Chapter Text
"Feel free to use any bending you feel fit, Avatar" Azula assures him as they got ready to fight "are you sure?" He left his fighting position to stare at the woman who was still in a firm fighting stance.
"I don't mind only using fire" he quickly returns back to his fighting stance as she bends a blast of blue fire his way. "You would prove no threat with only fire bending, I insist, use any bending you feel necessary."
A hour later the Avatar raised his hand in surrender "I expected at-least another hour out of you" she provokes him as she packed away her belongings.
She felt his instant response when her pill bottle dropped out her bag, the air thickening. They stood their for a minute before he spoke "did you um?" He points to the anti depressant on the floor.
Her temper flared at his question "do you believe I can't take simple pills, Avatar?" She jabbed his chest with her sharp red nails the exact two she uses to lightning bend "t-that's not what I meant."
He let out a small breath when she removed her nails above his heart. He watched as she grabbed the bottle of pills off of the floor while he contemplated his next words hoping not to anger her more than he already had "Zuko said to tell you to come to his office when we finish sparring."
Instead of replying she ignored him and started taking off her armor putting it away. Before he could try to start up a conversation again Katara walked in immediately earning a scowl from Azula. "You finished sparing yet baby?" She says as she kisses him, he nodded letting her know he finished.
They broke the kiss and Kataras immediately bending water out her water skin to heal the wound Azula created on his arm.
Before she exited the room she looked back at the annoyingly perfect couple only to see the avatar staring directly back at her with nothing but pity in his eyes which only annoyed the woman even more.
*
She stormed into the fire lords office not surprised to see the his Kyoshi body guard standing near him, helping him with his paper work. "You called Zuzu?" She used the nickname he's become used to over the many years.
"Azula" he sighs "I need your help" he hated asking the narcissistic girl for help knowing she'll never forget about it and most importantly never allow him to forget about it, especially when it comes to fire lord problems.
"Yea I got that much from you demanding my presence" she hissed making the fire lord flinch "I did not demand your presence, I requested it" he argued back.
She knew he was right of course however something about angering her older brother made her happy and she needed cheering up at the moment.
"You might as well have" she fights back a smirk as he stands up and hit his hand against his desk, she was about to claim victory until the pesky kyoshi warrior calmed the angry idiot down. "Are you going to help or not Azula" she thought about it and didn't see a downside of helping her brother.
"What is it you need Zuzu" the Kyoshi warriors face relaxed at Azulas acceptance making Azula wonder how the favor would help her.
"I'm sure you know of law that doesn't allow fire nation royals to marry outside the fire nation" he explained.
The law made sense to Azula, why marry into into a weaker nation? "Of course I know the law I'm not a idiot." Zuko took a deep breath trying his best to ignore his sisters defensive ways.
"The law is outdated, you should be able to love whoever you want I would think you of all people would understand that." Azula internally groans he was right yet again, as soon as Azula got the power to burn Sozins homosexuality law to the ground she took the opportunity.
"I will help" a smile grew on the lips of both the people in front of her, she ponders if they were extremely bad at keeping secrets or if they just didn't care it was blatantly clear they were in a relationship.
"However" their smiles fell while Azula's twisted smirk grew.
"You will tell mother I shall be left alone" Azula's mother was quite a pest, always attempting to start a conversation with her. It was amusing at first but over the ten years it became annoying and plus seeing Zuko telling Ursa no will be fun to watch.
"Azula you know I ca-" she interrupted him with the sound of her chair "well then I'm sure you can deal with it yourself, if you want to demand my presence again don't send the avatar to do your dirty work."
*
Azula picked at her nails as she wondered the fire nation palace halls she had nothing to do, what is a princess who has no authority to do? "Hm could walk around town" no would have to deal with peasants.
"I can-"
She was interrupted from her loud thoughts by the the yelling of the rather loud water tribe peasant.
"You can't possibly be that blind" she yells out sounding like she's on the edge of tears "I'm just being friendly" the avatars voice wasn't raised but you could tell he was getting aggravated.
