Chapter Text
Heejin woke up in another day in Stormwind ready to another day of training as a warrior with her best friend Hyunjin. Hyunjin was like always waiting for her in the entrance of the hall where they train while eating bread from the local bakery. They both joined army of the alliance when they were kids when they wanted to be something big for the alliance but they weren’t able to do any magic, so they joined it as a warrior and trained as a warrior since then. Heejin was so happy with that but Hyunjin to be honest, she just joined because of Heejin and no other motive, she doesn’t feel as a warrior, and she doesn’t feel as someone who will fight in a stupid war against the horde. But having the honor of see her best friend training everyday was her second favorite thing in her life, besides eating bread.
Hyunjin loves bread a lot, she love bread that much that she forgot her honor as a guard in training in order to be able to steal people gold without them noticing her and buy some bread with that. Heejin didn’t know about that of her friend even when Hyunjin always have bread but no money for other things.
“Well, Hyunjin, are you ready for another good day training? “ Heejin said, with a happy but calm tone. Hyunjin just nodded and stood up from the bench.
“By the way, can I eat a little of that bread I didn’t have a breakfast so im hungry” Heejin said in response to that low energy answer of her friend. Hyunjin cut the bread in 2 with her hands and gave the enthusiastic girl the smallest part.
-------------------------------
The training day was finish. The sun started to hide begin the horizon. Heejin was, like always, the best warrior and soldier of the training day, the generals actually compliment her skills.
“Hyunjin, do you want to do something today?” Heejin ask to the girl next to her.
“No, I just have to do something. Sorry” Hyunjin in a very suspicious way.
Heejin was surprised about the answers but not that much. Lately Hyunjin was being not doing things with her after training. But what is Hyunjin really doing in that time? In Heejin mind Hyunjin was training to be better than her. Although it was far from reality.
Hyunjin started her way to home. Or at least that is what Heejin thought. Hyunjin was walking near people to pickpocket them without them even notice, just to be able to buy another bread. Hyunjin stole 6 or 7 villagers without them noticing in just the way to the bakery. Hyunjin was so happy about that.
“Hey, you, come here” a vagabond called Hyunjin. She was scared but she knew the fact that a vagabond can’t fight a warrior in train as her. “Don’t be afraid, I know what you do, I can report you to the guards and you would be suspended from the army”. That really scared Hyunjin more.
“How do you know? Not even they realize about it” asked Hyunjin in a really timid way.
“Im a rogue, a pirate, a thief, and I see in you the quality of one; you are sigil as a black cat in the night. And you are training right? So you must be good with blades, swords and knifes” the vagabond said; making a timid smile on Hyunjin face.
“Why do you want to train me?” Hyunjin asked with confusion “Im a girl that you just meet”
“Im too old to steal, but I can tech you all what I know; you just have to give me some of the robbed money and having a mate from in the army is always good for a rogue” the homeless said in a tricky but convincing way “do you accept, right?” Hyunjin nod with a smile in the face.
“Well, tomorrow at this time of the night we will meet in the alley next to this street. Now go I want you to spend that money in what you wanted.” The guy said making Hyunjin running away like if nothing happened.
----------
The next day arrived and Hyunjin was very happy about it; she may be able to find her vocation. She was in the place that the vagabond said but she was alone. “Hey, I’m right here” someone said. Hyunjin turn around and see no one.
“What? Where are you? I can’t see you” Hyunjin said afraid.
“Just right here” the vagabond appear from the shadows.
“How can you do that?” Hyunjin ask
“Is something basic for a rogue and that would be our first lesson. You were pick pocking people without them noticing the action but a good thief is the one able to steal while none is noticing their presence and that is something that you will learn little…. How can I call you?”
“Call me Hyunjin sir, I’m ready for my first lesson sir, please teach me” Hyunjin begged “but how can I call you?”
“You can call me sir, a real rogue never told their true identity to none, not even to ally” exclaimed the rogue.
“well your first lesson is how to become “invisible” how to be one with the shadows, for that you have to adapt you posture something like this aaaaand them BOM become one with the shadow even in the day of the light you can mastering it” the old man teach and Hyunjin imitate what the man said become, almost, complete invisible.
“Well done, people usually learn that really slowly and you in the first try almost do it. Try again but focus more in being one with the shadows”. Hyunjin tried again now more focused on what she is doing and make her complete invisible. “Ok ok, now try to move, step by step, the shadow is fragile and a big move can make it disappear” the vagabond said; Hyunjin tried to do that but after a few steps the invisibility disappeared. “One more time and a talented girl like you would be able to run in Stormwind without anyone noticing” the teacher praised and was right Hyunjin tried again and now she is able to slowly move without breaking the invisibility. “Well done, that is for today but for tomorrow I would make you do some “homework” you have to steal 2 daggers, a one handed sword and a handgun or a hand bow” the rogue adds.
“Ok, but why do you need….” Hyunjin asked but realized that her teacher already leave the alley
---------
The next training lesson started, luckily Hyunjin was ready and stole all what she need from a room of the army that have a good amount of weapons of all kind. “I bring all what you asked for. Now answer me why do you need a gun?” Hyunjin ask to a wall because she can’t see her teacher.
