The Beginning of the Rest of our Lives
Raelle looked at herself in the mirror, checking if everything was perfect for what must have been the millionth time. Her hands were shaking slightly, and her heart was beating faster then it ever did. Her nerves kicking in after glancing at the clock. It was almost time.
“Jesus Shitbird if you don´t calm down you´re going to have a heart attack and I really don´t want to be the one who tells Scylla that news so could you please not do that? Thank you!” Abigail said from her seat across from Raelle. At the beginning the Bellweather found it incredibly funny to see her friend get more nervous with every hour that had gone by but know she was seriously concerned that the blond would really get a heart attack. She just hoped that Tally would be back soon because she was much better at comforting Raelle and calming her down than she would ever be.
“It´s not so easy to calm down if your minutes away from taking the biggest step of your whole live Bells and why the hell is Tally taking so long? Do you think something is wrong? Should I go look? I should go and check right?” Raelle started to ramble.
Abigail was about to open her mouth in an attempt to calm the blond down when the door opened, and Tally entered the room. So instead of comforting Raelle, the brunette just looked desperately at the red head and spoke
“Do something, please. She is freaking out and needs you because I can´t dealt with that” she finished while pointing accusingly at the blonde.
“Yeah, I can see that. I got this. If you want, you can go and find Adil. He´s looking for you anyway.” The red head replied. Abigail mouthed a quick thank you before disappearing through the door, leaving her friends alone.
As soon as the door closed Tally turned around and made her way over to Raelle, placing her hands on her shoulders in order to comfort her. She watched her friend for a few seconds before she finally began to speak.
“Everything is ready. I checked it all myself and it looks perfect. I even looked after Scylla just like you asked me too.”
“How is she holding up? I guess better than I am right now.” Raelle said with a little chuckle which Tally returned.
“She´s counting the minutes. She can´t wait to get out there and see you. She is nervous but most of all she is absolutely happy. Plus, she looks fantastic. You really picked a good one, Rae.”
“Yeah, I really did. I still can´t believe this day is finally here. I mean can you believe it? I´m getting married to the love of my life in less than fifteen minutes.” The blonde replied.
“I know, it´s crazy but both of you waited so long for this day so why don´t you take a deep breath and stop overthinking everything? The red head said.
“I´m trying but I want this to be as perfect as it can be because that is what she deserves. I don´t want her to be disappointed in any way.”
“What are you talking about? Rae, she could never be disappointed. She doesn´t care if everything is perfect, because everything she needs is you. All that truly counts today is the love you two share for each other.”
“Thank you, Tal” the blonde said and hugged her best friend. When they separated the red head smiled brightly at the blonde.
“You’re Welcome, now take a deep breath and calm yourself down because it´s time for us to get out there.” Said the red head.
Raelle closed her eyes and took a deep breath, preparing herself but to her surprise that was easier than she thought. Now that it was time, she felt this peace settle inside of her, something she only feels when Scylla is involved. She was ready to do this, ready to see her bride. She was absolutely ready to finally call the ocean eyed beauty, her wife. So, when she opened her eyes all she could do was smile at Tally before she said
“Let´s go, I´m ready to marry the woman of my dreams.”
“Then we shouldn´t keep her waiting.” Tally replied.
Raelle exited the beach house with Tally by her side. The blond was extremely thankful that Abigail´s family allowed them to celebrate their wedding on their property. The beach house was incredible but the fact that there was a huge beach right in front of their porch made it even more amazing. Raelle took a moment to take everything in and she had to say Tally was right, everything looked perfect.
The decorations were kept simple and perfectly fit together with the little altar that was build on the beach and the little spot were a few chairs were standing. Raelle and Scylla both knew from the start that they wanted to keep the ceremony and the guestlist small. The most important people, the once closest to them, were there and that was everything they needed.
Besides the small celebration there was one thing, the most important thing for Raelle, she wished for and that was the venue. Since the moment Scylla told her about a trip to a beach with her parents when she was younger and how much it meant to the brunette, Raelle immediately had the idea of a wedding at the beach. When she talked to Scylla about it and saw that happiness in her eyes, she knew that she had to talk to Abigail about it. After working with the Bellweather for years she knew that her family got a property that would be perfect. To her surprise Abigail quickly told her that she would talk to her mom and make sure that they could celebrate there. Just like always the Bellweather didn´t disappoint.
Without even really noticing Tally and Raelle had made their way to the altar. Only a couple more minutes until she would finally see Scylla in her dress. Just a little bit longer until Scylla would be her wife. A huge smile formed on the blondes face at that thought.
