Gosh. Just by the presence, Seokmin was already testing his patience.

Seokmin was scratching the nape of his neck, as he asked Jisoo the same question for the second time. “Do you want to grab breakfast with me?”

“No.”

Straight to the point. Seokmin’s big smile disappearing as Junhui came and shouted noisily.

“What a nice view to start a day! Do you guys already make up? I mean, you two last meeting was not a good memory to remember.”

Jisoo snorted loudly. He walked three steps away before looked back at Seokmin and Junhui who were confused by his actions. “It’s not your business.”

Seokmin tried to smile before he snapped his fingers, to call his golden chariot. Ready to cross half of the world. “I bought you a cheesecake! The taste is really yummy! You should eat something before you do your job, Seok.”

“It’s so kind of you! I will eat this later. Thank you.” Seokmin bowed to Junhui, then he went into his “car”. “Oh! Please remind Jisoo to eat before he falls asleep, could you?”

“Of course! I will talk to him later. Don’t mind him, he likes to be a bitch sometimes. See you soon, Seok!”

Jisoo felt these last few weeks have been more exhausting than the tiring days he had ever passed. He found it was because all of negative thoughts that have been filled up his entire brain. He wanted to take a break, rest for a while before he will become depressed.

“You look pale, what’s the matter?” A little pat Jisoo got from Junhui who just came with another tall man behind him. Jisoo gave all his attention to him, trying to remember who is this. “Oh dear, I forgot to introduce this man to you! This is Minghao, my boyfriend. We had been dating for almost a year.”

“Hi Minghao. I’m Jisoo, your boyfriend’s boyfriend.” A moment’s silence. Both Junhui and Minghao didn’t respond Jisoo’s biggest lie. “I’m just joking, okay?”

“You made me extremely wanna throw you to hells’ crust!”

Jisoo chuckled. “By the way, I have to go now. Have a fun date, lovebirds!”

“Wait! Have you taken your medicine? Or maybe you should get some rest! I will back you up for tonight.”

“It’s alright. Today is lunar eclipse, I want to see myself glows into reddish.”

“Are you sure?” Junhui looked worried. “If you are collapsed, it’s not only you who falls but also the world. It could be frozen.”

“I can handle myself, Wen. Don’t worry too much.” Jisoo gave him a forced smile.

Maybe Junhui was right. Jisoo needs some sleep but he acts like he is a superhero without weaknesses.

“Jisoo! You good?!”

Seokmin ran so fast after he saw something wasn’t right on the other end. Jisoo, who supposed to glow since the Sun, Earth, and him are exactly positioned in the same straight line, didn’t show any sign. It made Seokmin, although his eyesight was blocked by the Earth, curious to know what happened to the Moon.

Jisoo still in his position. The Moon tried to stand up but his legs were shaking and Seokmin was more than ready to catch him before he fainted to the ground.

“Don’t touch me.”

“Are you sick? Your face is very pale.” Jisoo noticed that Seokmin was very panicked right now.

Honestly speaking, Jisoo was touched by the quick response, but he can’t do that. Jisoo should not forget what he has to do. He must get rid of Seokmin before things will get worse and worse.

“Go away,” he whispered. “Please. I don’t want to see you.”

“Jisoo…. I love you… why did you keep pushing me away? I want to help you because it makes me hurt too if you get hurt!” Jisoo never met anyone who shared the same eyes as him. There was no destruction. They were pure. All those stars that are reflecting in there, made Jisoo wanted nothing but pulling his arms into Seokmin tiny waist and kissing him endlessly. If he were a human, maybe his sins at lying are too much even the angels can’t handle when they wrote it down.

“Seokmin, do as what I say. Go back and forget what do you feel about me.”

There was a time when Seokmin wanted to hear the man he loves calling his name. He thought it would be the sweetest thing to hear and after he realized his feelings towards Jisoo, Seokmin only wants to hear the Moon calling him by the name.

And today, his wish came true. Jisoo called his name. In a desperate tone. To command him to go away and erase the amount of love he has to Jisoo. Pain. That’s all Seokmin feels right now. His chest is hurt because he felt his heart keeps breaking into pieces. “Jisoo… why…. why did you do that to me…”

"Everyone on this planet should know what were you doing! Nothing but causing destruction! I hate you so much, you know!"

This is not the first time Jisoo hearing Junhui swore all kinds of words he didn't understand. He kept yelling at him, which made him felt worse and worse.

“I told you to get some rest but you never listened to me! Why? Why is it so hard for you to follow my order?! That was also for your goodness for heaven's sake!"

"I'm sorry... I can't think straight...."

"Is there EVEN straight parts in your fucking life?!"

Jisoo took a look at Junhui who was massaging his temples. That man looked so frustrated. Maybe he was right. All Jisoo can do is nothing but causing trouble.

Junhui came to see him this morning and said that he was disappointed because Jisoo messed up things he shouldn't have messed with.