None answer…
“Hey, don’t ignore my please” Hyunjin shout.
“COME ON I KNOW YOU ARE HERE RESPOND ME PLEASE” Hyunjin shout even louder.
“Hey sorry I was late I had to do something” the vagabond saw Hyunjin “wait… you thought that I was invisible again? HAHAHA what a dumb student I have” the vagabond laughs and hyunjin turn red in just a moment.
“Well change the topic. Why do you need a gun for a rogue?” Hyunjin ask.
“There is 3 styles of rogues, ones that are one with the shadow and go in and out of it in a moment, ones that are great with sword and use a gun for combo with it, and a rogue that use 2 daggers and assassinate an important target in the moment the fight start. But since I’m too cool and you are too talented I would teach you all three styles. Are you ok with it?” the teacher said and Hyunjin proudly nod at the compliment.
--------
Some months passed since Hyunjin started her double agent life as a warrior and rogue well actually as a rogue and acting as a warrior for her best friend and the army. She can’t understand how her friend didn’t realize about the how she was acting the last couple of months. But that wasn’t what concern Hyunjin but the mission that her teacher gave to her. She was requested to steal super special and tasty bread from a famous bakery of Gilneas (a near city that is also of the alliance) and this mission was the first that is not in her neighborhood.
The mission started really well. Hyunjin entered from a little hole in the big wall of Greymane none noticed that. The bakery was in the center of the city so she had to pass the whole bridge that divides the wall and the city. There were some guards in the bridge so Hyunjin crossed the bridge slowly and invisible.
“Hmmm I think I just see something” a guard said to the other guard in the other part of the bridge. Hyunjin felt the true terror, her heart almost stop beating because the panic. She though the mission was over and it just started.
“Nah, are you drunk again? Hopefully in this city protected with walls our job is kind of boring and you can drink without anyone noticing…” the other guard shout front the other side of the bridge while laughing. Hyunjin sighed in relief and then laughed a bit silently.
Hyunjin reached the bakery without any inconvenience, but then she realized that there was a guard in the door. So she had to use a little technique called “zap”, a little hit with the handle of her dagger that would put to sleep the guard for a few minutes and won’t leave sequels. She entered the bakery while invisible so she can pickpocket a few of the breads that are on a shelf. The young rogue went out of the bakery taking advantage that the guard was still sleeping on the floor. She already savored the bread with victory flavor even before eating it because the guards of the bridge are dumb so she can pass without mayor problem and she do and that was easier because it was already late in the night.
Hyunjin was already near the hole in the wall with her teacher watching her from that place with happy face when she suddenly listen a dog or what she thought was a doggie sound.
“Thieeeft woof you won’t escape woof” a big wolf man attacked Hyunjin with a claw in her leg and then tried to bite her. Hyunjin tried to defend herself with her daggers but she failed the attack. The old men saw this and instantly put her gun out and shoot the wolf man making the aggressor faith in the floor.
“Ok with have to run, the gun did so much noise and they will try to catch us” the vagabond said to Hyunjin when he saw his student blacked out and with a blood in her leg. “Never mind, I have to save us both in this case”.
------
Hyunjin woke up in the middle of the forest with her teacher at her side. “You are awake. That’s nice. Drink this, it would make you feel better and would heal your little wound” the vagabond said while giving a potion to the girl. “Well, the thing that attacked you was a worgen. I’m not sure but there is a legend that if a worgen bite you, you become one of them. So there is the chance but that is just a rumor and I’m not sure if the worgen bites you…” the apprentice put a really sad face while listening that. “Hey, don’t be sad, you did so well today and you can have the bread after all”. Hyunjin took the bread and eat it but still with a sad face. “Hurry up we have to move fast if you want to reach your house before your parents woke up” said the man while giving a hand to the still sad Hyunjin.
Some days passed and Hyunjin didn’t notice anything strange about her, so she thinks that the worgen didn’t bite her or is just a myth and worgen can’t infest people. And Hyunjin was ready for another test. Her teacher said that near the north of Stormwind there is a forest and a groups of bandits and Hyunjin because she is a good girl besides she is a thief she will fight them all and then make sure that they won’t come back.
The mission started. Hyunjin, while being watched by her professor, spotted the gang that she is supposed to fight, they were just 4 drunk guys that have a little camp in the middle of the forest. The girl went in stealth to the back of one and “zapped” the back of one and then backstabbed other of the bandits. The other 2 bandits tried to attack her but she moved like a shadow and dodged them all, just to throw some knives to this 2 bandits. Sadly these 2 bandits were still standing. And for more bad news the guy that she zapped woke up and gave Hyunjin a big punch in the back making her fly to a near tree from the strengths of that punch. Hyunjin was now complete defeated and watching the moon thinking “that’s all, my life now is ended”. But when she saw the moon she felt something, her moment was not coming and she will destroy her foes with her whole power. She stood up, rushed to a bandit and bit him in the stomach defeating that guy. The other 2 started to run with fear. Hyunjin ran after one and backstabbed him then she threw a knife to the other making the last bandit hit the floor. Hyunjin didn’t realize at first but she became a worgen during that fight and she won because of it. The girl was shocked sitting in the grass while watching watch she just did and how she did that. Hyunjin was completed devastated both physical and mental she seriously injured 4 guys that wasn’t the worst people in the world just bandits and she also is a worgen so she is a monster even worse than the bandits…
“Hey, are you ok?” the old rogue said. Hyunjin started to cry as if her last. “shhh don’t worry it already happened. It’s ok, the bandits are not dead, I would give those potions and they would be ok. Also you already become human again so you don’t have to worry about that” Hyunjin watch the face of her teacher with tons of tears in her face. “I know it’s hard to digest but you are strong. You will pass it” the vagabond finished calmly.