"Well stop being so fucking friendly" the water bender cried as she shoved the avatar out her way and left. Azula watches as the avatar huffed and sat on the cold palace floor like a simple peasant "why don't you go after her imbecile?"
She walks over to him not lowering herself to the dirty floor "she doesn't like when I do that" he groaned "I don't even know what she likes anymore" he spoke lower.
"She's right you know, you are too friendly for your own good" someone could kill him and he would try to befriend them, she of all people knew that was a fact.
"I can't just stop being nice Azula" he disclosed, Azula wondered when they had become so informal that he address her out of her title. "I never said to stop but maybe low it down a bit Avatar" she leans off of the wall happy to leave the conversation at that.
"You know you can call me Aang right?" She turn around to the bald man behind her "that would be improper Avatar" her brows immediately furrowed in disapproval.
"We're friends there is no need to be proper" her eyes widen at his words.... friends? He has got to be stupid. They weren't friends she killed him for agnis sake. They where enemies, if given the chance she would strike him down and he would do the same.
Aang heard his mistake as soon as the words left his lips, Azula has never been keen of the word "friend" especially after Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal, in the five years of Azula being out the mental facility shes attempted to kill Mai at least seven times.
Before either of them could talk, Aang apologizing and Azula attacking, a royal servant interjected "apologies Princess Azula, Fire lord Zuko has requested your presence in the royal garden" he bowed before leaving.
Before the Avatar could speak Azula left not wanting to keep herself in the drawled out conversation. She walks towards the royal garden hoping not to run into anyone however it seems like the world has a grudge against her.
"Fuck, watch where your going princess sparks" Azula had to tilt her head down to be able to see the tiny blind girl. Beifong was undoubtedly the least annoying one in the avatars little play group she was also probably the most powerful aside from the avatar of course, so she gained Azula's respect.
"Well as you can not see, you were the one who bumped into me Beifong" the tiny girl scuffed at the use of her title.
"Anyway princess sparks have you seen Aang? I have to beat his ass for making Katara cry" the powerful earth bender had a wide smile on her face as she cracks her knuckles.
Azula felt a bit of pity for the Avatar she wouldn't wish the 5 feet devils wrath on her worse enemy. "He is in the west wing" Azula walked past the girl ending the conversation and continued her quest to the royal garden.
When Azula entered the royal garden she immediately spots her brother playing with the irritating turtle ducks. She walks towards him and they instantly swim away "have you come to a decision Zuzu?"
She picks at her nails as she waited for his answer "I'll tell her to back off, but just letting you know it will bre-" her temper spiked, steam coming off of her skin.
"Do you think I care? Do you think she cares who she breaks? Just tell her leave me alone and I'll make it so you can marry your precious Kyoshi warrior" Azula was left heavily breathing trying her best to calm the blue fire sparking in her palms.
Zuko watch's his sister waiting for the assassination attempt but was surprised by her restraint with her just exiting the room.
*
Azula finished packing all her belongings for her trip when she realized she had forgotten to remind Zuko to prep a ship or a war ballon for her. "Where are you going?" She jumps at the surprise presence but she quickly recovered.
"Where ever you aren't" she starts walking towards Zukos office to demand transportation the Avatar quietly followed her until she reached the hall way of Zukos office. “Zuko has a meeting on Ember island he should be halfway there as we speak" he chimed in from behind her.
She raked her brain for a answer to her dilemma, she couldn't ask for transportation herself one of her punishments was she had no power over her people they could simply say no.
"I do not need your help Avatar" Azula walked past him deciding she'll stroll around until she finds a answer. “I know" his hands grabbed hers and pulled her towards himself "but I want to help" Azula stepped back not liking the closeness.
She didn't see another solution the Avatar had his big beast that she could use "ok" she looks up to the tall man and saw his signature smile and she wouldn't dare admit how hard it was to fight of her own smile.
