Work Text:

“I’m playing, I’m playing!” shouted Hoseok, who had the really happy booze – until he had one too many drinks, at which point he looked so depressed that it felt like there was a black cloud over his head and he was questioning his whole life.

In this case, he had enough alcohol in his bloodstream to be euphoric. So much so that he was almost jumping up and down.

The game in question consisted of spinning an empty bottle, and the two designated people had to go lock themselves in the bathroom for five minutes, to kiss or something. But in general, it was very clear who was really doing the challenge until the end. First of all, because the door of the bathroom of Seokjin’s house had a window, in blurring glass certainly, but one distinguished nevertheless the forms of the bodies. And the movements. And then to the state of the two once they came out; if they were embarrassed, it was that nothing had happened. Just an awkward silence. It wasn’t really funny but some people weren’t usually drunk enough to kiss anyone.

But when they came out with red lips, sometimes bitten, sometimes out of breath, disheveled, if they tried to give themselves a contentment by rubbing their hands on their pants, with a shifty look, it was that something had happened. At least that’s what Yoongi had noticed from his best friend’s parties, who never missed an opportunity to party. And he wasn’t against it either, so he never missed an opportunity to come.

Hoseok sat down to add himself to the cheerful circle of people, and he laughed at a joke that Taehyung had just told him, but he couldn’t hear from where he was. The music and Jimin theatrically asking to be quiet next to him didn’t help.

“Shh, shh. Let’s get started. I’m starting to spin.”

The game had already started for a while, but Yoongi hadn’t been designated. At least, not at the moment.

The first ones to have gone to kiss in the bathroom had been Jimin and a certain Jungkook who all embarrassed had followed him, but knowing Jimin, and that smile he’d had when the bottle had pointed to the brunette in front of him, there was something between those two. Yoongi knew it. But it surprised him a little knowing that he usually did this kind of stuff with Taehyung. Anyway Jimin had everyone at his feet, and it wouldn’t even surprise him if he ever tell to him one day that he was finally sleeping with both of them.

The second two were Namjoon and Seokjin, and Yoongi didn’t even get up to listen awkwardly or try to see through the glass what was going on; nothing new, it was obvious there was something going on between them too, and had been for several months already. Seokjin had been telling him about Namjoon here and Namjoon there, and he already knew that they wouldn’t even waste time in chatting… if they would make it through this evening. That is, if Seokjin decided to go because Namjoon might be very nice, but Yoongi had realized when he got to know him that he was very shy. And above all, completely clueless. To the great displeasure of Seokjin, who, according to what he told him, was struggling to get the message across to him.

The third ones to be singled out by the bottle were Taehyung and Jimin – Yoongi suspected he had cheated once he saw that Taehyung was going to have to kiss one of the other 5 boys or himself, and pointed the bottle at him so that it would be the second option. It had made him laugh, and he hadn’t said anything. Even though he was getting bored, he didn’t really want to kiss Taehyung either – although he was quite cute – nor did he want to incur the wrath of Jimin, who was very possessive by nature – which didn’t really make sense knowing that he himself didn’t care whether his partners were or not, he was always the one who set the rules. Anyway, he’d gone into the bathroom to make out with Taehyung, and once again, Yoongi had been sitting in his seat, hearing the turkey gobbles teen-like of the guys at the door.

He wasn’t even that drunk. Which made the moment long as possible. He leaned over to look at the time on his phone just as Jimin sat back down next to him, a satisfied smile on his face. Taehyung was making the same face. Great.

He felt like he was stuck in a circle of already formed pairs. Only Hoseok in front of him, who had stopped drinking, had not been chosen yet either. He had emptied his beer, unlike Yoongi. The latter studied the boy’s fine features, without any embarrassment. He was definitely cute. Not cute like Taehyung, or cute like Namjoon. Those two were already on opposite sides of the word cute, even though they were both cute in their own way; but Hoseok looked like a completely different person. Like a completely different sense of the word “cute”. This intrigued Yoongi. Finally, he also had some alcohol in his blood. Even if he had a hard time admitting it. He had done a few shots before joining the boys. He just had a tendency to have alcohol that made him overthink. He would always start philosophizing – in his head always -, and get in over his head.