Some weeks passed and Hyunjin turned just 2 times into a worgen but both times she forced it so she could control it. Fortunally for her Heejin still not notice what was happening and the whole strange behavior of Hyunjin was not strange anymore to Heejin.
--------------------
Heejin woke up with a great energy because that day was special that day the king Varian was going to talk with the trainers of the army. “What could be the great notice?” Heejin said to herself “maybe the king would make us part of the army. And probably he will congratulate us for the hard working” the girl wonders.
The girl ran with great emotion to the entrance of the hall so she can meet her friend and the other trainers. But when she reached the hall she saw Hyunjin waiting for her in the entrance and a lot of people inside the hall, actually a ton of people.
“Hey, what happened? Who are the people that are in the hall?” Heejin asked surprised.
“The whole army of the alliance…” Hyunjin answered.
“Why is the whole army here?” Heejin asked but Hyunjin with a face of “I don’t even have any idea”
“I don….” Hyunjin tried to reply when both saw the king in the front of the whole army.
“Everyone, I reunited the whole alliance army here because I have an important announcement for the oncoming mission.” Varian shout, “The plague was so violent lately and it already reached Lordaeron. We must fight the plague and destroy the lich king because he is the one that made it. And that will prove the Horde that we are better than them, we are the once that fight for the good of Azeroth. Also you may notice that with us there are some new faces, that’s because I think that the new generation of people will be the heroes in this new history of the alliance. Tomorrow we will set sail to Northrend, so prepare be ready. Also tonight we will have a big feast for everyone here so we can give congratulations to the new soldiers of the alliance and have a great last meal.” The King shouted. Heejin looked at Hyunjin with the biggest smile she had ever seen. “Well that’s everything for today, take rest and be ready for the feast” The king finished.
Heejin gave Hyunjin a big and strong hug. “I’m so happy about it after all the hard work we finally do it, we are now part of the army.” Heejin said to Hyunjin remarking her happiness in every word Hyunjin still didn’t processed the announcement and all what that implied.
“Hey, I have to go home; do you want to meet before the feast?” Heejin added.
“Oh ok I will go to your house a little bit before the feast if you want” Hyunjin responded.
“OK see you teammate from the army” Heejin said before leaving the place quickly.
Hyunjin thought what is correct to do, she will spent tons of time with Heejin in dangerous mission. She should confess that she was training secretly to be a rogue but before that she should say good bye to her teacher. That great man that trained her until that day to became that good rogue that she is. So Hyunjin went to that place just to say goodbye.
“Hey Vagabond, do you heard the news? I need to talk to you” Hyunjin shouted in the alley where she trained.
“Oh girl, you are here. What’s happened? What’s the new?” The old rogue said.
“Well, I was finally recruited by the army and tomorrow we will set sail to Northrend” Hyunjin said in a sad way.
“That’s nice” The old rogue responded “you trained so hard and you wanted that the only sad thing is to say good bye”
“yeah, is sad to say good bye to a great man like you. But what will you do when I leave this place tomorrow” Hyunjin asked.
“I had a life before training you don’t worry for me” The vagabond added while giving a hug to Hyunjin.
“Can you say to me your name? I want to know if I ever meet someone that knows you” Hyunjin asked
“Don’t worry, my name is a secret to you but you are not a secret for my allies, they would find you, bye” The vagabond finished the sentenced a vanished as an art of magic. Hyunjin confused went to her house thinking on how she can tell Heejin that she is a rogue. But before talking to Heejin she would took a nap.
----
Hyunjin was ready to take Heejin to the feast patiently waiting at Heejin’s door.
“Hi are you ready for tonight feast and tomorrow mission?” Heejin exclaimed.
“Yes, but before that I have to tell you something” Hyunjin said shyly.
“Well, tell that I’m ready” Heejin added.
“Do you know what I was doing all nights for the last few months?” Hyunjin asked.
“Training for sure, you wanted to be the best warrior and you did your best, right?” Heejin wondered
“Half of that speech was true; I was training but not to be a warrior, to be a rogue. Sorry for not telling you it before but I though you won’t like that and now that we are going to do dangerous missions together I think is really important to you to know” Hyunjin revealed. Heejin looked confused at first but then she understood the whole sequence.
“Why didn’t you tell me that before? I love you so much I would never be angry for the choices you take in life Hyunjin, trust in me. I’m your best friend.” The warrior added. “Hurry up that the feast would start soon and we as novices we should be there earlier”.
