Work Text:
Chenle taps the tip of his pencil onto his desk, repetitive, annoying, and ultimately the main sound that keeps himself at the tip of his rails. The older is quite aware of how to keep himself stable, or, more of sane . It really all sprouts from one individual that causes the disruption. Jisung is tipping his seat back and forth, the edges of the chair lean against the floor with ease. The younger having no thought in his mind about potentially falling as focusing his attention on Chenle was the one thing that swam through his empty head. “You’re going to hurt yourself and I will laugh. ” Chenle resorts to interfering with Jisung’s staring. Which ultimately doesn’t work as his eyes do not leave and the four chair legs do not sit stationary. “Put your chair down.”
“Or what?” Jisung smiles, tilting his head as he presses one of the older male’s buttons. It’s at the bottom of Chenle’s patience control panels, so he won’t be facing any large consequences. But, he finally does put his chair down. “Come on, tell me.”
“You’re being annoying.” Chenle scoffs. Closing his notebook as a form of a subtle threat, signaling to Jisung that he was steps away from leaving the table. “We came to the library to study.”
“I am studying.”
“Yeah, right.”
“I am,” He argues. Leaning forward to scrunch his nose and keep eye contact with Chenle, “studying you .”
“You’re so stupid.” Chenle places his pencil on top of his notebook this time. He crosses his arms and turns his head away to hide the shifting expressions that appear due to his slight embarrassment of his words. “Can't you just focus? I already told you Mrs. Lin is a harsh grader when it comes to assessments. So if you fail, don’t come crying to me about it.”
Jisung shrugs his shoulders as he places himself slowly into the chair's back support comfortably. “I’ve been studying before it got announced. She always goes by the syllabus schedule so I knew it was coming up.”
Another scoff exits Chenle’s mouth, “Of course…”
“You’re disappointed?”
“No, irritated because of the fact that you knew already.”
The right of Jisung’s lips tug to the side, “Did you want to be my little reminder? Because I can pretend to forget so we can play this over your way.”
“You look very punchable right now.”
“Use your lips, a fist might hurt a bit babe.”
And as many times Jisung plays around with Chenle’s buttons. It is never enough for him to make him get up and leave. Because the two mash together well, no matter the situation Chenle will always understand the behavior of Jisung and Jisung will always keep his awareness up to if Chenle is genuinely becoming uncomfortable. They fit like any pair.
Peanut butter and jelly.
Salt and pepper
This and that, you get the whole situation.
Jisung dissolved into Chenle’s desired taste like any cube of sugar dispersed into its cup of tea. Chenle isn’t necessarily the one to pick the amount that enters his cup, but Jisung will always make sure that it fits his liking. “Cat’s got your tongue?” Jisung interrupts.
“No, I just hate wasting my breath on you.”
“Glad to know I took it away.”
Chenle rolls his eyes, “You obviously interpreted that wrong.”
The younger of the two backs down after the conversation flow shortly dies. On the outside, it seems as if Chenle is finally satisfied with their positions as Jisung is now quiet to where he is able to focus on his assignments. But, if he’s being honest, he wishes for Jisung to continue his rambling and snarky remarks as it keeps the light inside of him circuiting. Or more of, functioning . It’s a bit odd that Chenle’s shell makes many believe that he dislikes Jisung to the extent of how much hatred he can hold in his body. Of course, it’s ultimately false. Jisung’s personality and form of behavior is obviously different than his-and that’s what makes it nice to be around. it’s new and contrasting in the best way that he can ask for. He’s an overall walking contradiction, it’s amazing to what you hear and see when it comes from the Chenle. It’s a bit... funny . “You want me to speak, right?”
Chenle shifts in his seat, his eyes straying away from his paper and now placed onto Jisung. His eyes can speak for himself because Jisung is quite aware that Chenle has no intention of verbally admitting his wants. He’s that stubborn, but that's what Jisung loves about him. Because one day, he will be the person to make the Zhong Chenle confess his own desires when it comes to Jisung. (the real ones of course, not the ones that revolve around him shutting up.) “Hey,” Jisung calls. Which is somewhat unnecessary as Chenle’s attention was already on him. “Can I tell you something?”
