Annoying in a cute way

Summary:

Snotlout has a talent for pissing you off but you can't help but fall for him.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

'I hate him.'

The sound of splintering wood echoed across the field as the axe I threw connected with the target. The once smooth surface was now littered with marks and gashes across it, a clear sign of all the abuse it endured while I trained.

I started walking towards it, my shoulders aching and sweat glistening across my forehead. A feeling of tiredness fell over me but my frustration was bigger, making me grit my teeth as I pulled the stuck weapon out of the target.

"Something on your mind?"

A voice resided behind me and I turned, my gaze meeting that of a rather amused Astrid. I huffed and threw my axe to the ground, the leather handle glistening from all the sweat over the last hour.

"No, I'm just...practicing.That's all."

My breathing was slightly laboured from the workout and I couldn't hide the blatant lie I told her. Astrid knew when something was up, she could always tell.

"Oh really? And does this 'training session' have anything to do with a certain Snotlout?"

Her eyebrow cocked as I exhaled, a smirk appearing on her face as she caught on. She always got me.

"Maybe, maybe not. Does it matter?"

I picked up the axe, preparing to throw it again. As I raised it in the air Astrid spoke up.

"Well it does matter, if you keep this up I'l be picking up only pieces of that targer after."

Her comment made me stop as I examined the target. I knew there were gashes but taking a moment to study it more showed that it was in worse condition than I originally thought. I guess I really went a bit overboeard.

"Yeah you might be right."

Deciding I should stop for today I put my axe into the holster on my back. Astrid walked over and patted me on the shoulder.

"So what did he do this time?"

The question sounded funny but annoyed me at the same time. She always asked me this and it reminded me just how often he did something to piss me off.

"I can't even say he did anything, he's just...Snotlout."

I exclaimed and she nodded.

"Yeah well we can't really expect anything more but, seriously what did he do?"

I raised my hand to my face, pinching the bridge of my nose as I let out a groan.

"He flirted with me."

Astrid just looked at me in silence.

"...and?"

"And then flirted with someone else."

She sighed and let out a laugh.

"Yeah well that's classic so you can't really make him stop doing the things that make him Snotlout. Unless..."

She trailed off with an expectful look in her eyes. I studied her expression before I realised what she meant.

"Wait...you don't mean that I tell him...do you?"

Her smirk grew as she pulled her hand off of my shoulder and started walking off, expecting me to follow. I picked up the pace, matching hers as I continue looking at her. She couldn't be serious..right?

I mean, should I confess? I really like Snotlout and I wanna tell him but...how? Would he even like me back? What if he hates me? What if I'm annoying-

"Just go for it!"

Astrid practically yelled as I was snapped back to reality. She saw me rocking me brain over it but I couldn't help it.

"But what if-"

"No no."

She cut me off.

"No more 'what ifs' and just do it. Would you seriously rather just watch from the sides and get pissed off every time he talks to another girl or will you just tell him already?"

She had a point. I can't just keep sulking and getting jealous when we aren't even dating. It was stupid.

"Yeah...ok."

Her smirk grew as she stopped in her tracks. Wrapping her arms around me she let out a laugh.

"Finally!"

I couldn't help but laugh myself. I was finally gonna do it, no backing out this time.

I just hope he likes me back.