The feast went great the both girls ate a lot of food. And they meted a lot of interesting people. They for sure will remember 2. A group of dwarf those were so drunk even before the feast started that where so fun. And a group of paladins specially one that was shocked because the age of this 2 girls saying that he have a little daughter that is only a year younger than them and she is not ready even a little bit for this.
-----
The day started fine; the alliance started the mission by ship. Hyunjin and Heejin traveled in the same ship but both of them just listened to the captains and some stories from the seniors. The travel was short; just 3 hours and they reached a port controlled by the alliance. The principal base was near that place just 5 minutes of walking and that. Hyunjin and Heejin set the trend so near the base in a place with 10 others trends (most of them other new recruits), the first week passed slowly with nothing interesting they just explore the area and fought some ghouls, but by the day 10 of the mission the alliance found a place where a lich was making a huge army to invade the alliance base. The alliance should fight that army before they were bigger so by the next day the alliance prepares most of the soldiers to fight that army. The 2 friends were set in the team 6 with other new recruits. They should fight some of the ghouls on the sides of the battlefield because it was the easier job. The alliance was formed with 5 groups in the frontline; with the veterans in the center to match the knights of the ebon blade, the rest of the army where next to them fighting the abominations and well new recruits at the sides fighting the ghouls. And of course the alliance wouldn’t be the alliance if they didn’t have a huge backline with tons of mages and priest.
While they were going to the battlefield with the correct formation Heejin realized that the group at their said would be the group of paladins that they meet in the feast.
“Hey, you two are the girls that we meet in the feast right? The ones that have my daughter age right?” a paladin said to Heejin and Hyunjin
“Yes” respond both at the same time
“Oh haha, you two look nervous, don’t worry, we would protect you both. We promise that you 2 will return alive like everyone else here” the paladin said in a really friendly and positive way
“Ok” Heejin said “we trust in your powerfull skills of paladin, but you don’t need to protect. We are just going to fight some stupid ghouls”.
The battle started, everything was going well for the Heejin and Hyunjin. Their group was able to kill the ghouls faster than the spawn time that ghouls have mostly because of Heejin. She could kill one or ghoul per strike with her sword and stop the others with her shield. Hyunjin just had to assassinate the ones that Heejin stop with her shield, the other 3 members of the group just watched them doing that and sometimes they fought some other ghouls that didn’t attack Heejin. Everything looks ok for the group and for the alliance itself. Heejin was fighting 3 ghouls when she so the lich from the other side of the battlefield throwing a huge blizzard to the soldiers from the next group freezing them all to death. Heejin saw this and how the abomination were now advancing to the backline of the alliance, if that amount of abominations reached the backline everyone in the alliance would die and they would have no chances to win.
“I HAVE TO DEFEND OR WE WILL FAIL” Heejin shouted to their group and started running to the abomination
“Wait” Hyunjin shouted to her but Heejin didn’t listened. “Ok, I’m going with her, retain the ghouls” Hyunjin said to the group mates.
Heejin was fighting alone against 5 or 6 abominations at the same time and that’s something that no one can do easily and she was doing her best and her best was enough to fight time.
Hyunjin was at her side trying to kill some abominations that Heejin could hit with her sword.
“This is not enough” Heejin said to herself “I need to kill them faster” she said when she saw that some abominations are going to the backline ignoring her. Heejin threw her shield to an abomination and picked a sword from a death body. “I don’t need a shield if I can’t protect with it” she said to the abominations that of course can’t understand her. Then she charge to the middle of the enemies and start a chain of attacks with both swords to the abomination heavily wounding them.
A corpse of an abomination had hit the floor when Heejin spotted a knight of ebon blade ignoring the frontline and trying to reach the backline from her side.
“HYUNJIIIN” Heejin shouted while still attacking the abomination “I have to stop it, you are in charge of the abominations” Heejin charged to the black armored enemy and then hit it with a big strike, the knight was confused and looked at the little warrior that just hit him.
“Oh, a little girl, I admire your courage but you are not enough to stop a knight of ebon blade and less enough to fight a horseman” the knight said to Heejin.
“You don’t know who I am” Heejin said and proceed to attack.
In other side of the battlefield Hyunjin was trying to deal with the abominations but was not enough, in the time she kill two, three new ones spawn and at that rate she would be overwhelmed soon. “I didn’t want to, but I have to if I want to protect Heejin.” Hyunjin though and then transform into her wargen form. She continued fighting killing the abominations a little bit faster and being fast enough to dodge almost all attacks from them.
Heejin was fighting so well against the dark knight, unluckily she didn’t hit him but her swords clashed against their sword lot of times and she dodged all the magic that the knight used. Suddenly both fighters noticed a radiant flash. It was a big pyroblast casted from tons of mage from the alliance that travelled from the backline of them to the lich in the backline of the foes killing the lich in a moment.
“Yes” Heejin shouted while still clashing her blades against the knight.