“If it’s another random I love you, I already know.” But, another one would be nice to hear if Chenle’s being truthful with himself.
Jisung shakes his head, which somewhat disappoints Chenle. “You’re my cup of tea you know?” He says, which is an odd way of expressing his adoration for Chenle. But, it’s cute, new and different -of course, different is what Chenle loves about Jisung. “You always will be. Some days you’re a bit too bitter, too hot to where handling you is a bit of a struggle and always a surprise because a cup of tea is different every time.”
“You’re seriously comparing me to a cup of tea?” He tries to come off offended. It’s a bit tough as Chenle was enjoying his explanation to his compliment. He hopes he goes a bit further into depth with it although it was already clear as day to what he was attempting to say. “You’re so romantic.” His words come off sarcastic.
“I know, I’m glad my boyfriend loves having a cheesy partner.” Jisung comments and he isn’t wrong.
“ Funny , we agree with something for once.” Chenle replies back with his eyes squinted and Jisung leans in to surprise him-resulting in his eyes widening fully. The younger brunette grabs Chenle’s book. Mispressed sticky notes fall from the sheets, his pencil rattles against the wooden table as it drops from side to side until it’s stationary. And of course, Chenle is faced with the artificial light of the library’s bulbs being blocked by the sudden protection that seals their hidden kiss behind the flimsy pages. He kisses back, their noses touch and he is drawn in by the yearn of Jisung that boils in him. Jisung lightly tugs on his lower lip, his other hand reaches to grab onto his chin and their mold breaks after Chenle realizes that they are in a public place. He presses his palm against his open textbook to place it back down onto the desk. “I-I, you’re so stupid…”
“And you are too, for me .”
It takes a singular punch for Jisung to actually shut up and the pair to be kicked out of the library for making a ruckus as students had begun to stick their nose into their business. It’s alright though because Chenle walks out first with a smile concealed on his face as his chasing boyfriend, Jisung registers it from behind with the same following expression as well. Except, for him, he is never afraid to display his fondness for Chenle.
“You know I love you Le.” The nickname catches Chenle’s attention quickly and he stops. Jisung expects this and waits for him to turn around. “Really, you know that.”
Chenle finally turns around with a large sigh and his swooped materials in his hand almost fall. “I know. That’s one thing I’ll admit to you.”
“As expected.” Jisung shoves his fist into the pockets of his shorts, examining Chenle who has his chest puffed from the deep breath he has holding in that partner with the stern look in his eye. “One day Chenle, I will make that stubborn heart of yours tell me you love me. A form of agreement isn’t enough and I can’t keep spoiling you with sugar.”
“I never said you had to.” Chenle loves it and he knows Jisung hates it (in a playful matter of course). He merely can’t help but continue his difficult exterior as that dynamic was how Jisung fueled his personality.
“Will a kiss help?”
“No.” Well, maybe.
Jisung chuckles, cheeks feeling a bit sore as both corners of his lips could not bear the containment anymore. He presents his teeth fully, tearing down Chenle’s wall with the use of his own charms as he knew Chenle was always a sucker for his smile. “Okay, no kiss then if you say so.” He begins to walk forward as Chenle stands in the same position. When Jisung intersects into his way and is a couple of steps in front of him, Chenle grabs onto his forearm. Jisung raises a brow and makes eye contact with Chenle’s gripped fingers. He tilts his head as a way to question his actions.
“You change your mind quickly,” Jisung comments before pulling onto Chenle’s wrist to bring their lips together once again. Chenle drops everything, pressing his once filled hand into Jisung’s chest to keep himself stable. "It's cute to watch you know?" Is what he mutters in between.
Jisung’s not wrong this time, he is a bit troublesome to handle and their relationship reflects two conflicting puzzle pieces that oddly fit together somehow. And maybe Chenle, though, is sometimes wrong as he needs to fix the mindset of their positions in their relationship.
Because when he takes a deeper look into their partnership. It is Jisung who keeps himself stable. And maybe (or more likely), he who plays with the strings of patience when it comes to his boyfriend’s sanity.
