Chapter Text
I am long free of the shackles that bind me to you.
You are a thousand miles away from me now,
Yet I still feel you around me.
Your comforting figure morphs into a phantom:
A shadow that looms over me,
A dark figure at the corner of my eye,
The paralysis that grips me in my sleep
You are the chains wrapped around my heart.
I try to run from you,
But, like a mist –
you are all around me,
Everywhere I turn, I see you:
The remnants of our past
And the memories that haunt me.
Now I am afraid, of holding something
So dear as you.