“Don’t celebrate early, you are still l against me” the knight of the ebon blade said calmly while throwing a frozen spell to the young girl’s feet, freezing them and making her no able to move. The warrior without her feet did all what she could defending herself but it was not enough, with a combo of 3 strikes the death knight make one of Heejin’s blades to fly in the air, making the little warrior to just use 1 blade. Heejin tried to find someone in the battlefield that could help her in this mortal situation but she wasn’t able to spot any ally not even Hyunjin. That made Heejin really nervous and a warrior nervous would always fail…
With an incredibly strike the knight broke the other blade and then stabbed Heejin. The big sword was now embedded in the girl’s body going through it, making the girl suffering a lot and losing a lot of blood.
“Please, someone save me, I didn’t my best, don’t left me behind” Heejin said with one of her latest breaths but none can hear. The girl with blurred vision so a big dragon attacking the alliance and she could hear some screams and someone from the alliance saying “recall” and something like that. “Please don’t late me die here, I’m still alive someone please” Heejin said with now her last breath. But the little of energy she had in her agonizing body she touched the boot of someone.
“Oh, you are still alive; you fought so well, the lich king would like to have someone like you in his army.” The same knight that defeated Heejin said lifting her and putting her in his horse.
Hyunjin heard the shout of the alliance recalling, so she decided to escape, if they realized that she is a wargen they would kill her or imprison her. The wargen ran to a cave in the middle of the frozen tundra, the place was complete dark but was ok to take a little break here and go back to human form. After all she deserved a break, she fought well, but not that well as Heejin that was probably, in Hyunjin opinion, the hero of the battle. The now human girl was eager to see again Heejin and be able to congratulation her.
Hyunjin was back in the camp when a guard said “Ey, Hyunjin, you are alive, we though you died in the battle, that’s great”.
“I chased a knight of the ebon blade to fight him but I could not so I stopped in a cave to rest”. Hyunjin said without a single expression in her face.
“We thought that Heejin was with you” the guard said.
“Wait isn’t Heejin here? Where is she?” Hyunjin ask confused.
“Well, we thought she was with you but since she is not she is probably death… Sorry for telling you this” the guard said in a sad tone.
“You are kidding, right?” Hyunjin adds while her voice cracks.
“I would like to be kidding but I’m not, but well, you know, war works in that way. One day you are training with friend and the next one you are dead inside the snow of Northrend” the guard said as if he just said something normal. Hyunjin heard that and sited on the ground just to start crying silently.
“Sorry kid, but that is how this world works, tons of people died yesterday and after all she was a just a novice. She was not that important for the victory against the lich king”. The guard said to a still devastated Hyunjin.
“I saw that novice fight 7 abominations all by her own and win, I saw that novice fight a horseman just to protect the backline. If we won yesterday is because of her and nobody else.” Hyunjin sobbed.
A group mate of the both girls reached Hyunjin. He just hugged Hyunjin and started crying.
“This lich king just took your friend like if she was nothing, we would take revenge for her” the guy whispered to Hyunjin while sobbing.
“I know Theo, we will kill the lich king, I promised” Hyunjin added.
------
Some days passed and Hyunjin and the rest fighted against some minor enemies. The war was calmed but there was just 2 weeks until the day that people would invade the Icecrown citadel to kill the lich king and finish the plague. The horde and the alliance were competing to be the best at stopping the plague but they realized that doing this they could win against the lich king so they decided to make a tournament between all soldiers of both factions to discover the 20 best fighters of each group to invade the citadel and kill the lich king.
“The tournament is in 2 days, are you in Hyunjin?” Theo asked to a just woke up Hyunjin.
“Yes, if I want to kill the lich king I must win the tournament.” Hyunjin respond as if that was nothing hard to do.
“I hope I can win the tournament too, I want to help you in your mission to revenge Heejin, but I don’t think I can follow your steps and win that tournament, I’m just an average paladin, not even a silverhand member.” Theo said with anguish in his mouth. Hyunjin noticed that but she could not say anything, in the end she knew that he is not good enough to be part of those elite. Well, she wasn’t even sure if she was good enough, but the fact that she had to be good to take revenge for her best friend was enough to give her the enough power to fight.
----
The tournament started and Hyunjin was able to reach the top 5 easily. She defeated tons of people with her 2 daggers with no problem, she was focused in not transform into a wargen during the tournament that she can’t do her best but it was enough. Meanwhile Theo struggled to reach the top 50 but he somehow did it, it looked like the horde didn’t have great fighters. The first phase of the tournament was over and a big trial started. All 50 best had to fight Lord Jaraxxus, an ancient demon that most of azeroth was afraid of and the one who corrupted the prince Arthas the actual lich king.
Jaraxxus was a real challenge besides it was a 50 vs. 1 Jaraxxus could fight them and kill someone and nobody wants to have kills in their lines during just a trial.
Hyunjin was somehow one of the top DPS of the fight and Theo was doing good both in healing and damaging Jaraxxus.
When the big demon was ready to be defeated a big dragon attacked the front door of the arena where the tournament was hold. It was Sindragosa but icy dragon wasn’t there to fight, but to transport the Lich King into the arena.
