Chapter Text
Waking up the day after Dream was put in prison felt like the best thing that had happened to Tommy; he felt refreshed, relaxed, and not like he was going to regret waking up that day. He stretched and cracked the stiff bones in his body, appreciating the loose feeling it gave him. As the boy went about his morning routine he couldn’t take his mind off of what he could do now that he didn’t have to worry about the devil looking over his shoulder. Maybe he and Tubbo could pull some pranks, or even just chill on the bench! Maybe he could hit up Niki and try some baking with her, he always did love her baking; the sky's the limit and Tommy wants to soar.
The fresh air and bright sun uncovered by clouds added onto the joy that Tommy felt immensely. He strutted down the prime path with a bounce in his step when he spotted JackManifold walking opposite his direction “Jack! Hey, JackJackJack!!” Tommy waved at Jack like a madman while trying to call him over. Jack looked over at Tommy with an annoyed expression but still moved to talk to the teen, “Hi, Tommy” Jack sounded exasperated but Tommy didn’t really care “S’up BITCH what’er you doing” he asked excitedly. Jack immediately regretted talking to the boy “Well I was going to talk to Niki before you saw me” he explained.
Jack wasn’t fully lying but he didn’t think telling Tommy they were scheming to kill him was a great idea. He almost felt bad about it because the teen clearly happy, but after everything he did to make Jack unhappy he thought it was karma.
Tommy decided to interrupt Jacks train of thought “OH NIKI! Maybe I can come with you we can do shit together” Tommy cheered as his mind raced with all the things he wanted to do; Jack interrupted him this time “NO, it’s… just a me and Niki thing” Jack exhaled the last bit, wanted to leave this awkward conversation as fast as possible. Tommy stopped bouncing and started thinking “Oh” Tommy got a mischievous look on his face “O-ho-ho~, look at big man JACK over here” he teased. Jack got both an angry and embarrassed look on his face “NO NOT THAT, We’re just going to talk about, POLITICS!” Jack had to improvise that last part. Tommy teased him one more time “Alright, alright I get it, will you be busy later?” Jack huffed and answered “Yes, me AND NIKI, will be busy all day” Tommys shoulders slumped but his face remained neutral “Oh, alright” the teen replied. Tommy was about to ask another question but Jack walked away without saying anything “rude” he thought pointedly.
Well that was a bust, but it was fine Jack was always a bit of a bitch to Tommy so he didn’t expect a lot out of him, besides, he could still go find Tubbo! Tommy shook off the encounter and kept strutting down the wooden pathway until he reached Snowchester where he saw Tubbo, and Ranboo. Now, Tommy didn’t hate Ranboo, he was just a bit miffed that he was always around Tubbo and taking up his time; he would never call the enderboy clingy to his face but he always thought it when he saw them together, like right now. Tubbo saw Tommy and waved him over to where they were, the smile on his face was a very Tubbo smile in Tommys eyes; “TUBBO, HI'' Tommy screamed from across the snowy plain “Tommy!” Tubbo yelled back. Tommy skidded to a halt right in front of Tubbo, kicking some snow onto the goat boys boots.
Tubbo was happy Tommy was here, really he was. He was just busy trying to do some repairs on the buildings after a couple of creepers exploded near them, like the assholes they were. With Tommy here Ranboo, Tommy, and him could get this done much faster and even have some time to hang out as a group! Tubbo really wanted Tommy to like Ranboo, they had really gotten close now that they were living in snowchester together and Ranboo really didn’t want Tommy to hate him, it was hard for anyone to hate Ranboo but the hybrid still had his concerns. Tubbo was brought out of his thoughts by Tommys rambling.
“And THEN after all that we can hang out on the bench till the sun goes down!” Tommy fist bumped the air at the last part and looked at Tubbo with shining eyes. Tubbo let out a snicker and replied to the excited boy “Sure that sounds like fun! We just need to finish up with the building and then we can all go!” Tubbo replied excitedly. Tommys shoulders slumped a bit “All of us?” he asked confusedly “Yeah you, me, and Ranboo” Tubbo replied.
Tommy was… stuck; on one hand he really wanted to hang out with his best friend after everything that happened, but on the other, he ONLY wanted to hang out with his best friend, not the person he was quickly becoming a third wheel to. Tommy needed to get out of here before he said something stupid.
Tubbo was confused at Tommys silence until the blond spoke up “Oh actually I just remembered I need to grab some coal for my furnace, dammit, maybe next time eh?” it was incredibly obvious the boy was lying but Tubbo didn’t know why; “Are you sure? We have some coal you can borrow here” Tubbo said, slightly desperate. He was confused, why did Tommy want to leave? Was it something he said, or did, did he change his mind?
Tubbo was about to say something when Ranboo interjected “Well maybe we can hang out tomorrow, I’m sure we’ll be done by then” he said gesturing to him and Tubbo. Tommy thought it over, and decided that it was probably the best option he had at the moment without sounding like a dick; “Yeah that sounds pog” he said with false confidence. The silence afterwards was deafening as each person tried to find a way to fill it. Eventually Tommy said “Well I’d better go and get that coal see you tomorrow bye” in a quick and rushed way of speaking.
The blond left quickly after that, speed walking a good few miles away before stopping to breathe. A coward, a fucking coward that's what he was. He couldn’t hang out with someone with that persons other friend around are you kidding! Tommy felt shame… and also disappointment. He was disappointed that his good day was ruined by his stupid jealousy and other peoples stupid schedules without him. But he also knew he was being unfair; he just hoped that with Dream gone everything would be better, but it seemed that everything was better for everyone except him. Maybe he was just stuck in the past, everyone was moving forward except for him, they had new lives to live except for him, maybe he just needed something to do.
With that thought in mind, Tommy changed directions to a nearby mountain; he might as well go mining like he said he would, maybe he’d find something cool! He only knew that he needed to find something to distract himself from his future.
