Work Text:
“I’d give anything to fall asleep right now” you sighed to yourself. It was another one of those nights you just couldn’t seem to fall asleep no matter what you did or how hard you tried. Flipping over you grab your phone to check the time.
2:27 a.m
You sighed once again deciding to just give up on sleeping all together and sat up opening your social media. But of course there was nothing new or interesting going on because who is up at 2:30 posting on social media. You dropped your phone on your bed and looked around your room for something to pass the time that wouldn’t disrupt anyone else's sleep that you so envied. That's when you spotted your sketch book; you chuckled to yourself
“I haven’t drawn in months ,” you said, getting up careful not make any noise you walked across the room to grab your sketchbook. The problem was it was under a stack of other books. You let out a small groan, mumbling things that would probably get you grounded. You started to grab the books to move them when your phone let out a obnoxiously loud ping, making you jump and drop the books you were holding with a loud thud. You let out a long string of curses as you left the books where they were and went to pick up your phone
“Who the fuck is texting me at two in the morning,” you mumbled angrily, pissed that whoever texted you probably made you wake your whole household up. That was until you saw who the text was from
Kags: hey nerd u up
You softened a little and chuckled shaking your head slightly. ‘What is he doing up this late’ you wondered, opening his text
You: Yeah y? Something happen
Kags: no… just lonely
You: Oh u wanna ft
A few seconds after you sent the text Tobio’s caller ID popped up on your phone showing he wanted to FaceTime. You pressed the answer button and positioned the phone so you could see your face. Your screen shifted to show Tobio’s face. His face was dimly lit and halfway covered by a hoodie. He gave you a small upwards nod as a greeting.
You sighed and said, “What are you doing up so late.”
“I could ask you the same question,” he retorted, propping himself up on his elbows.
“I asked you first,” you said sticking your tongue out at him, “and what if you woke me up.”
He stuck out his tongue back at you “First of all, if I did wake you up you would have ignored me and went back to sleep. Secondly, I just couldn’t sleep,”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying I hate it when your right.”
“Did you just admit I'm right,” Tobio smirked
“Nonononono you must have misheard me I-,” he cut you off with a little chuckle “hey don’t laugh at me,” you pouted, which just made him laugh harder. Thats when you got an idea to make him stop laughing, “you’re so cute when you laugh,”
He immediately got super red and tried to hide his face “I an not cute,” now it was your turn to laugh
“Are too,”
“Am not,”
“Are too,”
“Am n-,” you cut him off, hanging up on him. Without fail a few seconds later his caller ID popped up on your phone. You answered him with a smirk on your face.
“Hey whats up,” you said nonchalantly.
He glared at you “not funny,” you gave him a little shrug and your brightest smile making him soften his features a little. He sighed “your too cute (y/n) it might kill me one day,”
“I know,” you replied confidently “you know it’s hard work being this cute,”
He scoffed “yeah right,”
You gasped in mock offence “how dare you,” you both let out a little chuckle leading into silence. The kind of silence where nothing needs to be said where you just enjoy being with each other. You both sat like this for a while until Tobio said the most random thing
“I wonder if there are any times on the clock I haven’t seen”
“What the actual fuck,” you sighed, “It’s too early for this.” You laid your phone down so all that showed on your end was the ceiling. But still he continued with his ramblings, and you somewhat listened occasionally mumbling a response when necessary. Mainly you were just enjoying Tobios soft gravely voice talking. After a few more minutes of talking about how ‘life would be so much better if we were snails’ you noticed him slowly drifting off talking less by the minute. You noticed you were getting quite sleepy as well, Tobios now slowed ramblings lulling you into a restful state.
“We should do this more often,” Tobio yawns before lightly drifting off.
“Yeah,” you muttered already halfway asleep. Both of you not bothering to hang up.