“Bring together all my enemies in an arena next to my throne and think I won’t come was a stupid plan, I know that the alliance without their prince are idiots and the horde is even fools, but even with the elite of both factions you won’t win against the power that the Frostmure (his enchanted sword) give me” The lich king shout.
Theo was in the side of the armored villain so he tried to do a sneaky attack. He jumped while swinging his hammer trying to reach his enemy head but he was somehow stopped in the middle of the air. The lich king made a whole frozen pillar with Theo in it.
“Ooh, stupid paladin, do you really think that you can surprise me?” the lich king said then struck the ice pillar with his sword breaking it in 1 million pieces and Theo too.
Hyunjin got frozen as if the lich king attacked her, she could barely stay standing on her feet.
“Well, I see that anybody have the guts to fight me so fight the atrocity that lives under this arena” the lich said and thrust the sword in the ground breaking it and throwing all the participants of the tournament inside a cave. That cave had some nerubians and in the depths was visible the king of nerubians, Anub’arak. Hyunjin was destroyed inside but she had to win this fight to take revenge and she did. She, with the help of all the people that was in the cave, was able to kill Anub’arak and the rogue was in the eyes of everyone due to her skills to fight.
-----
The king Varian appeared in the camp of the alliance with the list of the 20 chosen to invade the citadel. Hyunjin name was in there as the principal damage dealer of the group. This notice was supposed to make Hyunjin happy but she still felt sad for the death of her best friend and a close friend, both in less than a month. Also what make Hyunjin even sadder is that nobody in the alliance tried to comfort her even when she was the “Hero of the crusader tournament”. And was she supposed to fight for the alliance? To die for them like Heejin did? That’s was a question that Hyunjin made to herself every time she was alone. She knew that nobody cares about her but about her fighting skills. Thinking about this made her feel even more insecure.
“What if I fail? What if I couldn’t defeat the lich king? What they will do? Or if I transform into a wargen they would be able to realize that I’m not a monster? But I cannot fail. I have to take revenge… for Heejin… for Theo… “Hyunjin wondered while she is in her bed. “That’s the answer, I’m not fighting for the alliance, and I’m fighting for Heejin and Theo, not for anybody else.”
-----
Heejin woke up. She saw some figures talking some meters in front of her.
“Oh she finally woke up, I thought that she would be able to be in the mortal world again” one of the figures gets near to Heejin. It was a death knight a knight of the ebon blade to be more specific. The girl tried to get up but she wasn’t able.
“Don’t try to get up. Just rest a little bit more; I will give you some food”. The ebon blade’ knight said to a so confused but weak Heejin.
“Eat this” the knight give the girl a piece of chicken.
“Where am I? Why am I here? Am I alive?” Heejin ask.
“You are in the Acherus, the Ebon Hold, and the central floating base of the death knights. You are here because the lich king revived you and made you a death knight. And yes, you are alive, well, as a death knight so your brain is still alive but your body was resurrected so you died and came back from death”. The man answered.
“But why the lich king revived me?” the girl ask with more confusion.
“I saw you agonizing in the cold snow after your epic fight against one of my teammates. The alliance abandoned you and I won’t let a strong and brave warrior die in that way. So I took you to the lich king to make him revive you and put you in our army. By the way, my name is Darion Mograine, the leader of the horseman” Darion responded.
“I won’t fight for the lich king. I would kill that monster” Heejin responded out of anger.
“You don’t have to. A lot of things happened since you died”
“how many time took me to wake up” Heejin interrupt.
“Just two weeks”. The other death knight said while getting near to the lying warrior.
“You. You are the one I fought to” the now undead human remember.
“Yes, you fought really well; I have to admit that I thought I won’t win you. And you can call me Baron Rivendare”.
“As I was explaining, the death knights revealed against the lich king and now we are a new organization, a neutral one, one that fights for Azeroth”. Darion finished what he was talking about.
Heejin tried to get up again but a big pain made her lay again.
“I have to be strong, I have to fight the lich king, the Alliance needs me, Hyunjin needs me” the girl agonized ones again.
“You have to rest, and you have to train as a death knight now, I will be your master. Also, the alliance or the horde won’t let you fight; they are not with us yet. Also, don’t worry about it, I saw your friend fight too and she can defeat the lich king.” Darion respond.
-----
The big day finally arrived, the day when Hyunjin would take revenge for her friends. The chosen group was ready in the front door of the icecrown citadel. They started to revise quickly the strategy to defeat the lich king and then they enter the citadel.
The first room was a very wide and long corridor; Hyunjin was able to see some undeads in it and a big room in the end with a big monster made of bones, the Lord Marrowgar. The group cleaned the first half of the corridor and then called the rest of the army to enter in it. The second half of that corridor was a little bit harder due to the amount of skeletons, lichs and nerubians that were in there. But they kill them without problems and they are not face to face with Lord Marrowgar. The bone monster was strong with his ability to impale foes but wasn’t not enough to destroy the group or kill one of the members. The first big enemy was down and they were only in the citadel for 30 minutes, but in the next room they found a lich, Lady Deathwhisper, with an army of acolytes. The battle took so long, they thought they would be defeated against the infinite army of the lich, and her frozen barrier but in the end they were able to overwhelm the shield and defeat her, most of the work thanks to Hyunjin and her ability to destroy all enemies summoned by Lady Deathwhisper.
