As the Metro City fireworks display goes off, things seem surprisingly normal for a July 4th celebration. Typically this day would be ruined by Megamind one way or another, however the last few months have been shockingly quiet from him. The general population of Metro City isn’t sure whether to think Megamind has resigned, or is simply hiding something bigger. He has definitely gone long periods of time without attacking before, but this has been way past the norm.
Minutes in, after the partying and cheering folks let their guard down for the most part, there is a shrill shriek from one end of the crowd. The people begin to panic and, like frightened sheep, begin to flee as a large swarm of barking brainbots wash over the area, nipping at people and scaring them away. The craziness goes on for many minutes until the majority of people have left the area, leaving their chairs and coolers behind.
“Hahaha, It took them longer this year! They’re getting slow!” Megamind called over his shoulder to Minion as he strolled through the grass and weaved between the abandoned lawn chairs and abandoned food storage. The fireworks still cracked and whistled loud overhead as he found a nice, bulky lawn chair to plunk himself down into and reach over into the nearest cooler, digging into the ice and pulling out a soda. He cracked the tab and took a swig as Minion settled beside him. The brainbots swarmed the area and in the sky but took care not to block Daddy’s view of the fireworks. He sighed happily, crossing his legs as he enjoyed the view.
