Chapter 1: A proper introduction to the tragic story ahead
The sun peeked through the curtains of many rooms within the mysterious old mansion. Quiet halls that were once filled with the smell of fear, anxiety and once roared with the sounds of fight practice and quiet laughter that dared not to reach a decibel that would even suggest it might be even slightly audible to the angry old man that controlled all within the walls. The halls each differing depending on the occupants of the rooms alongside the walls of the long quiet halls, from a dark titus european oak shined glossed elegantly carved wood walls, pictures of a time deep within the past hang from the walls between doors and the floor lined with an old expensive but well taken care of carpet that once bore the weight of a robotic mother dressed in a fashion reminisced of a gone by era with a warm smile upon her face unaware of the emotional and psychological horrors that occurred, an old monkey with the intelligence of man able to walk and recite literature and most importantly the austere cold-blooded "father" of these 7 strange but very melancholic children running around to another hall whose walls bared some color and near the end of the hall the walls bore the printed images of martial arts positions with the figures within these illustrations being of children performing such violent acts. The rooms of the mansion each keep secrets only known to those who bore witness to the tragic events. It must be made clear that no room within these walls of the mansion was spared of a tragedy of any kind with exception to the attic which overtime became a sanctuary to said 7 children, each using their soul to carve a secret into the dusty top room of the mansion.
The old building that holds a lifetime of secrets, chaos, fears, anxieties, horrors, tragedy, loneliness and the ever so rare moment of almost inaudible laughter is now ever so quiet. Daily domestic maintenance done by the robotic mother, an invention of the austere wealthy man as well as the quiet steps of the man-like intelligent primate seem to be the only consistent inhabitants of the empty mansion. This mansion is known as a place nearest to hell on earth to the 7 strange children who had been born with powers and not raised as it would imply a form a care and love given to said children on any basis but a better word would be trained, yes, they had been trained there, but to the public this was. . .The Umbrella Academy
The children had not been given names but rather a number, the meaning of this order is largely debated by the public and the children themselves only known by the mysterious cold wealthy man who purchased the children as if they were a product to be bought, sold and marketed and manipulated for the gain of others. Never allowed to form a path of their choosing until they become an adult and run off from his grasp, each born at the same time on the same day to unsuspecting people around the planet. They later would be given names by the robotic mother, except for one who had disappeared into thin air at a young age, no figurative speech used the child literally disappeared into thin air. . . the children are as listed
- Number 1 or Luther “SpaceBoy” Hargreeves: Inhumane Strength.
- Number 2 or Diego “The Kraken” Hargreeves: Manipulation of air and inhumane accuracy of weapons
- Number 3 or Allison “The Rumor” Hargeeves: Manipulation of reality using the phrase “I heard a rumor. . .” can be used on living creatures as well (including humans and her fellow super siblings)
- Number 4 or Klaus “The Séance” Hargreeves: Able to communicate and visualize the deceased, perhaps can conjure up the deceased on command
- Number 5 (Disappeared before name had been given) “The Boy” Hargreeves: High intelligence and able to move through the inner workings of space and time
- (Deceased) Number 6 or Ben “The Horror” Hargeeves: Able to open up chest cavity to then use a monster to then murder the target
- Number 7 or Viktor “ The White Violin” Hargreeves: Powers Unknown but is medicated for the protection of self and others
The 7 children listed above no longer, as adults, inhabit the mansion that once kept them emotionally, psychologically and perhaps physically hostage only permitted out for missions at the permission of the cold old man known as father to the 7 children, Reginald Hargreeves. At times a few of the children would escape and sneak out for only moments of joy.
This is The Umbrella Academy, home of the heroic 6 children trained from birth to save the world and fight the forces that attempt to cause harm to the public around them. At such a young age these children bore the burden of being saviors and heroes without ever truly being children, greatness had not been given as an option but had been expected of them at all times. Often the children were witness to the horrors of the world expected to save those around them without considering their own safety. As the children grew older the once “spectacular” team had split up, with one maintaining fame through an acting career at the dismay of her “father” and another gaining some notoriety from publishing a novel on what it had been like being a child in such a home, if it can even be called that. The others faded into adulthood, but one child in particular would live a life of especially great hardships using illegal substances to cope with the horrors of his own life and of his robbed childhood.
Known as “The Séance” or Klaus to those who saw him as a person, rather than a product. Klaus’ story is one of particular tragedy but with a hopeful ending being one of two queer children within the academy. This is his story, start, middle and ending.
enjoy.
