Dannymay Day 6: Core

Work Text:

Danny doesn't usually help his enemies. It's just fight, thermos, ghost zone, repeat.

But he had to make an exception, just this once.

Glitch wasn't exactly a 'friend' per say, more of a small nuisance if anything. The young ghost would frequently visit Amity Park everytime it could find a way there just to play it's 'games' with unsuspecting teens.

So when Tucker and Sam called him over for another "Glitch situation", he expected another round of 'fucked up and evil mario party'.

He knew that wasn't the case as soon as he walked into Sam's house.

There was an aura of just..wrong. Like everything inside him was telling him something here wasn't right.

And then he heard it, the keen of a hurt ghost.

It sent a shiver through his whole body, and he rushed over to the room where Sam's 'guest' was staying, hurriedly knocking on the door.

Sam practically threw the door open, quickly pulling Danny in before shutting it again.

"Thank fuck you're here! We've got trouble and i don't think I or Tucker know what to do about this!"

He glanced over behind Sam to see the young ghost curled up into a ball on a bed, a power bank clutched tightly in their hands as they steadily sapped the energy out of it.

Tucker gives him a small wave, busy charging a different powerbank.

"This is the third one dude, they've been like this since they suddenly crashed in here!"

He cautiously approaches Glitch, a few stray sparks flying off here and there as the young ghost hisses at him, tense and stressed.

"Hey, hey, its ok.. I'm gonna help you, you're gonna be ok..You need to tell me what's wrong, okay? Is your core damaged?"

Glitch shakes his head.

"Is it feeling weird?"

A nod.

"Are you able to tell me what happened?"

They make a face, thinking for a bit before nodding.

"Was going to play game..heard yelling..saw a parent..take kid's phone..break it.."

oh.

oh yikes.

He didin't know a lot about Glitch, but he knew one thing, seeing kids have their belongings taken and broken would mess up the ghost bad, especially phones and video games.

"I'll take care of it, but we need to take you back to Technus, okay? He'll be able to help you better with your core.."

They nod weakly, placing down the now empty powerbank to grab a charged one.

Danny grabs the thermos he had given Sam, sucking up the ghost before gently placing it in his bag.

"Let's get going before Technus gets antsy over his absent grandson."
