"So, I can't break up with you?"
"Not a chance."
Lauren felt relieved when she heard that. She gave Leyla a little nod, still a little unsure of whether this relationship could work.
But when Leyla kissed her doubts away, she let herself finally believe; or at the very least, hoped that she can have this. That this relationship will work. That she can be a hardass boss and be soft with this amazing woman in front of her.
Lauren rested her forehead against Leyla. They spent a minute or maybe an infinity in that position. Lauren's too preoccupied with the thought that she doesn't have to forget the smell of Leyla's hair, or that she'd stop seeing her smile.
Lauren knows that they still have ways to go in regards to their relationship. They haven't even defined it yet. But for the first time in her life, she's not scared of moving forward with Leyla.
Because after experiencing this type of happiness, there's just no going back for her.
