Chapter Text
Steve kissed your forehead before making his way up to the stage. There was applause and cheers of joy as he walked up to his side to his podium. You smiled but it couldn’t reach your eyes, you didn’t really enjoy all of this, the debates, all the people, the stares at you both, the press. But you were Steve’s soon to be wife, you had to be by his side through this, that was what was expected of you. You were soon to be First Lady if Steve won this election.
Steve was such a wonderful man and he treated you like a queen, he had ever since you had met in college. You both were young and so in love but weren’t ready for each other so you broke up 4 years into the relationship and went your separate ways only to meet up again further in your life, Steve as a U.S. Senate and you as a lawyer and now here you we’re on your way to marrying him, you should be very happy, this man was going to treat you right for the rest of your life no matter what position in government he would be in. Then why was there something nagging you in your mind, telling you you weren’t exactly happy?
You were so caught up in your thoughts that you were a bit startled when you heard the crowd break in applause again as the other candidate was called to the stage.
Loki Laufeyson.
You couldn’t get much of a read on him, he was a complete opposite of your fiancé, dark, somewhat brooding but then again he was very charismatic. He was nice enough to you and your fiancé but they were going against each other in this race and that brought out the nastiness. There was also the fact that he looked at you like he could eat you up, it sent chills throughout your body in the best kind of way. He was the reason why you turned and tossed in bed lately, he had dug his way into your dreams, had you questioning whether Steve was really the kind of man you wanted to be with and you felt guilty every time you had that thought.
Loki caught you staring at him and a smirk graced his face as he sent you a quick wink your way and you felt your face heat up as you averted your eyes quickly. Loki didn’t have a woman by his side through this, he didn’t seem like the type to want to settle down in the first place and you wondered what it would be like to be his. You took your seat and geared up for this debate that you felt would take hours and sighed, you hated this.

“Are you ok, baby?” Steve asked, coming off the stage to hug you. With the debate finally over all you wanted was to get to some seclusion with no cameras in your face looking at your every movement.
“I’m fine, just a little tired.” You smiled as he looked at you.
“I know, just a few more moments and we get to leave and get back to the hotel.”
“Rogers, good debate, always a pleasure to go against someone with good points.” You stiffened at the accented, raspy voice, Loki had just walked up to you two and Steve turned to him with you wrapped under his arm.
“You too, Laufeyson, until the next debate.” Steve reached out shaking hands with his opponent.
“Always nice to see you as well my dear.” Loki spoke to you, eyes basically glowing as he looked to you, holding out his hand for you to fit yours into. You reached for him and you silently gasped as you felt a spark go through your hands, he leaned down to kiss your knuckles quickly and let go leaving you breathless.
“See you both soon.” He turned and left, his entourage following behind.
“He’s a slick one.” Your fiancé spoke, snapping you out of your stupor, and began leading you out the other entrance, your own entourage following behind you.
“Mhmm.” Was all you could get out, your thoughts stuck on Loki’s soft lips on your hand.