He hated those times, because when the others were loosening up when drunk, he was getting boring.

So he didn’t say anything.

He watched Jimin spin the empty bottle that scraped on the floor with the sound of glass against tile. He stared at the spinning object over and over again, so much so that his head was almost spinning too. He felt as if he was inside and that it was his heart that was being spun; he had a small hope that something interesting was going to happen, yet he wasn’t 100% sure he wanted it to happen either.

The bottle pointed to Hoseok, who hiccupped in surprise, before smiling. He was waiting for his turn too. He knew he was far from sober, but he was also excited about kissing someone, for some reason. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. As Jimin began to spin the bottle, he found himself praying that it would point to the boy sitting next to Jimin, with cat-like eyes, almost black brown hair, and who, despite looking bored, was very handsome. He wanted to kiss him. He particularly wanted it to be him, for some obscure reason – or maybe not -, still he wanted to know his name. And to see if he was as beautiful with a smile on his face.

Yoongi looked at the bottle again, his head empty of any thought. And when it pointed at him theatrically, he felt like he had a spotlight on him; and it was quite unpleasant to be aware of having Seokjin and Jimin’s vicious gaze on him. Usually he didn’t care. Well.

He got up, along with Hoseok, and they headed upstairs without a word, fully aware that the other five would probably be rushing to stick their heads in the doorway to listen or try to guess what was going on inside. He regretted having thought he wanted something to happen, not because he was going to have to stay with Hoseok, but rather because if it had to happen, he would have preferred it to happen without anyone at the doors.

He thought back to the first time he had seen him. He had met him by chance one day, when he had gone out with Jimin to the cinema, to see the latest film released – to be honest he hadn’t really remembered the title. And they had met Taehyung and Hoseok on the way. Finally Jimin had spotted Taehyung waiting in front of a shoe store. Jimin had started the discussion, and Taehyung had finally explained that he was waiting for his friend who was inside.

“Hoseok. Right here.” He had said then, pointing to a boy inside, from behind, with brown curls and a white t-shirt and jean shorts as his outfit.

Yoongi had been absentmindedly following the spot Taehyung was pointing to, and he had, he had to admit, gotten a little twinge in his heart when he saw his face, as “Hoseok” turned around. He was… nice to look at.

Anyway. What brought them to this moment. How could it have come to this? They entered the cramped room, before Yoongi, who was walking behind closed behind him.

“How long do you think it will take them to get upstairs?” asked Hoseok, breaking the silence.

“No idea.” Yoongi replied, from ear to ear. It was a lame answer. “We can check it out at worst.”

Great that was even more lame. Why he had added that.

Hoseok laughed softly.

“Let’s count to 30.”

And they counted to 30. This moment seemed both unreal, both passing slowly and at the same time very fast. At the end of the 30 seconds, which they had counted in unison, Hoseok opened the door, and there was no one behind it.

“Oh.” He then said, in a neutral tone. “They stayed downstairs.” He added with a smile as he turned back to Yoongi, who was leaning nonchalantly on the edge of the tub. A dimple was digging into his cheek and the latter found it even more attractive with a smile.

He was in serious trouble. He sighed with a smile.

“Good for you then.” He replied simply, and Hoseok closed the door. “What do we do?” he then asked the other, who still had his hand on the handle. Asking to wait for the five minutes to be over without doing anything seemed too direct; he was waiting for Hoseok to propose it himself in fact. But instead, he said nothing. He was still smiling.

He let go of the door handle, and walked toward the tub – or toward Yoongi, perhaps.

