Work Text:

Georgie’s feet pounded against the ground as she ran up the stairs, ignoring the shouts from behind her. Every time Georgie had a second to breathe, someone else up and disappeared into this hellscape. Jon - who was running behind her with Martin - had said something about there being no more comfort in this world, but Georgie hadn’t had the time to listen to that while she dealt with the rest of the group who were also gone . But this wasn’t the time to look back. She just had to move. Her lack of fear didn’t make her ignorant of what was waiting at the top of the panopticon. Who was waiting up there.

She ran through what looked like a lobby and past a secretary she vaguely recognised. She quickly decided to deal with the idea of other people being trapped above them this entire time later, she had someone more important to find. Pushing through the door, she saw a figure standing in the centre of the room stretching as if they’d just gotten up from a long rest. Georgie instantly recognised the oversized jacket and short hair she’d cut herself back when she thought things were finally working out.

“Melanie! Thank God you’re alright! Where have you been? We’ve been looking for you!” Georgie called out, reaching a hand out to touch her girlfriend’s shoulder.

Melanie turned her head and Georgie felt a sense of wrongness creeping over her. Melanie(?) Looked back with a pair of grey eyes staring so deeply at her in a way that reminded her of Jons when he’d shown up at her doorstep back when the world made sense. Melanie’s eyes had been a dark calming brown. Melanie’s eyes had been gone

Georgie felt Martin's hand on her arm pulling her back as Jon looked on, his own eyes filled with what can only be described as rage.

The thing that looked so so much like Melanie (though Georgie had spent a while learning not to trust things just because they look like someone you love) took a step forward and grinned in a way that made Georgie feel sick.

“Hello, Jon.”