The group were able to reach the second plant of the citadel, and here they fought an undead orc, son of the general of the horde, but controlled by the lich king. The fight was savage and 2 members of the group die. However they are know in the high part of the citadel, basically the place under the frozen throne, where the Lich King is. They found an elevator in the middle but it was closed and locked with 3 keys. And there were 3 rooms so of course they would have to kill them all.
They firstly went to the left side of the citadel. The plagueworks, were professor Putricide were. They defeated 2 big abominations with the form of a dog and then they fought Rotface, a big and warp abomination, which in surprise of everyone, was crying. They started the fight as soon as they entered in the room. While the abomination shout “you monster you killed my poor pet, Preciousness” they fight was easy, it was like fight a little child, but a very tough one. Suddenly in the middle of the fight, Rotface sat on the floor and started crying “I need my dad, daddy, help me please, this bad guys are killing me, help me”. In that moment Hyunjin realized, it could be an abomination but in the inside is just a child, they were killing a child so she start saying everyone to stop fighting, to let the abomination live, but nobody listened to Hyunjin and kill it. They advance to the next room were another abomination called Festergut was angry because his little brother and his dogs are now dead. The fight was not harder than the last one but this one fought until the end. Finally they fought the professor Putricide without any problems and they took the first key.
Then the group went to the crimson hall well they fought the three crimson princes and then the Blood-Queen Lana’Thel. Both fights took 3 others lives, but they are finally in the last part until the lich king. Yet, they had to fight sindragosa.
The fight against the big frost wyrm was savage; everyone thought the fight was lost but in the last moment Hyunjin stabbed vertebra of the dragon defeating it, with several death in the group, but the group was still ready for what is next.
The moment that Hyunjin waited for was coming; they were now going to the frozen throne with some reinforcement. The rogue that lost friends and teammates was now in front of a big chair made of ice on the top of the citadel. And there he was, the black armored knight that she revenged fury with a burned and chained man in the top of the throne. She was not alone, other 19 elite soldier like her was there, and the leader of paladins, Tirion Vadin. But the leader of the paladins was not able to fought at all because as soon as they reached the Lich King, the death knight frozen the paladin. The fight was savage, with the lich king being an unbreakable knight that combines both, plague and ice for a continuous amount of damage that a normal fighter could never resist.
“STOP” the lich king shout. “You all fight well, you are the elite of Azeroth, but you are not enough for the lich king” the lich kings stuns everyone in room and start to choke them all with a powerful spell.
“No, I didn’t reach this place for nothing, I will vengeance my friends” Hyunjin though. Then the girl broke free from the spell and turned into a wargen to start the final fight. The daggers of Hyunjin clashed many times with the big frostmourne but some hits went through it and hit the big armored knight but her stabs was like nothing for him. Suddenly the lich king connected an attack against the heroine pulling her to the edge of the platform.
“It’s over, I win” The lich king said.
“No, Light bless me one more time, I will destroy the lich king” Tirion shout from inside the ice cube he is trapped. Suddenly a light melt the ice and enchant Tirion’s sword in order to kill the lich king, Tirion attacks and everything is over, the lich king is dead.
The teammates of Hyunjin see her with fury. “You are a wargen, a monster, you are not a hero, and you should die like the lich king” one said. Hyunjin exhausted can’t respond anything just wait to be executed for being a wargen.
“Wait, I will take charge of the wargen” Tirion said while slowly walking to Hyunjin.
“Now, vanish, escape, you are a hero” Tirion whispered to Hyunjin. The girl just nodded and vanished from the place.
Hyunjin started to roam around Azeroth knowing that she didn’t have any place to come back…
----
“Heejin, I have good news for you, the lich king is dead and both, the horde and the alliance accepts people from the ebon blade so you can come back to Stormwind with your friend”. Darion said in a friendly tone.
“Thanks for the info, Darion, I have to go to Stormwind now, see you soon”. Heejin reply happily.
Heejin took a portal to reach Stormwind fastly, in there she started to ask for Hyunjin but nobody saw her after she they left that city to fight the lich king some months ago. Having 0 information about her friend made Heejin a little worried but she had the hope of finding her. And she knew who could now about her, Tirion Vadin, someone that surely fought against the lich king. And thinking that Heejin rushed to the palace were Tirion always was.
“Tirion, do you know where is Hyunjin?” Heejin ask.
“Oh, you are Heejin, right? But you are a death knight now. Unluckily I have a bad news for you, Hyunjin is death. She died fighting the lich king. But if she wasn’t there we could never defeat him.” Tirion lamented.
“Thank you” Heejin sobbed while opening a portal to Acherus.
“Hey, you are back” Darion said. “I thought you would stay in that city for more time.
“Hyunjin, my friend, is dead; I have nothing to do in that place” Heejin Sobbed. “I have nothing to do besides training with you and make sure that the lich king doesn’t bring problems again to Azeroth, so the death of Hyunjin is not an empty lost”.