When he reached him, Hoseok looked Yoongi straight in the eye. And Yoongi remained impassive, or at least he tried to, even though he couldn’t guarantee that his cheeks wouldn’t turn red at that very moment, when his chest seemed to be about to explode. The surprise made him half-open his lips; he was going to ask him what he was doing, what he intended to do, what he was playing at the moment. But Hoseok did not let him form a single word.

He put his lips on Yoongi’s. He was kissing him.

He was kissing him.

Hoseok put his handson his waist. In fact he was trying to put his hands under his sweater.

Damn, he was kissing him!

The time to realize it seemed to last forever; Hoseok withdrew his lips, but not his hands. He looked into Yoongi’s eyes again, and he was still smiling and damn it, the dark-haired man was torn between wanting to scream and wanting to continue what the other had just started. His arms, which had remained stupidly along his body until now, came to find Hoseok’s thighs, positioned on each side of Yoongi, who had his legs stretched and stuck in front of him, his buttocks on the bathtub. It wasn’t the most pleasant and comfortable position, but they didn’t have much choice.

What the hell was he up to?

He sealed their mouths a second time, as if to silence his thoughts. He put his hands on Hoseok’s cheeks, to have his face in his hands. He could feel his smile in their kiss. Which was strangely pleasant; he felt like butterflies all over his rib cage, moving down into his belly. His lips were soft and moist but it was as if they were meant to be kissed. His skin under his cool fingers was warm and smooth, and he suddenly had strange urges, like tracing the contours of his body, seeing him, looking at him. There was an atmosphere between them that wasn’t there when they first entered the room, and it made him feel more comfortable than he had at the beginning of the evening. Hoseok made him feel silly – because they had just officially met a few minutes ago, because it was a fucking bottle game – but also made him feel good – he wasn’t ashamed to have these kinds of thoughts, as if… as if he had any feelings at all, when it was absurd, and that was because the boy across from him seemed to feel the same way.

He ran his hands through Hoseok’s hair, and oh, surprise, it was soft and slipped under his fingers. Everything about him seemed soft and attractive.

Yoongi stopped their kiss for a moment, regretfully, to look at him. He had beautiful eyes as well; brown, and they looked lighter in the green neon light of the bathroom.

“What’s going on?” asked Hoseok. “I’m a bad kisser, right? Yet I thought I was fine.” He added with a sulky look on his face.

And for all answer, Yoongi laughed softly.

“No, you’re not a bad kisser.” He told him simply, before sliding his hands over his waist. He had a slim waist, even though he was still wearing a very large t-shirt.

“Hey, you touch me a lot.”

Yoongi, embarrassed that he had potentially made him uncomfortable, immediately withdrew his hands. But Hoseok, who had more or less run his hands down Yoongi’s back in the meantime, pulled them back from where they were, to grab his own, and rest them on his waist.

“It’s okay.” He said, smiling mischievously again. “I like it.”

It was Yoongi’s turn to smile. There was definitely a chemistry between these two. And Hoseok to be bewildered; he who had been more or less leading the way since the beginning, he had just checked his questioning from earlier. Yes, Yoongi was even more stunning when he smiled. Something in his chest stung him.

“You’re kidding me.”

“No.” Hoseok just replied, before losing some of his mischievous smile, and turning into a contrite smile. “We should go back downstairs.” He had said that reluctantly.

And Yoongi nodded reluctantly too. As much as they both wanted this moment to last at least for all eternity, one in the other’s arms, chatting lightly, and stealing kisses like this, others would come up to see them sooner or later, and they preferred that this moment remain only for them.

The way those five minutes had ended was so improbable in Yoongi’s imagination, but now it seemed almost logical. It was a really strange feeling.

Hoseok stepped back, they took their hands off each other, and they opened the door; of course, there was no one hiding behind it.

They went back down to join the others.

The next day, Yoongi asked Jimin for the number of a certain Jung Hoseok, and Jimin smiled and gave it to him. Obviously, interesting things had happened in this bathroom.
