Chapter Text

He was a little boy, when he first heard the strings of a guitar. He was instantly captured by the soft notes, the gentle sound. His heart flipped, his eyes sparkled. He couldn't move. He just watched the man on the street, hooked in his own world of sound and music, with only a guitar in his hands and his voice, filling the warm summer air.

Oikawa liked it, he loved it. This was the moment he fell in love with music, his one true love. He fell in love with the sound, the feeling, the goosebumps on his arms, everytime the song climbed up to the final. His hands clapped to the beat, his feet bobbed with the notes.

And this moment, the moment he fell in love, was the moment he learned to fly.

Oikawa needed to play. Since the summer day, he couldnt stop thinking about music. He needed a guitar. Or a piano. Just... something. He couldn't persuade his mother easily. She saw the passion in her sons eyes, but still she couldn't say yes. Their family wasn't especially poor, but not really rich either. An instrument was expensiv and the hours of learning and playning too. But Oikawa haven't wanted anything more in his life, than the music . And no one could resist his big brown eyes.

And the day came, when Oikawa had his first guitar lesson. He was excited. So excited, that his hands were sweaty and his heart pounded in his chest. His breath went faster than normal and he couldn't stop moving antsily. Even his mother's soft touch on his shoulder couldn't stop it.

Only as he entered the narrow building, his mother leading him by the hand, his nervousness stopped for a second. Behind the glass doors waited a whole different life, a wole new world. Music came from every corner. Posters hung on every wall. Men and women with extraordinary hairstyles past them, a little girl with a violin played in one corner, without being borthered. Oikaway eyes went wider and wider. "So honey," his mother kneeled down beside Oikawa and gave him a worried look. "I have to go to work now. Will you be okay here?" Oikawa nodded fastly. "Good," his mother sighed. "Then I will leave you here. Ah, there is your teacher." A tall man came upon them, with a soft smile on his lips. "You must be Oikawa Tooru, right?" Oikawa grinned. "Yes, thats me." "Oh well, then I have to take you to your first class." he smiled brightly and wrinkles danced across his faces. "Bye honey." His mother squeezed him in a thight hug, before she stood up again, reaching out her hand to Oikawa's new teacher. "I am his mother, we spoke on the phone." "Ah yes, nice to see you here. I am Mr Nobuteru Irihata, the music teacher."

They talked shortly, what for Oikawa's impatient self seemed like boring adult's stuff. He finally wanted to play. He jumped up and down with too much energy running through his veins. As his mother finally left, Mr Irihata led him to one of the music classrooms. "This is our new workplace. Here you will learn everything improtant in life." Oikawa believed every word. He looked through the empty room, with many empty chairs and unplayed instruments. "Where are the other kids?" he asked confused. Mr Irihata gave him a sad smile. He shrugged. "Not many children wanted to learn the guitar this year. You and another boy are my only students to start with." A saddend glance crept over his eyes. "It's a pity." he whispered, more to himself, than to Oikawa.

"And who his the other boy?" Oikawa asked curious. "You will meet him any minute." They crossed the room and Oikawa took place on one of the chairs in the first row. Within seconds, the door swung open. Oikawa turned his head and catches a glimpse at a grumpy looking boy. He must be my age, Oikawa thought. The boy crossed the room fastly and took place right next to Oikawa. The boy didn't seem to realize Oikawa was next to him, or he just didn't care at all. With big eyes, Oikawa surveyed the other boy. He was smaller than him and seemed stronger. He had scars up his legs and a little band Aid at his cheek. His arms were crossed over a godzilla Shirt, and the dark brown hair of the boy stood up like the spines of a hedgehog.

"What are you looking at, huh?" the other boy said harsh and Oikawa flinched. "I-I just..." The other boy stared at him, with olive eyes full of suspect and bravery. Oikawa could feel how the ground crept open under him. He could feel how he was slowly falling again. But this time for a boy named Iwaizumi Hajime.