She looked at Tally, who would be the one to marry them, and shot her a smile, signaling her that she was more than ready. A second later the music started to play, and everyone got quiet. They automatically turned around so they could see how Scylla would walk down the aisle.
When Raelle saw Scylla in her dress, looking absolutely breathtaking, she forgot about everyone. The only thing she could see was her beautiful soon to be wife walking towards her with that smile that Raelle loved so much.
Before Scylla reached Raelle, the blonde took the last few steps towards the brunette and held out her hand. The moment Scylla took it, Raelle kissed it gently, a soft and loving smile forming on her face. She looked at the brunette and together they took the last steps towards Tally, who was already fighting against her tears, but the red head quickly collected herself. She still had a job to do.
“Please, take a seat.” Tally addressed the short group of guests. She waited a few seconds before she continued.
“Today, we are here to witness how these two gorgeous looking women take the next step in their lives together. The moment Scylla stepped into Raelles life everyone around her could immediately sense the change in her. I knew Raelle for a while before Scylla and I have to admit that it was not easy to befriend her. She was a complete pain in the ass” the red head said with a little chuckle before continuing, “but with Scylla that changed. I´m glad that it did because now she is one of my closest friends, and I guess I´m too considering she asked me to do this job today.”
Laughter erupted after Tally said that, but it quickly got quiet again, so she spoke up again.
“I remember how Raelle told me about you for the first time Scylla. It was one of the first times she really opened up to me actually but when she started to tell me about you, I knew that she was already falling in love with you. There is a special glow around her, she only got when you are around or when she talks or thinks about you. That hasn´t changed and I´m pretty sure that it never will. Your relationship was not easy when it began, both of you went through a lot where others would have just given up, Soulmate or not, but not you two. No matter what happened or how worse the situation seemed to be you sticked together. But now, it´s time for me to stop talking because I know you both prepared your own vows. Raelle, I think you wanted to start?” the red head finished her little monologue.
“Yes, thank you Tal” said Raelle before she looked at Scylla again, taking her other hand on hers as well.
“Scyl, the moment I met you and looked into your beautiful eyes for the first time, something in me changed. I immediately knew that you were special but never in a million years I would have thought that you would turn out to be my Soulmate. You stepped into my life at a point where I was not doing good. I basically gave up but then you showed me that life could be beautiful. You broke down the walls I had build one by one and captured my heart. Right from the beginning you proved that you were someone I could count on and that you would not go away. Even with all the stupid decisions I made, for which you could understandably have dumped me, you stay with me. You helped and supported me with everything and shown me nothing but pure and unconditional love. I´m still trying to figure out what I did to deserve your love. Luckily, I have the rest of my lifetime for that. I don’t know what the future will have in store for us, but I know that no matter what it is, I will be okay because I have you by my side. You are my home, Scylla. You always have been. No matter what, I love you.” The blonde finished her vow.
When the blonde saw the tears on Scylla’s face she quickly whipped them away and smiled softly at the brunette. Scylla took a deep breath in order to collect herself and be able to speak.
“You know I told myself that I would not cry, that I could keep myself together. I really should have known that you would make that impossible, Babe.” Scylla started her little speech with a chuckle before she continued “When I came to you that night, we officially met the first time, I never thought that I would lose my heart to you. I just wanted to meet the person who saved my life and thank her properly. I remember the moment you turned around and I locked eyes with you for the first time. You took my breath and heart away, even if I didn´t understood that in that moment. I know now that I already was falling in love with you. Out start may have been a little bumpy but I don’t regret one second and I wouldn´t change a thing about it because even if it was hell at some points it is part of our story and that story led us here today. No matter what, I love you. Everything I am and everything I will ever be is yours. I found my home in you, Raelle.” The brunette finished her vow and quickly whipped a tear away.
Both women just looked at each other, eyes full of love, forgetting about everything that was going on, before they got pulled back into reality by Tally.
“You got the rings?” Tally asked them both, which they quickly answered with yes so, the red head continued.
“Raelle Collar, do you take Scylla Ramshorn to your beloved wedded wife, in health and sickness, in the good and the bad, until death do you part?
“I do.”
“And do you Scylla Ramshorn take Raelle Collar to your beloved wedded wife, in health and sickness, in the good and the bad, until death do you part?”
“I do!”
“Then it is my honor to pronounce you wife and wife! You may kiss the bride.” Tally said with a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes.
As soon as Tally finished, Raelle pulled Scylla into her arms and kissed her.
The small group of guests erupted into loud cheering which caused the newlyweds to separate for a moment.
“Are you ready for the beginning of the rest of our lives, Mrs. Ramshorn-Collar?” Raelle asked lovingly.
“With you by my side, always. I love you baby” Scylla replied before pulling Raelle in for another kiss.