----
“Hey, are you Hyunjin right?” a shadow ask to the girl.
“Yes…” Hyunjin answered doubtfully.
“I’m Valeera Sanguinar, one of the shadows, member of the uncrowned and I want you to join us” the blood elf appeared from the shadows while talking with the wargen.
“What?” Hyujin asked.
“Don’t ask anything just come with me, you don’t have better plans, don’t you?” The tall elf jokes while opening a portal with a stone “come with me.” She said while crossing the portal, Hyunjin followed her.
----
Hyunjin was now in a city she was never being before, but it looked like Dalaran, the city of mages. The girl looks amazed the tall towers with that purple gem in the top, typically of the Dalaran’s architecture.
“This way” the elf said, while waiting Hyunjin in the entrance of a little shop.
Inside the shop Valeera showed the seller an insignia and the seller opened a secret passage that was behind a shelf. Both girls entered the passages and then it got closed again.
“This places sucks” Hyunjin said “literally, its smells really bad, oh, there are the sewers of Dalaran, couldn’t your super secret organization find a better places?”
They reached a little room made of wood with a long table in the middle and some people in it.
“Please take sit Hyunjin” Valeera said.
“Welcome to the uncrowned Hyunjin. An organization of rogues, we are the slayers of kings, the downfalls of empires, the unseen blades that write the true history of this world” a man said from the other side of the table. “And we know your true history, in the Icecrown citadel and your past in Stormwind, your master told us about you”.
“Ok, so that vagabond that never told me his name, actually told about me with some important people, wait, are you important? I don’t know who you are” Hyunjin replied with a monotone tone.
“I’m Lord Jorach Ravenholdt, the leader of the shadow council, the leaders of the uncrowned,
and your trainer was right, you are really brave, answering in that way to someone like me is something that everyone would doubt about doing.” The man responds.
“Ok, and where is him? You mentioned him 3 times and I can’t see him anywhere” Hyunjin asked with curious.
“Well, he is not with us anymore, but he gave us something to you” A girl from the left side of the table answered “I’m Tess Greymane, the princess of Gilneas.”
“But after receiving your gift, we have to know if you want to be part of the uncrowned, we know that you don’t have a place to go and we can use your power to made Azeroth a better world.” Jorach said.
“And if you reject the offer we would kill you” a female orc from the right side added.
“I have to accept, I want to make Azeroth and the alliance a better place, and I can’t make it alone. I need you too” Hyunjin answered sincerely.
“Ok, so this is yours” Valeera handle an insignia exactly the same that Valeera showed to the seller before.
“And this” Tess gave her a box.
Hyunjin opened the box and she saw a note and 2 daggers.
The note said:
“Dear Hyunjin:
I really enjoyed teaching you my techniques as rogue to you, a skilled apprentice, I’m sorry for die that suddenly but my days were counted even before meeting you. I leave you in the good hands of the uncrowned, they can teach you a lot from this world (even were the better bread is). So there they are, my daggers, the powerful Kingslayers, Anguish and Sorrows, please use them wisely for the good of Azeroth, and not doubt about using them for what they were created, killing kings that are bad for our world
Att: Your favorite vagabond”
The girl cried and laughed at the same time while reading the note.
“Why are you laughing?” Tess asked.
“That old man died without told me his name” Hyunjin sobbed
“And he made us promise to him about not telling you” Tess joked.
“Nah, she is joking, we don’t even know the real name of that bastard” Jorach said.
----
Some years passed and Hyunjin with the uncrowned worked from the shadows to change Azeroth, Hyunjin worked hard with Tess to made an alliance between the Alliance and Wargen, due to the infection over all Guilneas, they made it just a year after Hyunjin joining them.
While in other place in the big Azeroth, Heejin trained with Darion Mograine, becoming a really skillful death knight, able to control the plague, the ice and the blood at the same time, something that just a few death knights are able to do. But because she never left Acherus since her last time in Stormwind nobody beside some death knights knew about her strength.
----
“Hello” a hologram of a dwarf appeared in front of Heejin. “I’m Magni Bronzebeard, I’m the messenger of Azeroth, and Azeroth chose you as a champion of Azeroth, one of the chosen to defend this planet from the imminent corruption that the recent events leads us to.”
“Why this universe does choose me? Isn’t this an error?” Heejin responded
“This earth is wise; they chose you because they know your power. I’ll be waiting you in the chamber of heart in Silithus”. The hologram disappeared.
“You must go” Darion, who watched the entire scene, said.
And Heejin left Acherus just to go to Silithus.
----
“Hello”. A hologram of Magni appeared in the center of the table where the shadows command. “I’m the messenger of Azeroth, I’m here to announce that Hyunjin was selected by Azeroth to be one of the Champion of Azeroth due to her skills. I announce it in this way so you, the shadows can protect her until this world needs her”.
“Oh, someone acknowledges my effort, first time that this happened” Hyunjin jokes, “How am I sure that you are not an impostor to sabotage us”
“I know him” Valeera said “He is Magni Bronzebeard, he is not lying, you should obey what he said, wait here until the moment”.