The lunar eclipse was absolutely a mess. It's been four days after Jisoo's bad accident and Seokmin got rejected from him. And that also means Jisoo hasn't see Seokmin's appearance for 96 hours. He wanted to ask Junhui so badly, but the words are stuck in his throat.

"Is everything alright?"

"What do you mean?"

"You have been backing me up these last days. What about the others?"

"The others you mean is Seokmin right?"

"No."

"Whatever," Junhui rolled his eyes. "He didn't show up after the accident. Even for yesterday's event. So my boyfriend is also backing him up."

Jisoo cough. A fake one. "Did he tell you what was his reason?"

"So curious, huh? Are you now admit that you are falling in love with Seokmin?"

"Of course not—"

"Yet."

"Fuck you."

Junhui laughed. "If you care about him that much, why won't you show yourself up to his room?"

It's not a bad idea, honestly. But you know that Jisoo's ego is bigger than VY Canis Majoris. A hypergiant star measuring 1,173 times the radius of the sun. The biggest star the universe had.

"U-uh, my doctor said I need to rest as much as possible. Maybe I can go back to work three days later."

"Yeah, just focus on your recovery, Jisoo. It's okay, you can always count on me."

Jisoo felt amazed by Junhui's generosity. He hugged his only best friend super tight before he left. "Thank you. You're the best."

"My pleasure! This is Seokmin's address in case you forget."

"I hope you choked on your drink and die already."

"That's the kindest of you! I'm moved!"

Little did Jisoo knows, he walked towards the familiar address. One left turn, and he will arrive at his destination.

Jisoo knocked on the door but nobody responded. He tried once again and still got no answer. He waited for minutes, standing alone like a lonely man who waited for their lovers to open the door house.

Perhaps Seokmin already has an instinct that said that Jisoo will go to visit him because the man felt guilty for snapped at Seokmin while Seokmin himself was trying to help him who was defenseless. Or maybe, Seokmin already hated him to the bone. Therefore, he didn't want to see Jisoo again in million dreams.

"Oh no..." Jisoo was playing with the handle, and he didn't expect that the door is unlocked. He repeated, UNLOCKED.

Jisoo stepped inside. Slowly, carefully, most importantly do not want to disturb Seokmin.

And when Jisoo found the figure he secretly missed, Seokmin was lying stiffly on the bed. Jisoo's heart seemed to drop from its original place into the stomach. No, no. "This is impossible," he muttered. Without wasting a second, Jisoo ran onto Seokmin's bed. On there, he can see the burns that dominate Seokmin's skin specifically.

Jisoo's eyes were heavy to blink. Because after that, there was a drop of tears that fell down his clothes. "Seokmin ...." he sobbed. "Please tell me what happened to you? Is there anyone who hurt you?" It's you, fool. His inner self told him frankly.

Jisoo held Seokmin's palm. It's cold. It's even colder than his room.

"Did you burn yourself again? Cannot you try to learn how to control your emotion?!" Jisoo touched the burns and he heard Seokmin groaned.

"D-don't touch it! It hurts!"

"Seeing you in pain like this made heart hurt more you little brat."

Seokmin tried to laugh, but his scar caused him to close his mouth. "Is it making you hurt seeing me turn into an ugly thing like this?"

"You're not an ugly thing! Just answer my question why did you do this to yourself?"

"Because I like you."

Jisoo blushed. He covered his cheeks with his blazer. "If liking me makes you hurt yourself, then stop liking me. It's not healthy, Seok."

"You know that the Sun, the Moon, and other creatures should train their emotion. If they aren't, they would be causing big problems to this universe," Seokmin sighed. "That's why I accidentally burned myself again. Because I can't stop crying and thinking about you. Jisoo, if I can choose what superpower that I want to have, I would like to have the ability to erase my feelings for you."

"Even though I've always been heartless to you all this time?"

"I know it sounds stupid but—" Seokmin stopped speaking after he felt his lips had just been given a sudden attack.

"Why? Go on."

"DID YOU JUST???"

One more time.

"U-uh...."

Seokmin's body trembled and he started to sob.

"Baby no, don't cry." Jisoo brought Seokmin's burnt body into his arms. He kissed the top of the Sun's head as their fingers are intertwined. "I'm sorry... I'm truly, madly, deeply sorry... I was a jerk to you and I don't deserve to be loved by a ray of sunshine like you."

"B-but you aren't... if you are... then you're not visiting me today... you cared so much about me, didn't you?"

"I'm scared, Seokmin. I'm scared. I'm scared to death that one day you will be tired of me and left me alone."

"Do you believe that I will do something nasty like that to you?"

"I'm just scared, Seokmin. So please, please guide me and remind me that you won't ever leave me. That this feelings are not temporary. Make me believe that I'm indeed crazy over you too."

"Yes, Jisoo. I will. I will remind you. Everyday. Until you have no doubts about us again."

And their lips are meeting. Jisoo is the one who led, meanwhile Seokmin just follow what the Moon's did now.

"I love you."

"I love you more."

Jisoo now may not know it, but he was relieved because his feelings are uncovered and it told the universe that he loved Seokmin. His universe. The Sun himself.
